It's procrastination day ✨️
Poem s English version lower
L’horloge
Charles Baudelaire
Horloge ! dieu sinistre, effrayant, impassible,
Dont le doigt nous menace et nous dit : » Souviens-toi !
Les vibrantes Douleurs dans ton coeur plein d’effroi
Se planteront bientôt comme dans une cible,
Le plaisir vaporeux fuira vers l’horizon
Ainsi qu’une sylphide au fond de la coulisse ;
Charles Baudelaire, Les fleurs du mal
English version
Charles Baudelaire
The Clock
Impassive clock! Terrifying, sinister god,
Whose finger threatens us and says: "Remember!
The quivering Sorrows will soon be shot
Into your fearful heart, as into a target;
Nebulous pleasure will flee toward the horizon
Like an actress who disappears into the wings;
Every instant devours a piece of the pleasure
Granted to every man for his entire season.
Three thousand six hundred times an hour, Second
Whispers: Remember! — Immediately
With his insect voice, Now says: I am the Past
And I have sucked out your life with my filthy trunk!
Remember! Souviens-toi, spendthrift! Esto memor!
(My metal throat can speak all languages.)
Minutes, blithesome mortal, are bits of ore
That you must not release without extracting the gold!
Remember, Time is a greedy player
Who wins without cheating, every round! It's the law.
The daylight wanes; the night deepens; remember!
The abyss thirsts always; the water-clock runs low.
Soon will sound the hour when divine Chance,
When august Virtue, your still virgin wife,
When even Repentance (the very last of inns!),
When all will say: Die, old coward! it is too late!"

Watching Jessie dance is an experience.
You’ve never had much of an appreciation for dancing. Back home in Kamordah, the only dancers you ever knew were the performers your dad would drag his stuffy wine snob friends to see at the theater whenever he felt he hadn’t kissed up to them enough. They were beautiful and elegant and cloyingly, sweetly, stiffly feminine - everything he wanted you to be. Everything you’d come to avoid like the plague. Whenever he’d come home from one of those shows and make some snide comment about how proud those parents must be to have such talented daughters, you’d fire back like a reflex. Saw off another inch of your hair, stain your dress with mud and grass, steal another “forbidden” book from his library. Anything to forget those sugar-coated porcelain dolls.
But Jessie? Jessie’s different.
Watching her dance is an experience. A revelation. She floats along on the tips of her toes, sure, and she’s laced delicately into those glittery satin shoes. But where they were doll-like, she’s bursting with life. Her eyes shine with laughter, her skirts whisper like they’re sharing a secret, she giggles like a bell chime whenever she wobbles off balance. Her steps stutter and bounce. She leaps like she’s flying, rocketing up to reach the painted ceiling with her outstretched arms, her eyes shut tight like she’s making a wish.
And when she pulls you onto the floor with her, to help her with a lift or support her in a turn or just because it’s fun, Beau, come on - she holds your hand and her smile melts into something wistful and fond and your heart gives one of its stupid little flutters. She guides you away from the graceful whirling of her dance into something close and quiet and achingly tender, a gentle swaying, her head on your shoulder. And you, ridiculous fool that you are, hold her close and pretend you’re not falling.
#this one is my personal favorite#i love ballet so much and it makes for such a good vessel for Pining#critical role#beaujester#my writing

Rapsblüte no Yoru (Princess Tutu epilogue skit) and my thoughts
Or: Why a bitch is still salty after 9 years
So, as previously mentioned on this blog, there was a skit presented at a Princess Tutu convention in 2004 by series creator Ikuko Itoh and chief director Junichi Sato called “Rapsblüte no Yoru.” It takes place about a year after the anime’s ending and serves to wrap up some loose ends about the characters and their feelings - particularly Ahiru and Mytho.
So I’ve talked about it before, but now more time has passed, so I thought I’d let the raging monster out of its slumber to REALLY address the epilogue and my own uncensored thoughts and feelings about it. Half of this ended up reading like a rant, really, but I just had to get it all out there.
Here is the skit, as recited by Japanese blogger Goma and translated by LiveJournal user csakuras, along with my reactions and thoughts, which are indicated by the blockquotes.
"Quaack.." Ahiru seems to be swimming on the river during a night with a beautiful moon It's been a while since then, and every day I'm happy. It's fun talking with my bird friends, and Madam Pelican is a little noisy, but...it's fun. And besides......whenever I look up, Fakir is always there.
So Ahiru has returned to life as a bird and has settled in well. Good for her.
Ahiru: "I've come all the way to Gold Crown Academy....somehow I feel like dancing." Saying that, Ahiru climbs onto the bank and is surprised to find the whole surface covered with rape blossoms. Ahiru: "Gwak!!" Autor: "Oh? What's this?" It seems he stepped on Ahiru.. Ahiru: "Gwakgwak!!" Ahiru protests. Autor: "Oh it's you, Ahiru-kun...isn't Fakir with you?" Autor backs away as Ahiru tries to talk to him. Autor: "Sorry, but could you not get so close? I'll start sneezing from my bird allergies." (The mystery of his dislike of birds is solved.) Ahiru: "Charon-san and Raetsel-san had a child so Fakir went to the celebration."
The idea of this seems to negate all of Raetsel’s development, but okay then.
Autor: "I see....by the way, did you come to see the Night of Rapsblüte too?" Ahiru: "Rap..Rapsblüte?" Ahiru asks curiously. Ahiru: "Rapsblüte are rape blossoms, right?" Here, Autor goes Hnph! with his nose as if making fun of her. Autor: "The Night of Rapsblüte is when once every 50 years, all the rape blossoms bloom simultaneously on a night of the full moon. According to what I've researched in the library, in the records of a student from 50 years ago, there is an eye-witness account." Ahiru heaves a sigh (lol) Autor: "And tonight, the weather, the date, everything matches with the past data!" Autor is full of confidence. "Besides that, you're in the music department so maybe you should be studying piano instead..." Ahiru mutters. Autor: "Did you say something?" Ahiru: "Huh? Autor can understand me." Hnph, he laughs at her with his nose again. Autor: "Anything can happen tonight and it wouldn't be strange." Ahiru: "The moon is so pretty..." (Here, a man wearing a mask of the moon appears from behind..it's a great hit in the assembly) Autor: "What's that? An onion?" Ahiru: "!!" Uzura: "Ho~ Ahiru zura~" *Tototon* (her drum) Ahiru: "Uzura-chan!!" Ahiru: "Uzura-chan! Where were you?" Uzura: "I've been wandering the interval of time with the old man zura."
