How done would our wallets be if they had Bang and Amane plushies?
look at one point I was desperate enough to look up merch for them and I think collectively there were about ten items and half of them were posters. Blazblue is already on the niche-er end expecting merch of anyone except the main girls and *maybe* Ragna is sort of like expecting it to rain ice cream
#were it not basically dead in the water I could maybe see arcsys trying to do makeship plushies since the ones for gg did okay#but even on the slim chance that happened it absolutely would not be them#suppose it doesn't help that they kinda have complicated designs#Amane at least#bang might be feasible if you simplify a lot of details#amane has all those widgets on his kimono and you'd have to find a way to do the scarf#man they'd make some cool figures though...#ask#blazblue

You hadn’t planned on doing this.
You really hadn’t.
But curiosity had a way of sinking its teeth into you and refusing to let go.
A few days after first seeing her on the sidelines, you were still wondering who the hell that girl actually was — the one who played like teamwork was just a solo act with extra background noise.
The only thing you really remembered about her was that she was huge, and that people called her “Anderson” like it was her first, last, and middle name all rolled into one.
Like she didn’t even have an actual identity under the grim, military-grade sound of it.
It bugged you a little.
Just enough to find yourself lying flat on the bed in your dorm room, cracked old phone balanced in your hands, thumbs moving across the search bar without a single rational thought guiding them.
You opened the Seattle Eagles’ Instagram page.
And there she was.
Linebacker: Abby Anderson.
The absurd irony of her full name hit you like a brick.
Abigail.
You actually laughed out loud, a sharp, startled noise, at how wrong it sounded.
No way someone built like a walking tank was named after, like, a Victorian poet.
You tapped her tagged account almost without thinking, a tiny, guilty thrill running down your spine.
And holy shit-miracle of miracles- her profile was public.
@abby_anderson8.
Simple. Name, name again, and the number you remembered from her jersey.
“Jesus Christ, I’m acting like a stalker,” you thought grimly.
Then immediately justified it -you weren’t doing anything weird, right?
Just… basic curiosity.
Totally normal.
Not psycho at all.
You scrolled down.
Her bio sat right at the top:
“Yearning for more.”
Three small words.
Underneath it, a Spotify playlist link- blue, tempting, but you didn’t click yet.
You shrugged to yourself, hovering, then scrolled deeper- like the bottom of her profile was some kind of black hole and your thumb was caught in its pull, circling closer with every swipe.
You squinted at the screen, drawn in.
Mostly black-and-white shots from games- lots of action shots where she was serious as hell, descriptions kept dry, minimal, sometimes just dates.
Or no captions at all, like the images were supposed to speak for themselves.
Nothing flashy.
Nothing try-hard.
It made you like her a little more, weirdly.
There was something… solid about her. Something that didn’t feel fake.
A few photos with her family. A messy living room Christmas shot.
One with a giant, dopey- pitbull mix, grinning so wide it looked human.
You caught yourself smiling at it- actually smiling- before you panicked and slammed your phone facedown into the mattress.
Yeah.
Enough.
You were dangerously close to spiraling into Dexter levels of weirdness.
You flopped onto your back, staring at the ceiling for a second, chest feeling weirdly tight.
Finally, you stretched an arm toward your creaky desk, pulling your battered laptop off the shelf.
After punching in your password, the desktop loaded- a cluttered mess of folders, widgets, Spotify playlists, half-finished essays, and a wallpaper full of cartoon dogs all wearing dumb little sweaters.
You clicked open your history essay draft.
“Save draft blinked cheerily at the top of the empty screen.
At the bottom?
“0 words.”
You sighed- deep and miserable- and cracked your knuckles, ready to type literally anything, even “I have no thoughts head empty,” just to fill the void.
And then you heard it.
A bang.
Loud.
Sharp.
Somewhere out in the hallway.
You froze mid-breath.
Another noise, closer- a thudding, panicked stampede of feet, the rising screech of voices tripping over each other in terror.
Your whole body locked up.
Instinct made you edge toward the door, heart hammering against your ribs.
But before you even touched the handle- another bang, unmistakable this time.
A shot.
A fucking gunshot.
“Shit. Shit. Shit,” you muttered under your breath, stumbling back.
The PA system above your door crackled to life, voice mechanical and garbled:
“ACTIVE THREAT. SHELTER IN PLACE.”
Right.
Sure.
Like staying put was even an option.
Your body was already moving before your brain caught up.
You yanked open the door and bolted into the chaos.
The hallway was a nightmare- students flooding every direction like a panicked school of fish, faces white with terror, backpacks thudding against walls, shoes squeaking on linoleum.
Chaos.
Panic.
You didn’t even think- you just ran.
The first closet you saw, you threw yourself at it, ripped it open with shaking hands, and slipped inside.
You twisted the lock so fast you almost tore the handle off.
Instantly, the heavy chemical smell hit you.
Disinfectant. Mildew. Bleach so strong it made your eyes water.
You gagged, stumbling back and pressing yourself into the corner, knees pulled tight to your chest, the mop bucket digging coldly into your side.
Your first instinct- was to text your family.
You pulled out your phone, fingers fumbling so badly you almost dropped it:
“Love you. Don’t worry. Hope it’s just a drill.”
It looked weak.
Pathetic.
But you sent it anyway, heart breaking a little as you did.
You looked up, trying to ground yourself- trying to listen/ trying to think.
And then your foot caught on something.
Or someone.
You crashed down hard, swearing as your elbow cracked against a metal shelf.
You lifted your head, blinking through the tears in your eyes.
And there she was.
Abby Anderson.
She was half-sitting, half-squatting under a shelf of industrial paper towels, one earbud still dangling from her ear, staring at you with wide, unbothered blue eyes.
Her blond hair was braided tight against her scalp today, shirt sleeves tugged over her arms.
Black Seattle Eagles shirt. Gray sweats. Beat-up red Nike backpack tossed beside her.
She looked… infuriatingly calm.
Not detached- not oblivious- just steady, like even now she was weighing things, making plans you could never hear.
You slid down the opposite wall, hands trembling so hard you almost dropped your phone.
Your fists clenched until you felt your nails cutting into your skin, trying to feel anything but the blind panic clawing up your throat.
“You good?”
Her voice was low, rough around the edges- like gravel- but steady.
You lifted your head slowly, the smallest glare forming in your bloodshot eyes.
“Define good,” you rasped out, voice cracked and dry.
Abby gave a half-smirk, leaned back lazily against the mop buckets like they were lounge chairs.
A casual confidence radiated off her, almost infuriating.
“Breathing’s a start,” she said dryly. “Gonna keep you calm.”
You stared at her for a second, wild and disbelieving.
Calm.
Sure.
You were two seconds away from dying of a cardiac arrest, but yeah, breathing was a fucking start.
Maybe if she Amazon Prime’d you some of that calm, then you’d be in business.
Outside, the muffled chaos continued- the shouts, the thuds, the distant wail of sirens.
Every time a noise sharpened, you flinched so hard the shelves rattled.
You needed- desperately-a distraction.
“So,” you said, voice cracking like dry wood, “nice real estate you picked.”
Abby actually laughed.
Not a chuckle- a full, low laugh, rough and real, the kind that dug its way under your skin and stayed there.
“Best spot on campus,” she said, straight-faced.
You swiped your sweaty palms across your jeans and, for a moment, the fear eased.
It wasn’t gone- not by a long shot- but it dulled just enough to breathe again.
“Never got your name,” she said after a while, blue eyes flicking over your face, casual but intent, like she was committing it to memory.
You told her, voice low.
She nodded once, slow.
“Abby,” she said simply.
You barely stopped yourself from blurting out “Yeah, I know,” like you weren’t checking her instagram page half a second ago.
She seemed to sense the awkwardness and steamrolled right through it.
“So…uhh” Abby said, stretching her legs out like this was a weird social experiment.
“What do you like to do? You know- when you’re not almost dying in broom closets?”
It was so stupidly normal you barked a laugh- half-hysterical, but real.
And somehow- you started telling her.
About sketching during lectures.
About your dog back home.
About the time you thought you could ride a bike no-hands and ate shit so hard you still had a scar on your chin.
Abby told you about the welding accident- the shop-class scale she broke in high school trying to measure her own weight- how the teacher never let her live it down.
You laughed.
She laughed.
It was easy.
Too easy.
At one point, Abby balanced a bottle of Windex on her knee like a circus act and said, grinning lazily,
“Bet you cry easy too.”
Without hesitation, you flipped her off.
She cracked up-loud and rough, throwing her head back against the shelf.
And for the first time all day, the world didn’t feel like it was ending.
“DRILL OVER. STUDENTS MAY GO BACK TO THEIR DORMS."
Reality hit you both at once.
You pushed up first, legs shaking like you ran a marathon.
Abby grunted as she stood, brushing off her sweats.
You were reaching for the door when you felt her tap your arm.
“Hey,” she said, casual as anything.
“Give me your number.”
You blinked, caught off guard.
“What for?”
“In case there’s another lockdown drill,” she said with a straight face. “Y’know. So we can freak out together.”
You huffed out a breath- not quite a laugh- and fished out your battered iPhone.
She took one look at it and recoiled dramatically.
“Jesus,” she muttered, snatching it from you carefully, like it might explode.
“This thing’s a fucking fossil.”
You straightened your spine, mock-offended.
“I’m sentimentally attached.”
Abby didn’t miss a beat.
She smirked wickedly and fired back:
“You’re sentimentally insane.”
You snorted, half-embarrassed, half-grinning, as she entered her number and handed it back with exaggerated care.
“There,” she said. “Try not to send me a smoke signal when you text.”
“Don’t tempt me,” you muttered, tucking it into your pocket.
You both stepped out into the bruised afternoon light.
You turned to her one last time, the words catching somewhere in your throat.
Abby caught your glance, raised an eyebrow, smirk tugging at her mouth.
“What?” she teased. “Checking out the biceps?”
You barked a laugh.“Please. I was mentally filing a restraining order.”
Abby threw her head back and laughed -loud and rough and real -and slung her red backpack over one shoulder.
With a lazy two-fingered salute, she turned and disappeared into the crowd.
You stood there a second longer, phone heavy in your pocket, heart weirdly lighter than it had been in a long, long time.
Somewhere deep down, something in you had shifted.
And you had a strange, stupid feeling it wasn’t done shifting yet.

my thought process that went into these designs:
Phoenix - took a lot of inspiration from his scrapped concept art with the facial hair and sweater vest. Took away the gold chain but gave him gold buttons on his sleeves as a compromise. I think he’d wear pointed toed shoes. Decided I’d give everyone patterns, and settled on houndstooth for Phoenix.
Edgeworth - Mostly unchanged from his latest design. I like the scrapped design of his hair with the side part, but added fringe his bangs can still be an ‘M’ lol. his vest is blue to represent how Phoenix has been an influence on him 🤭
Klavier - he was tricky! I wanted him to feel more mature, less rockstar, but not boring. Took away the Gavinners logo. Made him more buttoned up but the shirt is SHEER. Bell bottoms felt so right on him. I think there’d be a running gag in-game where he never puts the jacket on, and Apollo and Athena always joke to each other about it. I’m imagining a sprite animation where he’s like 🥺 and has it draped over his head. His nail polish is colorpicked from someone else’s tie 👀
Apollo - Kept him mostly the same. His face is a little more angled. Added a third piece of fringe that hangs down (influence from Phoenix) and made his hair slightlyyyy longer. Gave him subtle pinstripes and changed his shirt cuff. He has gold hoop earrings now to parallel the bracelet. That + the gold wallet chain gave him a bit of influence from Klavier.
Athena - Took inspiration from 80s/90s womens businesswear. BIG shoulderpads and a bolo tie Widget. She’s sporty and active so I thought shorts would fit her better than trousers. Since she’s no longer wearing tights, I moved the black in her color palette to her shirt. Gave her headphones.
Trucy - wanted to REALLY freshen up her design but still stay true to the Gramarye costume. I took inspiration from ringleaders and gave her epaulettes, but kept the jacket sleeveless because it felt more true to her. Cropped her hair! She has Thalassa’s other bangle now. Minidress is simpler now, but has pinstripes. Put her brooches back into the design on her boots.
Gumshoe - he’s a papa :3 his kids are named Callum and Beau. His animations with a baby carrier would be so funny. Blue badger fanny pack and socks cause I wanted to give him disney dad vibes, and I could see the bag used as evidence in a trial. Little doggy bag keychain because he’s retired from detective work and is now running a dog walking service. He was on vacation and had to get called in as a witness.
Maya - she’s hasn’t left her duties, but she’s on vacation! She’s fully embraced the tourist aesthetic. Steel Samurai keychain on her bag. She’s the OG sillygirl and I needed to preserve her whimsy, her 30s be damned. She would wear bootcut jeans and I know this in my soul.
Pearl - I….. certainly made some choices here HFHSJDJSJD She’s fully embraced gyaru fashion. Maybe every subsequent game she’s switched to another niche fashion trend..? Since I made such a bold departure I kept her in modified Kurain clothing. She got arrested :/ Her hair and makeup would get so fucked up and one of her nails would be missing. Apollo defends her.
