A batch that’s (almost) entirely JDNext! The hats on Cameron and Valentine were a fun challenge. I would rate the batch difficulty as a 5/10. And making Leda again made me angry all over again at the fact that we didn’t get Sweet Dreams. 🙃

This Leda variant puts me at the 600-coach mark, so here’s a milestone pic of coaches 501-600! A quick reminder— if you want to see the other coaches I’ve made, I tag all my bead coach posts with #pixel coaches.

BONUS: I remade Calypso and Icona Shard, two coaches I made last year before my skills really took off. I tried to focus on their appearances in Provenza and Telephone respectively. (Originals on left, remakes on right.)

Makes me little sad when I remember b.orderlands is hella bigoted sometimes because I genuinely love so many of the characters they botched/forgot about due to bias..... Kat Jr, Yvette, Fiona, Sasha, Aurelia, Mordecai to some extent, Nisha, Helena Pierce, Captain Scarlett, The Calypsos, and you know what, Leda too. So much lost potential because they want to prioritize all the wrong things and analyze None of them. Like sometimes I get mad Kat got like 30 minutes of screentime and question why they wouldn't utilize him more, but then I remember this is the same team that made big game hunt (antiblack and antinative) and the enemies in pirates booty (orientalist) and I go Ohhhhh yeah these people like are white and stupid I forgot....

Some Warrior!Penelope ideas

Okay so just quick let me say, I don’t really like to swap the gods out just because then it affects the whole Trojan War?? But ignoring that, I wanna include the gods who would be in this au’s version of God Games plus some other things? (With Ares as her mentor btw)

The gods I think would appear would be: Dionysus, Artemis, Aphrodite, Athena, Zeus, then Hera. And in that order.

Dionysus: He wasn’t paying attention. He’ll just half ass it, so he probably just brings up how she couldn’t save Melantho from the cyclops. (Bonus: Melantho was one of Penelope’s servants in the Odyssey and she takes the role of Polites, no I don’t care that the popular switcheroo is Circe)

Artemis: Artemis would liken the sacrifice of Iphigenia (or I guess it’s Orestes in this au) to the killing of Andromache’s son. I’m not sure exactly, but yeah, just really really fickle Artemis.

Aphrodite: Probably the same reason, but in my headcanon, one, Penelope’s mom is a Naiad so she can’t die(?) and two, I don’t really think Icarius (her dad) and Penelope had a great relationship, so I always imagine Penelope was cared for by Leda. So she’d probably mention something about Leda I guess idk.

Athena: She would argue that, because she stole the Palladium from Troy (with god knows who, maybe Clytemnestra idk), she deserves whatever punishment the gods have given her.

Zeus: She’s not fuckable enough no I’m just kidding— (I actually don’t know so help)

Hera: No. that’s the answer, no. Until she gets to beat up Ares haha then it leaves on a cliffhanger lmao.

Bonus, for Thunder Bringer, instead of Hera sending down a lightning bolt to smite the crew, she inflicts them with madness? I’m not too sure how that would go, but like I just imagine that they kind of just destroyed their ship because they were all mad. (Madness Bringer)

Also, just for some general other information:

Melantho = Polites.

Antinous = Calypso

Calypso = Antinous

All of Penelope’s encounters with monsters and gods are the same. Except, Amphitrite is the one angry with Penelope (the unserious reason is because Poseidon is too lazy to go deal with her so Amphitrite deals with Penelope instead + Polyphemus was her fav step kid lmao). And Antinous is swapped with Calypso. I would’ve kept Calypso on Ogygia but then the suitors of Odysseus felt weird. Like I just can’t imagine Antinous leading a bunch of other men to marry another man. So that’s mostly just cultural/historical reasons I guess, but if not for that, I probably wouldn’t have swapped them.

I have a theory about Captain Crimson, other characters, and his relation with the main lore

First of all, and as usual, I hope you have fun reading this, this character has a lot of things about his story that are open to interpretation and this is how it works in my mind.

I'll start by recapping that within the lore, there are many references to Greek mythology, especially in names (Leda, Calypso, Triton). This is an important point cause my theory is also based on one of the most famous stories in this mythology

That's right, ladies, gentlemen and everyone in between, I have a theory that the character of Captain Crimson is based on... Odysseus

Obviously, I'm not going to go through all the myths about this character for a theory, but this came to me for the following reasons:

It would mean that Plum is his Penelope, and I find that very sweet c':

Basically, his story is about him making a journey with his crew where some gods intervene, and in the end, he is the only survivor 👀

He is represented by the King of Clubs card and Odysseus was the king of Ithaca (Actually that's not related but I remembered that fact haha)

And because I love Epic, and every time I read his name plays in my mind the chorus of Captain🗣

So based on my theory 🤓☝️, this links him to other characters like The Forgotten Queen, who could be an allusion to Scylla. If this story has a possible representation of Penelope then they need their Telemacus and thanks to the JD team we are going to propose Jack, although there is a big BUT here bc I remembered that there is another important child in the story, Astyanax, but it depends on the version of the story, in some the one who throws the child from a tower is Pyrrhus, in others it is Odysseus and in others he survives, so I like to think that Jack could be a representation of both children and that is the reason why he ends up growing up in another place but is the son of Plum and Crimson, although I could not think of the reason why they separate from the child, but I like the idea that Jack is from Melosia and that is the reason why Leda took him with her to Eternyx and she calls him her "treasure" (remembering that what the crew was looking for on the island was a treasure, coincidence?) but that shit sounds like "the power of friendship" haha so it could also be that it was dangerous to take the child on the trip and they had to leave him in the care of other people and the trip extended longer than estimated

Well that was all I could come up with for this theory, I admit that Idk where I got this information about Roman mythology maybe that comes from the Greek version or Roman version or some book or EPIC or Percy Jackson or from a video by Pascu & Rodri or if I made it up hahaha help me correct if I put any incorrect information

Leda Calypso, clone daughter of the god-queen Tyreen and (used to be) heir to the C.O.V

Leda's conception was kind of a weird one to put it lightly......

