Description

The Princess of Orange receives Alexander II, Grand Duke and heir to the throne of Russia, in the Tsar Peter House in Zaandam, 17 April 1839. The princess presents the Grand Duke with a tray containing bread (in the shape of a turban) and salt in a salt cellar, a well-known Russian welcoming ritual.