I spent so much time making these and had a lot of fun!! :D
wanted to try a lineup of possible aa7 designs after another timeskip! I didn't get to it, but I want the new judge to be the old one's granddaughter.

today in the Andromeda Galaxy, *screaming*
so like listen. I had this whole PLAN for this post, about how the Brandeis motto is taken from Psalms 51, “truth, even unto its innermost parts,” and how my Ryder reflects that. I had a lot of last little errands I wanted to run before starting the endgame of the next big phase of main plot, and over and over again-- telling Maariko the angara astronomer that it was exiles who destroyed his stuff and hurt people, even though it turned him against humans as a whole; siding with Sid over Addison that we should go public with the fact that the Nexus was backing the Three Sabers even though it makes us look sus as hell; convincing the angara historian on Voeld that he shouldn’t whitewash the fact that the angara cooperated with the kett during early first contact-- I stubbornly insisted that what’s TRUE matters a heck of a lot more than what’s “convenient” or “inspiring.” I told the same to Keri, later on.
but then like. WOW DID A BUNCH HAPPEN, the latest of which REALLY DOESN’T FIT WITH THAT WHOLE THEME.
so we went to Khi Tasira, and I brought Jaal and Peebee with me because of course I did. (in my defense, Big Kett Offense + Giant Remnant Place = perfectly good reasons to have them as my party, but lbr I probably would have taken them anyway). AND WHO BOY WHAT REVELATIONS. the Scourge is the leftovers of a superweapon explosion that went off here in a galaxy-wide terraforming accident! makes sense! we still need another widget because of course we do! and the big one: THE ANGARA WERE DESIGNED AND MADE. (sidebar: after that reveal, they had the sweetest little conversation of Peebee assuring him if he wanted to talk she’s there for him, and he was like “why because now I’m a remnant curiosity? ... SIKE lol ur FACE” and I just. don’t understand. why I’m not allowed to date both of them.)
once again, I cannot emphasize enough how much better and more thematically resonant this game would be if Ryder were quarian and instead of the human ark we were from the quarian ark. like, the parallels! the depth and nuance! the hard questions! it’s a bummer in general that they decided no quarians in Andromeda, but this really just does seem like an obvious and illuminating solution to so many pitfalls and half-problems. it makes me so frustrated.
checking on everyone after, I was really touched by Liam’s take, which is ‘fuck the people who made the scourge, minefields make life unlivable for civilians.” he’s such a good egg. Gil’s gonna co-parent with Jill, which is incredibly sweet. and Jaal was dreamy as all get-out, what with his “There's a peace in knowing that though the universe is beyond your understanding, it doesn't need your understanding to function” and his “I’m not broken, I’m excited” and his “this changes nothing except ourselves.” IF NOTHING WE DO MATTERS THEN ALL THAT MATTERS IS WHAT WE DO. he told me i made him feel safe, which is just. that’s some top-tier shit right there, and thank goodness, because later on bioware would TRULY TRY MY PATIENCE (lol spoilers). also he sent me an email with the subject line “from your romantic friend Jaal” which is just. my heart. i can’t.
so that was all great! i was having a good time!
and then I went to the Nexus and gave my next interview with Keri, and she was like “hey come cheat on your boyf at the bar with me.” and I was like well I’m sure not doing that but I do have to complete the mission so I guess I’ll have another agonizing conversation like I did with Vetra where I let her down easy. ONLY THAT IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED, BECAUSE THE GAME DID NOT GIVE ME A WAY TO TURN HER DOWN. LITERALLY ALL DIALOGUE OPTIONS WERE CONSENT TO CHEATING SEX. WTF??????? i really feel some kind of way about that, and like I get that I didn’t have to flirt with her and I guess I could have just not gone to the Vortex, I don’t understand the utility of a side romance you’re locked into. it made me feel super gross, and both violating and violated. NOT EVEN PLAYING FIRE CHESS WITH DRACK, KESH AND VORN COULD CHEER ME UP.
Jaal tried to lift my spirits by choosing me over a fancy new job with the Resistance, but I couldn’t really get into it seeing as I was wracked with guilt over being forced to bang someone else. but he invited me to a date on Aya, so I went there and talked through all the angarans’ existential crises over the new ~revelations.
and then-- MY FAULT, REALLY, I COULD HAVE PICKED THE NO-SEX OPTION BUT AGAIN I WAS MOTIVATED LARGELY BY GUILT-- I had to endure the world’s most off-puttingly milquetoast Obligatory Act Three Side Boob (or as Helen calls it, the “pre-climax climax”). only IT WASN’T SIDEBOOB, IT WAS FULL ON BOOB. BOOBS LIKE A CHEST PLATE. IMMOVABLE, GRAVITY-DEFYING BOOBS. SOME MATRIARCH BENEZIA BADONKERS I HAVE BEEN CARRYING AROUND APPARENTLY. THAT STAND STRAIGHT UP EVEN WHEN RYDER IS SUPINE, AND ALSO I FEEL WEIRD THAT JAAL IMMEDIATELY UNDERSTOOD ORAL SEX WITH HUMANS????
I’m disappointed. which I figured would be inevitable given how poorly I think Bioware handles romance in general, but I was really hoping Jaal would be an exception because the only reason I romanced him at all was because his unique quirks took me by surprise and felt consistent and well-rounded. like! he’s so sweet and fuckin weird! where was any of that??? and then he called me TEMPTRESS in his follow-up email which I uhhh did not love.
luckily I was able to get the taste out of my mouth by having movie night with the crew my whole family, and Kallo reminded me why he is in fact my stealth fave. the body language in this scene was a surprise, but not an unpleasant one-- Cora leaning on Liam’s knees! Peebee cuddling Kallo! Helen said if I hadn’t romanced anyone I would have fallen asleep on Drack and that is Good, Actually.
only thing left is the end game! we’ll see how it goes.

Summary: (Y/N) Mercury’s journey of love, fame, and pain, alongside what would become one of the most legendary bands ever, Queen.
Pairing: Borhap!Queen x Reader, eventual Brian May x Reader
A/N: sorry i haven’t been posting !!! this chapter was kind of a pain to write so i apologize if it does seem kinda bad heuheuhsudh. happy reading! 💓
Warnings: Mentions of drinking and smoking, suggestive themes
{previous chapter} {next chapter}
“Do you really think she’ll sing this?” Roger asked, holding onto a piece of paper, while looking at Brian, confused.
Brian shrugged, “It’s worth a try.”
“I do kind of like the song,” Roger said, “But, it’s literally about girls’ arses, Brian, she’ll never sing this!”
“Sing what?”
Brian, Roger, and John all jumped at your sudden appearance, letting out breaths when they see it was just you, sipping on a juice box.
Brian then cleared his throat, and stammered, “Oh, uh, it’s noth-”
“Brian wrote a song,” Roger interrupted, immediately handing over the piece of paper over to you.
The curly-haired guitarist then smacked his blond friend’s arm in annoyance before he started to tap on his chin in nervousness, cheeks warming up, while watching you read the lyrics.
Roger expected a sour look to appear on your face while you read the paper, but then got a smile slowly growing on your face instead.
“It’s alright if you don’t want to sing it,” Brian sighed, “I was stupid to ask-”
“Fuck yeah, I’ll sing it.”
I've been singing with my band
Across the wire, across the land
I seen every blue eyed floozy on the way, hey
But their beauty and their style
Went kind of smooth after a while
Take me to them dirty ladies every time
You couldn’t decide whether you loved America or not. It was definitely your kind of place but, some people can be such a drag.
Like last night, all four of you were out in a random pub and this stocky man kept flirting with you but luckily, your three favorite lads were there to protect you.
All of them were pissed off by it, especially Brian. You didn’t think that it would still irk him until the next day.
Maybe he was just was protective of his friend?
All of the bus trips to different parts of America mostly consisted of you sleeping, drinking, smoking, destroying the lads in Scrabble, and, Roger, sometimes Brian and John, picking up a few girls here and there.
It was a quite annoying and it bothered you a lot, but that was the new lifestyle, I guess.
C'mon!
Oh, won't you take me home tonight?
Oh, down beside your red firelight
“We love you, Cleveland!”
“We love you, Houston!”
Oh, and you give it all you got
“We love you, Denver! Very happy to be here!”
Fat bottomed girls, you make the rockin' world go 'round
Fat bottomed girls, you make the rockin' world go 'round
“And are the crowds big?” Matthew asked through the phone.
“Well, we’re selling out every night. I just wish you were here to see it, they really love us.” You replied, leaning against the payphone.
“We love you, Portland!”
Hey, listen here!
Now I got mortgages on homes
You can’t help but playfully tap Brian’s arse, “He’s got a big arse, too!”
I got stiffness in my bones
“We love you, New Orleans!”
Ain't no beauty queens in this locality, I tell you
“We love you, Atlanta!”
Oh, but I still get my pleasure
Still got my greatest treasure
You called over the blond drummer to the front, “Rog! Come down here and say hello!”
“We love you, Pittsburgh!”
“Roger!”
Heap big woman, you done made a big man of me
“I’m good, I just miss you,” Matthew said, feeling a bit lonely in your shared flat.
“What are you doing? You can’t possibly be having any fun without me.” You replied, playfully.
He chuckled, “Nothing as exciting as America.”
As he was saying this, you noticed a familiar man pass by you, you didn’t realize you were staring until he, himself, stared back and had a little smug smile on his face.
He continued to walk towards the bathroom, your eyes not leaving him.
“Say hi to the boys for me,” Matthew’s voice snapped you back to reality, before you stammered, “I will, I love you.”
“Bye, (Y/N), I love you.” Matthew breathed, before ending the call to go to work.
As the man opened the bathroom door, he looked back toward you once more with a suggestive smirk and went inside.
You put the phone back and leaned against the wall, getting a view of his black t-shirt that had your band’s logo on the back above the word, ‘crew.’
Get on your bikes and ride
Ooh yeah, oh yeah, them fat bottomed girls
Fat bottomed girls
Yeah yeah yeah
Alright, ride 'em, c'mon
Fat bottomed girls, yes yes
Looking at the closed door with a sigh, you began to reflect on all the times you had felt this way, or had this kind of moment.
You felt. . . somewhat unhappy or empty. But, what more could you ask for? You and your band were literally rockstars at this point.
You still couldn’t quite figure it out yet but luckily, the amazing shows and its crowds were there to distract you from it.
After you had all returned home from the tour, a meeting was set up between the band and Ray Foster.
It was way past the agreed meeting time and Ray Foster’s office was currently in complete utter silence, except for the occasional tongue-clicking and sighs, as everyone including Reid, Paul and, Jim Beach all waited for you.
The silence was suddenly interrupted with the door slamming open, “Hello,” You greeted, walking in with an outfit that clearly contrasted everyone else’s.
“You’re late,” Foster said with a somewhat annoyed tone, as you made your way to the empty seat, “Am I?”
As you passed by, your bandmates’ eyes couldn’t help but follow your ‘figure’ that Brian definitely did not write that song about, wearing the shortest shorts they’ve ever seen.
Paul smiled, before gesturing towards the empty seat, “Saved you a seat.”
“Lovely,” You said, before sitting down, immediately grabbing a cigarette from your jacket pocket.
“Okay, so, now that we’re all here, Jim, this is Ray Foster, Ray, this is the band’s lawyer, Jim Beach,” Reid introduced them.
“Oh, you must stop calling him that,” You said, as you lit up your cigarette.
Reid sighed, “That’s his name.”
“No, we cannot keep calling him ‘Jim Beach’. No, that’s absurd, not to mention, unspeakably boring.” You counter, before taking a drag.
“Miami,” You announced, Brian letting out a chuckle, “From now on, I dub thee, Miami Beach!” You grinned, as you pointed towards him.
Jim chuckled, “The sun always sets behind you, doesn’t it? On. . . Miami Beach.”
You shot him a smile in amusement, “Hm.”
“Right. Now that everybody’s got an acceptable name, let’s get to it,” Foster began, “Look, we just really need something special. More hits, like Killer Queen. . . only bigger.”
You grabbed a record from the bag beside your chair and stood up, walking towards the record player by Foster’s desk.
“It’s not bloody widgets we’re making,” Roger chided, “We can’t just reproduce Killer Queen.”
Replacing the record with the one that you brought, “No,” You set down the tone arm onto the record, “We can do better.”
As music started to play, you looked towards your bandmates with a knowing smile before taking a drag out of your cigarette.
Brian looked at you in amusement as you started to sway around behind Foster, “It’s opera,” Foster said with a deadpan tone.
“Opera!” Reid nodded, before Paul joined in too, “Opera!”
Your bandmates nodded in enjoyment as John says, “Yeah, there seems to be an echo in here!”
Swaying along with the music, your bandmates join along as well, while Foster just looked at you in bewilderment.
As the louder part of the song came, your hand moved along with it, ending literally with a bang on Foster’s desk.
