Now that qualis are just hours away it’s time for some interesting trivias!
-Rut Castillo Galindo of Mexico  is set to become the oldest rhythmic gymnast to compete at the Olympics. She was born on 16 September 1990. Her and Anastasia Maksimova of the Russian group  (born 27 June 1991) will be the over 30 rhythmic gymnasts in the field.
-Viktoria Onoprienko  is the youngest individual in the field (DOB 18 October 2003). The average age of the individual field is 20.58 years.
-Laman Alimuradova  is the youngest and only 16-year-old gymnast of the whole field (born 29 November 2004)
-In individual only Laura Zeng  and Salome Pazhava  is in Tokyo from the 26 Rio participants.
-By now all individual medalists of the 2016 Games are mothers.
-From the groups Bliznyuk , Maksimova , Tatareva , Tsitsilina , Voznyak , Centofanti , Maurelli , Noshitani , Sugimoto , Yokota  are not first-time Olympians.
-Anastasia Bliznyuk  can be the first ever 3x Olympic champion in RG, as she's a gold medalist of London and Rio already.
-This is the Olympic debut in RG for Mexico  and Slovenia in the individual competition. Australia and Egypt qualified a group for the first time.
-Only Italy , Japan  and China  participated at every RG Olympic competition. Of course Russia, Ukraine, Belarus etc. used to be under Soviet flag (and then United Team) until the dissolution of the USSR. Bulgaria – along with the majority of the Eastern bloc – boycotted the 1984 Games when RG debuted at the Olympics.
-This is the first time ever that Spain  did not qualify any rhythmic gymnasts to the Olympics. Greece  saw its qualifying streak from 1988 to 2016 broken.
-Hungary  is back to the Olympics in RG after a 21-year wait.
-Mizuno, Feeley, Meleshchuk and Russo switched from individual to group.
-Lidiia Iakovleva (born in Russia, competing for Australia ), Anastasia Salos (born in Russia, competing for Belarus ), Salome Pazhava (born in Russia, competing for Georgia ), Alexandra Agiurgiuculese (born in Romania, competing for Italy ), Ekaterina Vedeneeva (born in Russia, competing for Slovenia ), Elizaveta Pletneva (born in Russia), Lili Mizuno (born in Japan), Yelyzaveta Merenzon (born in Ukraine), Yelizaveta Luzan (born in Ukraine), Arina Tsitsilina (born in Russia), Polina Fouda (born in Latvia), Tia Sobhy (born in the USA), Daniela Mogurean (born in Moldova), Anastasia Bliznyuk (born in Ukraine) are the gymnasts who compete for a country that was not their birthplace.
-Gymnasts who took part at the 2018 YOG who also made it to Tokyo: AUS Lidiia Iakovleva, AZE Yelyzaveta Luzan, BRA Maria Eduarda Arakaki, EGY Tia Sobhy, UKR Khrystyna Pohranychna.

Tokyo Olympics 2020 Individual Qualifications
Rotation 1
Maria Alves Lopez Hoop - Not a very successful first routine for her, sadly. Drop and hoop goes OOB. Only a 7.550
Fanni Pigniczki Ball - Good clean routine, except for one drop 😢 A bit of a lack of amplitude of her jumps. 22.400
Katrin Taseva Hoop - Tiny E mistakes and she had some close calls. A good start fort her! 24.450
Alina Adilkhanova Ball - good start for her, no major mistakes. 22.450
Ekaterina Vedeneeva Hoop - very confident firs routine! Pivots not as good as usual, she’s capable of more rotations. Execution wise she was the cleanest so far, as it should be. 22.800
Alexandra Agiurgiuculese Ball - New leo for her and it looks so nice! No drops and nice BDs, the backscale was so pretty. Some catches for a bit forced and that will lower the E. 25.600!
