Preseason Game 1 Leafs vs Sens | 9.22.24

Why yes, I did spend half an hour gathering dead leaves and individually washing them for a dyeing project.

Don’t be deceived by the angle, this is a large pot full of several inches of crushed leaves.

They all come from a tree in my front yard. I’m 90% sure it’s a tree in the camphor family, because when the leaves are broken, they have a pungent spicy smell.

I’ve tested some swatches, but I’ve never done a larger dye batch with them. This is ~400 g of hand spun wool yarn that I mordanted with alum earlier today, and if things go right, I’ll end up with a sort of reddish brown.

I’ll post an update once I’ve let the yarn process and dry.

Do you all have any ideas for what I should make? I’m in a knitting mood, so I’m thinking hat or scarf, but suggestions are welcome.

i am so stressed about a hard conversation i have to have today but i had a little faith in my fellows restored when i went out to unflood my street and almost everyone driving through actually did slow down and avoid splashing me when i waved at them. some of them even turned so they didn't go through the intersection at all. getting splashed is the worst part of unflooding the street and it always seems like people do it because they just don't give a shit. but maybe they do it because they don't see the water? idk. i am handing out benefits of the doubt like candy. thank u everyone for i remain unsplashed.

The brutal contrast of Lava Lamp instantly agreeing to stay in the castle vs Syaoran at the start of Tsubasa having the same offer but continually refusing it, because he didn’t think it was proper. 

And maybe that’s a natural difference between different sets of people in slightly different scenarios, or maybe it’s the general decline from 'Good' things into less good things when the timeline was interfered with. Like how previously Fujitaka was king and happily married to Nadeshiko, but the next time around Clow was king and Nadeshiko was nowhere to be seen, with Fujitaka already passed away. Like how Sakura used to be involved in purity rituals in the reservoir, but then it was just a ruin being excavated and nothing to do with Sakura. 

I mostly just have a growing list of suspicions but let’s put a pin in it for now.
