Hero Vision Vol.7 (2002/Summer) ft. Kamen Rider Ryuki Cast Members with Ryohei & Hidekazu Ichinose (translations below)
Takamasa Suga (Kido Shinji) Interview (page 6-7)
"At the time of this interview, the double filming for both the movie and TV series were underway, and it appears to be a real nightmare."
Suga: I'm already overwhelmed. I don't have time to sleep or even memorize the script. "What am I suppose to do?!" is the current state of things (laughs). My body is starting to get used to it, but it's still very difficult.
"Despite the demanding schedule, he always has such a sweet smile on his face. It's been six months since he started playing the role of Shinji Kido, the main character of Kamen Rider Ryuki. He says that his image of Shinji, which at first felt like a blur, has recently become more defined."
Suga: In the begining, I was so preoccupied with filming, that I honestly wasn't thinking about Shinji. I hadn't seen "Kamen Rider Kuuga" or "Agito," so I didn't know about the whole Rider process. However, when someone said to me, "Producer Shirakura said that after the transformations in Episodes 1 and 2, that was Ryuki's Shinji," I thought I had a better grasp of what was going on. I thought it was the movements of suit actor Seiji Takaiwa in the Mirror World, so I though, "Alright, I'll do that." At first, I thought Shinji was a pretty pathetic guy, but he's actually a strong leader, and always does what he thinks is right. I've recently realized how cool it is that Shinji's charm has the power to envelope everyone around.
"Not the coolness of a dependable hero, but rather, humane and tasteful coolness. He and Takaiwa-san had a close meeting to better express Shinji's emotions before and after transforming. Whether it's how Shinji sleeps, or how Shinji goes about his day after waking up."
Suga: Even in my private life, I notice I'll say, "Eh!?," or some other Shinji like reaction. Sometimes, I get caught up in a strange emotion where I can't tell who is the original, myself or Shinji.
"Suga-kun, who is now a huge part of Shinji's life, had never seen "Kamen Rider" until he was given the chance to audition. Although he had always been interested in the entertainment industry, he was unsure of his career path after high school. It wasn't untill he saw the movie "Swallowtail," directed by Shunji Iwai, where he decided to become an actor."
Suga: It felt as though I had watched that movie with my whole body. I saw it with my eyes, heard the sounds with my ears, and even felt like I smelt the movie. After watching, I was still in a mix of emotions and thought, "What is this feeling?" Then I realized, "Oh, I know! I want to be on the screen!" It was a real Shinji moment (laughs).
"After working on TV dramas and gaining some experience, he auditioned for Ryuki a few years later, but with the feeling that he was "grasping at straws."
Suga: When I went into the second round of judging, all the models around me were on the same level as Ryohei-san, so I thought this was definitely not going to work out. Even after making it to the final round, I was so nervous that at one point I said something unintelligible like, "I love beer!" When I received the news two weeks later that I got the role, I didn't believe it right away and was cautious, saying, "I don't believe this."
"When you went to the costume fitting with high expectations of what kind of cool Kamen Rider you'd see, when seeing Ryuki for the first time, you though……."Kendo?!" You were very surprised.
Suga: When I first saw it, I thought it was a really strange design that I had never seen before. Now, I'm very attached to it, and think it's the coolest out of all the riders. I love it so much.
"Of all the episodes that have been filmed so far, episodes 13 and 14 are the ones that you value the most. It's the episodes where he was distressed by the thought that he had killed Zolda."
Suga: It was then, that I once again found myself thinking about my sense of responsibility as a Rider. It was like I had just shed a layer of skin. But, even though he grows little by little this way, I would like to keep Shinji's "roots" planted as they are. Everyone around Shinji is carrying something on their shoulders, except for Shinji himself. He's quick to say, "I'll protect people," while having nothing to back up his words. No one to protect, and no past. I once thought about it deeply, and asked the producer, "Does Shinji have a past?" I was told, "No, Shinji is just a young man who had a normal upbringing." I think that's when my mind began to wander. I don't have anything to prove it, but I'm not sure that's something Shinji would say. What I am sure of, is that his emotions are straight and pure like a child, which I like. I also cherish the bad and idiotic parts of Shinji as well.
"You get along well with your co-stars, Matsuda-kun and Ryohei-kun, who are of the same generation."
Suga: We'll talk about upcoming scenes and say things like, "Ren, how do you feel about this part?" and "Ok then, let's do that part like this." We'll work through this process by trial and error. Everyone has a strong character, so I hope we can create relationships on screen that brings out the best in all of us.
Suga-kun talks about Shinji and Ryuki with more enthusiasm than usual. Everything in his life is all about Ryuki now, and he seems to be enjoying it very much. _
Satoshi Matsuda (Akiyama Ren) Interview (page 8-9)
Matsuda-kun was dressed in a black tank top, with black leather pants, and short black boots. Just like Ren, black seems to be his main image color. We asked, "Are you trying to convey Ren's image?" He responded with, "I think Ren is trying to convey me." If a normal man said those words, you'd think he was being sarcastic, but when Matsuda-kun says them, they sound natural.
"Matsuda, a native of Osaka Prefecture, still occasionally speaks with the Kansai dialect."
Matsuda: Recently, I've been able to play the role of a Ren naturally. Ren's a really cool guy, isn't he? Before, I worked hard on creating the "extreme" part of him. You don't normally see people like him in real life (laughs). People who have known me for a long time will say, "You and I are exact opposites." Usually I'm just messing around while speaking nonsense.