WHAT does that even mean?! What is the interval of time?! Considering Uzura’s previous life as Edel, it’s surprising that Uzura chooses to stick with Drosselmeyer. He’s the one who put her Ahiru and Fakir through so much trouble, after all. Then again, Uzura is a child and probably has no memory or idea of the role Drosselmeyer played and the evil things he did. Uzura also isn’t human, so maybe human morals don’t bother her as much.
Ahiru: "By the old man do you mean Drosselmyer-san? Then where's Drosselmyer-san?" "Drosselmyer?!!" <--(Autor's switch is on) Uzura: "The old man is busy with updating the site zura, sorry he's so irresponsible zura." (Here, Director Satou is rolling with laughter.) Autor: "Why didn't you bring him with you?!" Clearly, his Drosselmyer otaku switch is on lol
I hate you, Autor. I try not to but I do.
Uzura: "One more is coming zura." Autor: "One more?" Mytho: ".......Tutu." Ahiru: "Mytho!!" (I can never forget Ahiru's sad voice here)
Ah, and here it is. The agony.
You know, I could possibly stomach the whole damn ending of the show if the epilogue doesn’t go on to make it entirely clear how heartbroken Ahiru still is. I mean, if Ahiru is actually happy, there’s nothing more you can want for her. But this here kind of ruins it. Like, why?! How am I supposed to be content with her situation when she’s sad at the mere sight of Mytho?!
Mytho: "It's been a while...." Uzura: "He was dancing on the balcony so I brought him zura." (....At your own pace as usual, Prince.) Autor: "Prince Siegfried from the story!! Myu...Mytho-san." (He sounds as emotional as if he were meeting Drosselmyer.) Mytho: "Are you Fakir's friend...?" Autor: "I'm Autor!" Mytho: "You were the one who helped Fakir? Thank you..." (How does he know..)
How DOES he know? Well, there was a tiny time skip between the defeat of the Raven and Mytho and Rue’s departure to the story. Perhaps things were explained a little during then.
Autor: "No! It was an honor." (only dimly remember) Mytho: "If I remember correctly, during our ballet lessons you were asked by Neko-sensei to accompany us on piano." Autor: "Yes, I was asked to accompany you on piano by Neko-sensei 11 times, and I passed by you with Neko-sensei in the hall 27 times." (Jeez, Autor's in high spirits (lol)) Mytho: "Fakir sometimes sees cows and alligators flying in the sky, so I'm worried. Could you take care of Fakir?"
Mytho seems to naturally be a little bit of an airhead. It’s funny to see that qualities of him that we saw in the anime can be attributed not to his lack of a heart and common sense, but just to how his personality really is. Cute.
Autor: "Yes!! Mytho-san, please leave him to me." (He's been left to him without having a say, Fakir's in a pinch (lol)) Ahiru: "Mytho? How is Rue-chan?" Mytho: "Rue is doing well." Mytho: "It seems Rue is good at singing too and she's a popular princess among the people." Autor: "Rue-san?"
So Rue is a true lady of the arts, not good only at dancing but at singing too. Interesting that she’s so popular, considering that she honestly doesn’t seem to be the most sociable person. Polite, but not going out of her way to be friendly. Perhaps her time in the story with Mytho has defrosted her even more. What is the new Rue like, I wonder?
Uzura: "Mytho is rabu-rabu with Rue zura~" Autor: "Could you be quiet for a while..." His voice is lacking energy and sounds like he might cry (He knows they're rivals in love..is that okay?)
WHY is Autor so torn up over Rue still?! He never even really spent time with her. Foolish kids, I tell you. She was hardly more than a pretty face to him.
Ahiru: "Thank goodness... Mytho. "The Concluding Volume of The Prince and the Raven" got published. It's not a story without an end anymore." Ahiru: "And also, soon Fakir's going to dance an all-male version of La Sylphide with Matthew Bourne-sensei's choreography!"
Soooo this part is confusing. The concluding volume… So The Prince and the Raven was a story published in installments? The show made it look like it was just a single novel. Unless they mean that they simply published an official ending… But if the story was given an ending, wouldn’t that affect the storybook world? And who wrote the ending and got it published, Fakir? A couple of questions that remain here.
Mytho: "Fakir....I always feel like I'm connected with Fakir..the more my country becomes peaceful, I can feel him close by." (It's...mostly dim recollection. Just the nuance of it.)
Yeah, don’t act like you didn’t just up and leave him AND Ahiru once your business was finished, Mytho. Anyways, skipping the salt, does this mean that Fakir’s conclusion to the novel made things more peaceful in the story world? That’s what it sounds like to me.
Actually, isn’t it kind of scary that Fakir can still wield influence over Mytho’s world? What if he got pissed off at him? yikes
Ahiru: "Mytho...." "You should meet Fakir! He's coming back tomorrow..so then.." Mytho: "I can't..I can only come here because the interval of time is connected tonight..see, the moon is already sinking this much." (The man playing the moon sinks down (lol) The assembly bursts into laughter again) "I see..."
WHAT is with this ‘interval of time’ nonsense again! Someone explain it to me!
Also, fuck Fakir, apparently.
Mytho: "Princess Tutu.....thanks to you, I can be like this. Thank you." Ahiru: "I wanted to see you smile, so my wish is already granted." (only dimly remember)
AND THERE IT FINALLY IS!!!
“Thank you, Tutu, for risking your life to save mine and restore my happiness and holding your tongue about your feelings for me so I could do nothing for you in return and leave hours later.”
No, I’m not salty. Anyways, the abrupt ending to the show without much dialogue was due to time constraints, not necessarily a true display of Mytho’s character, which I guess this epilogue was partly written to fix. It does seem pretty heartless when you watch the anime, though.
Mytho: "Princess Tutu, I wanted to be with you longer. I wanted to talk with you like this longer....to me, you are the light....because you are someone very special..." (?? Mytho/Ahiru?)
