I played the the book 3 demo of “Keeper of the Sun and Moon” for a few of the routes now. First of all, ouch. Second of all: I think it’s great storytelling that the author really allows the MC to be properly impacted and traumatized by everything that’s happened to them and the pressure they’re under as the Keeper. I feel like interactive fiction especially doesn’t always really explore that, so it’s been neat (albeit painful) to read.

I also love media that portrays the Chosen One trope in a realistic light and shows how physiologically damaging it can be on a person.

1- When did you start playing Choices? What was the first book you played? 

2017. Most Wanted.

2- When and why did you join Choices fandom?

In 2023, after playing Blades 2. I spent years without playing Choices, but this book really inspired me to create some art, and I began interacting with the fandom after that. 

3- How did you pick your blog name?

It’s a combination of my nickname, Mavi, which is short for Maria Vitória, and “draws”, since this is (mostly) an art blog.

4- Pull up the first post in your archive, and tell us about it!  

It's a drawing of the main characters and my MC from an interactive fiction called Keeper of the Sun and Moon (@keeperofthesunandmoon), which was my first digital drawing ever. I was fascinated with this IF and wanted to share how I envisioned these characters.

5- Do you write fanfiction, create fan art, or are you one of those really gifted people who do both? 

I create fan art.

6- How long have you been creating for Choices and for any other fandoms?

I’ve been creating for Choices since late 2023, and for other fandoms (such as KOTSAM, Golden and TWC) since 2021.

7- What is your favorite Choices book, and what is your favorite Choices book to create for?

Honestly, I can’t pick just one—The Elementalists, Endless Summer, and It Lives in the Wood are some of my favorites. But Blades is definitely my favorite book to create for.

8- Share your first Choices fanfic or fan art that you posted with us. Do you still like it, or would you change it if you were creating it today?

I absolutely love this piece and wouldn’t change anything about it. This was the drawing that helped me establish my current art style.

9- What is your favorite piece of fiction or art that you created? 

This drawing of Tyril and my MC from Blades. I think it was the most emotional piece I’ve ever created and I’m really proud of it.

10- Do you have a fic/art that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to do well but found it could use a little more love?

I think this drawing of f!UB from TWC did exceedingly well, and it was even noticed by the author—which I never ever ever expected.

I think this drawing of Valax could use a little more love.

11 - Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs or in your writing?

I see a lot of myself in Theodora, my MC from Golden (an IF by @milaswriting). Her personality and internal struggles are very much my own, as well as her interests—like myself, she’s a law student (I’m currently an attorney) with a passion for fashion.

12 - What element of writing/art do you struggle with most?

Backgrounds. I’m much more comfortable drawing people.

13 - Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?

Currently not.

14 - If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to see your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you show them first? 

I already showed my work to my boyfriend and many of my friends a long while ago. But if I had to pick an art piece to show them today, it would probably be this one —I’m really proud of how these wings turned out.

15 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing or art? Are there any artists that influence you?

I don’t really have an artist that inspired me. Most of my art style comes from my love of makeup.

16 - Which one of your creations would you like to see a fiction written about? 

This pre-battle moment from Blades 2 between Tyril and MC.

17- Do you write original fiction or create non-fandom art? 

No.

18-  What other hobbies do you have?

I really love makeup, and I consider myself to be a great makeup artist. I’m also a huge film nerd.

Aubrey is my softest mc! She is very sweet and kind but she can also be pretty shy and gets anxious easily. She is majoring in healing!!! Really enjoys her classes a lot!!

mmm Aubrey also likes baking and taking pictures. She owns different cameras and her room (both back home and at college) are full of pictures of her friends, family and small things she loves or that remind her of something. Oh and she also loves flowers!! her favorites are baby breath and orchids. Oh and she has a very good relationship with both of her parents and owns a cat!!!

Irina is the mum friend!!! She is extremely responsible (tries at least) and cares very deeply about those around her; always making sure her friends have eaten or are safe and whenever they get hurt because of her she feels responsible u.u She is also a nerd!!! loves readling, loves learning, studies a lot and wants to do well in classes!!! Irina is majoring in Ritual Magic and Potions and considering becoming a teacher or a scholar if she survives college lmao. Loves loves loves plants to the point she has a small greenhouse back home!!

Irina is super close with her mum but has some daddy issues she is trying to work through asjhaska. She can manipulate lightning, her wings are pure white and owns a pet dragon!!