"Ren (Kamen Rider Knight) is a complex character, being neither right nor wrong. Therefore, when acting, Matsuda says, "I try to give weight to each word instead of saying too little." He also said, "If I move too fast, I'll look weak, so I try not to move too fast except for when I run at full speed. Like when I'm chasing after Shinji, you know?"
"He won the role of Ren through an audition, but even before doing the audition, he "debated for a week whether or not he would accept the role." According to his manager, who is Toei's producer for Ryuki, Shinichiro Shirakura, he had been paying attention to Matsuda-kun since his debut work in "Natural Girl Next ~ 100 Nights in Yokohama". Matsuda-kun, who never heard that before, shyly said, "This is the first I'm hearing of that!! I'm so embarrassed (laughs)."
Matsuda: Before the audition, I had some hesitation due to the fact that Ryuki was a children's show. So I worked with the manager, faxing each other back and forth, talking about all kinds of things, like what kind of fans the franchise had, the kind of material we had, who would watch us, and so on. In the end I decided, "Okay, I'll accept!! After all, I went through all this trouble of research, so I'll definitely have to do it now!"
"Oooh, so cool Matsuda-kun!!"
Matsuda: Afterall, I would look like a complete idiot if I failed the audition because I said, "I don't want to be associated with tokusatsu" (laughs). That's what I thought, so I didn't push back at all when I entered the production.
"Ren plays the "Secondary Rider" role in the show, and while Shinji is the main character, according to Matsuda-kun, "It's probably better than having the lead role (laughs). The camera follows Shinji, and Ren follows him in order to make the story more interesting." He goes onto say that Shinji and Ren have a bad relationship."
Matsuda: Rather than liking, disliking or having a friendship with him, I feel it's more like, "It's stupid to even hate this guy" (laughs). When he says to Shinji, "I owe you one," he says it as if embarrassed, and I think it's Ren's way of dealing with Shinji that he'll carry through to the end.
"There are rumors (!!) on the internet that you're on bad terms with Takamasa Suga, who plays the role of Shinji."
Matsuda: I'm often asked by magazine reporters if we don't get along (laughs). But, it's actually really surprising to be asked such a question. Sugacchi (Suga-kun's nickname on set), is a good friend and co-worker, who I usually go home together with, or out on the town together. So, I'm trying to figure out what else I should do to emphasize how well we get along with each other.
"It's been said that you're also on good terms with Hassei Takano, who plays Tezuka Miyuki (Kamen Rider Raia)."
Matsuda: He and I are strangely compatible. On my way to the studio, we meet up at a convenience store near the train station and make the 10 minuet walk while goofing around. That's what we like about each other (laughs)
"He says that working as an actor is difficult, but also enjoyable. He says that tokusatsu programs are particularly appealing because he can play a role over the span of a year. However, he also has his complaints."
Matsuda: I've begged the staff to do more action! Riders fight after transforming, so there's not much action before the transformation. And since Ren is supposed to be a strong fighter, he can knock out his opponents with a single punch. Well, that's not exactly what I mean, I just wanted to make a big statement. The other day, there was a scene where Takashi Hagino, who plays Takeshi Asakura (Ouja), filmed a scene that I really liked, and I watched admiringly while also being jealous (laughs).
"Matsuda-kun was originally scheduled to work for a fashion related company, but after his debut, understood "the depth of the industry," and chose to be an actor."
Matsuda: Ryuki is a battle between 13 Riders, but in reality, it's also a war between the Riders to see who can survive and who will be eliminated. That's why I myself, feel like I'm in a very serious competition as Akiyama Ren. There's no end to how difficult it is to be an actor, and the fact that there is no answer, not a single one, is fascinating. It's perfect for a arts major like myself.
Ren (Knight), wasn't the only one who continues to fight without an answer. Actor Satoshi Matsuda's battle has only just begun. _
Hassei Takano (Tezuka Miyuki) Interview (page 10-11)
Two years ago, Takano-kun gained popularity for his cool acting as Hiroya Fujimiya (Ultraman Agul) in "Ultraman Gaia." He didn't expect that he would also appear in Kamen Rider Ryuki as the fifth Rider, "Raia." As expected, no one else has appeared in both productions but him.
Takano: At the time I overheard from a friend of mine that, "There are going to be 13 Kamen Riders this time around." "Eh? That many?," we talked about it so normally. Then he said, "My friends are going to be in it." It turned out to be Matsuda-kun (Akiyama Ren) and Yuge-kun (Yura Goro). So, while I had heard stories, it was a surprise that I was also going to appear in the show. It felt almost like fate (laughs).
He had no hesitations about appearing in a tokusatsu program for a second time, as he thought to himself, "I want to do it."
Takano: If I had been the me from a little while ago, I might have been a little put off, but this time, I'm enjoying the challenge of how to play the hero and making them look good.
"The days of Ultraman Gaia were the dawn of a new era for tokusatsu. This was followed by "Kamen Rider Kuuga," which marked the new wave of tokusatsu, as these series of works have made the public recognize tokusatsu programs more and more in recent years."
Takano: I felt this phenomenon firsthand. The quality of "Gaia" was high, and I felt that the range of people watching the show was expanding, but since filming Ryuki, I've realized how popular these shows are.
"This is a comment only a performer of two works can make. What did you feel was the different between Ultraman and Ryuki when you actually played the role?"