See, this is why I just can’t do it. Like, Mytho, are you fucking kidding?! You leave her alone as a duck and now you want to sweet-talk her?!
But actually, all bitterness aside, this is really sad. They obviously care for each other, but because of circumstances and plot, never once did they have the time to really just… talk.
And he still sees her as the light. I saw some people kind of making fun of this, but of COURSE he does. There was a considerable period of time when she was the only person vouching for him, keeping him safe, acting as his voice… and ultimately saving him in every way. He can only be a real person again because of her, and she never faltered in her mission. That’s INCREDIBLE. Of course he would hold her in high regard.
Mytho: "But, I have to protect Rue. Rue needs me...." (I'm sorry, it's completely out of memory...because I was so overwhelmed..(lol) I should take my reeling in moderation)
And here’s the dagger. After talking about how highly he thinks of Ahiru/Tutu… he backtracks by saying Rue needs him.
And you know why this is REALLY fucking sad? He doesn’t say that “But, I really enjoy being with Rue” or “But, I love Rue.”
He says he has to PROTECT Rue. Rue NEEDS him.
I don’t think I need to dive too deep into the implications of his wording to spell out why this is upsetting, but I’ll sum it up quick. Instead of saying he likes being with Rue, he says Rue needs me. That’s the first thing that comes to mind.
And if it means what I think it means, that’s just fucking harsh. That’s not fair for Rue. That’s not fair for Ahiru. That’s not fair for Mytho.
I mean, we all know the prince has a savior-complex, but the implication that he chose Rue because he feels a sense of duty to protect her instead of romantic affection is kind of… tragic. That’s not a happy ending at all, really. Does Rue have any idea?
I think this is why I have an issue with Ruetho, because no matter what you can’t escape the fact that Mytho will always view her through the lens of what she suffered. It’s just in his personality as a heroic, selfless prince. Doesn’t Rue deserve someone who sees her as… more than someone to protect?
Whatever, can’t be changed now.
Mytho: "Tutu...you have done so much for me, but I couldn't do anything for you." "Is there something I can do for you, Tutu?"
WHAT on Earth could he possibly expect to be able to do for her?! I mean, short of turning her human again, but I’m guessing that’s out of the scope of his abilities. Don’t be so bait-y.
Ahiru: "......Mytho! I.........." "No, nevermind..." (Ahiru sounds incredibly sad)
AUGHHHHHHHH
What was she going to say? You know what, probably doesn’t matter anyway. We know what she wants… she can’t have it, though.
Mytho: "It's almost time..." "See you again....Tutu...." (Jeez..I don't remember any of it) Ahiru: "Can we meet again?" Mytho: "Surely we will meet again..." Mytho (or is it Yanagi-san? lol): "We can meet again, when Sakurai-kun is here." (The assembly explodes with laughter)
NOOOOOOOO
No no no
No, do NOT meet again. This is just asking for trouble. Ahiru clearly isn’t over Mytho, and Mytho… clearly does not have his priorities straightened out. If they keep meeting like this…
Well, as the anime shows, it wouldn’t be the first time they put themselves through the wringer for love. Mytho recites something in German. "Waaao!!" <--(Uzura)
What did he say? I’m curious.
Here, Mytho says his never-ending feelings for Tutu (if someone remembers this part please tell me~) And at the end, Mytho: ".......Ahiru."
……..Yeahhh, probably not a good idea to meet again.
Like, I get that this epilogue is to ‘tie up loose ends’ including the torched remnants of Mythiru that were dropped so abruptly at the end, but...
Why, oh why, Mytho, did you choose Rue if you’re still hung up on Tutu?
Additionally, we see that Mytho DOES now know that Tutu is Ahiru. That’s bittersweet too, but in more of a good way. He finally knows that the little passionate goofball was the princess all along. I wonder who told him, or how he found out. Did he just figure it out on his own? Like, the duck that was once Princess Tutu must be Ahiru because Ahiru = duck? Maybe Uzura told him? I doubt Fakir would’ve, simply because once she was back to being a duck again permanently, there was really no reason to tell Mytho. Couldn’t much matter anymore, right?
Ahiru: "I get the feeling I heard Mytho's voice at the end." I am a duck....I can't wear toe shoes, I can't dance.. (I'm sorry, I don't remember) But inside my chest there is a sparkling gem that will never be broken. The end.
And that’s it.
Sooo a lot of conflicted feelings coming at me from this, if you couldn’t tell. I guess first is the question of whether or not this could be considered canon.
Honestly? I think so. Both Ikuko Itoh and Junichi Sato, the people behind Princess Tutu, worked on this and presented it. They even had some of the Japanese VAs present to act it out. Additionally, as I’d mentioned previously, it addresses some questions that were left open due to the somewhat rushed ending of the anime’s finale. And nothing presented in this skit goes against the show’s canon or really comes out of left field (aside Charon and Raetsel man tf). It’s short and sweet.
Moving on, the first time I read this I was really happy, simply because it makes it clear that YES, Mytho does return Ahiru’s feelings. Which I guess was clear in the anime too, but this skit makes it undeniable. It’s nice to feel validated.
But as time goes on and I’ve had the chance to chew over and really digest it… It’s kind of a really crappy situation for our heroine and hero. Like, so they are in love, and they want to continue seeing each other… but Mytho is SUPPOSED to be spoken for with Rue, and Ahiru is a duck. Not to mention that Ahiru is Rue’s FRIEND. C’mon girl, chicks before dicks. Of course, they could still interact platonically, but the confession from Mytho in this skit kind of shot that possibility dead. And what about Fakir in this mess? Granted, Fakir isn’t stupid – he’s known that Ahiru loves Mytho from the beginning, and it’s not exactly like he can be in a relationship with a duck. But still.
Maybe I’m just looking too far into things, but with a piece this short and direct, I don’t know how deep you can really dive.
Anyways, my final thoughts are: Mythiru is canon but in the most tragic way possible, Rue deserves better, annnnnnd I’m still left unsatisfied.

Satin Slippers Part 1 - Allegro
okay so this is my first ever fan fic that i have posted! please let me know if you like it, if you want more, or if you have suggestions as to how i can improve!

