Alexa and Liana

Okay people hear me out. Yes they had that fight *break up* scene and Alexa showed her jealousy towards the relationship between Liana and Melody. But she was an exhausted girl who followed her best friend on a quest while being scared and not really into it. She always teases her and tries her best to do what's right because she loves Liana. They fight like best friends do but Alexa evolved because she wanted to be a good friend and she is an amazing friend.

Longtae and Tian

He is literally the best person Tian meets in the PhuPanDao village! Like they are platonic soulmates that do all sorts of shenaningans together, Longtae helps Tian every chances he gets, he is supportive and lovely never judging or betraying him, also after getting to know Tians secret he never told anybody keeping it safe until Tian would have been ready(tho that was ruined by another person), and after he learnt the full story behind the secret he was the first to forgive Tian cuz he was mostly hurt because that secret affected all the village they were living, after that he put himself in mortal danger to help Tian with barely any esitation

Longtae is just the best boy and he deserve the world

They are just the best part of their show for me, I LOVED EVERY SINGLE SECOND THE 2 WERE ON SCREEN TOGETHER

I love both characters fiercely and I would do anything for them they are so dear to me, theur bond was so perfect, and it is so cute how it is reflected in the actors friendship as well

She was already a teen when he came into her life, she sang to him when he cried as a babe and held him when he cried as a young man, she tried her best to shield him from their father, and she should never have had to bury her baby brother so young."

Tian & Longtae: "They form a bond that is best described by the word brothers, Tian is out of place, a city boy living in the forest, while Longtae is a forest boy taking on the city. They hate shared experiences yet different and that is why their bond is so important. Torfun was the one who first inspired Longtae to go to university, it makes sense that Tian helps keep this dream alive"

So I’ve been watching a lot of series with Khaotung in them recently, and I just realized that I literally went from watching Only Friends (2023) to The Eclipse (2022) to A Tale of Thousand Stars (2021) to Tonhon Chonlatee (2020) … I’m watching Khaotung’s evolution but backwards … I’ve been watching him de-evolve…

The funniest thing is that his characters get more wholesome the further back I go

WELCOME TO PLANTONIC PALS PUNCHOUT!

If Saturday cartoons taught us anything it’s that The Power Of Friendship is the ultimate weapon that can defeat any obstacle! But can it defeat…other friendships!? 

This tournament will pit Dynamic Duo vs Dynamic Duo to see who has the Ultimate Friendship. They will do this by punching other pairs in the face winning polls! The competition will be single-bracket-style (because that’s the only kind I know how to do lol)

Rules: 

👉Characters must be (or once were) canonically friends, which means they’ve had on-screen/in-text buddy time together, or have mentioned their friendship explicitly. Characters who start as friends but lose their friendship are allowed! 👉No real people, real people playing themselves (DSMP, etc), or country-fictions (Hetalia, etc). I may accept pets or OCs IF they get multiple submissions from different people and there’s room left in the bracket (I feel bad when they lose :(  )  👉No Harry Potter or Attack on Titan. 👉Pairs only. As fun as groups are, I worry that having more characters on their team may sway the votes. Characters with DID or who otherwise have alternate identities count as a single character. 👉Canonically romantic pairs must have significant on-screen/in-text platonic time, and/or emphasis placed on buddy-hood over romance throughout the story.* (a good example is Phoenix Wright & Miles Edgeworth) This is semi-subjective & somewhat controversial, so I’ll be prioritizing purely platonic friendships. Friends With Benefits™️ are totally fine as long as they are actually friends.  👉Familial pairs are fine as long as their buddy-hood is emphasized throughout the story. (a good example is Goofy & Max) 

*Sometimes characters only get together late into the story, or use the Power of Friendship even after getting together, or their relationship is on the vague side, so these duos may be included ^^ Essentially, even if they get together romantically, you’re still submitting them as friends, and confirming that their relationship is portrayed as comfortably platonic more than romantic/pining. 

I don’t expect to get popular so I don’t currently have plans for an upper limit, but we need a minimum of 30 pairs to run! Feel free to submit multiple pairs! (Just do it in a new submission lol) I’ll also only be accepting 1 pair per series. More entries for the same pair mean they’re more likely to get in :3

As for me, my name is Murphy (he/him or she/her), I’m arospec, Autistic, and I’ve never run a tournament before. I can’t make polls on desktop for unknown reasons & barely know how to use mobile, so this blog might be a bit…scuffed, at first ^^; please be patient with me.

About the height difference thing, I thought Ray was deliberately given platform shoes because Ray as a character had a dominant vibe, especially in the music room kiss scene and the Halloween scene, where they needed Sand and Ray to be nearly the same height. I did not notice the height difference in TE because that was the first show I watched of them. But you are telling me that First exercising is the reason for their yaoi height difference? Wow. Now I need to check out their events or interviews where they are standing together during TE era or OF era to feed my heart

i've said it before but khaotung does this thing with his characters that depending on who he's playing, he just looks taller somehow. aye and ray, despite being vastly different, both appeared taller because they held themselves different. bison has the whole thing of looking petite and cute, but that's his killing tactic, that's how he lures his victims. chonlatee and longtae are both 3 cm tall.

(but ray totally used shoes with heels in only friends. that was his trademark along with his button shirts in my opinion)

(and their size difference in thk was definitely bc first worked out a lot. still is actually which makes me unwell bc he could be training for something else, but if what they said is true, and cat for cash starts filming after lol, chances are we'll get buff tiger. we will have buff tiger who love kitties and grumpy lynx. you have no idea how much that image makes me feel well and healthy).

THK is gonna be such a fun romp. Love that Jojo found a role to let Dunk's specific style of (bad porno) acting shine. Style is just so fun and dumb, exactly the type to get caught up in a taming of the shrew challenge. Joong, as the cynical Fadel, and First, playing the reformed criminal Kant, are actually giving top-notch fully-embodied performances (the diversity of smiling expressions First can manage is impressive and incredibly sexy) and seem to be in charge of managing the weight of the plot. Meanwhile, Khaotung's character blends the sexual prowess of Ray with all the innocent love-struck baby-boyness that he specialized in before flipping the script in Only Friends (Gaipa, Chonlatee, Longtae, etc.). The dynamics between the four are so primed for antics.

Does the show feel like a series of 90s music videos spliced together? Absolutely! And I want my MTV, goddammit!

I just realised….Khaotung’s next character in Cat For Cash will be the first role where he is actually in debt

So far…he has been playing wealthy young master (s) - Ray in Only Friends and Bison in The Heart Killers

Or comes from affluent/well-off family - Ayan in The Eclipse, Gaipa from MLC

Even Longtae (while not super rich, I assume because his father is the Chief of the village - he is somehow more respected?)

There must be something in Khaotung that makes directors go - well, he just gives off that vibe 🤓
