me: we should get into hydrology or ecology or something geography related. we are good at geography and love stupid bullshit like that. its a viable career path with lots of options and historically speaking people do tend to be happier when they can afford to eat

also: okay but have you considered. going all-in on creative writing with a focus on programming and music design so that you could spend all your time creating video games in a basement somewhere

me: no i think i would like to have a stable income i think

also me: forsake everything to get into that interactive fiction course right fucking now

if escape rooms as team building exercises became popular im not sure if id be more excited or terrified

#if it isnt already anyway.. i can see it happening as a school frosh thing. idk if it would catch on as a workplace thing #i kind of find the concept of being locked in with strangers and working to find a way out weirdly exhilarating though #at least compared to icebreakers cause i dont have to spend 10 minutes racking my brain for something to blurt out abt myself #as a bonus u could like. put people into groups and give prizes to whoever escapes first second third etc. apparently they also do themed #escape rooms.. maybe let people pick a theme? or voluntary sign up? actually this would be really fun for smth like a blind friend date #although if i found out i was locked in a room with an online friend id be too excited to actually escape LOL #ive never done an escape room before so sadly i cant speak from experience. its like up there on things i want to try next to rug tufting #workshop and visiting new art exhibits or conventions. i seriously need to get out more if it wasnt for the horrors <- school and anxiety #i was planning to invite cass to a drop-in art workshop in town but neither of us could go bc typography is making us go thru hell and back #AND THEY HAD A BUTTON MACHINE TOO #im nostalgic bc i miss working in groups and not being awkward abt it or worrying abt schedule conflicts #i realized that i learn best in groups and its a little corny but i like sharing ideas and talking through a problem #in elementary i could just sit down with friends for review and come out of it energized *and* more familiar with the material #and i could technically still do it now. but as adults we're more picky abt who we work with on top of being way more busy outside school #maybe im lonely. im shy and grew up not talking to ppl unless i absolutely have to so its hard to make friends on my own i guess #only thing getting me thru it is telling myself that humans like helping and that my cringe is overblown in my head. but its hard #hence the escape rooms. i have been able to talk to 2(!!) people though!! mostly abt school stuff but im glad to be on friendly terms #i dont really know how to be happy these days cause im constantly scaring myself abt my portfolio and finding places to work #not being ambitious is part of not wanting to put energy into something that wont work out while also not having the passion to do literall #anything else.. i should probably talk to my counsellor ugh #yapping

I was tagged by @petxina to do this picrew and talk about my interests and hobbies, perdona per haver trigat tant :')

As for hobbies and interests, I think anyone who follows this blog knows I have too many of those...I obviously really like languages, which is what I first got Tumblr to post about, basically anything from more technical linguistics to language learning to larger societal processes of language use! I love the IPA I love historical linguistics I love morphology I love discourse analysis I love anthropological linguistics etc etc. Aside from that, I also love music, I listen to it all the time and I love to sing (especially folk songs/group sings/singing with friends in a wholly amateur way), and I play piano and violin sometimes. I'm also into worldbuilding, I've had the brainworms for the last several years and love to invent weird worlds to dissociate from reality yay! And I love tiny stuff, I have a whole world of tiny animal figurines in my room that I've had since I was a kid and I'm hoping to build it into a tiny city someday. That's more than enough interests so we'll pause there, but I am incapable of being normal so know that there are many more things I could list alas :')

#I’m tired of feeling stupid all the time at this jobbbbb #I’ve made a few tiny mistakes with formatting in the past couple of weeks because my attention has been split #(which means my attention to detail is NOT what it usually is)#so my boss signed me up for an online training on using proper firm styles and I just. that isn't my issue #I don’t even use firm document styles in my current role. that’s for people who deal with legal documents and I don’t do that. lol.#the issues I’ve had are like… I edited and sent along an office closure template that the facilities manager sent me #and I didn’t clock that he’d sent it to me in aptos instead of calibri because I lowkey have font blindness for all of the bland ones #so I got an email back from my manager that said ‘hi Molly. not sure why the font below is aptos. can you please change to calibri? thanks.#(which is in my opinion a very silly email to send because it took her longer to type that out than to just change it herself but whatever)#(I know that she sent it specifically so I would know that it was an issue)#but like. mistakes like that don’t mean that I need to learn about the firm document styles in word.#ADDITIONALLY I could only lock in for part of the training (thank goodness it isn’t very relevant to my current role bc I missed the middle #because I didn’t have the docX add-on in word which was necessary to import firm styles #so I spent the middle portion of the training session going through my ribbon options and add-ons and toggling with things independently #until I got what I needed #ANYWHORE #I am tired of feeling dumb. I’m not dumb. I’m curious and good at investigative work/problem solving when left to my own devices #I’m just a bit fried lately and I would love if my life would settle down for 4 minutes so I could focus up #also let me be so clear I don’t have beef with this manager. she’s the manager I’m actually okay with and I hate disappointing her #my other manager can kick rocks 😭 she should not have been given an assistant and she’s making my life hell #I think I’m gonna go to IT dad Scott on the 34th floor today bc he is always nice to me #and yesterday he clapped me on the shoulder and told me that he’s been here for like 9 months now and he still uses the excuse that he’s ne #and he encouraged me to also use this as an excuse #my stuff #ignore this #I am going to be so real though for a moment… I think I need a big hug?