You and your bandmates began to shake, trying hard not to laugh out loud at Foster’s reaction.
Afterwards, you slowly swayed your way back to the record player, before turning down the volume.
“See, we don’t want to repeat ourselves, the same formula, over and over,” Brian explained.
“Formulas are a complete and utter waste of time,” You continued, as Brian nodded in agreement.
“Formulas work. Let’s stick with the formulas, I like formulas,” Foster said, a smile growing on his face.
Completely ignoring what he just said, “We’ll call the album. . .” You looked over towards your bandmates, “A Night at the Opera.”
Foster sighed, “Are you aware that no one actually likes opera?”
“I like opera,” Miami chimed, “Do you?” Foster looked over to him before Reid chimed in as well, “I do.”
“No, don’t misunderstand, darling. It’s a rock and roll record. . . with the scale of opera, the pathos of Greek tragedy, the wit of Shakespeare, the. . . unbridled joy of musical theater,” You grinned.
Your bandmates nodded in agreement, before you continued, “It’s a musical experience, rather than just another record.”
“Something for everyone. . . something. . .” You looked over towards your bandmates, “Something that will make people feel belongs to them.”
“We’ll mix genres, we’ll cross boundaries, we’ll. . . we’ll speak in bloody tongues if we want to!” You chuckled.
“There’s no musical ghetto that can contain us!” Roger argued.
“That’s it,” You pointed towards him.
“No one knows what Queen means because it doesn’t mean one thing!” John added.
Foster sighed, before looking over towards Reid, “What do you think, John?”
“I. . . agree with the band,” Reid gestured towards you all before Foster replied, “Of course you do. How about you, uh. . .”
“Miami,” Jim answered, as you look at him with a grin, “Fortune favors the bold.”
You turned towards Foster, placing both your hands on his desk, “Surely, a man of your. . . unique taste isn’t afraid of a little risk?”
Foster then shook his head at you, “Please don’t make me regret this.”
You grinned as you pointed towards him,
“You’re fun.”

💕💖Happy Valentine's Day! 💙🧡
Drew Widget and Bang taking a mirror selfie together during their years in college :]
Okay, so lore/headcanon drop:
Widget and Bang first met at Storybot University and quickly became college buddies, connecting by their similar views of life and even personal struggles of feeling misunderstood and out of place. Some stuff here and there, and after a lot of bonding, the two soon became sort of a thing; Like best buds but a little something more.
Near the end of their college experience (Either they graduated or dropped out), they moved in together in an apartment as roomies. After some time, both got into the workforce in order to make money and get by. This is when Widget meets Penny while working as a intern, and when Bang joins Answer Team 341B.
Thus that leads to the present day where Widget has their girlfriend Penny, and Bang and Boop are a thing too (I love/ship those two), all while Widget and Bang still being their own thing and best friends ofc. It's like an N or Z polycule.
Wanna make a drawing one day of Penny introducing them like: "This is my partner Widget, and this is their partner Bang, and this is his partner Boop." I think that would be really fun and silly c:
Anyways, live laugh love Citruses (Widget x Penny), Blueberry Pancakes (Widget x Bang), and Bang x Boop (Idk if they even have a ship name lol)
So yeah, I hope you enjoy this and have a lovely day!💕
#i finally got around to explain the polycule#yayyy#got inspired by the Western AU art to finally have to courage to talk about mine#I love Widget and Bang#they're just so silly and warm and stuff#they mean a lot to me#I also really love Widget and Penny <3#and Bang and Boop c:#polycules rule#happy valentines#valentines day#happy valentine's day#storybots#ask the storybots#storybots answer time#storybots fanart#bang storybots#storybots bang#widget#widget whatchamacallit#widget storybots#storybots oc#ship art#oc x canon#polyamory#valentines art#digital art#digital illustration

Ace Attorney fic: Split-Lip Smile
Split-lip Smile
Athena wiggled her tooth with her tongue. It was hanging in there barely. She wished it would just give up and fall already. That felt like a dumb metaphor for…something. She liked wiggling it though, it distracted her from the pain, thoughts about how her hair was all gross and caked in blood, and much, much darker thoughts…
Everyone in here was miserable and their emotions screamed so loudly she thought her eardrums would burst open. Her only solace was the couple in the corner. They were arguing endlessly but they were also stupidly, horribly in love. The vibe of it was strong that if she focused and basked in it, she could block everyone else out, even her own pain. Even if she wasn’t a freak of nature she’d be able to tell how into each other they were. Just their body language and the way they talked made it clear they had known each other for years, probably pined for years, sailed the stormy seas of hardship together. It was red string of fate stuff. Athena had a secret weakness for that bullshit deep down, so it was nice hearing it. If Junie the hopeless romantic was here. she’d be melting right now.
No. Don’t think about Junie. She would hate to see you like this. Athena clenched her first, making a cuff chafe her wrist. The cool metal was kinda soothing, despite everything.
Anyway. The couple. They were such a comically mismatched pair, it was funny just looking at them. So funny she couldn’t stop making her mouth hurt. Like, on one hand, you had a slouched, unshaven guy in a ratty sweatshirt and, ugh, sandals as well. Topping it all off was one of the gaudiest caps she’d ever seen…it said “papa” on it, so he had a kid, and Athena felt deeply sorry for whoever it was. Because the other guy was just as bad, in the opposite direction. He was ramrod straight, wearing a super garish purple-red-magenta-she-really-couldn’t-decide-the-color suit, and what even was the thing around his neck? Was it a cravat? She’d never seen a cravat that weird, had he layered three of them of something? It looked like unfolding tissue paper.
The tissue paper man was like a million emotions at one right now, tired, angry, sad, disappointed, amused…you wouldn’t know it from just looking at him though, he had pinched expression like he was so above trivial things like feelings. The other dude only had one emotion besides love going on and it was a deep, dark sadness. She recognized the flavor of sadness just because it was so like her own- he’d lost a part of himself and given up on getting it back. He was another one who wasn’t reflecting how he felt in how he acted though, he had an easy smile and laugh that was annoying in how constant it was. Tissue man was SO annoyed at him it was hilarious. And his voice was carrying to the point she didn’t even need superhearing to pick it up.
“YOU may not care what happens to you, but you have RESPONSIBILITIES and to do such immature and reckless things at your age..”
“Edgeworth, I’m not going to outgrow being reckless.”
Edgeworth. That did not sound like a first name. They were together and they called each other by last names? Weirder every second.
“You COULD if you wanted to. Look, Gumshoe and I and even Franziska let you get away with a lot, but you do NOT know the authorities here.”
“You asked me to help.”
“I specifically said to be careful.”
“Yeah, I know you don’t want me to embarrass you.” Sandal man shrugged.
“That was not what I meant and you know it.”
Another shrug. “But I did embarrass you.”
“I don’t get embarrassed.”
That definitely a lie (a lie that was so amusing to Sandals that it broke his sadness for a moment) but it was true he wasn’t feeling embarrassment right now. He was just worried. She kind of wished she could communicate that to Sandals. Not that he’d believe her.
“Well, I don’t want to humiliate you further, so let’s go back to your place.” Sandals began to shuffle across the room. Edgeworth sighed and followed him. She couldn’t help but sigh herself. She didn’t want them to leave, she needed something to focus on.
As if he’d read her mind, Sandals stopped dead in his tracks. Was he looking at her?
“Hey, are you okay?”
THAT’S A STUPID QUESTION.
Athena swore and grabbed at Widget. How the hell was it talking? She’d stopped charging it ages ago, it was supposed to be dead as a doornail. It hadn’t spoken in YEARS.
“Cool robot thing.” Sandals said like it was a completely normal accessory. “And it’s right, that was stupid. What I meant is…what happened?”
IT’S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.
“That’s never stopped me before,” Sandals said cheerfully.
“Wright, don’t meddle,” Edgeworth scolded, but she could hear equal concern from him as he stood there, examining her so methodically it was unnerving. His gaze traveled over her gross hair, her right eye that was swelling shut, the huge bruise on her jaw, her split lip, her dirty ripped clothes…when his eyes landed on her cuffed hands and skinned knuckles, his eyes narrowed, and Athena braced for him to tell Wright that they couldn’t consort with criminals or some other stuffy-elitist-rich-guy thing, but instead his concern swelled slightly. “Is your wrist sprained? Or possibly broken?”
Athena tried for a disaffected shrug but it jostled her right arm too much and she hissed in pain. Wright actually winced along with her.
“So, what’s the deal?” he said. “Who did this to you and why are you here? Was it for defending yourself against the jerk who did this to you?”
“Why do you care?”
“If it was self defense I can he-“ he stopped dead. “I know people who can help.” He corrected himself. There was pain buried deep in his voice. She could see a similar pain in Edgeworth’s expression.
“It wasn’t.”
. “Then…are you taking the fall for whoever did this to you?” The concern had intensified and there was a bit of pity mixed in now. She couldn’t stand it
“I don’t know why you’re assuming I’m some victim and not just a delinquent,” Athena snapped. “I got in a fight with a cop, okay? I started it, too.”
Athena expected them to scold her and walk away at this. Indeed, she didn’t need powers to tell disapproval was now emanating from Edgeworth, but she could hear from his tutting that it didn’t greatly override the concern. And Wright’s emotions didn’t change a bit. He leaned in curiously. “Why’d you do a thing like that?”
“Again, why do you care? I just told you I was in the wrong!”
“Well, not necessarily-“ Wright said. “There’s some really bad cops out there. It depends on what started the fight.”
“Though violence should always be a last resort,” Edgeworth sniffed. “However, let’s hear the tale.”
Athena stared at both of them. They seemed to genuinely want to listen. She didn’t why they’d zeroed in on her, why they cared, but..
“I saw a guy being arrested and the cops were smacking him around, calling him a murderer, and he was so scared and I knew he didn’t do it, so I started arguing with them and they didn’t believe me and were taking him and I had to do something; I couldn’t be useless again, so I tried to fight them so he could escape but it didn’t work, of course it didn’t work”. It all poured out of her in one breath, she couldn’t control it. Her eyes burned and her bruises ached. She hunched over a little, letting her bangs fall over her face.
“Huh.” Wright was…impressed for some reason. “So, what was your relationship to this guy? Was he important to you?”
She flushed. How could she explain this part? “…N-no. It was the first time I’d met him…I just happened to be there. I’m not even positive what his name was. Cartwright, I think.”
Edgeworth put a hand over his eyes and groaned.
“How did you know he was innocent then?” Wright was…excited? Why?
Athena looked down. Okay, they had finally gotten there. The part that would make him leave. “You won’t believe me,” she mumbled.
“I wouldn’t sure about that. You’d be surprised at some of the shit I’ve seen,” Wright said, prompting a scold from Edgeworth about behavior in front of children that he ignored. “Try me.”
Might as well rip the band-aid off. “Okay then. I’ve got…sensitive hearing. I can hear what emotions they’re feeling, if they’re lying….usually.”
Edgeworth was dragging his hand over his face now. “If you’re trying to say you’re magic-“
“No!” Athena interrupted angrily. “It’s science, okay! There’s been an entire research paper published on the phenomenon by-” she gulped “a-a very good psychologist if you’d care to look it up!”
“Oh.” Edgeworth said, a lot of his skepticism suddenly gone. Wright rolled his eyes. Then he pointed at her necklace. “Is that little guy related to your power at all?”
“He’s supposed to help me tap into it, but he’s buggy. He actually stopped working for a long time, I don’t know why he suddenly-“ she stopped and narrowed her eyed at Wright. “Wait, you really believe me about my powers?”
Wright shrugged. “Why not? I’ve seen weirder.”
Athena wanted to ask “how?” all sarcastically, but she couldn’t quite find her voice. She was overwhelmed by the…acceptance she heard from him. The trust. It was something she hadn’t had directed at her in quite a while.
“May I take a look?” Wright said, gesturing again at Widget. She nodded mutely. He leaned closer, examining him. “God, Ema would love this.”
Athena had no idea who Ema was and she didn’t get the chance to ask, because Wright suddenly said, “What’s your name?”
“…Athena Cykes.”
“Well, Ms. Cykes, my name is Phoenix Wright. I’m just a humble pianist, but I used to work in law and have a couple of connections. And my partner here is a big deal, fancy-pants prosecutor. So we might be able to do something about this false arrest if you tell us what you know.”
Edgeworth threw his head back as if to appeal to the heavens. “How did I know we’d end up here? And just drag me into it too. You’re impossible, Wright. I remind you I just got us out of a scrape-”. He carried on scolding for a while but Athena could barely hear him over the swell of intense fondness that washed over every word he said. She couldn’t detect a scrap of actual irritation. Phoenix seemed to understand this and listened calmly until he had finished.
“…all right then, you talk to her if you so desperately want do it. I’m going to go demand some medical attention for her wrist. I’m sure you’ll convey everything to me later.”
“Thanks, Edgeworth.”