Takano: The difference in enemy size (laughs). In Ultraman, alot of the performance is looking up and imagining the enemy in the blue background. Furthermore, for Ultraman, the SFX team would split up my shots in two directions, whereas in Ryuki's case, I would just keep saying, "Ok, I going to transform," so I really felt that I was transforming. I'm actually really fond of it. Uh…But, when I was shown a picture of Raia's image for the first time, I honestly thought, "Eh-?!" (laughs). The color is kind of mediocre, like it's pink metallic with some orange. Personally, I love blues and black, so I thought, "It must be nice being Knight~." Everyone else has a clear motif, like a bat or dragon, but Raia is a stingray? Can't I be a shark or maybe a whale? Furthermore, I'm a fortune telling stingray? eh? (laughs). At first, I was surprised by the world view of Ryuki. "A net for grilling meat?", "Transforming with a card?" things like that (laughs).
"That was a very honest yet blunt comment by Takano-kun. But now, he loves playing the role of Raia. As for the character of Miyuki Tezuka…"
Takano: I liked him from the very beginning. Tezuka wanted to change his Rider's fate. The desire to push back against something that's already been decided is a natural trait inherent in humans, isn't it? "If I can decide my future, then this wasn't it!," and I think everyone wants to change something. I think Tezuka, who says that he creates his own future, is a very charming and passionate character to play.
"Takano-kun says that he also admires Tezuka. In the show, there is a scene where Tezuka asks Shinji, "Have you ever felt so lost that you feel you could die?"
Takano: I've never been that unsure. I am indecisive, so when I'm in doubt, I'll ask someone else to decide for me (laughs). Even when I'm hanging out with friends, they'll say, 'Where do you want to go?" I'll say, "You decide. I'll follow you." I admire Tezuka's way of life, but it seems so extreme that I'd rather not live like him.
"By dying, Tezuka proved to Shinji that he could "change his future" with his own hands."
Takano: For Tezuka, when I read the script about him becoming a Rider because of what happened to his friend, I cried a little.
"At first, Takano-kun heard that Tezuka's friend (Saito Yuichi) was initially suppose to be a racer. The story was originally about him being unable to use his legs due to an accident, then, it was changed to him being a pianist that lost the ability to use his hands due to an incident caused by Ouja (Takeshi Asakura). This is what caused Tezuka to become more agitated before the battle with Ouja."
Takano: What's most sad to think about, is that I'll no longer have a role in the show after I die. In Ultraman Gaia, I was always out of sync with everyone else and was often alone, but this time we were always together.
"As their senior in tokusatsu, he gave advice to Suga-kun and Matsuda-kun, and in return, they taught him about Ryuki. On one occasion, when filming for the day finished early, the three of them went out for drinks in Shinjuku"
Takano: At that time, there was a counter across from the table where we were sitting, and there was a young woman reading a copy of Hero Vision. I noticed and went, "Ah-!," and all three of us were exposed immediately. I thought to myself at the time that the popularity of tokusatsu programs were reaching new heights (laughs).
Kamen Rider Ryuki, which was made with the help of people of his generation, will likely be a very memorable work for Takano-san. _
(partial translations for the rest below)
Kamen Rider Ryuki - Film Site Report (Page 12) (top, 1st photo): "Between takes, they made friendly conversation. They were constantly surrounded by the neighborhood children, but only Matsuda-kun kept his distance from them (laughs)." (bottom, last photo): "In his hand is Dragreder. Hidden away in his bag is a Ryuki Plushie." _
Satoshi Ichijou (Shibaura Jun) Interview (page 14)
"The sixth Kamen Rider, Gai (Shibaura Jun), is a smart, game freak, and coldhearted college student, while Ichijou-kun, who played Jun, is also an active college student."
Ichijou: During filming, I had to ask my friends to help me with various things like, "I’m sorry! I lost my attendance card somewhere" (laughs).
"When Ichijo appeared in Kamen Rider, his friends reaction were, "We can't watch it because it airs tooooo early in the morning!" The reaction of his friends are very natural."
Ichijou: On my days off, I hang out with my friends in my hometown. I also play street futsal with the guys from my high school soccer team, as well as those from the baseball and basketball teams who liked to play soccer. There's a place behind Meiji University in Ochanomizu, where we play all the time and always win, plus, it's free to get into (laughs).
"At first he wondered how he was going to fit in, but it turned out "they were all nice people" and he settled in easily."
Ichijou: I was aware from the beginning that Gai would be gone in five weeks, so it wasn't a shock to me that he died. But, I had been wondering how he was going to die. I really didn't think he would die in an explosion (laughs). Furthermore, what's inside the suit of a Rider whose been bombed to death with such incredible force? I wonder.
Ichijo-kun is an active university student with a flexible attitude. I wonder where we'll see him next?
_
Yasuko Kobayashi (Main Writer) Interview (page 15)
"When the production of Kamen Rider Ryuki was announced, we were surprised at how ambitious the setting was."
Kobayashi: I think that 13 riders were chosen in part because Bandai was going to produce alot of toys. Rather than having just one rider with multiple forms changes, Bandai said, "Let's have a lot of Riders." We planed to use this as a strategy to create an impact in terms of the number of participants. At first, we wanted to say, "Let's send out 50 Riders!," and I think Bandai was also interested in the number of people who would be involved in the project. Bandai also requested that we integrate cards in and to fight in a different universe. That's why Producer (Shinichiro) Shirakura-san must have thought a lot about it, until he decided on what we now call the "Mirror World." We wanted it to look like there was a "story" first, and not the "setting" first.