Boryana Kaleyn Hoop - drop for Boryana right in the end of the routine just like in Varna. She’s devastated 😢 24.100
Zohra Aghamirova Ball - she’s so calm and collected, she even smiled for a bit! Good to see her off to a good start ❤️ 23.400
Arina Averina Hoop - she’s a bit more expressive than usual, which is nice to see. A clean routine for her! 27.225
Evita Griskenas Ball - quick save right before the end. A bit of trouble during some of the catches. She and her coach are happy! 23.400
Nicol Zelikman Hoop - very confident start! She has a chance at top 10 here, but no matter what she’ll be the leader of the team next quad! 24.350
Laura Zeng Ball - not the first rodeo for her, she’s confident and she even smiles! Quick thinking from her and managed to save some throws gone awry. That front balance should’ve disappeared yesterday because it’s criminal 🙈 23.700
Anastasiia Salos Hoop - deviated throw but she gets it! A bit short on her signature risk and had to take a rotation out from under it I think so she could save it. Her penche pivot always gives me heart attacks 🙈 25.700
Lidiia Iakovleva Ball - she’s doing a really good job here! Nice pivots. A long throw, but she saved it right in time! 19.800
Salome Pazhava Hoop - I was so worried for her going into these Games 🙈 She started well, hopefully she’ll keep up the good job. Too bad she doesn’t have a higher D. 23.550
Rut Castillo Galindo ball - almost dropped when a roll didn’t go as planned, but she saved it! She’s so happy to be here! ❤️ 22.700
Linoy Ashram hoop - she almost went OOB and trampled the replacement apparatus! SUCK A STUPID MISTAKE! She miscalculated and dropped the hoop and also the BD won’t count. THIS IS NOT HAPPENING! DROP AND OOB AND FINISHES WITH NO APPARATUS! 😭 Ugh this is going to be bad, especially since the judges are so harsh 🙈 Only a 23.500
Ekaterina Fetisova Ball - here I was thinking she was holding up well after being called to compete on such a short notice, but then she went ahead and dropped and OOBed 🙈 19.400
Dina Averina Hoop - the twins are neck in neck, the final will be tense. Better balances than usual. 27.625
Alina Harnasko ball - Harnasko is here to kill! Great start, clean and confident. Played it a bit safe with her pivots, doing fewer rotations so she could make sure there’s no additional steps. 27.200
Khrystyna Pohranychna hoop - that leaps series in the beginning is always 🤌🏻. No troubles for her! Proving that she’s the right choice! 24.600
Sumire Kita Ball - close call, fortunately she got it. Oh she changed her mind in the middle of the move. Maybe an AD she didn’t want to risk doing. 23.900
Habiba Marzouk Hoop - very expressive! So nice to see Egypt represented here! 21.700
Chisaki Oiwa ball - absolutely wonderful penche pivot. Drop, no steps to retrieve the apparatus. Ugh Chisaki, why?! 19.600
Viktoriia Onopriienko hoop - a bit shaky but she pulled through. 23.800
Milena Baldassarri ball - tiny mistakes but she did great otherwise! 25.700

Tokyo Olympics 2020 Individual qualifications
Rotation 3
Marcia Alves Lopes clubs - BDs looked a bit better than they looked with the other apparatus. 12.550
Fanni Pigniczki ribbon - it’s good that she gets ribbon out of the way. Ugh deviated throw and she rushes to catch it. Tangles in the ribbon. Another tangle and she stops to slightly adjust the ribbon so she can throw it. Fortunately no drop for her. 19.450
Katrin Taseva clubs - she’s holding back a bit. She’s not quite there with he catches and ADs. Playing it safe in order to make it into the final. 24.400
Alina Adilkhanova ribbon - knot and she has to stop to fix it. No replacement needed, fortunately. She has to wait to catch the ribbon in the end and that pause will be penalized. 18.600
Ekaterina Vedeneeva clubs - DROP RIGHT IN THE END oh no such a pity it was such a beautiful routine 🥲 22.550
Alexandra Agiurgiuculese ribbon - pretty penche to start the routine. Oh she hesitated for a bit before catching the ribbon. Didn’t go through the backscale pivot. DROP and this is her way out of the top 10😭 Spela is definitely not happy 🙈 19.250
Boryana Kaleyn clubs - quite a lot of steps and adjusting in order to catch the clubs. She looks so tired poor thing. 26.600
Zohra Aghamirova ribbon - drop! This was such a good routine up until that point. 19.900 only
Arina Avetina clubs - had to reach a bit to get the first risk. Pretty ring pivot. She almost missed that under the leg catch and had to stop for a bit to adjust. Good routine overall! 28.100
