Dear Leverage fans,
I am doing an article about the show. If you had to pick one to three episodes of the show to recommend to someone who never watched the show, what would you recommend to the person?
I would appreciate your insight!
Thank you,

Ways to approach the poll if the character isn’t a royal:
If you think they’d be from a smaller house, go with the Great House that that smaller house is sworn to (ex: House Manderly —> vote Stark)
They don’t have to be a nobleperson, they can be someone working for the house or being ruled by them. Roles could be a sworn-sword, a septa, a butcher, a blacksmith, or even a lowly peasant.
You can consider the region itself. For example, if you feel the character would be from Dorne, pick House Martell.
You can consider the personality of the character. For example, if your character is all about honor, then consider either House Arryn or House Stark.
Last, but not least, be creative with it! For example, there was a comment I read that the character who was the subject of the poll would be pulling a Littlefinger, so they went with either Lannister or Tyrell as that would be that character’s target houses.

SOPHIE Alright, what’s this about?
BREANNA: Okay, I know this is going to sound weird, but there’s a group of people, kinda like us, who are trying to help people, only they do it via this concept of ‘transformative works.’
(The screens flash with screenshots of various canons and fanworks.)
BREANNA: The biggest thing is fanfiction, which is people writing their own versions of things they like. It started with Star Trek like a hundred years ago.
ELIOT: Nerd stuff again?!
PARKER: Oo, Hardison told me about fanfiction once. Something about re-inventing the original Star Wars universe to be steampunk, but I kinda stopped listening.
BREANNA: That’s a good example, yeah.
HARRY: Huh, wonder if my daughter knows about this stuff.
BREANNA: Uh… Probably a good idea not to ask.
HARRY: O-kay…
BREANNA: It can get a little – Well, let’s just say that most of them are romances and leave it at that. You remember how I said Star Trek was the first? (reconsiders) Well, an argument can be made that the original Sherlock Holmes fans wrote the first fanfiction, but with the advent of radio and then television, channels of communication broadened the scope of the--
ELIOT: Breanna. Geek spiral.
BREANNA: Right. Well. There’s a charity auction for dope organizations every year, and the stuff up for auction is fanfiction, fanart, that sort of thing.
HARRY: But not commissions.
BREANNA: Nope, all goes to charity.
SOPHIE: Well, you know I can’t resist a romance. And neither can Eliot.
ELIOT: That’s not-- I have no idea what you’re talking about.
PARKER: But I’m noticing a distinct lack of stealing.
BREANNA: I mean, yeah, that’s kinda the point. It’s for charity.
PARKER: Fine. I guess Hardison would love it.
BREANNA: Yeah. So… Think we can rustle up something?
SOPHIE: Oh, I think we can contribute quite nicely.
BREANNA: We’re in?
PARKER: We’re in.
BREANNA: Sweet! Man, let’s go steal an auction!

Dream job
As a perpetually unemployed person (I have more years of unemployment under my belt than I do of years working actual jobs), I am constantly asked what my dream job is.
What do job I want to do? I usually go with the "work support staff on a film/tv show" or something similar. I have a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in film. And so far I have not worked a day since I got the two degrees in 2021 and 2022. I am one of those people who finishes a degree or training only for the economy or unions of a pandemic to promptly decide that I will not work. Seriously. I dropped out of college in ~2009, had a nervous breakdown, and then went and trained as a phlebotomist (person who takes your blood for testing). Then I trained as a medical assistant. Both times all I heard (if anyone actually deigned to contact me) was that I either had too much training (just from doing intern/externships) or not enough experience. I worked as a temp (some of the worst jobs I've ever worked and the worst people I have ever met in those jobs), worked at my local county fair in one of the departments fro a few weeks every summer for several years, and I've worked in retail (cue nervous breakdown #3. Yes, I said #3). All of this is to say that nothing I've ever done has been remotely dream-like (though I've definitely had more than a few stress dreams about my jobs).
So. What would my dream job be? Well, first off, it doesn't exist in the real world, only on tv. Unless of course someone has actually accomplished it and Leverage exists in real life and not just as 7 seasons of two incredible shows.
Why do I want to work for Leverage? Because they help people and have adventures. And sometimes they have to be creative about it. I WANT to be creative in my job. But creativity doesn't pay the bills.
So I'll just go back to waiting to hear from the jobs I've already applied to. They're not dream jobs, but maybe they won't crush me down until I have a fourth breakdown.
Maybe.

