Tim wondered where Dick was right now, and if he was laughing. His brain was lagging like a computer as he tried to process what Danny was saying, and how seriously a few of his fellow teen vigilantes were taking this.

"Some of their more common tactics are-" the chalk was picked back up, and Danny writes as he speaks.

"Manipulation, isolation, conditioning, and empathy."

Tim stares at the board, and quietly slips put his phone.

His head thumps against the desk. Conner leans over, gives him a pat on the shoulder but returns to taking notes as Danny goes on to explain the conditioning tactic.

Harem AU where Shen Yuan transmigrates into one of Bingge’s wives shortly after he returns from the other world. After a brief (and frantic) realization that’s she’s a woman (and always has been, but we’re not getting into that right now), she delves deep into this harem drama she’s been thrust into. It’s not until she comes face to face with Luo Bingge that she realizes just WHICH harem drama she’s living, and immediately sets about making his life as good as she can manage. Oh, harem infighting is causing strain on his containers? Simply nudge Liu Mingyan and Sha Hualing into working together to manage the harem. The Northern Desert is hinging on disaster because of clerical neglect? One of her harem sisters has a brother who’s in need of a job, no stress. Luo Binghe’s kids are unruly and there’s no clear successor? She has a college degree and a little sister, teaching a dozen or so demonic children is a breeze! All in the name of giving Luo Binghe the time to find a new wife, of course, one who will disperse with the need for this sprawling harem, and once that happens she’s free to travel and document monsters to her hearts content.

Y’know. Anakin was a real asshole in Ahsoka’s hallucination.

Like. She mentions something about what she’ll be able to teach her padawan one day, since all she’s being taught is how to be a soldier, and Anakin’s like “teaching’s not all it’s cracked up to be”

And like. Asshole move. And Ahsoka rightfully calls him out on it. And he goes on the whole “uuuh I was joking. Lighten up.” Literally a complete jackass.

But beyond how he answered the question, it’s a valid complaint Ahsoka is bringing up! Anakin’s teaching her how to live or die. But Ahsoka wants to be taught how to be a jedi.

What happens after the war is over (order 66 never happens) and she now has to navigate a galaxy without a war? The Jedi take teaching very seriously there’s no greater honor than teaching a padawan. And she’s not being accurately taught, so she will not be able to pass anything on to the next generation.

But Anakin brushes it aside because he simply does not respect her or her wishes. Like. He never wanted a padawan, despite teaching being foundational to the Jedi. And he only took ahsoka in because he started to like her and became attached to her. He doesn’t care about jedi legacy, not really. So he brushes her comment off with a joke.

But in the rest of the vision… idk it didn’t feel like we were supposed view Anakin as entirely wrong here. He wasn’t in the right, he was definitely channeling Vader and being an ass, but he was basically the reason Ahsoka survived the fall, right? Bc he was making her choose life? When Ahsoka wins against him it’s sort of like she’s both learned his lesson and moved beyond him. And then for the rest of the season he’s only talked about in positive ways.

And like. That one line ahsoka said was really powerful in relation to the entire point of the show. What does she have to pass onto her own padawan (Sabine) if she wasn’t properly trained herself? That is, perhaps, the only valid plot question asked in the entire show. And it doesn’t get an answer. It’s never even brought up again.

I've been thinking about Descendants 4 again today and, having had more time to think about it, it's even more disappointing than I initially felt it was. Because it actually has all the ingredients to be my favorite of the four.

-Brandy coming back as Cinderella (along with her prince) is an inspired move (as a Black girl and theater kid in spirit, I obviously loved her as a kid). -I also love a Cinderella focus in general because she's one of my favorite princesses--in Disney and in general. My MFA thesis project is literally a Cinderella retelling. -I love a focus on platonic relationships and an interesting mother-daughter dynamic is one of my faves. -Likewise, as cliche is it is, I love two characters with almost violently opposite vibes being forced to work together and getting close along the way.

This movie has all these things that I love which makes it extra disappointing that the movie seems uninterested in basic tenets of storytelling.

The two main relationship rifts in this movie are between Cinderella and the Queen and Red and her Queen and neither of those relationships grow or develop in a way we can get invested in. They're just fixed by stealing a book. The Red Queen doesn't learn to be a better person. They just erase one bad thing that happened to her and it's all fine now I guess? Ella doesn't reconcile with her friend. Whatever caused their rift (which we never see or even are told about in any detail) is just poofed from the timeline. There's no emotional climax. There's no real action climax. Every time it seemed like something interesting was going to happen or be revealed, they hard pivoted to something else. The connective tissue in the movie is super weak and the foreshadowing leads to very little if anything.