"In certain situations, only the main character, Shinji, "Has no reason to fight", which we think is very original."
Kobayashi: I think it's important to sometimes say "It can't be helped," because other people are carrying a variety of burdens. Because he's not carrying anything on his back, he's able to look at the battle from a "pure" perspective, which is what makes him the main character. I think the strength of not carrying anything on one's back comes out in the genuine strength of a person. Because, even though there is nothing of interest at stake, it's usually impossible to do something dangerous or foolish like risking lives, especially for today's generation. That's why Shinji is the strongest of them all……is what I think.
"However, Shinji watches and fights for Ren and his friends suffering, and in the end, Shinji too is able to grow.
Kobayashi: But, I don't think it's a good idea for him to grow based on circumstances of the people around him, due to them being so grave. However, how we move Shinji forward is an issue for the future. What will happen to the relationship between Ren and Shinji is the most important thing now. _
Ryohei & Hidekazu Ichinose: The Secret Records Vol.1 (page 17)
"How did you two get to know each other?"
Ichinose: I went into the office because I wanted to ask for some advice. Goro-chan immediately stopped me at the entrance (laughs).
Ryohei: Goro-chan is a bodyguard, you know (laughs). Actually, we had a mutual acquaintance. The first time we met was before I got the role in Ryuki. It was after I had auditioned, so it must have been last fall.
"Recently Ichinose-san has completed filming for "Ultraman Cosmos."
Ichinose: "The question now is how can I make the most of what I have gained during the past year? The other day, I was in Myanmar to live on a lake as part of the filming for "Sekai Ururun Taizaiki," where I had a great time, and I hope everyone enjoys the broadcast! I slept soundly every night, and even drank tea made from boiled river water without getting sick or having an upset stomach. After this I hope everyone will continue to look out for me.
Ryohei: I'm currently putting all my energy into Ryuki. I'm happy that I'm popular among adult women, but what I really want is for children to focus on me. I would be happy to receive fan letters from children. I really don't understand them at all (laughs). I like kids, but they're all afraid of Kitaoka, so when they see me on the streets, they back away, and, I'm pretty sure won't look me in the eyes?
Ichinose: The children become frozen.
Ryohei: It's strange, isn't it?
"It may seem unconvincing, but we're rooting for you to become popular with the children!"

I was taking a look at one of the first drafts of the episode, "No Big Thing," and noticed a lot of differences in the scene where KITT gets refuled. I'll post the script here, word for word.
KITT: Now remember, Michael. Five gallons should do amply. No more. I don't want to have to spend a day getting my tanks purged. Very distasteful procedure.
Michael: Okay. Okay. *He exits*
(EXT. CAR - DAY)
*Man approaches the car*
Man: Afternoon, mister. What'll it be?
Michael: Five gallons, unleaded, please.
Man: Only five?
Michael: It's okay. I'm doing a mileage test.
*The man takes the nozzle and starts looking for the filler cap, which, naturally, he can't find*
Man: Uh, where's your cap, buddy?
Michael: It's a little complicated. Here, let me do it.
*He takes the hose and crosses behind the car*
Man: Check under your hood?
Michael: Don't bother.
*He walks to the driver's door and tries to open it (to release the hood latch) without success after much struggle*
(REAR OF CAR)
*as Michael quickly bends down and inserts hose nozzle in exhaust pipe. In a few quick gulps, KITT sucks up the five gallons, as the overloaded pump clangs like a pinball machine*
Tumblr media
Why the hell would Michael put the hose in the exhaust pipe? It's not even connected to the fuel tank! Also, how the hell could KITT suck up gasoline through his pipe?
The people probably thought that was bullshit, so they changed it to having Michael fill up KITT in a filler cap under his rear. (But why there? He has a cap on his side already)

Sitting next to Sansa you watch as the joust of the season plays out ranging from knights who know what they are doing to those who have no clue and think they were worthy but instead the only thing they were worthy of was death by jousting stick to the throat.
Joffery sits beside her, the king next to his queen. Sansa twirls the rose between her fingers not feeling the pain of the thorns ever so often pricking her finger tips.
"What do you think about my love? Who will win this joust? "Joffrey laughs.
“I don't know which ever you see fit to do so.” she says blankly.
“I want..him to win.” he says and points to the smaller man with the chestnut stallion.
“Such a beautiful horse my king, and what a prize rider you should be out there to show your win and power.” she says once again as if it has been scripted.
“I should! HA but I'm here with you! Watching is far more entertaining!” he yells the last part and the crowd cheers.
“Sansa.” you say taking her hand seeing her bleeding fingers. You gesture to a maid and she hurries bringing a cloth and wipes off the blood.
“Take it from her, I will not have my bride with impurities.” Joffrey says. You take the rose for her, holding it in your hands. Sansa stands and walks off with the tournament. Leaving Joffrey to sip on his wine. Continuing on with the joust a shadow slightly casts over you as you turn your head seeing Ser Sandor Clegane. You give him a light smile but his glare holds steady causing you smile to drop and your eyes to look away and back at the joust. Once again the man is taken out by the other.
You huff and walk over to your seat sitting back down. Cersi sits next to you placing her hand on your leg before leaning into you to speak.