Stark!Reader x High School!Peter Parker
Fluff-ish (I promise to get better at it!)
word count: 3178
You had always been such a daddy’s girl. Tony raised you all on his own, with some help from his dear mother, Maria. It was as if you were Tony’s shadow, constantly following him into the lab to work on parts for suits. If you were lucky, he’d let you help weld together the metals, after he put you in safety goggles, of course. You grew up listening to Black Sabbath, ACDC, Metallica and wearing converse while all the other little girls at school wore sparkly flats. To be honest, you didn’t care. Your dad always made you feel like the most important girl in the world, regardless if you had grease smeared across your cheek or sweaty hands from working in the shop.
As much as you cherished this time with your dad, you always looked forward to seeing your grandmother. She had fostered a love for the arts that was rooted as deep as your love for mechanics. She would take you to see the Nutcracker every year at The Metropolitan and enrolled you in piano lessons. This created an outlet of expression that you could share with her. This special bond between you and Maria, felt like the deepest, most sincere secret in the whole world, even though everyone knew about it.
The day she passed away, you had locked yourself in your room and listened to Chopin polonaises and waltzes until you fell asleep. Tony knew it was your way of coping with this impactful loss. He too felt comforted hearing the soft lull of Chopin fill the halls in the tower. Part of him wished that he had been able to create a bond with her the way she had with you.
------------------------------------------------------------------
“Hey Y/N!” your freckled friend, Annabelle, called. She plopped her anagrammed gym bag beside yours on the bench in the changeroom.
“Your jumps are getting so good! I can’t believe how you’re able to leap up with such force!” she exclaims sitting down on the wooden bench to untie her point shoes.
“Well, I just wish I looked half as graceful as you, Annie.” You joke back, bending down to untie your satin slippers. Annabelle was a tall girl with a slender frame, who lived and breathed ballet, way more than you ever did.
“Oh, you will! Practice makes perfect, you know!” She beams as she puts her blush coloured point shoes into her quilted gym bag and zips up her fleece sweater. “Well, I will see you next class. Have a good night!” Annabelle chimes as tosses her bag over her shoulder and skips out of the room.
A large sigh escapes your mouth. Finally, you we’re able to go home and eat. As much as you loved dance, you were always starving after since you always had to rush from school to dance. A granola bar and chocolate milk on the subway barely cut it after a taxing class. You we’re all preparing for the spring recital where you were going to perform Chopin’s Les Sylphides. Quickly switching your baby pink point shoes for some dingy, beat up converse, you wiggled into some boyfriend jeans and marched out the door ready to powerwalk back to the tower.
---------------------------------------------------
As the elevator doors slowly opened, you could smell the sweet scent of dinner. You had no idea who could be cooking, but it didn’t matter, if there was food waiting for you, you were happy.
“Hey Y/N! You hungry?” Steve’s voice calls from the kitchen. ‘Oh, looks like Dad has company tonight’, you thought to yourself. You enjoyed having the Avengers over. The company made the tower less quiet at night, especially if dad was away for business or busy in the shop while you were cooped up doing homework.
“Hey Steve, I’m starvin’ Marvin!” You smile, resting your dance bag on the couch as you walk into the kitchen. You noticed Peter sitting at the high top doing some type of math homework that you were grateful not to have. You give him a small wave and a smile that causes the boy to blush and give an incredibly enthusiastic smile.
“He-hey Y/N!” the boy stutters. He was so incredibly cute when he was embarrassed.
Peter was in the majority of your classes, but you had decided to take functions rather than algebra and calculus, leaving you to your own devices when it came to studying. Besides Ned, you were the only other student at the school who knew he was Spider-Man. Peter while shy, was always so kind. He would always be the first to help you with your homework even though you knew your dad would be able to help. You didn’t mind though, you secretly enjoyed spending that alone time with Peter. It’s as if knowing he is Spider-Man has created an intimate bond between the two of you. Part of you felt that it was more than a bond…you liked Peter, a lot, but you knew that telling him could cause a lot of tension especially in the tower and it was a huge problem when it came to missions and your safety. At least that’s what you assume your dad would tell you, as that was the exact reason your mother left him.
“Fantastic! I’ve made homemade mac and cheese that will be out of the oven in 5 minutes.” Steve replies, closing the oven after checking the casserole. He placed the red and blue checkered mitts on the counter before leaning over and giving you a hug.
“How was your dance class?” He asks, you could see Peter perk up when Steve asked you the question. Peter had no idea that you danced, let alone what genre.
Taking out the bobby pins and unraveling your hair from the mandatory top knot, you smile. Steve always cared about you and your interests. He has come to ever show and seems to truly enjoy everything you have to say about your passions.
“Steve, it was fantastic! Not to brag, but we we’re practicing jumps to see who will have a small solo for our spring recital, and I have to say…I kicked major ass! I was able to get so much air with full leg extension! Our ballet mistress was incredibly impressed. The music was just so inspiring that I let my body feel it, and it worked!” You beamed telling Steve your incredible news. You could see the pride in Steve’s eyes and he grinned at you with the most admirable look in his eyes. Peter just stared at you, completely mesmerized by your story.
“Of course, you did! You’re a superstar, kiddo!” A voice chimes from the door frame. Unbeknownst to you, your dad had walked in behind you, mid-conversation, and overheard the entire thing.
Out of pure love, he gives you a tight bear hug and kisses your cheek.
“You know Tony, she looks more and more like your mother every day.” Steve points out, patting the hair on the top of your head.
“Well, there could be uglier people that I could resemble.” You joke, elbowing Steve as he puts the oven mitts back on.
Peter nearly choked on the water he was drinking when he heard what you said. He had no clue as to what Mr. Stark’s mother looked like, but if she looked anything like Y/N, she must have been simply beautiful.
“Parker! Help me set the table!” Tony asks, waving a handful of forks and knives at the boy, pulling him out of his trance.
“Oh-uh, yeah, sorry Mr. Stark!” He mumbles, scurrying off the bar stool to grab a stack of plates. He could feel his cheeks grow warm every time he looked at you. Your H/C hair cascading down the nape of your neck looked so effortlessly beautiful, paired with your vibrant smile.
