i know we love to rag on Siffrin for feeling so miserably guilty and manipulative for the crime of [checks notes] “doing nice things for their friends so that they’ll be happy and care about him even if it’s not perfectly sincere on his end”

but like. in context i don’t think that thought process is anywhere near as nonsensical as it always sounds written out like that

i’m sure i’m just stating the obvious here but it’s not really about the “crime” of making people happy. it’s about what he’s not doing, which is anything that would allow their friends to have any real knowledge or agency over the situation they’re all in.

it’s about never acting according to his real feelings in the moment and letting them see the messier version of him that exists now, never allowing their relationships to evolve or develop meaningfully beyond the “safest” iteration, the thing that is Known and produces the Correct Results, because anything else has the possibility of leading to negative emotions towards Siffrin.

Siffrin knows he’s not really doing all this for their benefit, not entirely, because the “right” thing to do would give them the full context to choose how they feel and what to do about it. they’re happy, but in a way they don’t get to keep. they’re happy, but in a way that keeps Siffrin safe from anything more complex and real. they’re happy, but only because some Siffrin in the past said the right things once, and this new, bitter, lonely, desperate version wouldn’t know how to get the “correct result” without a script to follow. they’re happy, and it was real once, it meant something once, but not anymore.

they cared about that Siffrin, yes, but would they still care about this one, if they knew? if Siffrin ever allowed them to know? (he won’t, he can’t, he refuses.)

and there’s something that could have been said in favor of Siffrin allowing himself this “selfishness” if it made him happy anyway, if it could be a genuine source of comfort in a difficult situation—but it doesn’t! not really! because that guilt is there, because that fear is there, because of how flimsy it all inevitably feels.

so they’re not doing it for their family’s benefit, because that happiness is predicated on lies and ignorance. he’s barely doing it for his own benefit, because they’re torturing themself by revealing things they no longer want to reveal, concealing things they no longer want to conceal, acting out of fear of rejection rather than genuine desire for connection. who benefits from this hollow “kindness,” really?

that’s why the last loop had to be the ugliest one. Siffrin had to see that the worst could happen and there could still be love and connection on the other side. that even when the party sees the worst of him, when they have the agency he’s been knowingly denying them, they will still choose to love him.

When Grian first starts taking care of Xelqua, he doesn’t know how old he is—he still doesn’t know Xelqua’s age exactly.

So he puts him through a bunch of little tests and questions to try and figure it out.

Xelqua is autistic tho, Grian figures this out fairly quickly (he is Also autistic), so Xelqua has a little bit of a delay with certain things—he’s pretty clumsy, and quick to tantrum if he’s upset. It makes the age guessing a tiny bit harder

Xelqua is also so so short. He’s TINY.

Grian can only guess he’s 3 or 5 years old, somewhere in that range.

I’m really in to predator/prey, especially if the prey is a virgin, but I hate when the prey is like barely legal or doesn’t know what sex is in the first place. Makes it feel kinda scummy. It borders on to ddlg which isn’t personally my thing. I think my specific fantasy would be smart, capable prey (who just happens to be a virgin) trying to escape from their predator who wants them BADLY and is willing to do whatever it takes to get the pounce on them, whether it’s by manipulation or outsmarting them. Basically what if the end goal of Carmen Sandiego was finding her so that you could have sex. As you can see this is a very specific kink which I’ve only found 2 fics that are in this wheelbarrow, one being a transformers fic and because of that I’m now sort of into wireplay but that’s a whole other bag of cats entirely.

i feel like the virginity has to be what makes this so specific but then again i don't know enough about primal predator/prey stuff to know if youthful innocence is usually a part of it

things I wish I could relive for the first time again:

that magical window where you finish a new piece of media, having watched/read it all by yourself with no fandom contact whatsoever, and you are just so happy about it, and full of interesting theories and takeaways, and just in love with it as a gorgeous piece of art.

because I swear to god as soon as you join the fandom for anything, you're bombarded with how you're supposed to view characters and their arcs, how you're supposed to morally and ethically judge the plot and the ways it apparently failed to present the right message, and if you don't you'll either be shunned for not sharing the popular headcanons or you'll be harassed for not criticizing the source material enough.

