I was looking over the stardew valley wiki's page about the jojamart store and I noticed in the trivia it says there's no music in there, which I'd noticed before but didn't think much of
and although I can see the thematic reasons for the lack of sound, it's kind of funny because supermarkets are always playing the most obnoxious music or some song you've heard 100 times 10 years ago which has now faded from popularity. A completely silent store would actually be quite a relief
#stardew valley#I assume the reason for no sound is:#the game's music is a key part of the experience#it shows the passage of seasons#the movement from one location to another#it's meant to sort of simulate the connection with nature since you can't actual feel things like the breeze or smell the flowers blooming#but Jojamart is completely separate from the natural world#entirely artificial (e.g. if you check the shelves the products are full of synthetic stuff etc but also the artificial lighting)#so the place is essentially heartless and there's no connection between player and environment#because jojamart is like a non-environment#even the other building interiors have character#but jojamart is just there to sell things#hence the lack of music#it's a bit too sinister for my liking: I would prefer some tacky sounding annoying music#to make the experience more authentic

Honor Blackman guest stars as art expert Syd Lewis in Saber of London: Deep in the Heart of Chelsea (1.3, NBC, 1957)
#fave spotting#honor blackman#cathy gale#saber of london#the vise#the avengers#classic tv#deep in the heart of chelsea#1957#nbc#so im visiting parents for a week or two and taking the opportunity to catch up on my old tv watching as i have access to my beloved#dvd collection. Saber was one of the final network releases I've located (afterâ i might sayâ a long long search for a reasonably priced#copy). so. the story of Saber of London. (deep breath). SoL is really a development of The Vise; for more on the needlessly complex history#of that series you can follow the appropriate tag above. in short The Vise was a crime anthology made specifically for US tv but produced#in the UK using brit actors writers and directors. the recurring character of Mark Saber was popular enough that the show eventually became#The Vise: Mark Saber; it then became Saber of London. some sources still regard this show as essentially being a later series of The Vise#(and it does still use the og theme tune over the end credits) but considering the title change and (crucially) the fact that SoL saw the#series move from ABC to NBCâ im gonna consider this its own self contained show and number the episodes accordingly (ie. this is series 1 o#Saber of London not series 5 or 7 (depending on your counting) of The Vise). anyway now that's all out of the way.#there's little material difference between this series and the slightly earlier The Vise: Mark Saber episodes besides new titles and a#different introductory spiel from star Donald Gray. our hero is still a plucky private detective undertaking modest cases that the show's#budget will allow. this ep concerns art forgeries and an attempt to trap the criminals responsibleâ which means Saber must call on an art#expert to help authenticate the works. enter Honor! not yet a starâ Honor did have a decade of acting experience behind her#which is maybe reflected in the fact that she's given an unusually meaty part for a woman in this series: she's neither victim nor love#interest (which are the usual roles) but a witty and intelligent source of assistance to the hero.#unlike The Vise episodes (which could take up to a decade to appear in the uk if they did at all) SoL appears to have had a fairly regular#slot from Granada about two years after the show's US premier. this ep would have been seen by uk audiences in 1959