“You don't have to be nice to him, you know nothing good will come out of being kind to a killer.” she says as she notices your smile at the hound. You tense up under her touch as she continues.
“The only thing nice will get you is the same fate he found himself. His face melting in the hot coals of the fire he was pushed into.” She says.
“Ser Gregor clegane!! And Lord Dortain!” the announcer projects and they both come to the front. Lord Dortain, your brother who has been keeping an eye on you in king's landing to make sure you're alright.
They take their positions as they are ready and begin. The first is a miss as neither released the joust. Next they go once more and your brother knocks Gregor clean off his horse you smile clapping your hands together along with everyone else. You brother rides to the front and smiles bowing before Joffrey who seems pissed.
“YOU!!!” Gregor yells and swings his sword knocking your brother off his horse you gasp and stand but Cersei grabs your arm. Keeping you in place from running out. As Gregor attacks, your brother hound runs down and clashes swords protecting him. The fight between brothers begins but before it can be finished Joffrey yells out.
“STOP IT YOU FUCKING IMBICELS!!” he huffs as sandor bows leaving gregor to huff and walk off madly. Leaving Joffrey to follow after him.
———
You walk through the halls looking for sansa but a guard blocks your way.
“Excuse me.” You say to try and move but they don't.
“The king wants to see you…” one says your breath hitches as you suck in air before they turn and walk, only leading you to follow whatever demise you're to meet.
Arrived at the great hall where the throne is placed. Walking in the entire court as well as other people stand at attention to joffrey sansa standing at his side. You walk down the aisle of people and to the end of the steps to see him sitting fuming.
“You king. You wanted to see me?” you ask curstsing before you speak again.
“You're brother made a fool of me…OF MY HOUSE.” he yells at you.
“Your grace its a jousting tournament. I'm sure he had no intention of mockery.” you say he frowns and waves his hand as ser meryn hits you across the face causing you to fall to your knees you see Sansa about to run to you but she holds herself together.
“Killing you would send your brother a message. A message so inflatable that you should learn to tell him no such reward will be given!!” he says holding out a sword towards you before standing up and taking one step down.
“Ser merryn strip her, a fool loves to entertain and i'm sure her body’s view would be entertaining to all.” he huffs out ser merryn rips open the back of your dress.
“NO!” You scream out holding the fabric to your body as he tries to tear it away from you eventually hitting you again and kicking you before continuing to tear the fabric.
“WAIT- '' Joffrey says before you're fully exposed. Ser merryn steps back a bit.
“I've thought of a better lesson to teach. A fool deserves the golden treatment for they make those among us laugh…so I shall have the biggest laugh of them all and make a joke…I'll have to send the message to your family of course...but dog is in need of a bitch and i think you fit the description perfectly.'' Joffrey chuckles.
“Hound. Are you going to let your future wife sit bare in front of King's landing?” he says chuckling once more before the hound sighs and walks down the stairs to you he raises his hand and you flinch but when you feel the warmth of his large cape surrounding you, you look up before moving your gaze back down.
“Congratulations on the engagement.” jofferry laughs.
“Here's a present.” he says as the door opens having two people carrying a silver platter with a dome on time as it gets closer you open your mouth to scream but nothing comes out besides the tears waterfalling from your eyes as you see Dortains head on it.
“An early wedding gift!! A tribute if you will..a lesson, to you, to your family. Now of course nothing went to waste. Ha ha i sent his body to your family and fed his cock and ball to the dogs.” joffrey signs and sits back down.
“You've got a wedding to plan for. Don't you.” he says looking at you. You look down feeling hurt and scared. Your brother is no longer without your family having to see what happened to him. Someone picks you up as you realize it's sandor. He holds you in his arms.
“Get her out of my sight.” Joffrey scoffs. Sandor nods and turns walking out of the room, your ladies in waiting running after you both.

Announcement: The 2025 Blaze-a-thon Fundraiser Stream
Since moving I have applied to 40+ jobs and had no bites. But I need to make rent with my new roommate. So I'll be running a fundraiser stream this Friday. I hate having to do this, but at the same time, you folks have always been extremely patient and generous with me. So I'm adding some stretch goals.
Obviously the point is to be able to pay rent this month, but the more we push past that, the easier things will be for me. How far will we get? You'll have to tune in and find out, I guess.
It will be streamed live on my twitch channel (twitch.tv/blazehedgehog) and, for the first time in years, co-streamed on my Youtube channel (youtube.com/blazehedgehog), this Friday, February 7th, 2025.
THE MAIN GOAL
$600: I can pay rent this month
STRETCH GOALS
$1200: I will do a live reading of the current Shadow Generations script
$1800: I will stream "Man vs. Wild" for the Xbox 360 to completion
$2500: For the next four months, I will stream something every single Wednesday.
$4000: I will stream a playthrough and live Q&A for every unfinished build of Sonic: TFH I have
$5500: I will do a live reading of the lost Sonic Forces (but not Sonic Forces) video script(s) ("Sonic and the Fear of Speed")
$7500: For the next year, I will livestream myself developing a game (separate from streaming every Wednesday).
$10000: I will reveal the secret under my hat.
Do Twitch subs count for this?
...Yes, but to be honest, judging by my analytics, I only get like $3 per sub.
Potential Games to Stream
Finish Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon
Finish Sonic Unleashed
Finish Sonic Superstars (Trip Mode)
Finish (?) Penny's Big Breakaway
My First Time Ever Playing Undertale
Everybody loves UFO 50
Parappa the Rapper (Duckstation)
Roll on through to Lammy and Parappa 2?