As Edgeworth left, Phoenix took the seat beside her. “Now, Ms. Cykes, tell me everything you know from the beginning. Don’t leave anything out.” When she hesitated, he grinned and said, “Don’t worry, you can trust me.”
She bit her lip. There was no way this man was going to actually help her. Even if he wanted to, he wouldn’t be able to. But…she thought of the sheer bone-chilling despair she’d felt from the man, the discord in his voice like nails down a chalkboard when he’d given in and said he did it…it was a sound she’d heard a long time ago, that she still heard echoing in her head every night. She didn’t want the man’s voice to join the chorus. She had to try something. What did she have to lose? What did he?
Besides, she had noticed something. The deep dark sadness in Phoenix had lessened a little during their conversation- somehow a ray of happiness had broken through in his voice, the tiniest bit of sunshine. For whatever reason, he was doing with her had made something happen inside him, had filled in a little of whatever it was he’d lost. She liked that feeling. She wanted to keep hearing it from him.
So she told him every single detail she could remember. She told him all the events of the night leading up to it, every speck of conversation, every tiny thing she’d seen or overhead, every blow of the fight, every shift in emotion….and basked for as long as she could in in the weak ray of warmth, enjoying how it strengthened with each word she said. Edgeworth came in with a harried officer who examined her wrist and started to wrap it, only for Edgeworth to insist they weren’t doing it right and intervene himself. He was surprisingly gentle.
He caught Athena narrowing her eyes at Phoenix, who was trying to calm down the irate officer.
“I’m sorry if my partner’s meddling has angered you at all. I know he can be…overwhelming”.
“No…uh, well I guess, yeah, a little..” Athena mumbled. “I just…don’t get why he believed me so easily.”
Edgeworth shook his head. “That’s just what he does. Believe in people. Whether they want him to or not.” The affection in his tone was so intense Athena almost felt like she should cover her ears.
After they were done and Phoenix had finally calmed the irate officer down, he shook her good hand and said, “we’ll call the number you gave us when we have something for you. Your parents will be coming to get you soon, right?”
“Yeah,” Athena lied. Her great-aunt and uncle were pretty done with her at this point. They hadn’t answered when the cops called. She was probably going to spend the night here. But that was none of Phoenix’s business. She was curious about something, though.
“Um…before you leave, I just want to know…why were you so interested in hearing my story? I mean, really? Why did you insist like you did?”
“Well, for one thing, because I have my own kid and when I see a beat- up teenager I generally want to know what’s going on.” Phoenix put his hands in his pockets. “And second, I saw you watching us out of the corner of my eye. And I saw you were smiling, like you thought we were cute or something.”
Edgeworth made a vaguely affronted noise. Athena looked down at her lap, flushing slightly. She hadn’t realized at all that he’d noticed her.
“It’s okay. I’m a romantic too. Anyway, it was a very warm smile. I figured if you could smile through a busted lip like that over something as doofy as the two of us, you had to be a good person. And pretty observant!” He grinned at her. “I wanted to hear your story.”
There it was again. Acceptance. And a genuine fondness, even though he’d just met her. It was all so weird and overwhelming. All she could manage was an “I…I see.”
Phoenix nodded at her. “We’ll come through for you Athena. Just hang in there ‘till then.”
“And take this to clean yourself up some more.” Edgeworth handed her a handerchief.
As they walked out, she heard him start in on Phoenix. “So, should I draw up adoption papers for this one? Will she be added to your collection?”
“Well, hey, Trucy did always want a big sister…”
Their bickering faded and the cozy affection wafted away and Athena was alone again.
She looked down at the handkerchief. Who the hell even carried these around anymore? It was soft too. She rubbed it against her face, scraping dried blood away bit by bit. She almost felt bad messing something so nice up. But she couldn’t let go of it, it was only proof she had that the men had been real, not just some hallucination bought on by head trauma.
As she predicted, no one came to get her. She was eventually ushered to a holding cell. She sat down on the flimsy cot, handkerchief still wadded in her hand. The stale air made every wound ache more. She leaned against the wall, letting the cold stone sooth her bruises. She wondered if this was the same kind of stone they used for cemeteries. Was Simon in a place just like this right now? No, he had to be somewhere even worse.
She could suddenly see Simon standing across from her. She opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out.
If there was any justice in the world, you’d be stay in here with me, he rumbled. The room seemed to be getting smaller by the second.
Cartwright was standing next to him. It’s what you deserve for being so weak. They were closing in on her. So was the flat gray wall behind them. It was shuddering ominously. She wanted to scream at them to get away, but she had no voice. It all collapsed, burying them in rubble. This place really was a grave after all.
Her eyes flew open. She’d fallen asleep somehow, huddled in this cold little corner. Just a dream.
The handkerchief had fallen to the floor and was all covered in dirt. She picked it up numbly. The men who had given this to her felt like a dream now too. They were so distant, and so was the hope anything could change. She was never going to see them again. Even if they really had believed her, they’d think better of it. They’d realize she was just some crazy little girl. They’d forget about her.
It had been nice though. To be listened to, even if just for a little while. But it that never lasted. She just wasn’t meant to be heard. Her nightmares always made sure to remind her of that.
She didn’t know how long she sat there, but eventually the sound of keys clanking jostled her out of her stupor. She dragged herself up and followed the guard out. She braced herself to get an earful from her great-aunt about how much money she’d cost her. But that wasn’t who she found waiting for her in the lobby. She found Phoenix Wright and Prosecutor Edgeworth, looking a little tired, but both smiling.
“We called you, but nobody picked up, so we thought we’d check here. You should have told us you needed someone.”
“Why are you here?”
“To give you some good news!” Phoenix threw his arms wide. “We proved Mr. Cartwright innocent. He won’t even have to go to court. They’re releasing him now and the real killer’s been taken in.”
She stared at him. She hadn’t heard a hint of spite or insincerity in his voice- he was brimming with a very pure happiness. But still, what he said couldn’t be true. It just couldn’t.
“…but…there’s no way…it’s been one night…you couldn’t’ve…”
“We’re used to working fast. And you’re a way more honest and observant witness than I usually get. The stuff you told me basically led us right to the truth.” Phoenix clapped her on the shoulder. “Edgeworth smoothed stuff over for you, so let’s head out to celebrate. You must be starving.”
She was too shocked to protest. She was shuffled into a red sports car and before she knew it she was listening blankly to the two of them argue about where to go. They eventually compromised on a breakfast café.
Athena only spoke to order a large portion of eggs and bacon. After placing the handkerchief carefully in her lap, she dived into the meal with all she had. As she filled up, her head cleared and it dawned on her that all this was actually real. She took a huge swig of milk to force down her last mouthful and slammed down her glass. “Okay. I want you to tell me everything”.
Question after question poured out of her and they answered them patiently. After they’d gone over every detail of how they’d solved the case, Athena leaned back in her seat and let out a breath. It felt like she’d been holding it for years.
“I didn’t think…things like this could happen.”
“Things like what?”
“I thought, if they decided someone was guilty, you couldn’t ever change their minds. I thought there was nothing anyone could do so I just…” she twisted the handkerchief in her hands. “I just gave up.”
“I don’t think that’s really true,” Phoenix said quietly. “if you had, you wouldn’t have fought for that man.”
She shook her head. “I was just angry. I knew it was hopeless. That I was helpless. But you…you saved him. You actually saved someone.”
Phoenix leaned forward, looking her directly in the eye. “You saved someone, Athena. We couldn’t have done any of this without you. You were brave enough to stand up for him. You were brave enough to tell your story- his story. Don’t forget that.”
“But I almost didn’t tell you. I didn’t believe lawyers could do anything.”
“Yeah well, sometimes we can’t,” Phoenix sighed. Edgeworth made a “hmmph” noise and looked away. In that short syllable Athena heard anger and billion other emotions she couldn’t untangle. “But we can do a lot if we have a client like you.”
Athena’s grip relaxed on the cloth. She felt like she was teetering on the edge of something and once she fell, there would be no going back. “Lawyers…can really save people.”
“Yep. Thank you for reminding me of that.” Phoenix stroked his chin. “You remind me of a lot of things, actually. You’re passionate, perceptive, inquisitive….”
“Reckless,” Edgeworth said under his breath.
“…and most importantly, you have a strong desire to help people with no one on their side.” He continued like Edgeworth hadn’t spoken. He slid a card across the table. “Let’s keep in touch, Athena. A kid like you is gonna go places, and I want to hear about it. Heck, if I ever get back into law, I might give you a call.”
Edgeworth raised an eyebrow at this. “Oh? Getting back into law, are we?”
“I said IF.” Phoenix grumbled, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Of course,” Edgeworth said with the utmost calm, face impassive. But he couldn’t hide his real feelings from Athena. They buzzed pleasantly in her ears.
Athena looked down at the card. “Wright Anything Agency”. She wrinkled her nose. “Why’s there a purple stain on this?”
“Uh, sorry, just ignore that,” Phoenix said as Edgeworth sighed deeply.
Athena was most silent as they drove her home. She has a lot to mull over. When they let her out at her apartment, Edgeworth made a point of asking her why her parents hadn’t come for her, and she explained that she didn’t have parents and that she lived with relatives that were fine, but they were too busy to deal with her much. “I see,” he said with a pain and understanding that took her by surprise.
It wasn’t until they pulled away that she realized she’d forgotten something. She ran after the car, yelling her thanks and waving the handkerchief like she was at a train station in an old movie. Phoenix waved back at her, but they didn’t turn around to retrieve Edgeworth’s item. Eventually, the car disappeared over the horizon.
No one was home, so she used the key under the mat to enter. She went upstairs to her room and looked in the mirror. She looked like a living wreck, a total nightmare. But still, a smile was threatening despite her split lip.
Phoenix Wright, the former lawyer who dressed like a bum. And that prosecutor…Simon hadn’t been nearly that stuffy. But he had been nearly as awkward. And worn weird fancy clothes. Maybe that was just a requirement for the profession.
She wondered if Simon was still awkward. She wondered if he still liked samurai movies and got nervous around kids. She wondered if prison had hardened him into someone unrecognizable. Probably. He had probably changed a lot.
But she was changing too.
She sat down on her bed. A lawyer can save someone. She couldn’t believe she’d never considered it before. If she became a lawyer…she might be able to overturn his sentence. If she could get the case re-opened.
They won’t listen to you. No one will ever listen to you.
That’s what she’d thought. But now she knew there were people who would. And she could work with them. She would absorb everything he knew…
DON’T FORGET ABOUT ME!
She jumped at Widget’s voice, the looked down. Just a little while earlier, she’d wanted to rip this embarrassing thing off her neck. But now she welcomed it. Two voices were louder than one. She wanted to make them hear what was inside her heart. She would shout it from the rooftops. And if she could use her mother’s analytical psychology and her stupid power to do some good for once, if she could prove it was a real asset to the law and rub that in the faces of everyone who had denied her and doubted her…that was all the better.
“Yeah,” Athena reached up, cupping her hand around her necklace. Her mouth stretched into a smile. She could still see that tooth hanging in there. She punched it with her tongue and it finally fell, clattering to the floor. Her grin stretched wider and wider, so wide that her lip reopened and blood dribbled down her chin. It really was a nice smile. “Yeah. Let’s do this.”
A/N: I finally finished this- ended up being longer than I expected. I wanted to write something about how Athena and Phoenix met ever since finishing replaying Dual Destinies. Very few details were mentioned in the game about how it happened, we know it was in Europe while he was visiting Edgeworth, we know he saw potential in her and she once mentions he “helped her out a jam”- that’s about it, iirc. It’s very mysterious. So I springboarded off these vague details. There might be something in canon that contradicts some of this, idk, but I did my best.
A while back, I wrote a couple ace attorney one-shots dealing with various types of grief and angst with a couple different characters. Then someone in my family actually died and I stopped writing fanfic for a while. But I always wanted to do something from Athena’s POV to round it all out so I could make it a series on Ao3. I finally did this one after feeling a strange compulsion to write about someone who was injured and arrested. But it's longer and more positive and doesn't quite fit in with the others? Oh well. I kept the details of what Athena saw with the murder case and other stuff vague because this got long enough as it is- the police procedure for Athena being taken in here probably doesn’t make sense but it’s the Ace Attorney universe so the rules are probably different and more nonsensical anyway. Hope you enjoyed!

My Hero Academia, season 2 - Episode 35
Hey, I saw Solo. Liked it a lot. Now let’s shift gears to anime. It’s My Hero Academia, episode 35! Here we GO!
-We begin basically exactly where we left off, with Fumikage and Tsu surrounded…
-Opening!
-Episode 35: Yaoyorozu: Rising
-So as the whole group comes in, Fumikage pulls out his Dark Shadow…And snatches up Tsu?! GET IN POSITION! He throws her up into the balconies of this amphitheater, where she catches him in turn with her tongue, ripping them both up out of the battlefield! They’re off in a flash, having cooked together a solid plan based on their abilities…And as Recovery Girl returns, Deku’s left trying to figure out what specific gap the teachers are trying to make these two work on.