I've really never seen a movie so bizarrely unfocused and disjointed. It has real first draft vibes.

How do you think the relationship between canon Light and fem!L would develop?

So I only really like thinking about them in a shippy sense if they're being gay together, so I'm going to mention that immediately as a disclaimer that it is affecting my takes on this before I answer. 😆 I WOULD find it interesting to see the combo of male!Light and female!L mostly only in how Light would maybe not be able to trick her with his usual seduction tactics and whatnot that he typically uses on girls? L just would basically blatantly notice Light's flirting antics and call them out / tell him it's sus or stupid and never going to work on her. In my head L's imperviousness to his usual charms might not be outright explained, as many things with L are not outright explained, but it would def give the vibes of "she's clearly not even into guys, bro..." I think Light would assume she is straight/more easily manipulated as a woman (and even if she WAS straight, I think she'd just keep that to herself because she thinks her preferences are none of his business either way). I think he'd be annoyed/insulted by her rejecting him and calling him out on his bullshit, but then he would also realize he miscalculated and have to rethink how to approach getting to know her better (after his initial sulking he would probably inwardly be like, "huh very interesting, I've never met a girl who that didn't work on before...") He'd maybe switch just to trying to befriend her more platonically? I think he's smart enough and good enough with people to realize she would probably prefer he just treat her like a peer and not make a huge deal about her gender than to be constantly aware of it and mentioning it and treating her like she is very different than he is or whatever as well - he would think she wouldn't like anyone acting like she is inferior, but also probably that she wouldn't want him to treat her extra nice or like she's made of glass or super astounding for being smart AND a girl, or whatever else. Not sure if meeting fem!L might actually cause Light to rethink some of the casual sexism he has in canon in some of his attitudes and thoughts? But I feel like even if he DID come to respect fem!L as an equal he might also end up just thinking of her as the "only woman he respects" or something along those lines, not that he now respects all women as equals across the board...

Yeah okay even in modern/human au the daughters are sensitive to the cold but they don’t die from it like in canon but they do get sick easily if they’re not dressed warmly.

It’s always one falling sick soon after messing around with the cold outside especially Cass and Dani because they think they don’t need to dress warmly and Cass even wear short skirts/ dresses thinking she can survive the snow outside but barely twenty four hours later she’s in bed nursing an upset stomach or dealing with a cold because she thought she’s stronger.

Alcina tried not to be that mom, but she can’t because a) she’s totally that mom and b) she needs to check what her daughters are wearing before they go out (and force them to change if they’re exposing a lot of skin for no reason). But this only works when she’s at home because when she’s out her youngest two daughters think that rules don’t apply and they neglect dressing appropriately and it’s always always them coming to her room in the middle of the night complaining that they’re not feeling well.

After a lecture including a lot of ‘I told you so’ mama goes on to take care of the sick daughter until she’s all better in a few days (sometimes longer depending on how long they plan on milking mama’s love and care)

Okay this is the *actual* last comment, for real, but I just found out Spider is now smearing me as a convert and accusing me of being involved with drama I was not involved with because he mistakenly attributed my apologies for his public temper tantrum as being about something unrelated.

THIS IS A FALSE ACCUSATION and I do not appreciate having yet another bit of fake malicious intent falsely ascribed to my actions and* attributing a completely unrelated attack to me.

Also, it's very sad and disappointing whenever a Jew gets mad at a convert because something else is going on in the Jew's life and the convert happens to be in the splash zone and the Jew falls over backwards to smear the convert and invalidate her faith.

Just....the childish aggression is making me so, so sad and disappointed, from someone I used to think very highly of, who is now lying about me and publicly smearing me with false accusations based on a conflict he started because he misinterpreted something I said and I went out of my way to give him the benefit of the doubt when trying to clear up the mistake HE MADE that led him to decide bullying and attacking me for three fucking days was appropriate and okay and that I'm the bad guy for saying it's wildly unprofessional to behave like this in public to a former customer face.

Sorry, but facts, reality, linear time and the truth of what I actually said and did are on my side here, and I will not stand for being smeared and attacked and shat all over because I had the gall to try to kindly resolve his uncalled for, unjustified temper tantrum.

I am also not sorry that I left a side note in the tags that it was also unacceptable for HIM to drag his daughter into a stupid internet slapfight based on his own reading comprehension failure. Because it was and is unacceptable, and she needs to hear that message from someone.

End of story. Keep digging that hole as long as you like, Spider. It's not helping your case and is continuing to make you look progressively worse and more unreasonable, and the only person you have to blame is yourself.