There's a Parappa clone for the Saturn that just got a translation patch...
I keep meaning to stream Crash Bandicoot 4
Could do a showcase for Bug!, Clockwork Knight, and Astal (assuming Saturn emulation plays nice)
NiGHTS A-Rank Showcase (assuming Saturn emulation plays nice)
There's also the 60fps patch for the PC version
Burning Rangers (assuming Saturn emulation plays nice)
Sonic Advance 2 SP
People weirdly liked Yu-Gi-Oh last time

Hey guys, found this thing of lost toku media!
So Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is a series I'm sure some of us know. It was an adaptation of Ryuki and such. Though I've always heard a rumor of the team actually wanting to do Kiva instead. Well would you know it, I did some digging and found scrapped scripts.
I'd actually really recommend checking this stuff out. It deals a lot with religious introspection and deconstruction via looking through the perspective of devout Catholicism.
I compiled this doc of all the episode scripts I've found. I'll see if I can find any more for y'all to enjoy!

Could you talk more about Jace not disagreeing with Daemon but disagreeing with his methods?
yah sure, but this is more or less makes sense if you accept the cut scene between jace & rhaenyra in ep 10 as canon or at least the sentiment of it, that is, that jace disagrees with rhaenyra's approach to war. in the same ep the show presents a sort of rivalry or opposition between daemon and jace that is really a conflict between daemon and rhaenyra. rhaenyra wants to stop everything for a while but daemon wants to act now before the greens send fucking vhagar to kill them all.
ok so this is the scene. jace is a dutiful son and wouldn't dare to disobey rhaenyra's direct order to stop daemon from going to war on his own. the thing is that jace doesn't have an ounce of daemon's influence in the council or amongst the lords and knights. jace is a powerless person hungry for control and in situations where he has it he exercises it ruthlessly like in the scene where he's "teaching" luke to swordfight. luke has to be strong, has to be ruthless, has to be quick, not soft or weak because then people will make fun of them and disregard their claim. this is what jace fears most of all, he can take it because he's learned to repress everything, but he feels he has to teach it to luke, who's more sensitive. daemon is the opposite and knows how to wield the influence he has for his purpose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
while jace doesn't like daemon, or respects him, this instance here (daemon showing jace "the true meaning of loyalty") shows jace that daemon might be onto something to start planning the war right away, that rhaenyra is too slow and too scared. there's a little power play here (inside the bigger power play l o l) where daemon gives and order opposite of what jace is saying, lord celtigar looks at jace and then at daemon before following daemon's orders, this is the kind of power jace wants. and the kind of handling ser steffon in the beach scenes reprimands jace for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
jace is more diplomatic than daemon, it's true, but diplomacy does nothing when the people don't respect you. power is not to be possessed like jace thinks, but to be wielded like daemon does later by threatening the KG with caraxes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the script for this scene says (credit to velatarg on twitter):
Ser Steffon looks to Jace, with whom he just spoke about tyrants ruling by fear. But Jace refuses to meet his gaze.
in the show jace clearly makes eye contact with ser steffon but jace turns away in shame because he knows it's wrong but doesn't disagree! he then it's awed/scared by caraxes. daemon governs with fear because it's the fastest route to loyalty. love can come later. and it's so ridiculously effective and unnecessary that's just obviously a power play from daemon directed at the KG and at jace in equal form. two birds one stone. jace can't make luke strong, can't make the lords listen to him, can't stop people from whispering about him. unless he could be more like daemon.
in the cut scene, jace says "daemon wants to fight for us" as daemon himself is hacking at other knights in the training yard below, again, exercising his power and violence in ways neither jace or rhaenyra feel they can (and it's so crazy the conversation is so stilted while daemon is always screaming in rage like the dragons feeling their rider's emotions). daemon has shown jace he would do anything for rhaenyra and i think jace would respect that, if not for his mother's sake. like i said, jace is a diplomat as seen by him swaying the lords to rhaenyra's cause in his way north his first instinct would never be to threaten someone with vermax, but again, fear is easier and fastest than love, if brittle on the long run.
with this cut scene we are shown that jace has processed all this: they must do something about the war, about the usurper and daemon's way is proven to be the most effective. rhaenyra is still dithering, still doubtful and jace hates idleness. i think the scene is really interesting in the way it angles the conflict once again between mother and son and not in jace as an extension of rhaenyra against daemon. it makes for another connection with their conflict about the kids' identity and rhaenyra's evasiveness.
jace must act, he must be proactive like daemon if he wants results, he must force rhaenyra's hand if he wants to be respected, if he wants to help end the war.

I once again decided to take a look at early Knight Rider scripts, this time, from the episode, "The Topaz Connection"
You all know the scene where a girl goes up to KITT and rubs his hood, making his scanner flash in a unique way. But originally, they wanted something else to happen! Here's the scene, word for word.
KITT: Michael.
*Michael is too busy looking to answer that*
KITT: Michael?!
Michael: Yeah, KITT?
KITT: Why are all those young ladies running around in such skimpy attire?
*Michael gets out of the car*
Michael: When I find out you'll be the first to know.
*He heads for the mansion entrance*
(OMITTED)
(ANGLE - PHOTOGRAPHER)
*Loaded with gear, he walks up to the Trans Am with an assistant*
Photographer: This must be the new car.