like how is it that the fans of a piece of media are also the ones being the most negative about it? If I like a show or a movie or a book, well, I liked it. That's kind of the point. I'm actually not here to tear it apart and talk about how it didn't live up to standards other people had! I enjoyed it for what it was, and forcing myself to find negative things to say about it doesn't actually bring me more enjoyment of it or reap any benefit to me. Fandom's a double-edged sword; you want to join a community to share your love for a piece of art, and the price you pay for a modicum of joy is a mountain of negativity. that's one main reason that I never engage with fandom until I'm completely done with a show, because if I was plugged into all of that commentary and discourse during the process, I'd be completely colored by how I'm expected to interpret everything this piece of art is presenting to me without being able to even form my own opinions.

Beyblade X Episode 39: The Greatest Blader

This episode was ONE heck of a ride that’s what I’m going to say (pretending like I’m not shaking in my boots right now)

Okay so you guys know when the episode starts, Robin says the title out loud, right? When he said it, it sounded lower and more… I can’t quite pin the feeling but, it was like a suspenseful sort of tone, if you get what I mean. I might be reading too much into this but I really liked how it made me just cling to the edge of my seat just ITCHING and waiting to see the battle

ALWAYS ALWAYS love to see family interactions and especially Bladers when they were tiny, LOOK AT BABY TITUS HE’S ADORABLE!!! I love that his launch form here implies he’s been keeping it until the present (because it’s the same in the present), he looks like a lion cub trying to be intimidating but not quite enough

And the way Quinn doesn’t hold back in her battles even if it’s against her own grandson, she’s making sure to teach him everything there is which is GAHHH it’s nice to see

Then…

I LOVED HOW THEY DID THIS. 100% SO CLEVER THIS IS AMAZING. X can mean a LOT of things, and here, it’s the variable in Quinn’s equation. She thought she would know the outcome, but it turns out X can be a lot of numbers… and in this case, numerous results and numerous X-treme Dashes. X can be ANYTHING. Jaxon is pretty much unpredictable and he doesn’t fit in Quinn’s equation because he’s X.

And when she started to realize Jaxon isn’t anything or anyone she’s seen before—

He just outright says “Tell me this Miss Quinn. Of the 9 that won against you… were any of them like me?” IN A SHAKY VOICE, BUT WITH THE WAY THE LINE IS SAID, YOU CAN TELL HE’S SMILING AND LO AND BEHOLD WE HAVE ANOTHER UNHINGED JAXON EXPRESSION!!! I kind of wish we had another unhinged laugh accompanying this, but I think the face was already too much 😭 JAXON WHY ARE YOU SMILING LIKE THAT I DROPPED MY PHONE WATCHING THIS EPISODE SEEING THIS

anyways Jaxon did win in the end with an X-treme Finish with ONE hell of a hit that freaked me out, I wish we had a more drawn out battle but I guess Jaxon was so hyped about battling her he forgot to tone it down (I do think he tries to battle people at the level he thinks they’d perform at sometimes so it’s fun for him. He still confuses me quite a bit…)

Special shout-out to Multi who hugged Robin on screen they’re adorable, I LOVE WHEN TEAM PERSONA CELEBRATES CUZ THEY ALWAYS HUG AND STUFF but seeing this made me smile wide. (In the volumes of the manga I’ve read so far, Multi isn’t as affectionate to Robin as she is with Jaxon instead. Studio took some creative freedom and I’m glad their dynamic is like this in the anime)

PACKUN WAS SO SALTY AT THEIR DEFEAT BUT QUINN GAVE HIM A TALKING TO AND I JUST CAN’T UNDERSTAND HOW HIS BRAIN WORKS, HE HATES THE MERE SIGHT OF ROBIN SMILING 😭 YOU CRUSHED HIM WASN’T THAT ENOUGH??? YOU MOCKED HIM AND INSULTED HIM AND NOW YOU’RE MAD SEEING HIM CELEBRATE WINNING WITH HIS TEAM? Packun is just. Man.