-Especially given Ectoplasm is their opponent. What gap could his Quirk be exposing…? It’s Fumikage’s. Watch close, children.
-While at the escape gate, one Ectoplasm awaits. And we get the lowdown on his ability to expel his namesake ectoplasm, which turns into clones. He can hold about 30 together, but get him on a roll and he can knock out a few more!
-In the field, the clones keep coming, fading and reforming to avoid having to actually chase the children down by their rules…Fumikage’s real flaw is how poor he is at dealing with a proper knockdown, straight-up fight. If someone has the strength, speed or sheer trickery to get past Dark Shadow…But that’s why Tsu is there. She’s not here to learn how to cover gaps in herself, because the kid’s flexible and very well balanced. Her chief limitation is one of simple inexperience; she hasn’t had a lot of times where she’s had to cover someone else’s weaknesses and put their strengths forward.
-And that’s not just physical, but emotional…Keeping her comrade calm, and firmly believing they can win, is at least as important as actually bringing the extra muscle to make it true. And that’s when they get to the real Ectoplasm…Who summons a massive clone, and this becomes full on Attack On Ectoplasm! It grabs them both up in its thick mass, ensnaring the two in the ectoplasm and holding them firm…
-Fumikage sends forth Dark Shadow, but Ectoplasm holds him back…While as Fumikage starts to panic, Tsu starts to put together a plan…Managing to vomit something back up that she slips to Dark Shadow! But what was it…?
-…The cuffs! She swallowed them at the start of the match, and by putting the cuff on Ectoplasm’s leg, it’s a victory! One by the skin of their teeth, but it’s a victory.
-While Momo watches…And all her doubts come bubbling up again.
-Let’s see a bit of Tenya and Tailman against…Power Loader? Shit, I should’ve called this guy Tonka Tough. But anyways, they’re in a rough environment with Power Loader hidden underground…So there’s only one solution!
-GATTAI-DA!
-I would also accept MECHA SHIVA.
-Either way, Tailman piggybacks onto Tenya’s back, and with a Reciproburst, Tenya just starts sprinting past even faster than Power Loader can open up sinkholes! And it works…Almost to the gates, where he opens up the entire field ahead of them! Fine, change of plans! Latch onto his leg and get ready!
-RECIPRO EXTEND! Tenya whips himself around, and with Tailman holding on tight , he swings him clear through the air! He manages to spring off of Power Loader, and pass through the gate before he can be stopped! And that’s a green light. Not only that, but Tenya pulled off the pass without either of the two getting injured, putting him in a hypothetical good spot to buy time while his comrade goes to get more help. …I mean, except for the part where he landed in a pitfall and is buried up to his neck.
-Okay, to Shoto and Momo, who are clearly the focus ones of the episode! And as they start their run through a suburb-style test field, Shoto’s initial plan is simple. Keep making little widgets. As soon as you can’t, that means Eraser Head has found them.
-And speaking of, we get a quirk reminder of how he can shut down Quirks. And Shoto’s full plan? In short, move for the gate stealthily, get as close as they can. When they’re inevitably spotted, he’ll go full on the attack while she’ll fucking run to get to safety. It’s not a bad plan, especially considering that Shoto can put a lot more instantaneous use of his Quirk into play if he can just get a little access to it. The only problem is, Momo is running on tons of doubt right now, and it’s screwing with her head…
-Also, the simplest, quickest thing she can conjure up…Are matryoshka dolls. I can only imagine those are what she practiced making as a kid because they’re just kind of spilling out of her comically. Anyways, yeah, all of Momo’s doubts start spilling out like crazy. She’s been running and following this whole time, ever since she got into the school, unable to find her own momentum…
-Aaand the dolls have stopped spilling out. Shoto can’t ice over his hand, either. THEY’VE BEEN HAD! And their first mistake is not immediately acting! Eraser Head ensnares Shoto in two seconds, tying him up and hanging him from a telephone wire…And then, he tosses down a whole bunch of caltrops, just to make Shoto’s drop that much more difficult. And then, some eye drops to keep his eyes going, before he’s off to catch Momo. Your first mistake, Shoto, was trying to take everything on yourself…And your second, was just trying to work the plan without fully talking it over with Momo.
-Who’s having a freakout as she flees, and Eraser Head is on her in a flash! He’s been watching the kid. He can tell the sports festival rattled her. She’s not going to be at her best…Hell, the simple fact that Momo is running proves that. Running. On foot. Even if an actual bike was too large to form quickly, some roller-skates could have been done super fast, and she could have ripped a skateboard from her chest without even having to slow down.
-It’s basically the same loop that Deku gets caught in. The incredibly crucial mistake of doubt above all else…And then Eraser Head yanks her in…But without locking her down! She manages to break loose, but then turns right back around to go and try to rescue Shoto, instead of aiming for escape or combat…She’s decided her only path to success is by following another. On another day, Eraser Head would like to sit the poor kid down, talk to her, help her see that she’s playing into her own fears and just needs to break the pattern, build some instincts…
-But today is not that day. Today, his goal is simple. Win.
-Back with Shoto as he dangles, and tries to figure out what happened and how he could have fix it…When Momo gets back, and she’s got Eraser Head coming on her fast! …Shit, shit, shit, fine! Figure out a plan, Momo! You’re a thinker, a planner! Get out of your own spiral and THINK! You remember their first week? You remember the votes for class rep? You had two votes…One of them was HIS, because he could see clear as day you had the smarts and the skills to do it well!
-And Momo manages to pull herself together…As she grabs those matryoshka dolls. CLOSE YOUR EYES! She flings them up…They pop open…
-Oh.
-Oh fuck.
-They weren’t just Russian dolls.
-They were Russian dolls with flash bangs inside. Which blast right into Eraser Head’s face. It gives her enough time to get Shoto down, and to pull together her plan, something she’d been thinking about…Even though she was doubting it…Since the beginning.
-Eraser Head manages to recover. So Momo noticed. His eyes saw some serious damage in the villain attack at USJ, and he can’t hold his Quirk active as long, or use it as quickly after previous shots, as he could before…He’s got to rely more heavily on his scarf, as Momo pulls Shoto out of there! Her first plan step is they need to get moving, and out of his field of vision! Just hold whatever reflex you use to make ice, and keep trying to clench it…
-And of course, Eraser Head can’t hold his eyes open forever. He has to blink, especially coming after them with wind hitting his eyes. So even when he swings out that scarf’s end, there comes a single instant where he has to blink! and in it, Shoto just POURS IT ON at full force, forming a huge wall to block Eraser Head off!
-And, it, works! So what’s Momo’s next…Step…? She’s pouring a similar reactive scarf out of her chest. She doesn’t know the exact details of Eraser Head’s, but she knows the gist well enough to make a mimicry. One with a particular material woven into it…She even manages to put together a rough and tumble catapult. They’ve got one shot if they want to pull this off. They’ve got to land it…
-As Eraser Head watches, he spots two robed figures fleeing past the wall…They’re hiding themselves in cloth. And he snaps out his scarf as he leaps after them, ensnaring them…Only to realize he’s caught a pair of dummies being held up! And the robes were hiding the mini catapult, which Momo fires, flinging the scarf mimicry up! Momo didn’t just make hers reactive…She put in a heat-responsive lining! FLAMES, NOW!
-Shoto kicks them on, catching the end of their scarf…As the details of Momo’s plan comes out. Nitinol alloy, a shape-memory material! The heat kicks into it hard, and it locks tightly around Eraser Head! And when it’s all done, they’ve got him tied up and cuffed, as Momo swore she saw Eraser Head let her catapult trick work despite him spotting her initial flub on launch…
-So he lies through his damn teeth and insists it was because he had no idea what her plan with Shoto was. He leapt back all the same. You covered your bases well enough that a small mistake like that didn’t hurt your plan at all, kid. You’re a strategist through and through. And Momo is stirred to impassioned tears, as the victory sounds off!
-Credits!
-Aftercredits! A brief shot of Ochaco and laser belly up against Thirteen, which is…Really, not, going, well. Like, at all. Thirteen is just using their Black Hole to keep sucking them in without the slightest trouble…When laser belly reveals that his costume has conduits to conduct his laser down through various exit points, including ones on his legs! He blasts lasers…Whiiich Thirteen just sucks right up. So Ochaco’s left trying to figure out a plan…And she thinks of what Deku would do…And then laser belly sees right through it, asks him if she thinks about Deku so much because she’s into the green haired kid, and Ochaco cracks like an egg.
Yayyvyy, Momo’s put herself back together! We’ll just have to see how things go for some of the others next time, in episode THIRTY SIX of My Hero Academia. Wait for it!

what happens in Vegas;
05:22am | March 2014
Katelynn, still borderline drunk but coming to her senses, sunk down onto her sofa, petite shaky hands gripping onto her heels. Shit—what just happened? What did they do!? Tiny widgets of the night came through in flashes. There was crying on both her and her best friend Jamie’s behalf—over heart breaks and recent losses. Lots of alcohol and atrocious singing (again from both counterparts) followed by a bit of dancing and not-so-scary ghost tales. But then there was—oh dear. There was kissing (oh how she could still feel the soft trail of kisses he had left down her neck causing her stomach to sommersalt). It was all harmful at first. Though quite quickly it led into something more heated, further than their friendship had ever gone. Admittedly something Katelynn had secretly always wanted but not like that. Not under those circumstances. But she hadn’t the will to stop herself and nor did she really want too. The brunette ran her fingers through her tatted locks trudging to the bathroom for a quick shower. How awkward was this gonna be from now on? She could barely concentrate on the burning water prickling her skin. Shit! What if she’s lost her best friend?
After what seemed like a life time of trying to wash away the guilt she managed to pull herself away from the warmth of the water and to her bedroom. She peered at her phone—06:34am. In just under two hours time Katelynn would have to be back at Jamie’s apartment and then endure a long painful car journey to the airport. Ironically this just had to happen the night before their important trip to Vegas for a client. Course—typical! She hoped he hadn’t been offended by her quick getaway whilst he slept. Excuses were hard to come by for Kate but today she had a solid one. She had to pack! And Jamie must know by now that it took Katelynn hours. However... she wouldn’t tell him how her suitcase was already pre-packed and waiting to go by the front door for the past two days. No judging; she just needed some time to clear her brain, wrap her head around what had happened.
07:21am. It wasn’t long before Katelynn was pulling up to Jamie’s apartment. She paid off the taxi driver and lugged her self and her suitcase to the front door. Just breathe Katelynn—it’s fine. He’s your best friend. You’ve got this! Couple more minutes of a useless pep talk to herself and Katelynn was banging on the door, bracing herself with an attempt of her signature smile. “C’mon Jam— we’re gonna be late.”

Chapter 12: (Giving) Thanks
“Yaaaaaaasha!” Nat was yelling as she pounded up the stairs and into the little flat. For someone who was a dancer and supposedly graceful, Nat often sounded like a herd of very small brontosauruses. “Yaaaaaaasha!”
She stopped dead two steps into the living room, scowling. “You’re not Yasha.”
Tony laughed, cynical. “How observant of you, dear sister.”
“You’re not my brother-in-law yet,” Nat said, hands on her hips. “Where’s Yasha?”
Tony flipped the channel on the television. Oh, look, something with a gun fight. Flip. Something with a man forcing a woman into a kiss to shut her up. Flip. More gun fighting. Flip. Tony sighed. It’d be nice to watch some television some time without feeling like he was being personally attacked in high definition. Oh, cooking show. That might be okay.
“He went out to get some take-away,” Tony said.
And Tony was doing his best not to panic about everything. It’d been a bad day for both of them, starting out with a stupid argument about whose turn it was to do the dishes (for the record, it was Bucky’s turn and Tony was feeling both petty and guilty about feeling petty) and then they’d attempted to have some make-up sex that had gone terribly wrong when they discovered someone (Tony that time) had left half a bottle of juice on the bed and it spilled, soaking the comforter and sheets with orange juice. They’d had to put sexy times on hold to wash the linens, and by the time they were done with that, neither of them were in the mood to do more than try to be decent human beings another day.
Logically, Tony knew that Bucky wasn’t going to leave him over stupid fights. Logically, he knew the people on the television weren’t going to shoot him, either. Didn’t help with the stupid brain.
And the more stupid things happened, the snappier and uglier and prone to picking a fight Tony got until Bucky had grabbed his smokes and headed out to get dinner, rather than dealing with Tony and his attitude any longer. Tony wasn’t going to admit that his first reaction to that was “and stay out.”
“Hmph,” Nat said, flouncing into the kitchen. She pulled the vodka bottle out from under the sink. “I hope he brings enough for me. We have a celebration, tonight.”
“Do we?”
“Yes, mister pouty-pout face,” Nat said. She poured two shots and handed him one. “Drink with me.”
(more below the cut, or read the whole thing at A03)
“What are we celebrating?” A little good news might help get Tony and Bucky out of their funk.
“Wait,” Nat said. She knocked back the shot and licked the droplets from the side of her glass. “I will not tell you first. Yasha would be cross with me.”