“Okay, boys and girls! Bon appetit!” Tony chimes, placing the casserole dish filled with golden mac and cheese in the center of the table. The smell dragged the rest of the Avengers from their hiding spaces to the table.
Once dinner had settled, Bruce, Peter and your dad left to work in the shop, while Natasha and Steve read in the parlor. Thor was on clean up duty and was struggling to scrape the casserole dish clean. Hearing his constant grunting and cursing under his breath, you took over.
“You know Thor, sometimes it’s better to let it soak a little.” You giggle, watching the God get frustrated over some melted cheese.
You could see the look of confusion on his face as you took the scrub brush out of his hands. Clearly the God has never had to wash the dishes before.
“It’s when you leave it in the sink filled with warm and soapy water, it helps to get all the crunchy bits off.”
“Ah! Like a warm bath!” Thor chimes, sounding so proud of himself.
“Yes, Thor. Like a warm bath!” You chuckle to yourself, seeing Steve raise an eyebrow as a smirk grew across his face.
“Natasha, I’m going to go work on some homework. Could you help Thor with this in 20 minutes?” You beg, Nat sighs as she looks up from her book.
“Only if Rogers can be on back up if Thor starts breaking mugs again.” Her dark eyes glare at Thor as a small smile forms on her lips.
“Go study, Y/N, we’ve got this.” Steve laughs as he lowers his newspaper just enough to look over it at you.
---------------------------------------------------------
You walk down the hall to your bedroom, passing by walls of photos filled with memories. There was something so comforting about reaching your room after a long day and shutting the door. It was as if it signified the long day finally being over.
Collapsing onto your bed, you flip open your lap top and run a hand through your tangled hair. ‘Hmm, what would pair nicely with my reading on World War 2 and Propaganda Tactics?’ you think to yourself as you scroll through your iTunes library. You settle on Debussy’s Arabesque No.1. As the music starts to fill your room, you light a couple of candles and crack open your thick history textbook.
Meanwhile, in the lab….
Bruce and Tony were hard at work patching up Peter’s spider suit as it had been practically demolished after their last mission.
Sitting on a stool, Peter watched the two men hard at work. He was just there for input.
“So, uh, Mr. Stark? H-how long has Y/N been dancing?” Peter asks quietly, a blush raising to his cheeks at the mention of your name.
Tony’s head perks up from the workbench and looked right at Peter. To him, it felt as if Mr. Stark was peering into his soul.
“Since she was small…Why?” Tony asks hesitantly, giving the boy a strange look.
“No reason…” Peter’s voice drifts off as he stares at the ground, feeling stupid for bringing it up.
“You know kid, you could just ask her yourself if you have questions.” Tony mentions as he attempts to fix a circuit on Peter’s suit. “Bruce, could you bring that light a bit closer?”
“Peter, she won’t bite your head off. She’s a sweet girl, just go talk to her.” Bruce says calmly as he adjusts the angle that he is holding the light to help Tony.
“Uh—No, no it’s okay...” Peter peeps shyly. His head felt like it was running in circles. He had talked to you before, he talks to you all the time when it comes to school work or at lunch in the cafeteria. But for some reason this felt so different, like a pill that was impossible to swallow. Peter could feel his cheeks getting hot and his palms starting to sweat.
“Well, are you just going to sit there, Parker? Or are you going to finally go make a move on my daughter?” Tony says nonchalantly, sighing as he zaps the circuit panel in the chest piece of Peter’s suit.
“What!?” Peter blurts, shocked at Mr. Starks quick words. Had Peter been that obvious?
Tony puts his tools down on the workbench and crosses his arms, giving Peter what felt to be a deadly glare.
“Kid, you sit here almost every night like a dog with its tail between its legs. All you do is ask questions about her-“
“and your face turns bright red.” Bruce adds, a gentle smile on his face, “Just go talk to her.”
“I bet she’s in her room. It’s down the hall from the kitchen, just don’t touch any of the sculptures. Pepper will have a bird if she sees finger prints.” Tony smirks walking over to give Peter a pat on the back.
“Speaking of, where is Pepper?” Bruce asks as Peter walks slowly and nervously out of the lab.
“Dubai for work!” Tony’s voice rang as Peter walked to the elevator.
With a deep sigh and the feeling that his heart was about to explode, the elevator doors closed and Peter thought he might die.
----------------------------------------------------
After an hour or so passes by, you ask yourself what the point of reading these chapters are when you have a living war relic in your living room. Giving up, you peel off your sweaty dance clothes and opt to have a relaxing shower.
Scrubbing the stress of the day away, music fills the speakers in your ensuite bathroom. You hum along happily as you wash your hair and rub your achy shoulders.
Just as you step out of the bathroom you hear a soft knock at the door.
“One second!” You call, as you hurry to throw on some comfortable clothing. You decide on a pair of grey joggers, a black sports bra and one of your dad’s zip up Black Sabbath hoodies.
“Come in!” You chime as you flip your head upside down to wrap your wet hair in a towel. As you come up, you see a bashful Peter Parker standing in the door.
“oh! I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were chang-showering, I-I can leave?” Peter panics as he lowers his gaze, his face slowly turning a bright shade of red.
“It’s okay, Pete. I’m all done anyway…what’s up?” You half smile, wrapping the sweater shut. You didn’t have the time to zip it up as you thought it might have been Natasha. She usually was the only person, other than Pepper, who would come into your room. You walk quickly to the edge of the bed and plop down. You pat the spot beside you to silently ask Peter to join you.
“Uhm, well your dad said you’d be in here and that I should ask you my questions instead of him…” Peter’s voice trails off, as his glace searches around the room, his heart pounding a mile a minute.
“Uhm…Yeah okay! What questions do you have? Just shoot!” You smile, trying to relieve the tension. There was something so charming about the way Peter got so uncomfortable. You knew it was because he was trying to be gentleman like and non-invasive, which was so incredibly endearing to you. You could feel a knot grow in your stomach being so close to the boy.
His warm brown eyes looked right at you and searched your face momentarily, you wondered what he could be looking at. You had never been able to look at him the closely before, his brown eyes had flecks of gold and orange in them.
Peter could see what Steve meant. He took a moment to look at the photo of Maria hung in the hallway on the way to your room. You shared the same eyes, nose and lips as her. The same charming and dazzling smile that could take your breath away. Steve had mentioned to him, one time, that you know you’re in love when someone can take your breath away from just one look and smile.