The Leverage universe is so funny because why is being an insurance investigator equivalent to being a Sherlock Holmes

Alexis is the entirely competent but sexy disaster in Eliot's past. They've never dated officially, but crossed paths so many times & helped each other out on so many occasions, it just kind of happened. Neither of them was in it for a long time, but they definitely had a good time.
She & Sophie always just missed each other, all over the world, but everyone always assumed they were related because of vibes. Like cousins separated by continents.
Parker & Nate knew who she was by reputation & whispers but neither interacted with her.
Hardison is the audience surrogate who is, by equal turns, charmed & vaguely horrified by her stories.
She & Tara do not like each other for professional reasons.
Quinn has lusted after her for years, & she for him, in both a personal & professional context but they've never sealed the deal.
Chaos & Archie knew of her but their paths never intersected.

Of course Eliot knows how to sew, between his military service, medical skills, and the likelihood that he's slept with a seamstress or two. He can, at minimum, hem a pair of pants and do most types of repairs.
Hardison, though? Sure, word of God is that he makes the disguises that the team uses during cons, which could just mean he's ironing "FBI" transfer letters onto windbreakers.
HOWEVER.
Hardison is a cosplayer in the early 2010s. I did my first con cosplay at AnimeNext in '08. Before 2013 or so, you could not Google a character and find sales listings for a ready-made cosplay. If you wanted to cosplay a character who doesn't wear readily available normal clothes, you had two options: you either found someone who could sew and were very, very nice to them, or you learned how to make stuff yourself. I know several people who taught themselves how to sew by taking apart thriftstore finds for cosplay, and I had a side hustle taking on sewing and patterning commissions.
Hardison could have commissioned his first cosplay, but I think he'd get sucked in. He'd get really excited about computerized sewing machines. He'd get himself a machine that he can hack and reprogram so it's got extra stitches, multiple buttonhole settings, automatic seam guidance, a controlled heat setting that does a fused edge finish on synthetic fabrics. He digitizes his own embroidery patterns.
At some point Eliot asks to borrow a sewing machine because his job is as rough on his clothes as it is on his body, and he nearly has an aneurysm trying to do a basic darning patch on Hardison's beeping whistling computer-monster. A couple days later, a second sewing machine shows up. It's an old one with sturdy metal innards and mechanical dials to set stitch length and width. It has no screen, no control buttons, and only a handful of settings. One of them is a darning stitch.

It’s so true!!
obsessed with nate’s disguises consistently being irritating blowhards and obsessed with how well it works for him. sometimes you don’t need to befriend someone or intimidate someone to get them to do what you want, sometimes you can just make them hate you so much they’ll do anything if they think it means you lose

Perhaps one of the most awkward things about being shoulder deep in a fandom but pretending to be a well adjusted adult is when you are chatting with someone and they bring up a specific scene from said fandom and you refer to aspects of said scene with hyper detail that no one who hasn’t been consuming mass amounts of fanfic would ever say.

Idk I know this is not a popular fandom take but I really hope Leverage: Redemption continues with the thread that Parker/Hardison/Eliot can be read as either romantic or platonic. I just really really love reading their relationship as queerplatonic. I just don't see what we've seen of their relationship in Redemption as "baiting" or "crumbs". And idk maybe it's me being the queerplatonic that I am but I simply don't think they need to kiss on screen to validate their relationship. "You, me, and Hardison, that's working." I loved that line so much because yes, they are working. <3 And you can take it as shippily as you like, I'm just kind of tired of the implications (or straight up saying so) in this fandom that the only valid OT3 reading is a romantic one.

i genuinely loved the eliotparker convo at the end sm, but once again i keep seeing takes that attribute something to eliot that - in my view - isn't entirely accurate?
he didn't entirely stay out of her business. he was skeptical from the jump (he tells that to sophie explicitly). he had to ride to harry's rescue and could only do that because he was tracking harry's phone. he told her - very firmly - that it's time to stop the con.
i think eliot and parker have a unique sort of understanding of each other, but in the same way, i do also think that sophie's relentless work (looking through her notes the whole night, asking her questions and trying to gauge her reaction to get a clue of what's going on) speaks to a different sort of unique understanding. it's actually harry who stayed away, who told her he was going to (who she verbally acknowledged doing this), and who had to be brought in by parker personally because otherwise he would not have come. it's breanna who just did what parker asked without any strings attached. (and this is all without even mentioning hardison.)
it had to be eliot talking to parker in the end but she never would have got to this point if she hadn't had all kinds of different support over the years.

Well, you see, you made a funny post
, that is incredibly accurate
, and represents the relationship between our OT3 so well
So we reblogged it
Because it's awesome
And that gives it notes
Eliot: I stay close to protect Hardison and Parker. I suppose I’m third wheeling but if that’s what it takes to keep them safe then so be it
Hardison: Eliot is our boyfriend. We take him on dates all the time
Parker: he hasn’t figured it out yet
Hardison: I suggested we tell him
Parker: but this is more fun
Hardison: yeah it is