*He tries the door, can't open it. Pounds on it, frustrated. Now, several sexy models appear, gliding up to KITT. His scanner flashes. The doors, trunk, hood, and sunroof pop open immediately. The photographer is stunned*
Tumblr media
... you can probably imagine why they changed that scene. Gotta keep the show PG after all! But that would have been funny to see KITT do all of that. But I'm happy with what we got.

Plotting out "Verdant" (Disney musical)
Tumblr media
Make sure to check out my original post here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Background
With the recent success that Disney's had in the "Reinvention Era" (named by the fandom as a way of explaining Disney's ability to regain critical and financial success due to finding classic and original ways to make their films in the form in storytelling), the studio is a lot more open to projects pitched to them. One of them is a story inspired by "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" (said to have been spurred on the the pitcher having seen David Lowery's 2021 adaptation of the film). Disney is intrigued by the idea, but is intimidated by the concept of adapting an Arthurian story when their "Sword in the Stone" film being an iconic film in it's own right, so it's quickly decided that the project will not take place in the same continuity as the silver age, instead simply wanting to take the bare bones from the story (as they've done with many tales before). In particular, they wanted to keep the character of the green knight and a protagonist whose morality, sense of honesty, and integrity is tested. Wanting a different angle from the film to prevent it from being generic, Disney reaches out to Tomm Moore to direct the film. After some back and forth, he eventually agrees under the condition of it being 2D (using stained glass as inspiration), and Disney reluctantly concedes to this only since they've been dabbling in 2D again and meeting success. Needless to say, the film takes on an Irish flavor as a result of his involvement. They hire Phil Johnston to write the script, and in contrast to the more polite and noble male leads of the past few films, he decides to make the protagonist more of an antihero--not with the comedic aspect of Flynn Rider or light-heartedness of Aladdin, but more serious and traumatized. To elevate the material, they decide (after some deliberation) to make the film a musical, and the Anderson-Lopez team are brought on to tackle the music.
Plot
Tumblr media
In the land of Tíroighir, Ciarán grew up in the times of destruction. His family was slaughtered, and all he knew was rage. He turned this on the first person he encountered, but was unable to defeat him--even after beheading him. The mysterious man offers to take Ciarán under his wing and train him in order to get revenge on those who took everything from him. Ciarán accepts, and when he gets older, he feels the time is upon him to exact his revenge.
Characters
(Note: As usual, these do not represent the imagined characters in their capacity, but a brief overview of a few pivotal characters that push the narrative forward.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ciarán--A young man home was devastated by followers of a demon. He only escaped because of his magical abilities; unbeknownst to him, he was a changeling (the only visual sign of this being his dark blue hair that to the untrained eye looks black). He was raised in the Emerald castle, but often travels trying to find the cult members who can lead him to the demon that took everything from him, and he'll kill them all. While he comes off as casual and confident, he's slightly unstable, emotionally-speaking (and perhaps mentally, but who can blame him?) His fight against the cult is somewhat self-destructive, with the implication that a part of him doesn't care what happens if he loses the fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Síomha--A warrior leading the charge against the cultists, she represents the human side to Ciarán's supernatural nature. She finds Ciarán to be a useful ally. Of course, she recognizes his dangerous nature, and they frequently come into conflict.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Neirin--The name the demon was given by his worshipers. He is known as the magic devourer, and his very existence causes decay and fear in all around him. Now that he's in the mortal plane, he exists only to drag the land into disorder, draining the life and magic from the land.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flaithrí--Colloquially known as the harbinger of spring or the "Spring King" because everywhere he walks, flowers seem to grow (plus he's green, so there's that). No one is entirely certain where he came from. He mentioned to Ciarán that he and his sister came from a long-forgotten world, unable to speak the native language for many years. His magic is beyond anything that Ciarán can imagine, and he is seemingly immortal. While he promised to train Ciarán in the art of magic to get his revenge, he can see that in his heart, he is much more honest and gentle than he lets on. He just hopes that when it comes down to it, Ciarán won't lose himself in his trauma.
Songs
Can't Say No--When his family is murdered by the cultists, Ciarán wanders the land. He comes across Flaithrí, and in a rage, decapitates him. However, Flaithrí survives and puts a faint scar on the back of his head in response. He sees the pain in Ciarán's eyes and offers to take in the new orphan, to which Ciarán meekly accepts.
I've Never Felt It--Seeing how his desire for revenge has started to harm others, Flaithrí tries to firmly dissuade Ciarán against seeking revenge, which Ciarán is shocked and devastated to hear, explaining that he hasn't felt happy in a long time until he felt like he was making progress on his quest.
Like an Animal--Síomha gives a speech to her warriors that they must hunt down and defeat the cultists before they can summon the demon, concerned that they may already be too late.
Unsung--Ciarán has nightmares about the terrors Neirin will unleash, as well as reliving the destruction of his home. When he left Flaithrí, Ciarán was told that he might be a changeling, and he starts to dream of the realm of the fairies.
I've Never Felt It (Reprise)--Ciarán speaks with Síomha about not being able to find Flaithrí after leaving him, no longer remembering the way to the Emerald Castle. He wonders if it's his destiny to be abandoned, and Síomha wonders if there's any true way to stop Neirin.
The Demon Inside--The cult members sing about summoning Neirin, about the destruction and carnage he will bring, with the added benefit that lyrically the song also parallels Ciaran's inner turmoil.