Evita Griskenas ribbon - deviated throw but she gets it in time. Drop, oh dear! Finished after the music so that’s going to be penalized. 20.775
Nicol Zelikman clubs - third routine in row that she’s completed successfully! She is doing an awesome job today and hopefully tomorrow too! ❤️ 24.950
Laura Zeng ribbon - tangle during dance steps and it takes a little while to fix it. 21.000
Anastasiia Salos clubs - DROP and two steps needed to retrieve the club. It’s ok Nastya get it out of your system before tomorrow! 24.550
Lidiia Iakovleva ribbon - tangle but she’s quick to fix it. Throws it far and has to run to get it. Pretty ring pirvot. Another tangle during the combined balance. At least she didn’t drop. 16.050
Salome Pazhava clubs - omg what a save! I’m so happy she went back to this routine. Great job for her! 23.500
Rut Castillo Galindo ribbon - had to reach to catch the first risk. Drop. Another deviated throw. Oh no another drop! Ribbon is a slow torture for them🙈 16.200
Linoy Ashram clubs - she got it out of her system with that catastrophic hoop routine. Amazing routine! 27.850
Ekaterina Fetisova ribbon - she looks so overwhelmed by everything poor thing 18.350
Dina Averina clubs - had to save a throw and caught too close to the body, but that was otherwise a clean routine. 28.275
Alina Harnasko ribbon - small tangles but she pulls through. Almost dropped but she got it. Misses ADs but fortunately she didn’t have a major drop. 21.750
Khrystyna Pohranychna clubs - nice job for her. If she makes the final it’s a huge slap in the face of Deriugina! 🙊 25.700
Sumire Kita ribbon - the leo is horrendous. She’s the only one so far who didn’t have any major mistakes. Great routine for her. 21.200
Habiba Marzouk clubs - a very unfortunate drop in an otherwise nice routine. Not very steady BDs. 21.100
Chisaki Oiwa ribbon - another victim of ribbon 😢 21.250
Viktoriia Onopriienko clubs - nice and clean. Who would’ve expected Vika to be so clean AT THE OLYMPICS given her ukrainian head?! 26.100
Milena Baldassarri ribbon - oh she almost dropped it but she reacted quickly and got it. Small tangle. She can be relieved, she did a good enough job with ribbon to get into the final. 20.150

Tokyo Olympics 2020 Individual Qualifications
Rotation 2
Marcia Alves Lopes ball - hand down during a balance. Happy she didn’t have any major drops like with hoop! 13.200
Fanni Pigniczki hoop - big deviated throw which she manages to save just in time, steps on the line however. Drop. Jettes lacked amplitude 🙈 21.200
Katrin Taseva Ball - ugh almost dropped it, but what a fight to keep it from falling off her back! Catches with two hands and the E will take a hit. 24.600
Alina Adilkhanova hoop - OOB for her. The hoop basically flew right out of her hand during a jette😢20.550
Ekaterina Vedeneeva ball - a second clean routine! She’s doing a great job here today! Pity she doesn’t have a slightly higher D. 23.550
Alexandra Agiurgiuculese hoop - drop and hoop goes OOB but then returns. She went for the replacement, didn’t see if she actually touched it or not. Other small mistakes which will drag down the E score. Ughh🙈 22.050
Boryana Kaleyn ball - close call and she got it with two hands. Almost went OOB. 25.800
Zohra Aghamirova hoop - another successful routine for her. She really has a strong head these Games. Her BDs could’ve been a bit better, though. 23.000
Arina Averina ball - loss of balance during penche and put her hand down. She has 2 hours of being scolded by Viner ahead 🙈 27.250
Evita Griskenas hoop - good work for her! Better than ball, though! 23.675
Nicol Zelikman hoop - she was so relieved to finish😂 She’s really impressive, so confident so far. 25.500
Laura Zeng hoop - drop and step to retrieve it. Weird deviated throw but she saved it. I think she might’ve done the same balance twice, but I am not sure. The E score will be seriously affected. 22.000
Anastasiia Salos ball - she finished a bit abruptly, but a clean routine nonetheless! 26.300
Lidiia Iakovleva hoop - heel down during the ring pivot. No major mistakes for her, which is a big deal given her lack of international experience. 20.600
Salome Pazhava ball - small drop, but she did great otherwise! ❤️ 21.950
Rut Castillo Galindo ball - missed a catch, had to put two hands on the hoop to steady it. 22.350
Linoy Ashram ball - didn’t close the shape of her ring balance without hands. A bit rushed sometimes, but otherwise clean! 28.250
Ekaterina Fetisova hoop - deviated throw and she had to run to get it. Missed some of the ADs, but at least she didn’t have any major mistakes à la Fetisova 🙈 19.800