Jenna is my spoiled brat!!!! very daddy’s girl!!!! Jenna is extremely smart (without the need of studying) and very cunning; loves annoying people and playing dumb to then make people look stupid. She can be cut-throat with people who hurt those she loves and lord, you don’t want her as an enemy! mmm she is majoring in Magical Technology!!!! We love a smart, educated, fashion knowledgeable and political queen!!!

Josie!!! my feral soul sucking baby!!! Just imagine the most terrible person ever and then multiply by 100 and you have Josie. I love them but they don’t have a single consideration for anyone other than like……two or three people. They are quite resentful towards the entire magical thing (mainly because they were taken out of their comfort zone and…constantly attacked). They don’t get on well with their parents but there is a special place of hate dedicated to their biological father kasjaka <3 Oh and they are majoring in Magic Theory (still super pissed they cant major in battle magic because “they are human” lmaoo)

And last but not least Nina!! My queen!!! I always struggle about what i should say about Nina because she has layers akasjaksj She seems very laid back and that nothing really bothers her; and in a way it does because she buries her feelings so deep until she becomes a time bomb lol and has very self-destructive tendencies. Would burn the world down if it means protecting those she loves!!! So she really struggles a lot with her public persona and “her real self”; she is pretty good at lying too and had commitment issues until leon (she still has some tho aksjaksja)

Before the events of the book she was considering majoring in art!! she is very talented and truly enjoys drawing and painting (and learning about art!!) but given that it wasn’t offered she went for Political science; a little because she didn’t know what to study and it was broad enough to cover multiple things but also because she is interested in the journalism side of it!!!

Nina loves her father, they are very close and have a very healthy relationship but absolutely hates Roxana and is scared of becoming like her. Oh and her cat is named Cordelia!!!

I was tagged by @stephschoices to create my OCs using this picrew. I also decided to do my @disenchantedif MCs.

In order: Sana Ahmed (Nephilim), Julia Coppola (Siren) and Farah Noor (Draca) Farah is originally my Drakaina MC from the KotSaM Trilogy but I recently decided that I'd use her here too, hence why on the bottom left she has purple draconic features which isn't a choice in Disenchanted (petition to add purple colouring options for Draca, please Dakota!!) And why she has black draconic features on the bottom right, since that is an option. She's romancing Harlow, since in Kotsam her chosen RO is Yakov. Apparently her type is 'people whose race have a reputation of being harbingers of death' lol. And for those of you who don't know, Sana's in the Vik/Theo Poly and Julia is romancing Avery.

"It just seems so unnatural being born together and dying apart," Mayari laughed quietly as she sat beside her brother, knees scraped and nose bloody. Maybe, they thought, maybe this whole keeper thing wasn't so bad.

The Zhangs, the first twin keepers in centuries, are what you can call...unwilling heroes. Their whole life was thrown out the window and everything they've achieved was useless in context to their new careers—if you could call it that. Born to Julian Anderson and Alexa Zhang, they've spent their whole life in Beijing and never expected their first day in America to be met with a gorgon attack. And hey, New Magi City newspapers and blogs, just a note: they'd rather be referred to as húlijīngs, thank you very much.

Mayari might say she's rather fond of Yakov while Apolaki will smile and say "it's complicated." but his golden-amber eyes will trail over towards Leon Dalton, checking to see if he was alright.

Mayari's red dragon, Marahuyo, is quite attached to Apolaki's hellhound puppy, Paraluman, often seen wrapping itself around the fluffy creature. Both interns for the Nephilim secretary and both also majoring in political science, although the residents of 601 arcana hall are victims to constantly hearing the two complain about the lack of performing arts courses.

When their lives were still normal and everything was right on track, they were both set to act as supporting characters in a major production. Whatever being a keeper is, it can never compare to being stars, they think. Constantly being hunted to death, being two keepers who were never meant to even be alive, they just wish everything was normal again. normal. what the fuck is normal again? That word tastes so unfamiliar now.

The update left me😭😭😭 i think i’m still processing it hhahahah. I think it’s gonna be a big game changer chapter, so i’m very excited about future updates! Especially because of the consequences it will leave, because the mc just can’t go back to normal after that! So i’m hoping we will get some nice roleplaying options out of it! Plus, as i said before: it gave me very “real or not real” from THG vibes, which I LOVE