actually one of us is lying being filmed in new zealand actually makes a shit tonne of sense because it's a common thing wherein when tv shows and movies "fake" a setting they understandably try and show as little of the setting as possible (makes sense) and tbh i realised we didnt really see a lot of the town of bayview.
still find it absolutely hilarious that there was an australian pretending to be an american accused of killing an irishman pretending to be american in new zealand pretending to be america. its actually so weird when you think of media that way. the australian played a very good american bad boy but once i knew, yeah that man knows what triple j is.
#also the setting of the pilot felt instinctively more north american than the rest of series one#the pilot was filmed in canada btw#i actually mentioned this in my authenticity problem essay#honestly looking back i can see why i probs didnt get as good of a mark as i had hoped there#because honestly the issues i discuss in that essay are not limited to history. it was a film studies essay#but back to the point of my point of my point#there are these things called authenticity effects which cue an audience into seeing a setting as authenti ceven if its not filmed there#for instance in my essay and the netherlands i basically went okay the iconography of amsterdam like bikes and canal streets helped#(i still think they could have done a better job with language lol)#basically a non dutch viewer (broad audience) would not have to suspend their disbelief but a dutch viewer absolutely would#because the non dutch viewer would go. canals. bikes. yeah this is dutch#i say non dutch viewer but i was absolutely the outlier here#in the case of one of us is lying the typical american high school iconopgraphy of the bleechers helped me go âthis is americaâ#those typically american things werent really there in later episodes#and then what cued me to look at the filming location was the street scene when they confront the teacher#i realised that was one of the first times i actually saw a street scene with houses and suburbia and something felt off#i also remember a show called nine perfect strangers and i couldnt watch it bc it was filmed in australia but they passed it off as america#suspension of disbelief... gone#anyways idk what this post is so yippie

sorry to be a dick but what an annoying thing to say

#a real living location will never fit neatly into any genre or categorised concept#what are you gonna do? move there and drive up rent prices and then leave when it doesnât fit your ideal?#or god forbid your âaestheticâ anymore?#so many people in the gothic tags feel like hollow shells trying desperately to fill themselves with something anything & itâs just sad#actually no thatâs unfair. feels like everyone in any aesthetic tag + is also projection because that was me as a teenager on here#no authenticity besides the authentic drive for something fundamentally inauthentic. an escape#log

Iâm from west coast best coast as well AND Iâm going to NYC this year so please if you could offer any tips once you get there â¤ď¸
okay hello i wanted to wait until i got back!!! ummm i went with my family so i didnt get a ton of time to do my own thing and we literally stayed in manhattan the entire time lol. so not the most all encompassing experience. i've also been a few times before when i was younger so you might want to see major landmarks etc. like, it depends on what you want..... you can have many different kinds of experience....
see shows see as many shows as possible this is your only time to see shows just do it. it's horridly expensive absolutely. no getting around that unfortunately. merrily we roll along extended to july i think?? see it if you can, For Me
buy tickets on the theatre site not through any third party stuff
i alternated between subway taxi and walking depending on distance and how tired i was. subway is pretty easy to figure out as a tourist but of course it's not as lovely as my beautiful SkyTrain
art galleries: the met is first priority if you like them, it's friggin huge so block out a few hours. and definitely the moma as well. dont bother with the guggenheim unless they have a really good exhibition on
did you know that the main building of the new york public library is not actually like, a library where they have books on the shelves you can read. Fascinating. Dont make my mistake with this
central park :) it's nice. it has the doctor who bridge....
Everything is So Expensive
new york bagels are not functionally different from our bagels. dont believe their lies. but get a bagel, go to an expensive horrible diner for breakfast, get pizza, get a hot dog, get a really stale pretzel, have a bad time muscling through times square, acquire cheesecake, these are foundational new york tourist experiences
everyones nice to be honest. like strangers will talk to you and stuff... it doesnt gel with my west coastie sensibilities so prepare yourself to go with that flow....
ummmmmmm i actually dont have any additional insights here. have fun though!! lets go mets love da mets
#if it's your first time then yeah stay in manhattan...... there's absolutely enough to do there#idk we were like a block away from 30 rock it was a good central location#if you want authentic advice. Please inquire with a real new yorker and not me (functionally an idiot)#also dont go to new york with your grandmother. trust

Me, a few weeks ago, talking to @historian-crown my ever wonderful European beta reader: "I don't say where everybody specifically lives, but I do have a mental map in my head. Which means Secundo would probably have this regional accent." *Sends TikTok video example*
Crown: "No, that's ridiculous you can't tell me that--"
Me: "Oh yeah and Marian would have THIS regional accent, this is how she could sound!" *Sends another one*
Crown: "No, that's horrible you can't even understand half the words, what?!!"
Not to worry, Ghesties, Terzo is still Italian
#the American Satellite location of the Ministry is in New England#meaning there is probably a dunkin nearby#im being so brave and authentic here#stupid AU worldbuilding#im going to high five through the internet anyone who figured out where Marian is originally from#i have confirmed that Nihil is from Wisconsin#Nihil actually has a Swedish surname