Dina Averina ball - heel down during the first balance. That ball touching the forearm gives me nightmares, though. 27.600
Alina Harnasko hoop - she’s so clean and confident that it’s a crime not to give her 9s for her E! If she competes her full difficulty tomorrow and Linoy is less than stable, she’s going to give her a run for her money! 26.400
Khrystyna Pohranychna ball - if one Ukrainian qualifies, it’s gonna be her. She’s really doing a great job today so far! Some bent elbows that will cost her, but nothing major. 23.800
Sumire Kita hoop - tiny hops during the attitude pivot; tripped on her hoop and fell during the dance series 🥲 23.150
Habiba Marzouk ball - no big mistakes and she’s so happy! ❤️ 22.150
Chisaki Oiwa hoop - it’s not Chisaki if she doesn’t have at least one drop in each routine. She almost went OOB with her hoop during the ending pose. We might as well call her ukrainian 😂 23.100
Viktoriia Onopriienko ball - fell out of the penche pivot. Close call, almost went OOB trying to save the throw. 24.300
Milena Baldassarri hoop - struggled a bit during one of the catches. Very nice combined pivot in the beginning! She’s doing a great job so far. Two routines like these and she’s top 10 no doubt. 24.550

Tokyo 2020 Individual Qualifications
Rotation 4
Marcia Alves Lopes ribbon - big throw and has to run to get it, but doesn’t make it in time. Small tangle. Steps on the ribbon and almost drops because of that. This is her last olympic routine! She can finally breathe after a very long day. 9.550
Fanni Pigniczki clubs - drop and follows with another during a BD. The rest of the routine is good. Such a pity for those mistakes! 21.350
Katrin Taseva ribbon - knot and she stops a little to fix it. Fortunately she was quick. Struggle right in the end and misses the risk in the end. Stops abruptly. Oh, Katrin this will cost you dearly. 17.650
Alina Adilkhanova clubs - drop. Fatigue is creeping in. Not bad for the rest of the routine. 22.200
Ekaterina Vedeneeva ribbon - clean last routine for her. She had such a great competition here! ❤️ 20.800
Alexandra Agiurgiuculese clubs - SUCH A GOOD ROUTINE!! I am so happy that dhe at least gets to finish on a high note! ❤️ 24.150
Boryana Kaleyn ribbon - small tangle. She throws too far and she catches the ribbon right above the line! Drop right before the end and missed the last throw. Such a mess with ribbon today 😢 19.150
Zohra Aghamirova clubs - drop, fortunately nothing major. She was doing so well 🙈 21.500
Arina Averina ribbon - the best ribbon routine so far 23.600
Evita Griskenas clubs - silly drop, such a pity because the rest was good. 23.850
Nicol Zelikman ribbon - small drop, recovers quickly. 21.100
Laura Zeng clubs - missed risk, no steps to retrieve the apparatus. 24.700
Anastasiia Salos ribbon - of course she had to hit ribbon and make mistakes with clubs when the whole field does otherwise 😂 22.600
Lidiia Iakovleva clubs - pretty pivots! She finished the competition with a great routine and she’s very pleased! 🎉 22.350
Salome Pazhava ribbon - no final this time for Sali, but what a competition! So happy to see her smiling while exiting the carpet! ❤️ 20.650
Rut Castillo Galindo clubs - OH NO such a pity she dropped right in the ending pose 🙈 21.500
Linoy Ashram ribbon - deviated risk but she saves it, close call. Another one, this time less scary. 23.500
Ekaterina Fetisova clubs - drop and another. Missed the club in a throw without hands🥲 17.950
Dina Averina ribbon - a bit of a struggle right before the ending, she had to run to get the ribbon. BDs could’ve been sharper. Arina was better with ribbon. 22.800
Alina Harnasko clubs - Ughhh big drop for her, lost both clubs🙈 23.900
Khrystyna Pohranychna ribbon - damn it big mistake right in the beginning. And a tangle right in the end, but fortunately she managed to catch the ribbon in time. 19.000
Sumire Kita clubs - good finish for her. A clean final routine! 24.550
Habiba Marzouk ribbon - knot for her. Only 8.400.
Chisaki Oiwa clubs - pretty colours on her leo. That penche in the beginning is God sent. Really good final routine! 23.600
Viktoriia Onopriienko ribbon - had to run for the ribbon and almost lost her footing there. Nothing happened, fortunately. It was good enough to get her into the top 10! 21.250
Milena Baldassarri clubs - a tiny mistake, didn’t see if the ribbon actually touched the ground to count as a drop. Great routine! She must be exhausted. She was also the last one to compete today. 25.650
