@labwebs liked for a small starter! For: Insomniac Peter
"It's been a while since I dropped by FEAST." Harry admits. "After everything with Li, I wonder how they're doing."
And if he hopes Peter knows more than he does, well, Harry has been busy, as of lately. Even if much of that was trying to hunt down one particular vigilante.

∗ 34﹕ sender is found by receiver somewhere they shouldn’t be . [tasm peter for harry] / @labwebs sent a MEME
There is a latent paranoia that existed in Harry before he took his life death into his own hands, rushing an experiment towards an end goal he could not have predicted. There were two things that might have happened, in his mind, when he injected the spider's venom into his bloodstream: he could have died, or he could have been cured. This middle ground, where he is both alive, but constantly fighting against his own body and mind is not what he would have thought plausible. Free from prison, a rehabilitated man as far as the world was concerned, he was no less paranoid today than he had been then.
Security alarms were set for each floor of Oscorp, and if anything was amiss, no matter the time, day or night, he was made aware. Harry did not sleep much these days, due less to the increasing sense of anxieties than his own new sickness. The constant falling into his genetic illness, recovering due to the venom, and a recycling the same system constantly. He was exhausted, and always in pain, and was it worth it even to be alive this way?
His company has done much to regrow from the ashes of his failures, and the new image he presented to the world, a man who had been led astray, infected by someone he had trusted (the story told that his own board of directors had led him down a dark path of experimentation, goaded by the memory of his late father - lies, lies, lies), and the subsequent madness of that infection causing him to act in anger, haste, murderous. His lament over the incident had won over the masses, but he was sure that Peter had not bought it.
Peter, who he had not seen, nor heard from, since his release. Not that he expected to see Peter. Still, for it to take Spider-Man this long to appear on his doorstep, or rather, within his office, searching for something, he was not sure. Had he been home, drink in hand, pretending he was going to sleep the evening away, he would have missed this. Such as it was, he was still in the building, though Peter might have planned that. Harry did not know what lay in his old friend's mind.
"If you've come to kill me, I'm not in the filing cabinet." The words are a jest, too little too late, reminiscent of their time as childhood friends. Harry is sure Peter sensed his presence before he was standing in the doorway, leaning against the frame as though he did not have a care in the world. If Spider-Man was there to kill him, he might almost welcome it, a respite from the agony of his daily life, the constant ascent and descent into madness in his mind. "Oscorp is an open book these days, Pete. You could have just searched whatever it is you're looking for online." Mostly true - they still had some security, but for now, he was treading cautiously. No need to rile the beasts when they were only just regaining their footing.
#labwebs#MUSE / Harry Osborn#[ sorry i be writing words now my bad ]#[ the blockquote making his initials that way is so funny to me ]#[ i was gonna re-edit it when i realized it but nah he a ho ]#[ left it a little ambiguous if you wanted him suited or not ]#[ harry is gonna act like they're chums and enemies at the same time regardless ]

"Hey kid," Peter swung down from his perch on top of the building. It was strange seeing alternate New York where things were so high-tech in the weirdest of ways. Stark Tech had really done a number on things, it was like he was staring at his home thirty-some-odd years in the future.
"How're things?"

@labwebs cont. from here
There's a pause, and Peter had to resist the urge to voice his guesses as to what happened. Because putting it all down to generic canon event-style 'yep, that's normal', wasn't going to make the other feel any better.
So, he pushes the nachos over to the other guy, and leans back. "What happened?"

@labwebs asked: “ how long was i out ?? ” [from Insom Peter]
Harry glanced at him at last, even if he'd been polite enough not to turn until he spoke. Then again, knowing Peter, who knew when he'd last gotten some sleep.
"Only three years, don't worry." Came Harry's answer, joking with his most matter-of-fact tone as he drafted the last mail he'd been working on. "But life hasn't changed that much, don't worry." He added, closing the laptop.
And then, glancing at Peter and not really expecting much of an answer, he spoke again.
"Everything alright?"

At the end of the day, he was still a kid. That was never more apparent than now. As the mask was pulled off, gone too was the sense of power and responsibility that the suit projected, replaced by Miles Morales, a teenager desperate to seek advice from the only person he believed could help. "I-I think I've messed up, Pete. Big time." / @labwebs / starter call

"Did you expect me to gasp? Wow! You're Spider-Man!" She barely looked up from her nails, humming. "You're like the 250th I've met."

