Semi-related story-time. My aunt has dogs like this, bigass Great Pyrenees (now just one Pyr-Newfie mix, still a horse of a dog), and they live in an area with a fuckton of coyotes. These dogs frigging spoil for fights, even now that there’s just one left, she has zero problem about the logistics involved in dispatching a few coyotes for fun. Now one of this aunt’s late dogs was a pyr that had been rescued from a fighting ring, and Larry was the sweetest of girls, would absolutely cozy up to any living thing...except coyotes, they all got to be dinner for her. Once when visiting and walking Larry and Pegasus (a labramutt), we get interrupted in our stroll by four coyotes. I’m thinking, “oh, great, just great” and start waving my arms and doing the usual things to make coyotes go away. Pegasus, meanwhile, is just looking around like, “shit, fuck, what do we do. We’re supposed to do something---” and then Larry just kinda vaults over Pegasus, landing pretty as you please like some sort of fuzzy Wuxia icon, now standing between us and three of the four coyotes--the fourth had been kind of behind us and probably the reason Larry had been hanging back on her horse lead.

I’ve had dogs all my life, and seen them fight on occasion. I’ve never heard a noise like Larry. It wasn’t just a growl, it was a chainsaw being tossed into a woodchipper that was hooked up to a few amplifiers while every speaker in earshot played Children of Bodom at full blast. Two coyotes very quickly decided they had left pies in the oven. The other two now realize it is an even fight and vanish shortly thereafter, to help with the pies. I had to brace myself to stop Larry from following. I miss that horse-dog.

a list of things I've done wrong in the past week:

1. made a pitcher of sweet tea, forgot to stir in the sugar so it all melded together in the bottom and tasted like shit.

2. let my dog, a medium sized labramutt, into the house without realizing she was covered in dirt. the couch is a mess now.

3. can't sleep at night, so I sleep all day.

4. continue to forget to text my mom back daily, so she gets mad about it and brings up all the times I get annoyed with her when she doesn't respond.

5. forget to eat every day, surviving on only the bare minimum to keep me from feeling lightheaded

these may seem like nothing, but I'm falling apart at the seams and I just can't seem to do anything right.