But before that, Quinn talked about how each of the Bladers she lost to were the same as Jaxon, “enjoying Blading openly and earnestly, giving everything they had. Though there was one exception.” And I am positive that this silhouette is Chrome there is no way it isn’t him. But what I’m REALLY picking at is how Quinn is talking about how the Bladers were the same as Jaxon. Except Chrome. Each Blader enjoyed Blading openly and earnestly. Except Chrome. I think that Chrome and the “X” in his heart— I think this is implying that Chrome wants to be like Jaxon. He wants to be the same as him. But someone like Quinn points out that Chrome won’t be and isn’t the same as Jaxon. He won’t be able to truly be like the “X” he’s chasing to be. I’m still confused about Chrome’s motives, but I’m thinking he wants Jaxon to come back and stay in Pendragon. Well now that I look at it, Sigrid was told by Chrome to leave Jaxon alone so I’m not so sure about that— he does seem focused on getting strong though, that’s for sure.

We saw Pendragon getting interviewed and I started laughing nervously because:

Chrome seems to have no interest in Team Persona being the next possible team to battle him and Sigrid. In the earlier episodes he was smiling and saying he was going to battle Jaxon for certain, but now he seems disinterested. I don’t think it’s a facade either, we saw him slipping with that during his match with the bot on live TV

Sigrid looks so annoyed by this. I DON’T KNOW WHY SHE IS BUT IT MADE ME LAUGH BECAUSE SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE JUST WANTS TO GO BACK TO HER ROOM AND RELAX BUT ALL THE REPORTERS ARE BLOCKING HER WAY OUT

I had another dream about Baldi!!

We were in a grocery store this time, and the goal was to get all the groceries I needed, while trying not to let him tag me...

He actually talked more in this one, and he was playful and kinda teasing XD

He also looked the same as his in-game self, and was around the same height as me! I remember him literally being right behind me most of the time... He was so FAST....

I turned around to look behind me at one point and went, "WHY ARE YOU RUNNING NORMALLY?!?!" It was just so jarring to see him running normal instead of slapping his ruler XD I also remember dodging in and out of carts & other things to try and slow him down!

Near the end of the dream, I was so tired & & out of breath, and he was just as energetic as always... I had all the groceries, was trying my darndest to make it to the exit of the store, all the while with him literally right on my tail... I think he was even trying to go a bit easy on me at this point, bc he should have easily been able to catch me...

I got outside and it was raining! I then started frantically looking for my car bc I had to make it to the car to win! I was JUUUST about to get to my car when he tagged me! I was so mad XD

He seemed like he was intentionally letting me get that close and then catching me, the little menace XD

You gather your nerves a moment, which is fair, strange doors have not been so innocuous for you as of late, then creep up to the establishment and push open the door, it gives easily and quietly you slip in, behind the door is small hallway with thick curtains you brush aside, you're looking at a small illuminated room that you would guess is the entrance to the museum, but there's no one manning the front, you call out and knock on the desk yet no answer, you've already come this far so you go further in.

At first it's just pictures on the walls in moderately open spaced windowless rooms, the pictures themselves are interesting, supposed creatures sighted, this places versions of UFO's and Bigfoot's, but also nothing you haven't flipped past in the books you've been searching, the next room is the same and you're beginning to feel the weight of your trespassing misconduct the longer you linger, the museum seems to be set up in a circle so if you keep going forward you should end up back at the front so you move on, the next room has a large curtained off display that takes up most of the back wall, your curiosity piqued you move to pull aside the curtain, the fabric is soft and slides beneath your fingers, you raise it just enough to see a picture on the wall of a strange landscape, short blue and grey plants and a dusty pink sky, in the picture is a smiling man holding a book and looking passed the camera, on his jacket dangles a white key...

"May I ask for an explanation?! Our door is closed for the night hours."

You drop the curtain and turn to find an older gentleman looking at you from across the room, he seems irritated and mildly alarmed, you hurriedly apologize and explain the door was open and rush to ask about the display behind the curtain, he is not impressed with your questions and asks that you leave, realizing your unfortunate situation you acquiesce and ask for the hours you can visit instead, he gives you a time and pointedly tells you the cost of the entrance fee as well, you head back to your friends place, your heart in your throat, this is the closest you've been to figuring out what to do next in almost a week, the itchy paranoia of last worlds government catching you shadowing your every move.

You reach your friends place, they're still out probably picking up dinner, you are still caught off guard at times by how similar this place is to your world, sure their versions of things are a little odd, the tv is circular, doorframes rounded out, other little oddities, it's all so similar though you may as well just be in another country maybe, with a strange accent.

