The lull between move in time and the Welcome Roundup expired quickly, and before anyone knew it, everyone was gathered around the stage eager to be introduced to the counselors and the itinerary for their week at camp.

"Good morning and sul, sul, Camp Longhorn campers! I'm Head Counselor Hecking, and I'm so excited that we're all going to be spending the week together!" Head Counselor Hecking gave them the warmest and most enthusiastic welcome.

"The theme for your week is adventure and discovery. We are going to realize that theme with one structured event a day. We're talking motor advancement through swim time and treehouse building, creative development in the art center, and athletic gains hiking and tree climbing."

"Outside of structured events, you'll have free time to explore activities individually and make friends with your fellow campers. And don't neglect that part, campers! You may only be here a week, but the friendships you make here will last you a lifetime."

"Now here to assist me in guiding you all through this amazing week are my junior counselors standing next to me. Each one of them will be in charge of your guided events and will be on standby if you need help during your free time. Give Libbie, Daniel, M, and Evie a hearty sul sul!"

All of the campers gave the counselors their heartiest sul suls, but one hello in particular immediately caught Evie's eye.

It was Cordelia, waving to what would seem only one counselor in particular, and Evie could tell exactly where her gaze was fixated.

After she noticed Cordelia's infatuated gaze, she couldn't ignore it for the rest of the roundup.

For the rest of Head Counselor Hecking's speech, she witnessed Cordelia sighing over and over with her lovesick stricken stare focused only on one person.

And the most frustrating part was that Mimi seemed completely oblivious to it.

Again.

She'd thought Mimi had talked to her about it, but clearly something got lost in translation. Evie internally sighed. She'd have to talk to them again about it. This problem could not go on.

June has kicked off HOT with me discovering audiobooks. I am IN my library's libby selection! It did however pretty much grind my forever project of reading all the books on my tbr shelf to a complete halt. I am slowly (very slowly) reading an essay collection I bought back in like 2021 on transgender marxism but the rest of my reading is happening via audiobook or as a manga ebook right now... It does make me feel like a kid again! AND FREE BOOKS!! I LOVE LIBRARY!

Also my reading goal this year was 60 books but I'm already at 48, so I expect I'll have to up the count!

Grayson stared at the big gold eyes that were scanning his face, Cordelia seemed terrified although he that was not at all the case, or at least he hoped. After the whole ordeal with Eve he had been thinking about getting in contact with her again, possibly to apologise for breaking her heart, or to come up with a shitty excuse as to why he had to, when Avery told him she had invited them to a gala a flicker of hope had lit inside him, this was a chance, and he had promised himself he would never pass over a chance again, but now that she was actually here he was lost for words. He cleared his throat again.

“I was hoping to get a word with dai- Ms Ambrose, if that’s ok with her” Grayson stared down at Cordelia as if he could will her to say yes, “that’s um- fine” Della whispered and then they stared at eachother for a good thirty seconds, Graysons eyes flit down to take a peak at Cordelia’s red lips, admiring the shape and softness of them before he forced them to look at Libby, “alone” libby nodded and quickly walked off towards Nash.

“It’s been a while” Grayson whispered making sure to keep his voice low to assure nobody in the room could eavesdrop, “it has,three years I think?” Cordelia curtly replied, Grayson let out a shaky breath “are you ok?”

“I’m fine,” he sighed “I’m so sorry Della” he looked up at her, “for what?” 

“You know what. I’ve come to apologise for every-“

“Grayson” it was Avery, the girl who had become like a sister to him, a girl he used to be in love with. “What is it Avery?” Grayson replied looking away from Cordelia “we were going to go out for dinner tonight, with the Ambrose’s of course.” She nodded towards Cordelia “we were all about to get ready”

“R-right of course, I hope we will be able to talk later ms Ambrose.”

That night Grayson drafted a letter to his little daisy, to say what his mouth couldn’t.

Dearest Cordelia,

As our conversation earlier was cut short, i will write everything I want you to know in this letter.

I have missed you immensely, I will not make excuses for my mistakes they were mistakes that hurt both you and me and I will not except you to forgive me. But I want a fresh start, you and me, I have known you my whole life and it shattered me to lose you because I was too blind to see what was in front of me, I hope you can forgive me.
