  okay, so basically, I am leaving the sleepykinq/dolleye fandom.

why? because it has become toxic, a lot of people STILL tend to call other artists “sleepykinq rip-offs” and I don’t wanna associate in a fandom that does this. I will still reblog sleepykinqs posts and whatnot but entering the fanbase? There is no chance in hell I will do that again.

i keep seeing ppl be like "infinite dendro is just another sao" bc the anime came out and altho i havent watched the anime yet, since im on vol 3 rn, im like sobbing in my corner like no plz at least have the decency to compare it to log horizon or something. sao is like. dumb power fantasy. edgy loner wolf dude. log horizon was like. actual mmo stats and game mechanics! teamwork! guilds of mmo players and npcs working together! a real world where you can build things!!! log horizon is/was so gooooddd (;_;)

and like. infinite dendro's whole appeal is the ability to be a fantasy life where you can create things. and growth and stuff that's represented by your embryos. and like late spoilers but in log horizon they learned that to make actual good food you need to actually cook and not go thru the menu like you're just playing a video game. they worked their way up to making an actual working steamboat and then had this whole political arc w/ the npcs in a nearby country abt like. rights and economic trade and stuff. and like.

slight spoilers for volume 2 and 3, but in infinite dendro the country of dryfe is populated by artists and tradesmen players. like. ppl that are engineering students irl literally got together in guilds and made working mechas in the game. theres apparently a manga godframe grandmarshall that was made by a player in-game w/ a Painter/artist job skills. theres geopolitics that happen between the different countries and wars and histories and stuff. its a slower light novel than other mainstream vrmmo/isekai stories, but the world building is so good. arrrrrrghghghg

also im like so confused by comments (maybe not in tumblr specifically, but i’ve seen them on kitsu and twitter) that are like. "this game'll never work since players would just kill all the npcs and stuff bc npc permadeath" and im just like??? am i the only person to treat npcs in skyrim and stuff decently? geez whats wrong w/ you ppl? try? not killing?

sorry for the rando rant about this isekai video game anime lol but like srsly im so annoyed by ppl who judge an entire franchise by like 1 or 2 episodes of a show that's like. what. 12 or 15 episodes?? uuuuuuuuuuuuu YOU’VE ONLY SEEN LIKE WHAT. 30 MINUTES TO ABOUT AN HOUR OR SO OF THIS 11 NOVEL SERIES? THAT’S ON GOING??? HOW CAN YOU JUDGE IT SO EASILY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT’S PRACTICALLY COMMON SENSE THAT BOOKS ARE BETTER THAN SCREEN ADAPTATIONS AND THERE’S A TON OF WORLD BUILDING AND EXPOSITION THAT BOOKS HAVE THE FREEDOM TO GO ON ABOUT IN SOME EXTRA PARAGRAPHS OR TWO THAT I’M SURE THAT ADAPTATIONS ALWAYS LEAVE OUT.

(whispers also high school me did actually read the sao light novels too when they were on like. baka tsuki in 2014. up to around half way thru alicization, years before the alicization arc’s novels were even officially in english. and like. they all revolved around how cool kirito was and like i dont really remember much about if they did do any world building, even in arcs where players could have even a fraction of the creative freedom that the log horizon/dendro games give their players, in like the first sao/aicrad arc. where you were supposed to have a real second life and stuff. and ppl got trapped there for 2 whole years. like. idk. liz's a swordsmith. asuna. has cooking skills?? meh not much else. it just went “let's not explore the game features or anything abt fun world building. instead have this emo loner high schooler. look at how cool he is.” bluhhh. at least ray's an average, well adjusted college dude who can work w/ others. shiroe's also a decent guy who's just really good at math and multitasking.

i think theres some sao side novels abt other players that were trapped in aincrad and like. that would be. so much more interesting. then kirito stuff. like. the whole orphanage for the kids who were playing sao and got trapped? average ppl who made livelihoods in 2 years like liz or agil who opened shops and just wanted to live their lives and stuff? like an anthology series abt players making. idk. therapy groups, publishing books to deal w/ their shit, and creative arts guilds, going abt their lives would be soooooo much more interesting to me world building-wise.

also, the geo-political stuff? afaik, it’s non existent in sao. maybe the closest that you can get is the uhhh. race wars? (yeah wow that’s actually really awful when you put it that way holy shit thanks sao abridged) that whole conflict in alo is maybe the closest you can get to fractions and guilds and stuff fighting. 