You decide to take this moment to add to your journal and look over your things, while you did a quick inventory check when you first got here you haven't checked the items themselves until now.

Your walkie crackles when you flip it on, same as ever.

Your phone remains serviceless but fills its charge when you turn it on and off. Interestingly you notice it trying to pick up a wifi signal and when you check there seem to be a couple networks nearby, locked though.

The funnel still amplifies the noises around you and you hear the neighbors discussing something on the tv next door as clearly as if they were speaking to you. When you look through the funnel you don't notice anything. You hold it back up to your ear listening to all the different things around you and pull out the spinning top, as soon as the top hits the table the noise disappears, confused you look at the funnel and then listen again, but no noise, the top falls over and the noise returns. Strange.

The berries taste fresh and make you feel better, but you are running low even though you resupplied a bit before leaving.

The dog tags seem unchanged and your key and whistle seem the same as ever.

When your friend gets back you ask about the wifi, they call it something else, but once you parse it out they help you set it up. Your phone can now access their version of the internet so your friend shows you a program to message them just in case. They also give you a device to keep in your pocket that connects you to the wifi wherever you go, so you can contact them while you're out and about. You tell them about the museum you saw earlier, how you think it may be a lead, and the old man running the place. They seem excited for you and make plans to join you tomorrow to go see it.

You go to bed that night thinking of your plans for the morning and turn over the strange dreams or images you remember from when you passed through the door. You slip off into an uneasy sleep, gold threads weave from dream to dream until you stand before an open doorway of light, something about this doorway is wrong though, you can feel it, you reach out to touch, the crackles of energy electrifying the air...someone reaches out and stops you, you can't see their face but you hear them as if through water. You can almost make out the words...you know they're speaking to you, you just can't hear it well enough.

You turn to them, but you still can't see anything but their lips, it looks like their telling you to stop...to go...you can't make it out.

"...op...ea...G...ome!"

With that last echoing and indecipherable shout you awaken to the dark room, the walkie crackling from where you left it.

"S....l....o...h..." You fumble with it a second but the sounds die out no longer sounding like anything but static again. You don't end up sleeping much after that.

The next day you both head out to go to the museum. You take a minor detour to check the Door, but when you get close you see the alley has been blocked off, you notice some people from the last dimension around, their odd features sticking out to you but hidden away to fit in with the locals.

You cross the street with your friend and try to stay inconspicuous. Probably best stay away from here going forward.

You guys make it to the museum and head inside where the old man from last night mans the desk, your friend pays for the tickets and he hands them to you along with a pamphlet.

You don't bother looking at all the things you saw last night, your friend follows though obviously intrigued by the pictures. You reach the curtained wall and pull back the fabric, but find there's nothing there, dusty spots frames may have hung and empty tables where things had obviously been displayed are all that's left.

In shock you stand confused, your friend catches up and looks behind the curtain curious, you explain it's all gone, they seem befuddled as well. Obviously the content behind the curtain has been moved but it can't be far right? Maybe it's just in the back. Either way, it feels like someone is hiding something from you. You notice a door leading to the back that's for employee's.

OH my god thank you so much!! lmao,i can't BELIEVE the amount of people who tell me they dont know what tlt is but enjoy my comics cuz like, i promise you other then the modern AU stuff i at least TRY to keep my goofs semi in character and a lot of my ideas are based on stuff that happen in the books so a lot of the jokes do need that bit of context, but im glad that they seem to be funnyish without it as well haha im happy to hear you liked my work enough to stick around!

and here is where i will put my formal apology to people who followed me for overwatch stuff only for me to hard flip into TLT and never look back, i could write a small book about my problems with OW and how much blizzard dropped the ball over and over again with it, i did TRY to keep making OW stuff and TLT stuff at the same time but maaan making overwatch fanart just feels like making content for a franchise that doesn't deserve my attention anymore, i do feel really lame having to say that cuz i do still love so much about it and brig is for sure still in my top 3 fictional crushes lol but GOD is it so hard trying to care about OW after all the shit that has happened to it last year alone, i still follow the news and play the game sometimes with my sister and i hope things improve but after them laying off all those talented artists i'm not holding my breath about it