The Modern CEO: Does Having a Tattoo Matter?
In the contemporary business world, the image of a CEO has evolved significantly. Gone are the days when a suit and tie were the non-negotiable uniform of corporate leaders. Today, CEOs are as likely to be seen in jeans and a t-shirt as they are in traditional business attire. This shift in sartorial norms is emblematic of a broader cultural change, where individuality and authenticity are increasingly valued. One aspect of this transformation is the acceptance of tattoos in the professional realm. However, the question remains: does having a tattoo matter for a modern CEO?
The Changing Perception of Tattoos
Historically, tattoos were often associated with counterculture movements, rebellion, or specific subcultures. In the corporate world, visible tattoos were frequently frowned upon, seen as unprofessional or indicative of a lack of seriousness. However, this perception has been shifting rapidly over the past couple of decades.
A growing number of professionals, including those in leadership positions, have tattoos. This change is partly due to a generational shift, with millennials and Gen Z being more open to body art than their predecessors. These generations value authenticity and self-expression, and tattoos are often seen as a reflection of these values.
In industries such as technology, media, and entertainment, tattoos are often embraced as a form of personal expression. CEOs and executives in these fields may have tattoos that are visible during meetings or public appearances, and this is increasingly acceptedâor even celebratedâas part of their personal brand.
The Impact of Tattoos on Professional Image
While tattoos have become more accepted, the impact of a tattoo on a CEO's professional image can still vary depending on the industry, company culture, and geographical location. In more conservative industries, such as finance or law, visible tattoos may still raise eyebrows or be viewed as unprofessional. In contrast, in creative or tech industries, tattoos may be seen as a symbol of creativity or individuality.
For a CEO, the decision to display tattoos can be a strategic one. Some may choose to keep their tattoos hidden during formal business engagements or when dealing with stakeholders who may hold more traditional views. Others may embrace their tattoos as part of their leadership style, using them as a conversation starter or a way to connect with a diverse workforce.
Tattoos and Leadership Style
The presence of tattoos can also influence perceptions of a CEO's leadership style. A tattooed CEO may be perceived as more approachable, relatable, and open-minded. In some cases, tattoos can break down barriers, making leaders seem more accessible to employees and clients alike.
On the flip side, a tattooed CEO may face skepticism about their professionalism or decision-making abilities, particularly from older generations or in more traditional sectors. However, as more leaders with tattoos demonstrate their competence and success, these stereotypes are likely to diminish further.
Tattoo Removal: A Consideration for CEOs
Despite the growing acceptance of tattoos, some CEOs may choose to remove them for various reasons. The decision to remove a tattoo might stem from a change in personal taste, a desire to align with a more conservative corporate culture, or the need to appeal to a broader audience.
The process of tattoo removal has become more accessible and effective in recent years, thanks to advancements in laser technology. For instance, Bay Area, CA laser tattoo removal services are readily available, offering CEOs and other professionals the option to alter their appearance as they see fit. This flexibility allows leaders to adapt their personal brand to suit their evolving career goals or industry expectations.
The Role of Company Culture
Company culture plays a significant role in determining whether a CEO's tattoos are seen as an asset or a liability. In organizations that value diversity, creativity, and innovation, tattoos are more likely to be embraced as a form of personal expression. Conversely, in companies with more traditional or conservative cultures, tattoos may still be viewed with skepticism.
A CEO's decision to display or hide their tattoos can also influence company culture. By being open about their tattoos, a CEO may signal to employees that the company values individuality and authenticity. This can foster an inclusive environment where employees feel comfortable being themselves, which can, in turn, enhance productivity and job satisfaction.
Conclusion: Does Having a Tattoo Matter?
In the end, whether having a tattoo matters for a modern CEO depends on a variety of factors, including industry, company culture, and personal branding. As societal norms continue to evolve, tattoos are becoming increasingly accepted in professional settings, even at the highest levels of leadership.
For some CEOs, tattoos are an integral part of their identity, representing personal stories, values, or creative expression. For others, tattoos may be seen as a potential barrier to success in certain industries or situations. Ultimately, the decision to display or remove tattoos is a personal one, influenced by both individual preferences and professional considerations.
As the business world continues to embrace diversity and authenticity, the presence of tattoos on a CEO is likely to become a non-issue for most companies. In this evolving landscape, the focus is shifting towards the skills, vision, and leadership qualities that a CEO brings to the table, rather than their physical appearance. This change reflects a broader trend towards inclusivity and acceptance, paving the way for a more diverse range of leaders in the future.