Let me explain: back when the C.O.V was at large, one of the fanatics came up to Tyreen and asked her for some samples like her hair, saliva, blood, and dead skin. When asked why, the fanatic said something about attempting to clone their god-queen so she’ll never die or something like that.

Tyreen just laughed at first but she still gave the fanatic some of her hair from a brush, all the while not taking it too seriously (though she’ll admit, it does sound cool).

However that same fanatic happened to have his hands on some research notes that belong to a dead Hyperion scientist that mentioned attempting to clone Handsome Jack.

This fanatic just happened to be one of Tyreen's biggest stalkers and has everything you'd expect (from stealing her trash for a shrine to even watching her sleep at night and record her snoring) and wanted to make a clone so he could date her (which luckily didn't happened).

Unlike the clone Jack, Tyreen’s clone was a lot more successful, sort of.......

Along with missing an arm, Leda was a baby instead of a full grown clone. After the “death” of their beloved queen, a group of C.O.V loyalists attempted to raise Leda to become their next god-queen to get back at the raiders.

Unlike Tyreen, Leda is nothing like her mother. While Ty is loud, stubborn and loves the spotlight; Leda is soft spoken, calm and hates the attention. In fact she hates the fanatic for many reasons one of which is that they won't allow her to be her own individual and forced her to literally be like her mom.

One night, Leda stumbled upon the Crimson Raiders radio station while Moxxi's talk show was broadcasting. During a call-in segment Leda call went through and she spilled a lot of info about some of the C.O.V loyalists along with the location of their hideout.

The next day the Raiders broke in and trashed the place, killing most of the loyalists and discovering Leda herself. Not wanting to leave her, the Raiders took the kid in and is now resisting in Sanctuary III under Moxxi's care.

I swear my backstory for Night Swan makes total sense (/j) here's a helpful infographic-

"Wait isnt that Plum-" yeah yeah Plum, Leda Nox, same person. All the same person. "Leda Nox", the bewitching ballerina from Eternyx, was always built on a lie.

Anyway let's just go song by song lol

Burn: Plum came from old money, money that was starting to run dry. Her parents expected her and her sister to both marry into wealth, being "old fashioned" like that. While she didn't like it, Plum initially tried to obey these wishes, and her dance in Burn was meant to impress a certain someone.

When I Grow Up: Plum's secret wishes to become rich and famous on her own terms, instead of simply marrying the right guy and living in easy obscurity.

Crying Blood: After leaving her family to find her own fortune, Plum lands a job at a diner. And she's unhappy. Unhappy because her family would never accept her the way she was. Eager to find some way to get back at them, particularly her sister.

Jump In The Line: Plum after she meets Captain Crimson and becomes a pirate. Their "adventures" revolve around robbing people on the Melosian coastline, which sets them at odds with Triton and Calypso. And let's just say, Plum has every reason to get on their bad sides anyway.

Dance All Nite: One of Leda Nox's first performances as Leda Nox/Night Swan, long before she was known or renowned under that name. After the incident in the Skull Cavern, she changed. She changed quite a bit, with a new purpose and new magic.

Sexy Girl, Te Dominar, and Cool For The Summer: Various other performances by Leda/Night Swan. These three in particular were ones where she met Cygnus, forming a connection with one of Eternyx's wealthy and powerful elites.

MAIN VERSE;

My main verse is generally set about halfway through Borderlands 3. The Children Of The Vault have been an active cult for a few years now and the Calypsos are streaming on nearly every television and radio station on Pandora. The Twin Gods are a household name. Tyreen has just recently stolen the powers from local folk hero, the Firehawk, making her twice as powerful as before. Troy has even more recently stolen the powers from siren Maya, and is still learning what all of those powers entail and how to control them. He remains submissive to his sister, for now, but as he comes into his new powers they start to go to his head.

REAL WORLD VERSE;

Troy and Tyreen Calypso were born and raised deep in the Amazon rainforest to two lost adventurers, Typhon and Leda Deleon. After their mother's death, their father intended to keep them there for their entire lives, safe from the dangers of civilization.

At 16, the twins repaired the long rotting truck that had once left the Deleons stranded and left for the nearest town. From there, they fended for themselves, sneaking onto trains and buses and traveling the world, scamming and stealing to survive.

It wasn't long before they realized just how easy people were to manipulate; the twins started a cult. Lacking the magical abilities from canon, the twins turn to more mundane ways of stealing power from others. They begin manipulating, intimidating, and blackmailing high profile people across the globe. Next stop, world domination.