“We could form a team,” Tony said, a touch bitter. He drank down the vodka she poured for him. “People that your brother is pissed with.”
Nat gave him a sharp look, refilled the shot glasses. “You are arguing?”
Tony shrugged. “It’s not even important, you know. Just…”
“The pain of a dozen blisters,” Nat said.
God, Tony hoped not; he’d seen Nat’s feet after some of her bad rehearsals, nights where the director made them do it again, and again, and again and she would drag herself home, feet bleeding and heels red and raw.
“I’m not that bad,” Tony protested.
“You are not,” Nat agreed. She poured them more shots.
“Just feel… shitty,” Tony admitted. “That I’m pissed at him about stupid shit.”
“Make a gratitude list,” Nat said. “My therapist tells me to do this every day, but that is ridiculous. If I must make a list every night, it becomes work, and I am not grateful for the things I have and love, I resent making the damn list. But sometimes, especially when I am feeling out of sorts, I sit down and make the list.”
“Coffee,” Tony said. That was easy.
“No, no,” Nat said. “We will make a written list.”
“You expect me to write after you dumped four shots of vodka into me?”
Nat’s look was so flat it could have served as a level. “Yes.”
Nat fetched notepads and ridiculously colored gel pens -- Tony’s was brilliant emerald green, hers was eggplant purple -- and an old-fashioned hour glass, the kind that actually had sand in it. Tony hadn’t seen anything like it in… well, maybe even ever, except on television and Nat actually slapped his hand when he tried to inspect it.
“Make your list.”
Nat’s ridiculousness Coffee Waking up before the alarm goes off and being able to go back to sleep Bucky loves me
A small wince there, because Tony hadn’t exactly been loveable recently, but he supposed that was what unconditionally meant. I still love him, even when I’m mad.
loving Bucky Believing both of those things are true The money
Another flinch, because he also felt guilty about the Stark fortune; he hadn’t done anything to earn it except being born to the right parents. And having those same parents die unexpectedly. Because of the fucking money. He resented it even as he was grateful for the comfort it provided, for the fact that he didn’t have to worry. That he could pay Bucky’s hospital bills. All the things that the money could purchase, without consideration for all the things the money was. He made a mental note to get with his accountants and look at the current charity donations. Surely there were things he could do to even the score a little bit.
The ability to make other people’s lives easier
People, yes, he had some people in his life that he was grateful for. Rhodey Pepper Jan Bruce
Tony made a note to call them all and get together for a lunch or dinner or something. He’d been neglecting his friendships. He wasn’t quite sure why, maybe something to do with Jan’s party and not wanting to look at his friends and remember that they’d seen him in the aftermath and fucking resenting that they’d seen him that way. You won’t get past it unless you deal with it.
He was grateful for his mom, much as he missed her.
Mom teaching me to play piano. The times she took me to the ballet.
Maria had loved the ballet; she was thrilled when she found out that Bucky’s sister was a dancer. They’d gone to the Nutcracker every year until Tony went off to college, and even then, she’d asked him every year if he wanted to go. He nursed a small regret that he’d said no last year, too eager to avoid questions about his lack of significant other. On the other hand, that had lead him to grabbing Bucky’s advertisement.
Bucky’s ridiculousness Bucky’s patience Bucky’s terrible bedhead
That had given him a bright spurt, first thing in the morning, on so many days. Bucky’s hair was shoulder length, thick and silky-soft, prone to curling up if it was humid or drizzly, and after sleeping on it, the whole thing had a mind and life of its own. Tony was almost convinced that Bucky’s hair was what lead to tales of the medusa with her crown of snakes.
Bubblewrap
Tony was prone to abusing his Amazon Now account and the last batch of stuff he needed without bothering to get the fuck off the sofa had come wrapped in yards of it. Tony’d put the widget aside without even playing with it, just so he could snap a few dozen air pockets.
Doughnuts. Grapes. Peppermint frappuccinos. Good beer. Bad vodka. Really terrible marshmallow flavored vodka. Cold pizza for breakfast. Bucky’s tomato soup out of a mug when I’m not feeling well.
Cheese.
Cheese whiz.
Stop judging me from across the living room Nat, I can feel the judgement here.
Roller skates.
Bucky’s kisses. Blow jobs. Sleepy morning sex.
There were a lot of other sex things to be grateful for, but he wasn’t sure if he and Nat were going to be exchanging lists, and Nat had made it perfectly clear that while she didn’t care that her brother was having sex, she really didn’t want to hear about it (or hear it) in any great detail.
Metallica. AC/DC. Black Sabbath.
Baby Metal.
Guilty pleasure that, and he was sure there were hundreds of hard-core metal fans that were going to come for his head-banging card for admitting it, but the Japanese jpop/heavy metal group were weirdly… cute, for lack of a better word. Like shiny, sparkly vampires, he couldn’t help but love it, even if people with sense, taste, and dignity thought they were awful.
Tony thought dignity was over-rated anyway.
Bucky’s eyes. The way he looks at me The way he looks at kitten videos The fact that he shares stupid kitten videos with me Because he knows I won’t look at them on my own
Bucky. Bucky Bucky Bucky Bucky.
November was a good time to take a cool down walk.
First, it was cool -- cold, even. Walking angrily while bundled up in sweatshirts and a hoodie and a coat and a scarf, with gloves and hands shoved in your pockets was oddly satisfying.
Sweat formed and dried against Bucky’s throat, keeping him mostly comfortable. His chest ached as he dragged in cold air and expelled it in a puff of steamy condensation. Like being a dragon.
All he needed was claws and the ability to fly away from his problems for a while.
Which just got him feeling weirdly guilty because there were so many people who would commit murder (not funny, brain) to have the kinds of problems that Bucky had. Smokin’ hot boyfriend who was smart, funny, and rich? What was there to complain about?
The fucking dishes and who left their trash around the house?
Like, what even was that?
Of course, Tony’s desire to throw money at problems was a bit annoying. Bucky’d taken the phone away from him at one point in the middle of calling a plumber for a loose flap in the tank that had taken Bucky all of fifteen minutes to fix.
Except Bucky could kinda see Tony’s point.
The kind of money Tony had, the kind he made just existing, it seemed a little silly to waste his time putting in new toilet guts and saving a hundred dollars on a plumber fee. Bucky wasn’t even sure why they still lived in Bucky’s tiny, overcrowded flat. Tony’d never even brought it up, but after seeing where Tony had grown up, it was strange that Tony didn’t seem stifled in his place.
Didn’t really make Bucky feel better about the situation. It was a little easier, back when he was bodyguarding for Tony, but that had gone over like a lead balloon. Epic fail.
Bucky didn’t like feeling useless. It bent back to the times when his father had yelled at him about dreaming his life away. The military had gone and shattered that dreamy boy, left him with a man who needed work to have worth.
It wasn’t fair to take it out on Tony, though. Bucky’s ego problems were his own damn problems. He shouldn’t need Tony to prop up his self-esteem, or worse, trying to make Tony feel small so that Bucky could feel better.
That wasn’t the man he wanted to be.
Of course, he didn’t know who he was. He hadn’t been Sergeant Barnes since an IED had tried to erase half of him from existence.
He’d been a bouncer, a bodyguard. He defined himself by what he did, and now that he wasn’t doing anything, he didn’t know who he was.
Tony, at least, had school, and eventually he’d have a company to run. He had court dates and therapy visits.
Bucky had four walls and an inferiority complex.
Fuck.
What… what the hell did he do now?
“Hey, man,” someone said, and Bucky jerked to a stop. People didn’t usually talk to him, especially when he was walking with his resting bitchface on. “Spare a dollar?”
Bucky blinked, suddenly aware of how cold it was. Looked down at the man sitting in the lee side of a staircase. Hard to tell how thin he was, bundled up in a bunch of discards. His face was covered in a thin beard, but he smiled when Bucky actually made eye contact. It was a harsh sort of smile, the guy had a face like a brick wall.
“Yeah,” Bucky said. He dug into his back pocket for his wallet. He didn’t have anything smaller than a twenty in there. What the hell. Bucky thumbed out three of them. Twisted into a squat. Handed them over.
The guy had a young man’s face but old-man hands, the knuckles swollen and bent, fingers red and peeling.
“Thank you,” he said.
“You’re welcome. I’m Bucky, it’s nice to meet you. Cold out here, today, yeah?”
“Oh, man, yeah,” the man said. “Name’s Frank Castle. An’ it’s one of those days, man. Fallish wind is blowin, and it finds the hole in your pants, blows straight up the crack of your ass, don’t it just?”
Bucky couldn’t help a rueful smile at that, pretty damn good description, really. “When was the last time you had a warm bed?”
Frank shrugged a shoulder. “What, man, you writin’ a book?” Bucky couldn’t imagine how bad things had to be to sit on a street and beg for cash, what people probably said and thought and knowing that no way in hell it was ever going to be enough. Little booze to cut the chill, let you forget about that empty feeling in your stomach.
“No,” Bucky said, honestly, “just… come into some money recently and I want to help.”
Frank gave him a sharp glance. “Havin’ a crisis of conscience man, wanna pay back karma by doing a good deed. Fuck off, dude.”
“The room’s no less warm if I’m getting feelgood points out of it,” Bucky pointed out. His father had never held any traction with beggars and homeless before. Bucky’d given a dollar to a wino one day and his dad had yelled at him about it. You feed a homeless guy, give him shelter, and what happens? Well, you just have to feed him again tomorrow. You got extra money, put it someplace where it’ll do some good, kiddo.
Frank tipped his head. “Yeah, truth.”
“Come on, then,” Bucky said, offering a hand up. “I’ll buy you dinner and get you a room for the night.”
“I ain’t gonna blow you,” Frank said, scowling.
“I’m not asking,” Bucky said. He shuddered inwardly. What a fucking world this was, that even something as simple as giving a hungry guy some food was suspicious.
Frank scorned the offered hand up and scrambled to his feet.
“Christ, you’re a big guy.”
“Don’t you forget it, neither,” Frank said. “Street people go missin’ all the time. I ain’t gonna be one of ‘em.”
Bucky nodded. He pulled out his phone, popped off a brief text to Tony to let him know he’d be a bit later than expected. Checked the map to see what food was nearby.
Chinese take-away acquired and it wasn’t too far for a Day’s Inn. He got a room for two days while Frank lurked under the staircase, aware that any hotel check-in manager wasn’t going to want a streeter in their room. Bucky cringed a bit; he knew what Frank must be thinking, must be worried about. How easy it would be for someone like Bucky to make someone like Frank vanish.
“So, what now?” Frank asked, arms crossed over his chest.
Bucky put his load of food down on the tiny table near the television. “Now nothing. You can eat. Have a shower. Get a few night’s sleep. Here’s my cell number. You can call me if you want.”
“You just doing your good deed, and poof, vanishing?”
“I ain’t gotten that far in my head yet, pal,” Bucky admitted.
“Well, whoever you killed that you need this much redemption, I hope he was an asshole,” Frank said.
“Take care of yourself, Frank,” Bucky said.
Frank was already deep in a paper container of Kung Pao chicken. “Thanksgiving came early, got it.” He gave Bucky a thumbs up and turned his attention back to more important things. Like food.
Tony wasn’t always as good with people as he thought he should be. Genius, right? He should be able to figure things out, except the one thing that he had figured out was that people didn’t make sense. They weren’t like circuits that traveled from A to B to C neatly, and they weren’t like science, where doing the exact same thing got you the exact same results.
“Biology,” one of his teachers had stressed, “is not chemistry.”
A biological system could mutate. Could randomize. Could end up being purple for absolutely no reason whatsoever, and sometimes you could track that reason down, and sometimes you just had to throw up your hands and say “magic.”
People were huge biological systems. Not just the meat and bones parts, either. He’d taken a few classes on human bio, just to round out his education a little, and just the basic studies of pharmaceutical science made his head hurt. Nothing in pharma made sense at all. Theory, where everything worked, except medication, where none of it did what it was supposed to and things that did were nonsense and should not have done that at all.
But even Tony could tell that Bucky was in a vastly improved state of mind by the time he got home. He hugged and kissed his sister and then hugged and kissed Tony with a little more heat. Apologized for the take-away being cold and needing to be microwaved, and Tony might have raised his eyebrows a little when he realized that Bucky had walked all the way to Genghis Connie’s rather than grabbing the slightly less expensive and much, much closer (if not as good, Genghis Connie’s made the best egg rolls!) No1. China.
“Well, this explains where you’ve been,” Tony said, taking his chicken and cashew out of the microwave. He was reminded, stuffing a mouthful of saucy chicken into his mouth, that Bucky paid attention. When he’d stormed out to get dinner, which was code for I need to not throw something at you right now, he hadn’t taken an order, or gotten Tony’s opinion on what to eat. But Bucky knew… he knew Tony’s preferences, had remembered them. Sure, Tony sometimes liked to wander off the beaten path and get something else -- particularly at No1, which did not do very good eggrolls, and he usually got the crab wonton there instead -- but he’d commented aside once that Connie’s did the best chicken cashew.