IMO, one of the biggest reasons why Watcher the youtube channel has had a steady decline in viewership and channel growth is because the shows they shoot now are too overproduced.
YouTube prioritizes frequent (mid to long form) uploads. Thats something they can't sustain with their current model and going (nearly as of rn) all in on a model that will shrink your viewer base is nuts. I don't understand why their focus prior to making a whole streaming service (or even better, pitching themselves to an established one), they didn't build on their merch sails, collaborations, and building a stronger audience connection to someone that isn't just shane or ryan (or even steven).
I can't think of why they'd risk doing this unless they felt like they were in some sort of sink or swim moment that called for big change. And Like, in concept, I don't blame them. They haven't made it easy for themselves. I do hope they can find future success on another streaming platform, but once they fix these fundamental issues.
"Omg y'all are babies who don't realize that they need to make money and just feel entitled to free art!"
First of all I think most Watcher fans will agree that nobody asked for "TV quality" content. In fact I personally find most of their new shows to be extremely overproduced compared to their Buzzfeed era videos, which were backed by an actual big company. So them blowing their budget on new staff and fancy sets is something few people asked for.
"But this is their art and their company and they're allowed to make it however they want, they can't just constantly make their old stuff to retain an audience!"
I mean, yeah, if this is what they want to keep making, more power to them! But people are not obligated to 1) enjoy it and 2) pay for it. Audiences will fluctuate. Look at the Try Guys and how much their stuff has changed while still being successful. So maybe they'll get a new audience that is willing to pay for the stuff they want to make. But it's perfectly understandable for a large portion of their old fans to leave. Cuz yeah. If you wanna say "um this is capitalism sweaty" then yeah, I'll agree with you. This is capitalism. And I have better things to spend money on. I am not entitled to their art, and they are not entitled to my money. If they stop making stuff I like and have access to, I will stop watching. Taste closed.
#watcher#long post oops#i havent watch them for several months bc even ghost files felt boring lately#its hard to keep a 'authentic' ghost show interesting when u dont capture anything to justify belief in ghosts#i wonder if they end up losing extra money bc they go to alt locations that also produce little content#i really enjoy puppet history tho...im sad its going to be behind a paywall now

DP x DC prompt [15]
Danny accepts that because of his half dead status he won't be able to become an astronaut and he has to find a different way to feed his space obsession.
He decides to get really into astromancy (yes, the magic. He already knows everything about astronomy). He gets himself the more spiritual star charts, old surprisingly authentic tomes about the art and divination cards to go with it all and gets to learning.
Tbh he kind of went into this not expecting much but it turns out he had homo magus heritage from his Nightingale roots and he actually manages to call upon the power of the stars.
He figures he can blame the vaporized wall on ghosts.
Meanwhile, a foreboding feeling like cold shivers run down the spines of several magic users that they can only describe as "a child having figured out they need to switch off the safety on their mini nuke launcher in order to fire it"
The JLD is scrambling to locate the source of the surge in magic power before someone with bad intentions can get there.