but log horizon? elder tale has the HALF Gaia project, where the game is literally just a scaled down version of earth w/ post apocalyptic ruins of the “modern world” thats why the whole akihabara thing exists. then, it created an actual history of npcs and their countries and empires and spawned them around the world. and then, to add to the npc’s geo-politics, we also have the players’ geo-politics in terms of servers. the main cast is in akihabara. iirc, the light novel ended w/ the akihabara players in an alliance w/ the npc country/federation/city state thing the eastern league of free cities. they’re in some war against other players from minami city. 

and then infinite dendrogram vol 3 comes in with this treat about geopolitics and world building that i’m sure that you would never see in sao:

Like, in the best of cases they hear you and maybe even offer some platitudes, but like nobody you try to express yourself to ever just sits the fuck down and lends an ear for long enough to absorb the message of what you mean? Or they get put off by you being intense about how you're feeling so they awkwardly laugh and change the subject? So then you just gotta live with the fact that these people claim to mean well but for all intents and purposes they demonstrate that they don't give flying fuck about you and their words are empty just to make themselves feel better if you ever raise it up as A Problem?

And I do my occasional rants about fun DnD stuff I discover or follow the rules to see what can be gained. Very nerdy. Mythology and cultural understanding is my jam! I love Pokémon Ask Blogs. Also, DOCTOR WHO! Furry. And I support LGBT+ and Trans people who feel the need to be whoever they feel is right with themselves.

I... am not interested of stuff that divides large amounts people. So I am no fan of politics. Chosen not to be associated with any religious practices or beliefs, but doesn’t shun those who do.

I love people. I’m just afraid of the world. So much irl violence and finger pointing. It is disgusting.

I play the video games. But unfortunately my library isn’t that big and sometimes I play SO much on a few games at a time, it’s hard for me to change course. But my current obsessions are Warframe, The Elder Scrolls Online, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, and Pokémon.

I mostly post from my phone, old laptop is a piece of poop. Hoping to get a better comp one day, and able to make art proper. Might flop over to a new blog once I got the tools to do so. Will keep posted if I do so.

I love learning but I really hate the school system. They can't even bother to be organized and they just put everyone in bad situations because of that and they'll blame it on the students. And the more time you spend in that system the worse it gets.

Like, I'm autistic and I am as unorganized and messy as one can get. So their organization being worse than mine ? Yeah that's an issue.

Rant time

That one friend that made me go on a full rant at 3am once because on good omens (this post) also watches the QSMP

And she geinds my gears with shipping stuff, tbh

Like, we'll be talking about canon couples, fun dyos and dynamics, CCs we didn't expect to be so fun together, etc, and of course, being SO romance obsessed, she needs everyone to have a commited explicitly romantic relationship with at least one other person

So when, for example, the canonically platonic couples who have a kid together come around, she CANNOT accept that it's explicitly platonic and not romantic and that it's canon

We talk about Jaiden and Roier, I talked about Roier and Cellbit having their thing (this was like a month ago, there wasn't a wedding in the works yet) and Jaiden being very supportive of whatever Roier wants to do, and how great a duo they are as besties and that it's really cool that they're explicitly platonic. She immediately tried to dig into it to make up a romantic drama with Jaiden and Roier, and when I said that they're canonically aroace and gay she just went "omg, they're starving the fans of that ship though!! Sapopeta should get between that" (context, Sapopeta was Maxo's character in Karmaland and notoriously shipped luckity and did everything in his power to get them together and fine with eachother again)

Then we were talking about how Missa and Phil haven't seen eachother again yet, and we started explaining it to another friend who doesn't watch the qsmp. We talked about Forever wanting Phil, and then havung a fight with Missa over Phil, but it ticked me after that whole Jaiden and Roier thing, how she started with "they have this romance, I mean uh... What do you call it?", So I went "they're canonically a platonic pair, they raise a son together", and she immediately went again "yeah that, so like a romance, right, and in come Forever wanting to steal Phil..."

And MAN. We really need more platonic pairs of characters doing "couply" things and qprs more often so that people can start to FUCKING GET IT, 'cause my god, it's exhausting

Like could you not invalidate my whole life experience as an aroace and also go against what creators themselves have said for the sake of focusing always on a very typical amatonormative romance? If it goes against amatonormativity, EXPLORE THAT, don't erase it just for the sake of imagining a kiss, where's the fun in varied dynamics if everyone's in a monogamous amatonormative relationship

It's in moments like these where I truly cement the fact that I'm ace and arospec, because fuck, every time someone does something to indicate that they want to be something romantic there I am trying to play dumb and oblivious even if I noticed it months ago, until they either get the hint or get tired and give up

And now I've just spent all day like "I left it in read, now I have to face this dude tomorrow and through the whole next week... Damn this will be awkward, how do I let someone down without just wanting to run the fuck away?"