Dreams--Ciarán has managed to defeat Neirin, and with the magic stolen by the cultists restored, he plans on finding his fairy family.
Hope you enjoyed it! As with the other specific cultures I covered in my other fanmade Disney movie posts, I don't know much about Celtic cultures, and hope Disney would do MUCH more research than me (though having and Irish director helps)! Next up is my superhero fanmade Disney musical. Still working out a title.

Canon Worldstate Questions!
tytyty @omgkalyppso i did um. accidentally post this way too early & hastily delete it, sooo let's try again...
1. your Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor's opinion on Orlais?
vidreu aeducan: for a long time, dru understood orlais almost exclusively in terms of trade, with the chantry lyrium trade being orzammar's economic lifeblood. that made sense to her. orlesian politics do not. while conceptually familiar with the game from her noble upbringing, when she gets her first taste of it in-person after the end of the fifth blight, it is Wayyyy too much for her. orzammar's politics are also cutthroat and status-based, but there's at least (purportedly) this shared understanding and cultural investment in values that dru respects like family honor. the game is absurd to her. the fashion sensibilities are even worse. the overwrought extravagance of the nobility is appalling. the social scripts are opaque and convoluted,. the social pressure is overwhelming.
dru makes like one debut as the famed hero of ferelden then gets shitfaced with loghain to recover and never shows their face in orlesian high society again.
cyrus hawke: he wants to see the empire fall, but until then, at least the aesthetics are fun
yiseeril trevelyan: adores it. everything is ridiculous, and nothing matters at all and everything matters immensely. she wonders often what her life could've been like if she had stayed in ghislain
8. who do they hate the most, and do they have an arch-nemesis
vidreu aeducan: dru's baseline attitude toward everyone is indifference, and that + unhealthy dose of pragmatism makes it hard to hate even people she really should despise like uh. bhelen. or loghain. but they do want to kill flemeth. and i think they could've done it if they had been in the fade for her toying with kieran shit. powers of a goddess be damned.
cyrus hawke: he can't pick just one person. he hates meredith, cullen, aveline, loghain, sister petrice, grand cleric elthina, cassandra, celene, gaspard.................. no arch-nemesis, just a lot of terrible people with power
yiseeril trevelyan: yiseeril is kind of a fake hater asjdpofjf she can be quite casually mean but that's just because it's fun and even the people she should be angry at (the templar who made her tranquil, the first enchanter who lied about her not being harrowed, everyone who took advantage of her while she was tranquil, hell even the maker for permitting her to suffer like this) she. isn't. because she doesn't want to look her hurt directly in the eye and acknowledge it, she just wants to move past it (though she isn't above a little bloody vengeance against that templar when sera tracks him down to try to make her feel better)
10. are they good horse riders?
vidreu aeducan: they would be an excellent griffon rider, but they can't get most animals to trust them.
cyrus hawke: my heart says yes, because it fits into the knight aesthetic so perfectly, but he would get too stressed out about protecting it in battle... if it's just for transportation/to be DramaticTM, it's fine, but in combat, he prefers to be on his own two feet
yiseeril trevelyan: her family had her in a saddle before her magic manifested, and she finagled her way into a pastoral outing or two while in Ghislain. the skills came back to her quickly in inquisition.

12. attitude toward Mabari?
vidreu aeducan: alistair is convinced for most of the game that dru likes gorim (yes that is what they named the ostagar mabari) more than anyone else in the party, and he's RIGHT. that's their emotional support tether to the past they've been severed from and whom they can show weakness around without fear of reproach, thank you very much!
i also just. like the idea of her mabari also being... a lil more blight haunted than what we get in-game. he did swallow darkspawn blood, after all. sometimes zevran swears he hears them chittering to one another at the edges of camp in the wee hours of the morning.
cyrus hawke: cyrus has a mild phobia of dogs, after a guard sicced one on him as a teen. not a fan.
yiseeril trevelyan: she thinks they're boring adfojpafwe like they're Fine but a real pet should be horse-adjacent and hilarious. like a dracolisk or nuggalope.
14. who are they closest to from their family?
vidreu aeducan: the aeducans were not a close family by any definition of the word, but she and bhelen come out the other side of origins inextricably and painfully bound to one another, genuinely close and strangely caring (the bit in halamshiral in inq about the king depleting orzammar's coffers trying to find the hero of ferelden always gets me...) but also always a few strong drinks away from some light-to-heavy attempted fratricide.
cyrus hawke: it was malcolm, once upon a time. his relationship with leandra has always been strained, and there's a certain distance between him and his siblings (bethany's magic, carver's independence), but cyrus deeply admired his father and has always tried to emulate him. more than that, cyrus felt that malcolm understood and supported him, treating him with gentleness and empathy when his protectiveness and earliest inclinations toward sacrifice got him hurt.
yiseeril trevelyan: no one; yiseeril's family was embarrassed by her magic, and while she was in ghislain, the only person she kept in contact with was her mother. when she was made tranquil, yiseeril presumed that the transfer to ostwick was arranged by her and spent years expecting her visit. it was only later that she discovered the transfer was made by a rival of the trevelyan family to humiliate them further.
24. what languages can they speak?
vidreu aeducan: King's Tongue and Dwarvish
cyrus hawke: the King's Tongue and bits and pieces of Elvish (in addition to prayers, Merrill has taught him a lot of swears, bc it's good for him to vent his anger)
yiseeril trevelyan: King's Tongue, conversational in Orlesian
