just worked out all of the hybrid species for rust because i felt like it (and I'm in the middle of writing about morphing day. idk if I'll even mention half of these but idc). took me an hour. anyways.

Phil - Carrion crow European, dark feathers, wikipediea had "passerine" in the first sentence and I thought it was kinda funny

Baghera - Gadwall I believe it exists in Switzerland (that's how I found it, at least--searching for swiss ducks, though this one isn't from there I don't think), the feathers on females are REALLY cool and yellow-ish

Cellbit - Brazilian Shorthair Had a list of cat breeds and their origins, ctrl+f for 'Brazil,' this was the only one. Saw the color pallet and went "yeah." The eyes are lowkey really fitting, he would wouldn't he

Bagi - Brazilian Shorthair Still works, I'd guess the siblings are the same breed

Tina - Thai Lilac Accidentally drew her with white ears for a chapter cover. Korats don't have white fur, but a lilac does. The first lilac was born from two korat parents, so it all worked out in the end

Mariana - White/Angel Tern Didn't even know they were also called Angel Terns until I started looking into them for this chapter tbh, I just needed a bird with white wings and the babies were cute. Terns are cool, I've been learning a lot about them for chapter 4

Sunny - Pyractomena Is firefly. idk how insect-people exist but whatever. I want her to glow

Roier - Mexican Flame-Knee Spider Not only is the name sick asf, so is the appearance. Goes with his color pallet really well

Jaiden - Conure Yeah its just Ari idk man

Quackity - Call Duck It starts out yellow, let's just say the feathers take a while to develop for him. The origins of this duck's name are what convinced me to make him this breed, especially for this fic

Rivers - Swedish Yellow I said she had yellow feathers chapter one so I had to find a yellow duck, whoops

Niki - Maine Coon Very popular cat breed in Germany, referred to as "gentle giants," they look awesome and fluffy so thumbs up

Rust Chapter 3 is Out!

Story Summary:

“Even the finest sword plunged into salt water will eventually rust.” -Sun Tzu -- Charlie has a lot of work to do. He has to maintain a questionable job with a familiar boss that has an unexplainable grudge against him, work more diligently than ever as a villain, keep his husband's many stressors at bay (despite him often being one of them), try to get rid of the information people have on his identity, worry about whoever the hell keeps stalking him, and--what's that? His marriage is starting to suffer the consequences? Oh. --

random facts about kyec because im really bored

charlie was initially going to be in a cafe rather than a jewelry store in the second chapter. dont remember why i changed it at first, but it became some decent foreshadowing i suppose

I made the summary before literally any cc drama, so it was originally Forever who was leading the heros under the name “President” and Wilbur who was taken later on. Honestly I prefer Baghera and Tubbo so much more so thank god I waited

I was gonna alternate between the names Charlie and Slime but lowkey just forgot to

I planned on having Angel forcibly unmask Decay while holding a blade to his throat. Didn’t know how to write them in a place where there wouldn’t be cameras though, nor did I have any good ideas for how to end a scene like that

I never actually finished my first summary, though I do know that Charlie originally was going to just say yes during the first proposal. I wanted to do a bit more to make it feel more real though, so we got chapter eight.

Cellbit was told in advance that Decay would be coming into his backyard to throw some files into the fire, he used s’mores as an excuse to have a campfire going. He only dragged Roier into it because he thought it’d be funny. He did, in fact, laugh, as Roier mourned the loss of his chocolate and marshmallows.

Apparently I originally had Tazercraft as their own vigilante duo

Actually wish I did this one: had the idea for a scene where, after Charlie leaves, Angel ends up seeing him out in the open, but he can’t do anything because he’s still in costume. I could have given them both little panic attacks and everything 💔

Despite the fact that Mechanic is the leader of the Soulfire Branch, Bellator is actually ranked #1 locally. Mechanic is either 2nd or 3rd I forgot

But there was this crazy accident that he caused, and he was so disgusted that the agency was trying to cover it up that he switched sides. Jeidndkxnjeos the cellbit lore goes so hard i just can’t find anywhere to pht it so u just gotta trust me

I had to write down every injury that each character had iver the course of the fic because I kept forgetting. are you sensing a pattern with me

Rust was originally going to have the exact same starting line of “Do you know why you’re here?” But I’m not creative enough to make a scene that works with that and also isn’t as repetitive

Mariana is a White Tern, Jaiden is a Conure, and Phil is a Crow. I got nothin else for ya. Don’t even know if Tina’s a Korat anymore because for some goddamn reason I drew her with white ears. Maybe her codename is a red herring and they paint her ears idk

i still dont know for sure if all of the quotes I used were actually Sun Tzu quotes or if the internet lied to me