“Earth to Peter?” You laugh awkwardly as you wave a hand in front of his face, trying to get rid of the butterflies in your own stomach.
“Oh! I’m so sorry, Y/N!” He says, embarrassed for day dreaming. “I was wondering what type of dance you do? And how long you’ve been dancing? You didn’t specify earlier but maybe I shouldn’t have been listening-”
“Well, I have done jazz, tap, modern, lyrical and folk, but my one true love is ballet.” You smile, interrupting the rambling boy, scooting closer to him on the bed. “And I’ve been dancing since I was three.” You add, grabbing Peter’s hand. Peter gave you a surprised look.
“Wow! You must be like, really good.” He smiles. You had never noticed the freckles that ran across the bridge of his nose until now.
“Well, I wouldn’t go that far. I’m not nearly as serious as some people. But I enjoy it and it is something that I shared with my grandma. It will always be something that I cherish deeply…but it hasn’t been the same since she passed.” You sigh, looking down at your feet.
Peter could sense the sadness that slowly filled you. He presses up against you and you rest your head on his shoulder.
“I understand that.” He inhales sharply. “Uncle Ben and I loved everything Star Wars. We could binge watch them time after time, and every morning he would greet me with a line from one of the movies. I still love everything Star Wars…but it’s not the same. It feels kind of empty. May does try to say a line to me in the mornings, but she usually butchers it.” He chuckles softly, remembering the time she said for him to “take the high ground” to school.
You look up to Peter, his sad, brown eyes now looking at his calloused hands that are bunched up in yours.
“That exactly the feeling.” You say as you sit up and look at Peter with tears in your eyes, feeling as if someone finally understands how you feel.
“Uh, how about we change the subject?” He half-smiles as he tucks a strand of hair back into your towel wrap. “When do you have your next show?” Peter asks, a full smile forming on his face.
“In a couple of weeks actually. We’re putting on Chopin’s Les Sylphides.” You bite your lip as you wipe the tears from your eyes.
“Uhm, can-would people be able to come see that?” Peter asks shyly, his big brown doe eyes looking right at you.
“Of course! Steve comes to every single one.” You smile at the thought of having Peter there. This idea makes your heart leap in your chest.
Peter’s face lights up at the thought of getting to see you perform. “Cool!” Peter says a little too enthusiastically, “So I could come see you?” he asks so innocently.
“I’d love it if you came, Peter.” You smile, grabbing his hand again. The boy looks right at you, his free hand coming up and touching your cheek. His soft fingers tracing the growing blush that fills your cheeks.

The sublime Hee Seo. - Free Online Library
AT THE AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE STUDIOS in downtown Manhattan, Hee Seo explodes through the air in a jete, eves flashing, energy shooting through her luxuriously arched feet. Rippling her arms from her lithe back, her Odile gleefully seduces soloist Alexandre Hammoudi's Prince Siegfried, hinting at the elegance that her Odette will possess. In a sequence of renverses en dehors, her leg sails higher and higher a la seconde, soaring still to wrap around Hamnaoudi's body in an exquisitely shaped attitude, "Very good!" exclaims Kevin McKenzie, ABT's artistic director, followed by a slightly incredulous, "You really haven't been working on this?" It's the end of January, and Seo and Hammoudi are fighting the clock, having lost a week of rehearsal time when Seo was bedridden with the flu. It's lost time that they can ill afford. They'll be performing this pas de deux on tour in Asia in just a few weeks; come the Met season this spring, they will make their debuts in the full-length Swan Lake. For Seo (pronounced SUH) it will be the latest in a series of high-profile premieres, many with winning results. Last summer, on the heels of a gut-wrenching turn as Tatiana in Cranko's Onegin, she was promoted to principal dancer. Seo, 27, has long been in the spotlight thanks to her lyrical ability. "Number one, her physical proportions are pretty much textbook," says McKenzie in an interview. "And there's a unique feminine strength about her-it's that woman/child quality that leaves her open to a variety of roles." Seo began dancing recreationally at age 11 in her native Seoul. She participated in a competition at the prestigious Sun-hwa Arts Middle School and was then invited to attend on scholarship. "I don't think I pictured myself as a ballerina," says Seo, her accent only slightly detectable. "I didn't even know what that meant." At 13, another award brought her to the Universal Ballet Academy (now the Kirov Academy of Ballet) in Washington, DC, where she trained under Mariinsky ballerina Alla Sizova. After she won a Prix de Lausanne Award in 2003, Stuttgart Ballet director Reid Anderson invited her to attend the affiliated John Cranko Ballet Academy, where she performed occasionally with the company. That saine year, she won the Grand Prix at Youth America Grand Prix in New York, and John Meehan, then the director of the ABT Studio Company, invited her to come to New York following her year in Germany. The pace of the Studio Company, which demands that dancers master multiple roles quickly, came as a shock. "To her credit, she realized she needed to get her learning abilities up to speed," says Clinton SEO Blog9T Luckett, an ABT ballet master who was then an artistic associate of the studio company. Proving that she could handle what McKenzie calls the "chronic state of rehearsal" took some time. Seo spent a year as an apprentice, and, in the spring of 2006, became a member of the corps, where she performed soloist roles in Ballo della Regina and Tudor's Dark Elegies. In March 2009, on her 23rd birthday, she made her debut as Juliet. Her youthful and passionate rendition of the part, with Cory Stearns as her Romeo, made a powerful impact. A slew of leads--in Bournonville's La Sylphide, Ratmansky's On the Dnieper, and Kudelka's Desir--followed. She also gave spot-on portrayals of two spoiled rich girls: Gamzatti in La Bayadere and Olympia in Neumeier's Lady of the Camellias. But, much to her disappointment, a promotion still eluded her. "One thing I learned being in ABT is the word 'patient,' " remarks Seo. "In the corps, you have to wait. You have to work on yourself. Artistic," she says with a smile, referring to the artistic staff, "they are very patient with me." She continues, "When you hear, 'So when are you going to get promoted?' too many times, you have expectations for yourself." The promotion did come, in August 2010. "That was the happiest time of my life. I think I was a good soloist, meeting the level in how I present myself, in my performance, my rehearsals. If I do it well, 'She's a soloist who has principal qualities.' And if I do bad, 'She's only a soloist, she's young.' So there are excuses." A better "excuse" was that she was plagued by recurring injuries, due to instability in her ankle, preventing her from making scheduled debuts in The Nutcracker and The Bright Stream. To stay healthy and strong, Seo does Gyrotonic and light weightlifting. "But if I think, This is for the ballet, it gets boring. So what I think is, I should make