Mass Effect Andromeda turned 8 years old today. 8 years since one of my favourite video games ever was released.

I remember how obsessed tumblr was with it, everywhere you looked you saw gifsets of the characters, the Ryders, the romances, it was simply amazing.

I am not exaggerating when I say this game had such an effect on me, finally opening up and talking with other people in the fandom, helping me become more introverted. I made many friends thanks to this game and I still feel joy every time i see them popping up on my dashboard.

I can only hope that one day we will return to Andromeda in some way, seeing the characters once again, here's hoping the story will go on!

I’m going into Dragon Age Veilguard with the intent to romance Davrin since everyone else is hellbent on romancing Lucanis and Emmerich so when I stream it you can watch in real time and see if BioWare has finally gotten their shit together and made a black character who isn’t a racial stereotype (Jacob), was in a heavily bugged game that was unplayable when it was released (Liam) , dead (Anderson), or had all of his character content cut to make more room for a white character (wasn’t BioWare, it was Larian but with the way people are in fandom in general I wouldn’t put it past Bioware to cater to their whiter fanbase if a white character got all the hype)

Reserving full judgment until I finish the game, but atm I find it a huge oversight that the game just kinda...skips past the revelation of "oh yeah the Andromeda Initiative was created to preserve life because of the imminent Reaper invasion and also as far as we know everyone in the Milky Way might be dead" in favor of "oh Mom's alive yay Mom's alive." Like, idk I think knowing everyone in the Milky Way might have died not long after the Andromeda Initiative left should be. A bigger deal?

Like atm I don't know if this gets addressed later on in the game or not but this revelation should gut Ryder. I understand Alec wanted it kept secret, but it's so rough learning this and then going back and talking to Liam about the family he left behind (who might be dead). We should be given the option to tell the others. Think of how Jaal could help Ryder cope with this; having fought against his own peoples' genocide and using that to try and give Ryder strength in the face that they might, also, be facing something similar.

Idk like I said, reserving judgment to see if anything pops up later but right now my Ryder is having a minor breakdown about this and needs to talk to someone and the game isn't letting him.

Kaidan: listen, everyone who claims Canadians are so polite and demure has never seen one drive. years of pent up anger come out when Kaidan drives. no where near as bad as Zaeed, he still follows the rules and laws. extremely animated when raging, and comes up with the most creative insults.

Garrus: as much as garrus loves to rib Shepard about their driving, he's barely any better. his time at c-sec at least drilled basic rules of the road into him, but he's still an asshole who'll cut people off.

Thane: prefers to drive in complete silence, maybe plays some white noise while he drives. do not try talking to him he's not listening. very careful on the road, hasn't been in an accident once.

Jacob: generally a good driver, just doesn't use his turn signals. good at multitasking while driving, so talking, listening to the radio, eating, he can do it. will gladly take the role of designated driver

Mordin: I think he hates driving, he get too in his own thoughts and forgets he's driving. would rather let shepard drive than do the driving

Zaeed: worst driver here. worse than Shepard in that he doesn't even try to follow the rules of the road. his road rage is horrific, has fully gotten out of his car to fist fight someone. would drive a pickup with trucknuts.

Cortez: best driver here. very relaxed when driving, very in his element. this man is a Saint on the road, not an ounce of road rage in his body

Vega: it's a miracle he hasn't been killed, he never wears a seatbelt, never uses his turn signals, and pulls illegal turns all the time. drives with his windows open and radio absolutely blasting music.

Joker: would be the best driver if he wasn't such a jackass. regularly flips off other drivers he thinks are being stupid. thinks he's the best driver on the road, and he is, just don't tell him that

Jaal: has an angaran license, though I don't think he drives a traditional vehicle. more along the lines of some sort of atv or motorcycle type thing. a good driver, has definitely modified his vehicle.

Liam: I honestly don't think he has a license. he prefers public transit or to let other people drive. he's not that great of a driver when he does though.

Gil: has zooped up his car and treats it like his baby. will not let anyone else drive it, ESPECIALLY not Ryder. will fight someone if they hit his car. follows the rules of the road religiously.

Reyes: Street races, will try and goad other people into street racing. has lost his license multiple times. amazingly enough has never crashed.
