''i know we've done some...questionable things. but this...this is something else.'' she didn't have it in her for a sarcastic comment to the other, she was sad that her mother played them all pretending she wanted all of her family back together when in reality it was to destroy it once more. it's like she'd forgotten she'd done this to them in the first place. ''I hope she can live with her choice.''

there was a level of...awkwardness in the air. of course, caroline had known something was up - elena had met with esther privately after all - but this? the spell that elena explained...it sounded cruel.
