Oh oof I slipped and hit them with dark and serious beam. 😣
#connverse#Connie Maheswaran#Steven Quartz Universe#Steven Universe#This had been WIP for almost a year and has been edited a bit some days ago#I did not pick up on it now to see if I can edit further though. I'm just going to leave this at that#This was inspired by a dream I had about watching a post-apocalyptic(?) anime movie about two survivors going through their lives#Apologies if that one was yapped before in this blog. Trying to keep repeating statements already mentioned before is a habit I hope to avo#Anyway. It was almost a dialogue-less movie. actually not sure if the characters did say anything#The movie doesn't explain stuff to you. You just got dropped in a world and experience with the main characters for a few days#In the dream after watching that movie I went to Tumblr (naturally. Lol) and theories about it popped out#And there was a connverse cross-over fanart of it. Lmao#One of the main characters was EXTREMELY calm and stoic. And the connverse AU version of it was that's because Steven is in a comma and his#Pink mode activated as a defense mechanism against the creatures around while in such a state. So Pink Steven from Change Your Mind#And like. Oh? What if he's conscious? He's just watching his body have a mind of it's own and he can't control it? That's kinda terrifying#And of course like most of my dreams about shows I enjoy. I woke up before I could dream more about it. 😵#my shiz#skedoobles#SU#SU AU#also implied Pink Steven I guess#pink Steven#I rage-stopped drawing this because I know what needed to be fixing but the fixing I've been doing isn't fixing it. Lol#I'm specially frustrated with Connie's bangs and eyes. And like. Man. I'm just going to stop it right there before I make it worse.#It does make sense she has a bad haircut given the dream's setting. But it was not decided that was exactly what this drawing is about.#Also I'd imagine Steven to be having a full beard if that was the case.#Anyway enough yapping I have to get some sleep. Lol#Ohmygod just realizeddd. the in-dream movie sounded like I was describing 'Angel's Egg' jshsjajdbdjfbskkd Haven't seen that film in a while#My dream's movie had a Studio Ghibli artstyle and pretty colorful. But I would actually really like the somber vibes in Angel's Egg#for this AU though. 🤔🤩🤩

And one of these days we also have to talk about when zombie apocalypses were popular in nerdy culture and in many ways it was because it was a cool justifiable way for yanquis to fantasize on how to use their Cool 2nd Ammendment Self Defense Guns on endless human-like (but not quite human, see, they're zombies) targets

Toxic Masculinity 101 : Follow your heart and the justice you believe
"Nah, let's just say "Justice" to make them look like zealots, and remove the mention of their heart, otherwise, people might make links with the reason why Cassandra became Catherine, and we can't have people think too much about her because we already lolcalised her to be a zealot!"
I could cook something about "justice that you yourself believe" and "follow your heart" might have been something passed down since the days of Loog, if "Justice" was something Adrestians came up with and obviously, Loog'n'pals disagreed with it but I'm too lazy lol
Interestingly, the "follow your heart and justice you believe" might have been something said to encourage people to speak against their king (or act against them) if they felt he was being unfair or something, instead of being tied down by hierarchy and social orders (the King is always right because he is the King), and yet, given how that was warped during the Tragedy of Duscur, it's reminiscent of Adrestia : on paper, it was supposed to be great, but with time and people being asses, the original teachings and foundations the country was based on were completely ignored or, at worst, retooled to suit whoever wanted to be in charge's agenda.

post post apocalypse for the wip game ^-^
Hehe, this is one of my weirdest AUs rn because it's based off a dream! It takes place in a setting where the zombie apocalypse happened a while ago, a generation or two back, maybe, and the world has been rebuilt since then. There are still some zombies running around, but not hordes of them, and as long as you're a bit careful it's usually not that big of a deal. What is a problem is violence, and racing is a big part of the power struggles that happen.
Neil and Andrew are driving partners. They nominally hate each other, they're really mean to each other, but they also trust each other and work together extremely well when they get down to it.
On the night of Neil's senior prom (which he is not attending, instead he's off taking a joyride alone, which he doesn't get to do very often), two things happen: 1) he comes into the possession of an Extremely Valuable Corpse (the details of which I still need to figure out), and 2) as he's loading the Extremely Valuable Corpse into the trunk, someone leaves a note on the windshield.
"Hello, Junior."
His father knows where he is. He needs to leave, and he needs to leave now.