a nice bikini body," she says, laughing. The 2012 Met season saw more breakthroughs: Seo's debut as Nikiya with Vadim Muntagirov, a guest artist from English National Ballet, and her sensational Tatiana in Onegin, a portrayal which she and partner David Hallberg built together. "She has a way of reaching into what feels natural to her, which I think for a ballet dancer, unfortunately, is seen as secondary to technique," says Hallberg. "Along with Osipova and Vishneva, she's the type of artist that you have no choice but to respond to [as a partner]. That, in essence, makes you a better artist." Onstage, the pair blasted through the ballet's final pas de deux, in which Tatiana rejects a repentant Onegin. When the curtain rose for bows, both dancers looked positively spent. Four weeks later, Seo was promoted again. "I didn't really ever have a doubt that she was principal material," says McKenzie. "It was a question of whether she could survive what it would take. I witnessed her able to finally get through a period of time and not get injured, keep her weight steady, keep her energy constant, and keep her concentration." It was an unexpected thrill for Seo. Her first thought? She needed to call her parents, even though it was in the middle of the night in Seoul. "Me and my mom are best friends," she says. "We have rough patches-I can't say I'm always a nice daughter. But she's always on my side, even when what I say is so stupid. Every time I'm upset about things, I'm perfectly normal outside, but when I go home, I call and let it out on her." During the Met season, Seo's mother travels to New York, "to watch my performances and take care of me." Seo's parents were able to celebrate her big promotion in person, as just days later, the company toured to Seoul, where Seo gave three performances as Giselle. She's "beyond excited" to perform Swan Lake this season. She relishes the opportunity to embody the dual characters, and build on her budding partnership with Hammoudi, with whom, lately, she's often been paired. She's also looking forward to Ashton's A Month in the Country, with Hallberg, in large part because of the Chopin music, her favorite composer. She is cast in one of Ratmansky's new creations and will also debut as Aurora, with Muntagirov. She feels lucky to be able to develop these roles with a range of partners. "It gives me a different energy, a different thought process of how I want to get there. And if I work with somebody who is new to the role, just like me, then we grow together." But just as in her Studio Company days, Seo faces the high-stakes pressure of preparing multiple ballets at once. "Even if I rehearsed for two years I wouldn't feel like it was enough time. It's scary. And I ask to other dancers, 'Does it get any better?' And they say no," she says, with a resigned laugh. She tries to view her anxiety as excitement rather than fear, but it can be overwhelming. "I never just feel one feeling: It's happy, it's sad, it's all mixed together. That's why dancers cry so much." She does receive emotional support from the artistic staff, and considers working with Natalia Makarova (who staged ABT's Bayadere) on Nikiya, and the late Georgina Parkinson on Juliet (she was Parkinson's last Juliet) to be highlights of her career. Her coaches, who include, for Odette/ Odile, McKenzie and Irina Kolpakova, allow her to find her own way. "They never tell me it's right or wrong, but always lead me to the right direction. I leave with a lot of homework-I finish rehearsal and then I'm always questioning why it didn't work, what can I do to fix it." Says McKenzie, referring to how she develops her roles, "She will take and observe, but she won't copy." Seo tries her best to strike a balance between work and life, but isn't having much success these days. "At 7:00, once I'm done here, I don't want to think about it at home," she says. "But after I got promoted, I think about ballet all the time, at 2:00 in the morning-what I want to do, how I want to do it." In her precious little downtime, "I don't do anything," she says dryly. "When I'm not working, I'm not moving." She does enjoy going out for a drink with close friends. "After a show or a hard week, I like to go to the spa to get my nails done or a massage, because that makes me feel like a very important person," she says, laughing. She's also thinking about buying her Blog9T first apartment, in Manhattan, and that newfound patience is coming in handy. Seo readily acknowledges that she still has much growing to do as an artist. "I can't say I enjoy myself as much as when I was a soloist. I don't feel the pride I had before. But I know I need to be patient and work on what I need to work on." "Your life changes after you get promoted," she continues, thoughtfully. "Everyone sees you differently, you have your own dressing room, your paycheck is bigger, you're doing more interviews. In a way, everybody serves you. But that's not who I am. That's just my position. I have to make myself a principal." For Seo, self-improvement starts with morning class here at 890 Broadway. "I learned how to be a professional at ABT, which makes this place special to me. I like our studio. I like to warm up with my friends and our pianist. Rough day, I come here, I feel calm. Ballet Research Ballet began in the 17th century and originated In the Italy Renaissance courts. The renaissance courts is the culture, style and type of art that has the effect of classical models. The renaissance began in the late 15th century and ended of the 1789. ballet started in the renaissance in Italy in the 15th century.Later on ballet then spread to France. This happened because Catherine de Medici of Italy married the French King Henry II, she then brought in dance styles into court life in France and this is how ballet spread from Italy to France. The first ever formal court ballet was called Ballet Comique De La Reine. This was in 1581 passed in 1581 at the French court. The types of audience to watch ballets were the upper class, the type that was wealthy and posh.Ballets was a thing where people would dress very dressy and formal. Academie royale de musique’s official name was Paris Opera. The name was given Paris Opera in 1671.Its original name was L'Académie d'Opéra in 1669.The Paris Opera is the primary opera company of France, established in 1669 by Louis XIV. Ballet developed from court dances in Italy and France that members of the public can go to. Wealthy people and including royalty, would try to compete against each other by having the most complex courts. Court dances were obtained from different steps and rhythms of people dances, but they were much more detailed. They featured complicated costumes, pa series of processions, poetry reading, music, and of course, dancing. The basic five foot positions was first used by Thoinot Arbeau in 1588, arranged by Pierre Beauchamp circa in 1680, and laid down by Pierre Rameau in 1725the positions are the starting and ending points for the detailed ballet movements. The first show case that the ballet courts performed was Ballet Comique De La Reine on October 15, 1581 to the ballet court of Catherine In the 18th century that was when the next big development happened and it occurred in Russia this was after the romantic era started. In the late 19th century, this was went classical ballet started to get rather advanced, also in the late 19th century ballet still as in now has a mixture of the French style of Romantic ballet, the techniques all developed in Italy in this Notes - - Napoleon appoints a commission to prepare a code of civil war which is code napoleon - Beethoven seeks medical advice for a very alarming condition,an increasing deafness - King George III was the 18th centry who lost the fight to keep control over the American colonies. -constant religious and political fighting Famous ballet masters from the 18th and 19th century •Filippo Taglioni-Italian dancer and choreographer, and personal teacher to his own daughter, the famous Romantic ballerina Marie taglioni. •Marius Ivanovich Petipa.