And after a fight, where they’d yelled at each other and gotten exasperated and had to stomp off to sulk like recalcitrant toddlers for fuck’s sake… Bucky had remembered. Had, as the phrase went, gone the extra mile (quite literally) for one of Tony’s favorites.
Tony was honest enough with himself to know that if he hadn’t been doing gratitude exercises with Nat, he might not have fucking noticed.
Bucky warmed up hot and sour soup for himself, handed his sister a packet of crunchies for her egg drop. “Yeah, I was thinking. Sorry it took me so long.” He gave Tony a long, significant look. “I’ll tell you about it later.”
Which was code for I don’t want to talk in front of my sister. Which was understandable. Having an audience for those kind of conversations was awkward at best. Tony stuffed another mouthful of chicken into his face and sat on his mental hands to keep from dragging Bucky off to their bedroom and demand to talk now.
“So,” Nat said, running her spoon up her chin to catch bits of spillover soup. “If you do not want to talk, I will talk. I have news.”
Oh, right. She’d come home with good news, she’d said. “Spill, Nat,” Tony encouraged. “I’ve waited long enough.”
Nat put her food down, finished chewing, and wiped her lips with her fingers.
“I am going to be Clara,” she said. “Dottie Underwood’s pregnant.”
Nat had been Vivandière at first, one of the doll-toys, and also a snowflake, and a Marzipan dancer, but she’d been understudy to the lead-dancer’s role, the child Clara, to whom the Nutcracker Prince was given. Dottie, who was lead, had been prima donna for a long time. Nat had barely been even looking at the role, because no one expected anything to happen to Dottie.
Bucky practically knocked over his food getting up to hug his sister. “Oh, Tash, that’s… that’s a leading role! That’s great!”
“It is… a great opportunity,” Nat said. “She is pregnant with the producer’s child. There have been rumors that she will not be coming back after the baby. We shall see about that, but in the meanwhile, I have this role. And if I perform with excellence, I may be prima dona for the spring show as well. But I must practice, all the time, now. There will be no second chances.”
“Anything we can do to make it easier,” Bucky promised.
“Yeah, congrats,” Tony said, and he joined them in the group hug, happy for his little family. Happy for his to-be sister.
Just… happy.
Grateful.

Cyberchimps $47

Cyberchimps Theme Club is one of the cheapest at $47, which includes a total of 37 themes & plugins. These guys offer a theme bundle which is really an excellent choice for a tight budget.
These guys are real bang for buck and offer some sharp looking themes in their package.
The themes look good, clean and neat and seem perfect for mostly corporate and business websites – with a few extras thrown in like photography, fitness and even a tattoo artist theme.
Overall it’s not bad, some high quality themes for a decent price in their Theme bundle.
What to expect:
$97 for 37 Themes – $2.62 per theme
Price also includes access to plugins & Portfolio Widgets
Open Licensee available ($97 pack) – use on your websites and on your clients’ websites.
Check out Cyberchimps
Can’t find what you need? Here’s an alternative…
Elegant Themes
Elegant Themes used to top this list list with almost 90 themes!
This was pure ‘bang for your buck’ value for anyone running a WordPress website… You’d pay less than a dollar per theme and use it on all of your websites, or even on your client’s websites.
But they took all of their themes down except for two – Divi and Extra. Both highly customizable themes but here’s the thing…
You have a tonne of layouts you can import, so it’s like having access to a pack of themes.
Here’s what you can expect:
Divi & Extra Theme
A TONNE of predesigned and editable layouts
Open License – use on your websites and on your clients’ websites.
The Divi Theme is a highly Customizable Theme that comes with the package. If you want to create extremely slick websites with modern designs and sleek animations and features, Divi is one of the most attractive themes out there, and it’s easy to use. You can check out more information on it here.
Elegant Themes is my personal favourite theme.
The variety of layouts available makes it easy to simply pick one out of the list and add your customizations to make it your own.
Check out Elegant Themes
Still not satisfied?
You may need to consider options a little more specific and grab a customizable theme or pagebuilder.
The reason I recommend something like this instead of a WordPress Theme bundle is the fact that most of these have a tonne of downloadable layouts that in essence, can serve the main purpose of a theme (the layout).
I’m willing to bet that any of these packages (leaning toward those at the top of the list) will satisfy most people. With some added, personalized imagery and a logo, your website/blog could be rocking a pretty sharp design for hardly any effort.
If this helped you get over the line and update your design or you simply found it interesting, please share this article or subscribe! Thanks for reading :)

Chunky Top Knot
A tight knot bun is a great way to highlight your face features. The slightly messy texture of the bun just makes it look stylish and new. To pull off this look you can use larger bobby pins as the smaller ones tend to move around. a lot. You can complete your look by putting some spray on your hair. Women with long hair have the better option to play around with the look – it can be either tight or loose or high or low. On casual days, a chunky top knot will look effortlessly sexy. This is one of the best hairstyles that you can do without any hairstylist and if you want to show off your sexy collarbone this is the best option for you. Now that the weather is pretty hot here, beating the heat can be easy by lifting all that hair away from your skin!
For all hair types Luminous hairspray is strong yet formulated with Argon Oil. This workable and lightweight hairspray offers a long lasting and flexible hold to your top knot bun. It will always give your hair a fine look. Hair tips for hairspray: don’t use such products in your day to day life, they should be used in a limit.
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = '//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1501134353612?cb=' + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === 'object'){ if(doc.readyState === 'complete'){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, 'script', 'shopsensewidget-script');
Tousled Pixie
Women with natural good texture in their hair can sport a pixie cut hairstyle and this should definitely be your go to look if you love and have short hair. The longer layers enhance the waves so the style feels effortless. Simply just lift up your hair with your fingers as you blow dry it. Smooth out your bangs with a flat brush and then you can apply a dab of paste through your hair for a hold and definition and you are ready to go. This haircut is timeless as well as stylish.
Create that extra lift from your roots with Shu Uemura art of hair shape paste. It is neither creamy or sticky and it offers leaves your hair with a subtle shine.
Shape Paste is one of the most powerful design tools, that helps to protect your hair from heat and humidity.
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = '//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1501134353612?cb=' + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === 'object'){ if(doc.readyState === 'complete'){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, 'script', 'shopsensewidget-script');
70`S HALF UP-DO
The internet is full of these gorgeous 70`s up-do tutorials which are feasible for every hair type. The strict, smooth center part is the key to this retro-inspired look. Pull your hair back on either side of the head but before you secure it with crisscross bobby pins on the back of the head make sure to cover your ears properly.
Twisted Bun
This hairstyle is chic and elegant for any time of the day. Twisted hair buns are just perfect and go well with almost every outfit. All you have to do is roll back the strands along with your hairline just like you do with a simple braid and then wrap these two twists into a bun and secure it with some bobby pins. This style isn’t meant to look spic and span so don’t worry about it looking a little messy. It can very well save a super bad hair day.
FRENCH BRAIDS
Our favourite braid has to be the french braid and amongst all of them it looks the prettiest. This hairstyle is considered a timely classic and is picture perfect for every type of occasion. From relaxed days to classy evenings french braids will compliment every outfit. Nothing will up your weekend hair game like a chic french braid.
To add some extra strength to your hair to give your braid the strength to stay in place all day, we suggest using Klorane Dry Shampoo with nettle oil control before braiding it. This will add extra grip and hold your hair well. Klorane offers a wide variety of plant-based shampoo options designed to address every kind of hair type from mango butter for dry hair to nettle for oily hair.
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = '//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1501134353612?cb=' + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === 'object'){ if(doc.readyState === 'complete'){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, 'script', 'shopsensewidget-script');
<br />
SWINGY BOB
That moment when you feel like making a big change with your hair, the first cut that comes to mind is always one that is completely opposite to your current hair. For girls with long hair this usually means they do give a thought if chopping off their hair into a stylish bob, whether they go ahead with it or not that depends on how confident they feel in that moment. There is nothing more different than this hair cut though especially if you have never had anything like it. A swingy bob is just a stylish bob cut that adds some shape to your face and gives you a very fashionable look. Some hair tips for people thinking of getting this cut would be to try and keep your hair straight with this style as that is when you can really see the shape of it. If your hair is straight it will also make them feel very light and help you stay cool and fresh for humid days.
To get an effortlessly chic hairstyle we suggest you to try OUAI wave spray and Christopher Robin instant voluminous mist to give an extra volume to your hair. It makes your hair fuller and thicker.
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = '//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1501134353612?cb=' + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === 'object'){ if(doc.readyState === 'complete'){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, 'script', 'shopsensewidget-script');
WAVY BOB
Wavy hair give off a very soft and feminine look to a person, and wavy texture and medium length hair seem to be a favorite amongst many right now. This hairstyle works great for your everyday look and gives you an edge on a special occasion. The main point is that the hair is supposed to look a bit messy—so don’t expect to spend hours with the curling iron. Instead, sleep with two braids and tame the waves with texturizing spray and one sweep of the flat iron.
Elevate your natural curl pattern with texturising R+Co’s Cactus Shampoo and leave it for air dry. This shampoo is formulated with texture building particles to bring out your natural waves. It’s designed with a mix of “texture-building particles” along with an ingredient which adds grip.
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = '//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1501134353612?cb=' + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === 'object'){ if(doc.readyState === 'complete'){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, 'script', 'shopsensewidget-script');
Pulled-Back Curls
The best part about this look is that it’s the perfect way to flaunt your personality. You just can’t go wrong with this hairstyle even on a bad hair day. Just pin some of your curls from the front to the back of your head and you’re free to roam around with beautiful hair that won’t come in your way.
If you are working with your natural texture then your curls need some hydration. Keep your hair hydrated and well defined with a mist like Dry Bar’s hair- spray which is firm with a long-lasting finish.
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = '//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1501134353612?cb=' + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === 'object'){ if(doc.readyState === 'complete'){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, 'script', 'shopsensewidget-script');
Super-Slick
The super slick hairstyle definitely made a a major comeback last year, we some them on almost every red carpet event, on runway models and a huge number of celebrities. Bella Hadid’s slick back hair became quite famous during that time! We know messy and tousled hair are certainly trending but it also seems that Super-Slick hairstyle is not going anywhere. It is the easiest way to hide your locks that won’t cooperate whenever you are in a hurry. The trick is to make your hair look wet while actually, it’s not wet. Use a palmful of mousse and strong hold gel to get this look.
We suggest you to use LIVING PROOF FULL THICKENING MOUSSE as it has a flexible hold for all hair types especially for flat hair. It makes fine hair look and feel thicker and helps in providing light hold.
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = '//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1501134353612?cb=' + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === 'object'){ if(doc.readyState === 'complete'){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, 'script', 'shopsensewidget-script');
Looped Ponytail
This style is a mix between a bun and a ponytail, it’s a loop. Loops are new and they are totally trendy but we have been seeing them for several seasons now. This is the best upgrade to your average ponytail. Knot and pin the length of the tail into the series of loop and then tie it up with a clear elastic.
Messy High Ponytail
Another alternative to your regular ponytail is this messy one. This look can suit all face types, lengths and textures. It’s great that you can create this look with your long or short hair. Simply spoof all your hair with or without a comb and put it high up into a ponytail. Bind it with an elastic and take few strands at the hairline out to complete the look. By doing a high messy ponytail you don’t have to waste your time in hair-styling. One of the best hair tips we can give is that if your in a rush and want it to look like you have spent some time doing your hair then you should go for this style.
Romantic Bun
The perfect look for the evening or a hot summer day when you are wearing a pretty day dress. This bun is a very romantic bun and a super feminine, give this look a try this season and trust us you will feel like a princess. This look is very easy to pull off as you just have to pull all your wavy hair into a bun and leave those few loose strands in the front for a slender effect.
The Ballerina Bun
Another bun look but this one is famous amongst ballerinas. It might look easy to make but it’s not, to get the bun in the right place in the right way it might take you a couple of tries. A bun looks polished and cool no matter what the weather is. You can go for this look anytime of the year and looks absolutely beautiful with an evening gown.
To keep your strands looking shiny, style it with a PANTENE PRO-V strong hair gel as it helps to control your frizzy hair.
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = '//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1501134353612?cb=' + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === 'object'){ if(doc.readyState === 'complete'){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, 'script', 'shopsensewidget-script');
Bouncy Blowout
There are certain tricks and hair tips every woman should know about their hair and how to handle them in the best way. The ability to turn any bad hair day into a style moment is one of them. Big bouncy and effortless hair is the total look for the moment. The key to a bouncy blowout is the wavy ends so spend some time with your hair dryer and brush on the ends because once they stick out perfectly it will help you look amazing throughout the day.
Apply a root boosting spray such as RED-KEN TRIPLE TAKE 32 EXTREME HIGH-HOLD HAIRSPRAY beneath the top layers of your hair which is suitable for all hair types. It gives hair roots volume and provides a natural feel and texture. It also has a long lasting high hold.
