Radiant Spectrum Artist Feature: Kevin Spanky Long @kevinspankylong . . Kevin Spanky Long is a California-based professional skate boarder, videographer, and illustrator. Long’s illustrations present viewers with nonsensical depictions of goofy characters and quirky objects situated in imaginary worlds. His drawings reflect the internet era, complete with smiley faces, rainbows and pizza. The drawings themselves evoke a sense of movement - a truck speeding off a floating checkered platform, a sprinting rainbow dinosaur, an assembled mass of ideas that is both a face and a path leading nowhere. Perhaps influenced by his profession as a skater, Long's drawings exist in a state of precariousnes - threatening to topple at any moment, but somehow maintaining composure through consistent and detailed line work that is carried throughout. . .