people always are like “why is planet popstar considered peaceful when it’s invaded other week” like we know anything of the universe outside of like, a few nearby planets. for all we know only having to deal with a terrifying entity every other week (and actually surviving) might be considered remarkably peaceful by the standards of everyone else

since ive already been pretty open about this and im not afraid to whack a hornets nest i'll go ahead and say it: if you were raising a kid in a pseudo-apocalyptic setting and then you found out that said kid was going to be the one to defeat the eldritch god that you have tried to defeat for half your lifetime and could never manage. that she was going to FACE that eldritch god it was prophesied. you would teach her how to defend herself and how to fight. like god i am not saying hero's trauma from it wasn't justified because i do think the twins took it too far but the initial process of training her makes so much more sense if you approach it at the angle of "this kid is going to do something we've been trying to do since we were twelve and couldn't manage and we might not even be there to help her so we have to make sure she doesn't die in the process" and not "we're going to make her fix our mistakes" it makes sense. goes along with lark's running theme of not being strong enough in the moments that matter and wanting to make sure nobody else ever feels as helpless as he did when walter was injured. goes along with sparrow desperately tempting fate with normal's name- not because normal was an accident, but because sparrow never wanted to lose even one kid to the doodler and it was a fervent, desperate wish to let normal get to be normal

Okay, so. I've got the bulk of this done now, I think, and the polls are going so that's the next bit I need to do once they're done. But... What would you say if on Christmas I posted like, 6 old fics I'm refurbishing for the Marble Hornets and Everyman HYBRID fandoms?
They're all gonna go up at the same time, all in a series called something like "Monni's Christmas present" and they're mostly all E rated ones (because this is me we're talking about). Most of them are around 10-20k ish words, though one is only like 1k and another is about 40k.
They're all older fics of mine that I wrote for another fandom that I'm no longer in, and having them up still was just making me feel weird and gross, but I still genuinely adore my writing in them, so I don't want to delete them, but having them on anon isn't enough, and orphaning them isn't something I wanna do either, so I thought I'd refurbish them, swap out all names and descriptions etc and reupload them for the EMH and MH fandoms. I'm currently getting them all ready in my ao3 drafts to make it easy to post them on Christmas. I've got three in there so far mostly fixed and ready to go up (More Time still needs one name and descriptions etc updated, that's the fic from the god of time poll, it is also the 40k word fic) and I'm gonna start on the next ones tomorrow

If you recognise the names from my old fandom somehow (very unlikely but still) uh, hi. Isn't it great that we're not there anymore given... Everything thats come out? 💀💀💀

today i have so many feelings abt albion in sunless skies, esp the parts around london+the brabazon workworld like. hyperindustrialism. in victorian london. in space. with capitalism being aided by both lovecraftian horror and scifi. it's peak steampunk horror in all the best and worst ways, where the horror isn't just horror, it's also overworking and dehumanisation of the working class and (especially) those outside of the class structure such as prisoners. are there also straight up monsters, eldrich gods and the inherent terror of vast empty spaces? of course! but terrors beyond your comprehension is on par with capitalistic greed - just as horrifying and, frankly, beautiful
all set to artwork and music that lures you to find it... uplifting, in a way

Imagine your kids run away from you when they're just wee innocent babs, but then they find you 40 years later still living in the same city as them, still alive, and they ask why you never tried to reconnect at all. And they look like Dark Souls mini bosses.
Like, nobody else is even dressed like this. They're just Like That.

A Distant Light
You find yourself lost in a harsh environment, on the verge of collapse. Your supplies are dwindling and nearly gone. You may be grievously injured, or ill, you may even be showing signs of madness. But just as you find yourself losing all hope, you see something on the horizon -
A lighthouse.
A Distant Light is an attempt at a choose-your-own adventure/solo journalling RPG, using tarot cards to determine your progression.
Yeah so in true ADHD-hell fashion I have been seized by the need to dive into creating something I've barely ever worked with or understand (ok actually no I've been wanting to create a tarot deck story generator for nigh on 15 years) so uhhhh.
IDK what this will become, all of the above was thought up during work yesterday & scribbled down at midnight before I passed out, but I'm vibing with it enough to put it here as An Official Project Of Sorts!
Right now all that's really going to amount to is occasional [sustained screaming] and probably a bunch of aesthetic posts, but who knows what will come of it. I don't even know how involved it will become - so far I've been able to map out how to work the beginning chunk easily enough, but the sort of... daydream-y 'wouldn't that be cool' idea right now is to have something that could facilitate going down... probably three? Four? distinct paths, which could further branch out depending on draws & an individual's motivation; but the beginning chunk alone already has some nice potential in generating shorter stories...
[The broad paths in mind are like - maybe the lighthouse is the entry point for some grand lost underground city/civilization? Maybe the player establishes connection with someone further away & has to choose to stay or go? Maybe the lighthouse already has someone around, and you find yourself settling into an apprenticeship? To say nothing of if the draws say you're like - a fugutive on the run (Actually what's shaped up for my first little play test!), or on some huge quest lmao-]
Anyway.
-loud shrug- It's holding my interest for the moment and gives me an excuse to fiddle with my cards.
Also yes the working title is absolutely stolen from a Blaqk Audio song, like, y'all know me.
