somewhere during writing the No Wu AU my choice to make Jay a serpentine evolved from "this will be a very dramatic moment and I will save it for several hundred chapters in probably" to "yeah this is one of the shittiest predicaments they'd have to deal with and he'll scare away Cole's dad anyways my sense of humor is fucked up" to "actually this is kinda like a lobotomy for him at times. It's like taking his UwU personality from the Wildbrain era, mixing this with the fact that like in official canon so much of his character revolves around loving Nya, and just. Cranking it up. And poking fun at it. And having people be concerned about it. This will be its own can of worms to unpack eventually."

Au where, in season three, the overlord manages to brainwash Jay into thinking that Nya will go out with him if he can learn to make the perfect grilled cheese. It doesn’t work. Nya doesn’t even like grilled cheese. But then Jay’s grilled cheese-making abilities are integral to defeating Nadakhan in season six. So, in a way, the overlord was right all along.

I love Ninjago (and Lego shows in general) and fan interpretations of the characters and as a fanartist I can't deny that I certainly have headcanons of what their bodies probably look like but also there's something objectively funny about like, when people call the characters strong and sexy or a short king or tall and handsome because while I undoubtedly see The Vision and I know what you mean, it's also just funny to occasionally pull out of it and snap back to official canon and think about what the characters actually look because like

they're all just little guys. they're little brick fellas. they're all short kings