@labwebs said : ❛ don't ask. ❜ [mcu peter] , two word sentence starters.
two moments pass between request and answer ——— one moment to consider his options , the second ... well , was only really used for effect. this spider-man is a good guy in bucky's books , smart , deserving to be treated as seriously as the rest of those avengers. but between the spider and the back entrance to an old warehouse , decades of his own experience urged to question motives. plans. less doubt , more skepticism than anything.
“ there'll time for questions later. “ peter can count on that with absolute certainty. “ go ahead then. i'll follow your lead. “

"Whelp, I'm gonna be honest with you. This is ONE HELL of a mess you made here." He honestly didn't even know it was possible for someone to erase and entire universes memory of a singular person. Peter honestly really didn't like the sound of a Spider-man who didn't have even the bare bones of the support system they normally tended to have.
"Tell ya what, How about a little break? No one remembers you right? And i'm sure the Avengers and whatever else you've got running around can handle New York for awhile." He was offering the kid a chance to get away, just for a little bit.
He was sure MJ wouldn't mind if he let the kid crash on their couch. That was of course if the teen wanted to come with to being with. Peter knew better than anyone that sometimes any version of himself can be pretty stubborn.

Harry did remember that episode, or maybe his mind was conflating an mixing other episodes: he didn't know, and he didn't think it mattered that much. Not when Harry only looked at sleep to complain of the hours of it took and to be glad the serum let him skip on far too many of those and keep going forward with what he'd needed, even if looking back that had been far from healthy.
"I don't think the crew really needed much prompting to start acting erratically, on some episodes." He pointed out, however, mostly teasing, before his focus was on Peter's words, and his job, and truly on the idea of him as a teacher.
Knowing him, however? It fit. It fit so well, because Peter was enthusiastic and loved science and well, Midtown was a nice place.
"Oh, now I need to know if it's still there." Harry still laughed. "I'm still impressed it did not explode." He admitted. "But hey, we got it up and working properly the following year."
Looking back, Harry had always been far too fond of dangerous science, and even he had to admit that.
"It's something to do with different parts of the brain cycling or what have you- just don't ask me specifics right now," he chuckled, eating a few more bites. "Sort of like that Next Generation episode where none of them were achieving REM sleep so the entire crew started to lose it a bit, y'know?"
It was an area he'd done some study in for his degree, but- ironically- his own lack of sleep was making it difficult to recall and explain the specifics. Though even fully exhausted he'd still be able to make a connection to Star Trek- or even Doctor Who or some Star Wars stuff if the subject suited it.
He did sometimes miss doing work more connected to what he'd studied in college but... the whole 'accidentally helped his mentor and employer to become an eight-armed super villain' thing. His time at Octavius Industries was never fun to explain at job interviews, but he'd been there too long to leave it off entirely.
"I gotta double check which days I'm subbing, too- Midtown this week. Chemistry. Gonna have to check and see if that scorch mark from our junior year science fair project is still there."

@labwebs asked: "Some things are better left unsaid" [from Peter 3]
"Yeah, no." Harry replied, his snort only taking some of the edge of his words. "I'd normally agree on principle, but I know what leaving some things unsaid has led me to. And where it almost got me."
Where it had also led his oldest friend, despite how things were not really as comfortable as they used to be. How could they be?
"Some things might be better left unsaid," he settled for, "but far less than we'd think. And you won't change my mind on this." He added. "Have your secrets, I certainly keep mine. But I think we all here know the cost they can have."

"So, good news, Aunt May signed us up to help with the dunk tank at the block party!" MJ grinned, clapping her hands together as if determined to drown out any sound of protest Peter might make. "Before you say no they were short handed and we're going to get some SERIOUS brownie points with her for stepping in. And ... well, I was thinking ... maybe these are going to be OUR neighbors someday. Far, far in the future but ... it'd be nice, if we ever took over the house from her, to already have good relationships with the people on the block. Don't you agree?"

"Something like that." He glanced around, filtering through the normal for the unusual. Superman spots what he believes to be one of the spider bots in question clinging to the underside of a car. "I think you might have some luck 25 blocks away. You're looking for a black ford expedition. Any chance that the bot is clinging to an ominous SUV by chance?"

"Not that I can tell. I mean the spider-bots that I've built over the years have never had any sort of surveillance ability and I've only ever put webshooters and low-energy sonic blasts in them for clearing away debris if it's in a spot I can't get to. Whoever made these seems to have similar ideas. Why? Do you have like x-ray vision or something?" he asked with a chuckle.

The BABY in question BOUNCED in her spot! Both her hands REACHING out towards the new SPIDER, the baby babble going at full speed!
