Chapter 1's changes weren't too intense, mostly because the chapter is short + most of the changes in this chapter are an extension of the changes in the prologue. The new scene is quite lengthy though, so I hope that's enjoyable ! :) See you then.

Billy did not oversleep. In fact, he's been getting little to no sleep. Billy has been working on an old case on missing people and his team decided to put the case back in the archives. There wasn't enough evidence to solve it and he should be working on other stuff. Luckily he had the rest of the day off, so he quickly went to pick up Renee.

Yep that was Charlie in the background and he's showing off his new haircut to Renee, he's a bit self-absorbed 😂 but he's happy to see her again and is excited to show the spice festival that's in town!

😭😭😭 queenieeeeeeeee, this is so kind!!! trust me, i am ALSO thinking very hard re: true love waits in haunted houses...at least whenever work isn't throwing me into a total clusterfuck scenario, lmao

I WOULD SAY...a lot of the behind-the-scenes thinking or tidbits i'm most proud of are difficult to talk about without getting into ~spoiler~ territory, LOL. but something unique that i did for this fic specifically was draw up a complete outline -- like, literally draw it, by hand:

my ass sat down in the park for three hours scribbling in a notebook, something i have done neither before nor since, LMFAO. i ended up transferring most of this content into the google doc where i do all my writing (spread out across...many, many subtabs), but this is where it all began :^) i think even from this page alone (the full outline runs to about...four and a half pages?) you can identify a couple of interesting points:

i did rework the title slightly, with apologies to radiohead

some imagery or ideas came immediately ("bedsheet walls like hospital bedspreads", the Bride's look and general vibe -- even if she didn't have that moniker from the beginning), some were a matter of sudden inspiration mid-hashing out the details (see "music! piano puzzle!" in the margins, lol), and some came to me literally halfway through writing a chapter (most notably the mannequins/"sculptures?" becoming anatomy models)

also, many of the things which are simple bullet points here (e.g. "Angela with the knife" or "finds the revolver") got fleshed out into whole scenes, which is part of why the chapter counts DEFINITELY do not match what i have in my outline, LMAO

and some things either didn't make the cut since they didn't flow well (the flower shop, Mary and Laura having a longer initial interaction in the apartments) or I just couldn't find an excuse to put it in (the Bible verse on the bathroom wall)...which isn't necessarily to say they won't show up in some fashion later 🤔

I was hoping it would be more than a recap... and it Was, technically. Anomi got access to sourcebox, but now its like... well wtf does this program do? and can that be answered along with all the other unanswered mysteries in the final episode?

because some endings that im envisioning on the horizon and do Not really want to happen are like

Anomidae answers very little and fills interloper F with more questions, then announces the next installment of project skybox where stuff from interloper will presumably be tied in.

Interloper's ending ends up involving more ARG elements, so its up to the community to fully solve it.

Interloper is solved, yet through a vague/abstract ending that doesn't make sense. so you gotta either try your hand at putting the puzzle pieces together yourself, or wait for a youtube theorist to analyze it.

idk... I just really hope F ties up the series in a satisfying way.

Sometimes i'm surprised that there's adults in the whump comunity, so, as one of the pillarse of whump art in this platform, how do you manage to keep posting so much content about torturing fictional characters while having an adult Life with adult things to do without someone you know IRL finding your Tumblr and thinking you're a serial killer? /pos

so one big help is that no one I know irl is aware of tumblr's existence (or if they are, they don't have accounts)

A decent chunk of people know I make gore art, and I've show some of them my pieces, but they're usually just like "hehe blood" and don't question it

I'm not overly worried about anyone finding my Tumblr, 'cause I'm not active enough on any other social media for people to go looking lol. If someone asks what I'm working on, I often just give a vague description of Riot Kings (because when am I not working on that?) and it's usually good enough to satisfy their curiosity. (I also have plenty of non-whump art to show folks who ask me what I'm drawing ahaha)
