also happy new years to this image. what went through Obata's mind for him to think hey i can draw them sitting next to each other while eating on the jump cover. this illustration feels both peaceful and cursed to me but i hold it very close to my heart. technically, i know they already ate with each other in canon during the cafe scene but 1) they were having their usual intellectual battles in their head all the way through, and 2) i do recall that Light only drank a coffee, so it hardly counts. and then when Light lost his memories, he refused to eat the slice of cake Ryûzaki proposed to him. :(

yes lawlight eating with each other is very important to me. nonetheless if there's a scene where they do and that i forgot about please don't hesitate to remind me of it.

I feel like there was a just little queer baiting in Death Note, mainly with Misa x Rem and L x Light. It’s hard to imagine the implications weren’t intentional. It kind of annoys me that the tension between L and Light was never acknowledged a little by the characters in the anime. It was a missed opportunity for some funny and interesting banter. Even a little joke about it would have been enough. But that’s just me.
