the fact that ChromeOS Guys™ exist should be unsurprising but it's still so fucked up. what do you mean 'vt2 gives you all the capability of linux' 'desktop linux is so unstable and bad and sucks so much & Google made it into a functional OS' 'REAL DEVS don't need powerful laptops and are dependent on cloud services' ??????? how are you real.
#on theme#mhwd#linuxposting#vt2 + chromebrew is not!! identical to a real linux system. also it's a chromebook lmao you have to jailbreak it to change bios settings#'instability' debian powers the internet lol#and of course#i support not getting a powerful laptop if you dont need it but being dependent on cloud services is 🚫🚫👎👎👎👎#buy some old used thinkpad like a real linuxhead

discord should rlly hire somebody, anybody; just a single person that knows half a thing about ux
#seriously wtf is going on there#the new desktop ui changes are just confusing#newer electron is cool tho ig#since screen sharing now just works on linux wayland#a few ui elements can now be resized in ways previously not possible. wahoo#but like#new batch of stupid useless-at-best; actively-bad-at-worst rounded corners everywhere#new dark themes are cool#server icons now being square is confusing (literally why; circles were fine)#server icons now being t r i a n g u l a r when you collapse a folder is stupid and annoying to look at#and why is there a pulsing blue glow on empty voice channels now#like deadass; discord managed to make a g r a d i e n t too contrast-y#how

i'm ricing* my linux distro atm
*ricing as in currently just changing themes and icons to make a miku aesthetic but then getting extra adventurous and discovering that a hiding taskbar on the top of the screen is übercool. baby steps, i only switched in july after all :,)
it's very fun, but i'm not too sure where to go after i finish customising my shortcuts. i could look around for some cool widgets, or make them myself. we'll see
at some point i intend to upgrade my laptop's specs if i can, add about 16GB of RAM and a new graphics card, cpu and MAYBE a new (external) hard drive i'm not 100% sure yet. i'm a game dev student who will inevitably need an upgrade, so i hope i can get it soon, i might be mistaken but it might be cheaper than upgrading and i won't lose my hard work
idk if my lenovo ideapad 1i is even customisable, it has screws on the back so at least they had the decency to help me get my hopes up
i just wanna be able to play games with my friends and make shit in blender :,)
anyways here's how my desktop looks and i'm very happy with it!!
the wallpaper and icons are all from pjsk, the folders are from a kuromi pack i edited slightly
my distro is linux mint running on aforementioned lenovo ideapad 1i
#medoh squawks#linuxposting#linux mint#linux#linux ricing#i also have to change my neofetch ascii art from kangel to miku#i might do a kangel theme someday since i have needy streamer overload

if you're making an indie game with no qa dept., literally just compile your game for Linux. unity has a whole ass button for this exact purpose. it takes approximately 0 seconds of labor to significantly reduce the number of times the average player of you game has to sign into their Microsoft account (morally good)
#Linux is not MacOS! you don't have to have a Linux computer lying around to compile your game for it#and no#wine doesn't instantly fix everything#on theme#linuxposting#also you can just make a Linux installation. it's not hard

Trying to install and configure a consistent desktop theme across gtk2, gtk3/4, and qt4/5/6 is such a pain in the ass I'm almost tempted to just throw out my whole OS install and start from scratch.
Almost.
#my thoughts#linux#ive decided to drop my whole “pick a random background and retheme every application dynamically” stack#because oomox-xresources was starting to break down in annoying ways#and it had too many problems#so i have moved to the bluebird theme#after initially considering crux#which i preferred but found had no gtk3 support#oh well...

I had a dream where I installed Debian (as opposed to Linux Mint, which is the distribution I currently use) and somehow messed up the installation in a really weird way.
Somehow, parts of my computer got desynchronized from each other. There were parts of my PC that were Windows. Other parts were Mint. The latest Terraria update was 1.4.4.0 (as opposed to 1.4.4.9) but my Minecraft installation was in the future, when the "Winter Drop" came out. Firefox was already in December. Google Chrome reinstalled itself, and it was some time in 2020. Whenever I downloaded a file, I would frequently get two files, each from different points in the past and/or future.
Somehow, I became desynchronized too. Parts of my personality separated from each other and became spread out through time. My body desynchronized, too. At the end of my dream, I got into a major car accident. My hands and feet were immediately affected by the impact. Next was my torso. Then, after that, there were my arms, then my legs. Finally, after a whole 24 hours, my head was affected by the crash.
#dreams#Completely unrelated thought that I don't know why I have considering the fact i have never read them and i don't follow the series really:#somehow this feels like one of those weird fnaf scary short story book things. there has to be a novelty fnaf themed linux distribution#pretend I'm in middle school and that i installed that instead of debian and you've got one of those books i think