-was a French and Russian ballet dancer, pedagogue and choreographer. Carlo Blasis is an Italian ballet teacher. She is also a writer on the technique, history and theory of dancing. Blasis is from Cernobbio,Italy. He danced at the Paris Opéra. In the 19th century, the reason was age of the imagination and the Romantic Movement. The romantic ballet era is defined primarily by an era classical ballet in which the ideas of Romanticism in art and literature influenced the creation of ballet The romantic ballet was a time of fantasy, etherealism, supernaturalism. Her famous and star role in the first romantic ballet, La Sylphide, she was trained by her farther a choreographer who helped create the way for women to become the center of ballet. Taglioni was one of the most celebrated ballerinas of the romantic ballet in 1832 Maria Taglioni was the first ballerina to dance a full-length ballet on pointe. Also she was known for making the skirt of the tutu shorter for more leg movement and to show off her hard work in pointe work.marie’s shoes were not anything like the pointe shoes of the 21st century. The first pointe shoes were flat simple slippers that was lightly reinforced by the dancer! Marie’s only support was darning around the toes. As we know marie wore the tutu that she had shortened in La Sylphide and it became the norm for tutus in the romantic period! Romantic ballets Luceafarul La Sylphide La Cachucha Grand pas de Diane chasseresse La Jolie Fille du Gand. La Sylphide,1832 Everything is rather slow and quite simple but at the same time it shows such a story. The movements between the man and the woman are as though they’re contacting each other through footwork which I think is so effortless and “romantic” the tutu is stunning and has so much detail on the top half. The woman’s performance skills are beautiful. The dancing is mainly all about the pointe shoes as they were fairly new and advanced. The “Incredible story of British ballet’s WWII roots revealed” newspaper article states that “World War Two was a perilous time for Britain” this shows that World War Two was a hard time for all citizens in Britain but yet for one group, the war proved an opportunity. ballet flourished in denmark in the late 18th century. The Royal Danish Theatre was made in 1771 influenced by the French ballet teacher Pierre Laurent and developed by August Bournonville. August Bournonville was a danish ballet master and choreographer. He was born in Denmark,he trained with his farther alongside studying with many choreographers. He created a unique style in ballet which is known as the “Bournonville School”.This is a method of ballet technique and training system, the technique is rather basic. Marius Petipa was a French and Russian ballet dancer and choreographer His choreography created the basic plot of The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Giselle and other famous productions at the Royal Ballet. He studied in Paris before going to work as a dancer around France. In 1847 he became principle dancer and ballet master of the Mariinsky. Fokine made ballet different as he was very talented not only as a dancer but also as a student of music and painting. He had a new, unique and fresh attitude toward anything connected with the ballet. He stated quite early to plan choreography,to look for appropriate music in libraries and to sketch designs. Fokine wanted ballet to be expressed by the movement of the whole body, and that there should be complete equality in the relationship among people of the component arts that make up a ballet dance, music, and scenic and costume design. Has Fokine rejected formal classical ballets like The Sleeping Beauty. He felt that dancing should be a truly expressive so he felt not only the dance should reflect on music and design be the costumes should reflect on this too. The image attached shows Michel Fokine posing in a costume like a sculpture. Modern ballet is also known as contemporary ballet is a style of dance that incorporates parts of classical ballet and contemporary dance.Classical ballet is directed more towards an audience but modern ballet is more traveled and the direction is around the room. This genre is akin to Western modern dance in form and technique, marinated in Bollywood for local flavour.Classical ballet is on the feminine side.Contemporary dance audience aren’t all about pointework.its more about part of the foot, or that deconstructed torso, where energy bounces into the torso. Martha graham Martha Graham’s work is very bold, she illustrates her movements by making them t jarring, violent, spastic and trembling kind of movements. She believed that by doing this it makes the physical expressions give outlet to spiritual and emotional that were entirely ignored in other contemporary dance forms. "With their gravity-defying leaps, unrivalled flexibility and flawless technique en pointe, classical ballerinas have dazzled audiences for decades." In the article is shows Bussell says You have to be much more diverse now as a dancer, so that’s the advice I’d give “So if there’s one thing you love, one style of dance, go for that but definitely experience as much as you can. Try every genre. Jaddyn Olivas Although I found the contents of this article intriguing, I found it hard to read. I sat in the library and fought to keep my eyes open even though I wanted the information it had to offer. What made this such a difficult read was the fact that it kept switching from talking about this image of La Sylphide and the relevance of the Romantic era. However, I did gain a greater understanding of this Romantic style that ballet adopted. I had always thought that Romantic ballet referred to a softer technique and long tutus. I was impressed that it entailed so much more. This reliance on stories was a new shift in performance and I was shocked to learn that most of the stories did not have happy endings, rather than the story outcome, “romantic” refers to the types of heroes these stories produced. Three days prior to reading this article I started a new show on Netflix, Versailles. This show follows the life of 17-18th century France and focuses on Louis XIV. Although his life was not greatly touched on in this article, because of that show, I understood the shift of male to female performers. I understand the allure of magical and morbid creatures after the Revolution. In following the story of Louis XIV I can see how the development of machinery and Louis’s love of etiquette transfer to the grandeur of putting on a show. Why was the shift of the sexes in the ballet world imperative? Why has ballet become less morbid? #pursuitofsylph #dancehistory