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = '//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1501134353612?cb=' + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === 'object'){ if(doc.readyState === 'complete'){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, 'script', 'shopsensewidget-script');
Half Bun, Half Ponytail
This is something very different, for a lot of us, we might do this hairstyle several times during the day while you need a break from your hair being open or when your just chilling at home. We bet you that no one really thinks of it as an actual hairstyle to walk out with, but it is now! This means you should always stay comfortable and if you are doing this while you are at home then just walk out with it and stay comfortable all day long. We understand the struggle of styling the hair every morning. So coming up with a new and a funky hairstyle every single day is impossible. All you need to do is pull your ponytail through the elastic twice, then the third time pass your ponytail halfway through the elastic to achieve this look.
The Low Bun
We know everyone loves a good low bun as it’s quick, easy and makes our hair look tip-top. This hairstyle goes well with every kind of an outfit. For this you need to make a low ponytail at the nape of your neck and once you have tied the ponytail just twist it around the base to make a smooth low bun. And there you go, you have a super smart look.
Top Knot A Braided Twist
The best combination of a braid and a bun, it looks like you have spent a lot of time on it but it doesn’t actually take so long. The hairstyle looks complicated which is the best part as in just minutes you upgrade your regular braid and regular bun. You can have multiple different looks with this hairstyle ad you can play around with the type of braid you want as well as the finish of the bun can be changed around a lot.
To make a braided top knot just make a high ponytail and divide your pony into two sections while braiding each pony. Twist these braids at the base and one by one secure these braids with bobby pins to achieve this braided updo.
High Braid
Just like how the bun and braid were combined now you can also try putting together your ponytail with a braid. Braided ponytails will also work for every occasion. Tie your hair into a high ponytail, braid loosely and secure it with an elastic. If you have very heavy and thick hair then the best hair tips for you would be to go for this hairstyle. When you tie the ponytail it will still have a lot of volume and turning it into a braid reduces the volume and this also creates a beautiful big braid.
Hair Coloring Techniques For Every Hair Type
Hair color is directly linked to your identity and personality. If you change it, it’s very visible and you could like a completely different person. Obviously, it depends on how much of your hair you are getting colored, in which color and in what style. There are also several reasons why one may want to change their hair color. The reasons can range from wanting a new look to being bored with your natural color to wanting to cover your gray hair. We talked all about hairstyles above and how changing it around gives you new looks everyday, now imagining changing your hair color and then trying those styles. Hair color is also a great way to add textures to your hair, for example highlighting makes the hair look more voluminous as the texture gives a delusion of more hair. You might not be aware of the several hair color styling techniques that exist such as Ombre, Balayage, Global and many more.
Below we have listed the best hair tips of coloring your hair along with the different styling techniques that exist. Look at the references carefully to get a good idea of how the color would look and then make your decision based on the look you want to achieve.
Highlights
Highlights are the strands of the hair which are usually lighter than that of the base color on which they are being layered upon. People often think highlights is equal to blonde but that really isn’t the case. Highlights are actually a color that is not as dark as the base strands. Highlights don’t look exactly the same, they differ from person to person and it actually depends on a number of things like the look you want, the kind of hair you have or how light you wish to go. The size of the highlights, the level of lightness, and the placement would all be decided with you and your hair stylist. There are also several different types of highlights, keep reading below to know more.
Natural Thin Highlights
In this type of the highlights, the fine strips of hair are highlighted. This type of hair highlights is suitable for fine hair or hair that creates a natural effect. This kind of highlights are done by dying thin strips of hair near the front section and the color used is usually just a shade or two darker to get the perfect natural kind of look. People will tell you a list of hair tips for your highlighted hair but you don’t really need to do so much, just use a good shampoo.
Chunky Highlights
Chunky highlights are more suitable for thick hair or when the texture of the hair is coarse. In this, the highlights, streaks or bold section of your hair can be up to an inch and are highlighted with couple of shades lighter than the base color. This technique can be done in a creative way and done according to the shape of your face. Some people prefer to keep the color more natural, with very little contrast to their natural color, and others want a bolder look, with brightly colored or richly contrasting highlights. Adding chunky highlights to your hair can create a dramatic look that can compliment a new haircut or style very well.
Peek A Boo Highlights
Peek-a-boo, a new highlighting method that offers more than what people expect to see. Peek A Boo Highlights are best for people who wish for a subtle change and nothing too obvious or dramatic. There are no limits when it comes to styling with peek-a-boo because if you have dark hair then the highlight color you would choose would also be in a dark shade in order to just get that tint. This means colors like, dark blue, purple, green etc. Most of the thin strands are hidden under the hair but are shown through the mid length of the hair around the shoulders. If you are looking for something bright then you can also try neon hues for that extra pop of color. There isn’t any need for additional, expensive shampoos or periodic treatments. Using a hair conditioner at home just once a week is enough. This is one of the finest hair tips for your highlights.
Textured Highlights
The whole point behind textured highlights is to make your hair look fuller and add volume to it. Usually, at least 3 colors are used to achieve this look. The primary idea behind the textured highlights is to make the hair look fuller. Textured highlights are usually done with at least 3 colors. One of the best hair tips we can give you if you want to get this kind of highlights done would be to get a layered haircut first. By doing this it will help accentuate the volume of the hair and all the shades look beautiful like this. Go on and get your hair textured and have a fabulous look.
Foils
Foil highlights involve the sectioning of hair and weaving strands which can either be thick or thin depending on the look that you are going for. The target strands are painted with bleach or any color and are wrapped in pieces of foil. Wrapping the hair in foil serves two purposes, one it keeps the lightening agent from getting on the surrounding hair and two it keeps your hair moist so it doesn’t dry up.
Ombré
The Ombré hair coloring technique is where your hair gradually blends from one color to another color. Ombré comes from the French word which means “shadow” or “shade.” The choice of an Ombré would usually involve colors t shades lighter than your hair. The choice of colors for Ombré is determined by your skin undertone or by your natural hair color hue. However it is not necessary to stick to the shades of your hair, if you have black hair you can even get an Ombré look by using brown and blonde. Last year grey ombré hair was a super hot trend and it is still going strong even now. Check it out here.
Balayage
The word Balayage means to “sweep” in French. So the hair color is literally painted or is swept onto the sections of your hair to give highlights that are few shades lighter than your natural hair color. Although the highlights are not placed symmetrically, the final look is very flattering as the highlights turn out to be softer and look very natural.
GLOBAL
Now finally to the last style and the most obvious and common one, Global hair color. This means to color your hair entirely! The overall color will add life to your hair and leave a glossy finish to it which will make it look super healthy and gorgeous. Global hair color is the best option for someone who doesn’t want anything extra going on and is also looking for a change. Trust us if you change the color of your entire head thats a big enough change as well.
Haircuts For Every Face Type
We all know how a perfect haircut is important for us and as discussed before it can change our whole personality. But before getting a haircut done, it is important for you to determine your face shape so you know what works the best for you. This way you won’t regret chopping off your hair after your haircut, understand what you getting yourself into first. It is not a big challenge to find out what the shape of your face is and many of us make it out in seconds. Just look at yourself in the mirror and you will get a good idea of your face type. If you have an oval face then the widths of your brow, cheekbones, and jaws are almost equal and for a round face type the jaws are curving at the corners and you have a long and a wide forehead. Girls with a heart shaped face tend to have wide forehead and narrow chin and if you have a square face shape then you have a narrow jaw and the length and width of your face are equal. No matter what your face shape is there are haircuts that look best on you and there are few that aren’t so flattering.
So here we are providing you with a list of hairstyles and hair tips that are suitable for every face shape.
Round Face
If you have short hair and a round face then think of going short all the way. This little pixie downplays roundness in a big way. The choppy pieces add heights and help to lengthen your face to accentuate your eyes more. You can even try curls around the crown to create some height but never near the cheeks.
Thin and medium length hair is one of the most common hair types found. There are so many different hairstyles you can explore no matter on much you wish you had thicker hair. If you have a round face and medium hair length, a skimming bob cut with slender pieces around the neck will work perfectly for you. So just go a few inches longer than your chin in order to balance the roundness of your face.
If you have long hair and have plenty of layers in your cut it is one of the simplest hairstyles to have and it looks fantastic too. If you are lucky to have long hair yet you feel unsure about how to style it, layers will work just right for your jawline. These layers are an easy choice for your face type and they will help to stop the curls from blimping around your cheeks. The scattered layers will also help to keep the volume away from the sides and will focus more on the ends.
Heart Shaped Face
Since a heart-shaped face is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, a wavy or curly hairstyle will beautifully balance the facial features. A bob is the best option for a heart shaped face because it balances off the facial shape. A haircut that is heavy around the chin is perfect for creating some balance. Chin-length bobs would be a preferred option for you, just make sure the ends are a bit tapered. Side-swept bangs are also beautiful on this face shape.
If you have medium hair length, opt for longer layers to keep your look balanced. You should avoid face-framing layers and bands to the widest point on the face. This will draw the eyes away from the chin area along with adding balance to your face.
As we said bangs look georgeous on this face shape and this haircut is very easy to pull off. The full bangs will offset your flashy jaw and gently taper the layers to prevent them from falling flat. While they may be full, the fringe is soft with movement rather than blunt.
Long/Oval Face
An angular bob cut with short and chin hugging layers go well with an oval face. This haircut is compelling as it emphasises more on your face shape while the side parting lifts up the choppy layers. If you have stick-straight hair that’s also thin, this is a great hairstyle for you. What makes this work: It’s sleek, sophisticated and short.
A sleek blowout with layers that hit the shoulders works best for the medium length hair. The subtle variations in length keep those locks away from lying flat against your head. Keep those uneven layers around your face so your hair looks full. If you want long hair, cut it in long layers. The shortest layer should hit at your chin.
Technically you shouldn’t have really long hair if you have a long/over face however, if you like long hair then add in long layers and bangs to downplay a large forehead. The bangs really help visually shorten the length of the face. Long hair on a long face is tricky though!
Square Face
A short layered bob cut with slight bangs will help you to put emphasis on your cheekbones, rather than that of your jaw. If you have bangs make sure the outside corners of your fringe is about an inch longer than the centre of the bangs. This creates a framing effect and moves the attention away from your wide face.
For someone with medium length hair, feathery layers with subtle bangs work best for your face type. Layers that turn inward help from the face and the layers cut the broadness of the jawline and wide cheekbones.
Edgeless layers with strands that hit right at your cheekbone goes well for your strong and long hair. These airy fringes and light scattering of layers will help to soften your entire face from top to bottom.

Winter Signature Cocktail Ideas If you love these Winter Signature Cocktail Ideas, be sure to Yum them here: Yum This post is written by Pete. For all his posts, check out this link. Having your wedding this winter? Hopefully you live in a climate that does not have a winter season. If you don't, you probably won't have a lot of people traveling to your wedding. Winter weddings are a subtle way of saying, "I really don't want to pay for too many people" without actually having to say it. Lemme guess: you're probably having your wedding on a Friday or Sunday too? What better way to beat the chill (and aggravation) of going to a winter wedding than with a menu of delicious winter cocktails? Sooner than you can say, "Dammit, my leather shoes are ruined from stepping in a pile of slush and road salt" you'll be rosy-cheeked and buzzed as you savor some of winter's classic flavors. If you recall, I wrote a post similar to this one that discussed the value of having a creative menu of fall signature cocktail ideas for autumn weddings. Well bust out the peppermint vodka because today I’m going to do the exact same thing, but for winter signature cocktail ideas. Winter Signature Cocktail Ideas Candy Cane Martini (from My Recipes) When deciding on a winter signature cocktail menu, it would be a good idea to consider the proximity of your wedding to Christmas. If it's close enough to (but not after) Christmas, you can include holiday-themed cocktails in your menu. Not to say that there aren't enough cold weather winter warmers out there, but being able to include something like a candy cane martini would be delightfully festive. 1.25 ounces vanilla vodka 1.25 ounces white crème de cacao .75 ounce peppermint schnapps in an ice-filled cocktail shaker, shake vigorously, and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with peppermint candy and BANG! Christmas in a glass. Add the liquids to an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a candy-cane rimmed martini glass. Garnish with a mini candy cane. Spiced Apple Cider I don't know about you, but when I think of the New York winters I was subjected to for so many years, one of the first things that pops into my head (besides moving) is, "Warm cider would be great right now!" What would be even better is if that warm cider had some sort of alcohol and spices to turn it into spiced apple cider. Half gallon apple cider 1 ounce spiced run 1 tablespoon honey 1/8 tablespoon nutmeg 1/4 tablespoon ground cinnamon 1/4 tablespoon lemon juice Bring the cider and spices to a boil. Dissolve the honey. Pour into a mug. Serve. For convenience you can even make a big batch, and keep it warm in an electric coffee pot. Hot Buttered Rum (from Esquire) What discussion of winter cocktails would be complete without mentioning the age-old classic staple of all winter libations: hot buttered rum? To round out the list of what I believe are classic winter cocktail flavors, I leave you with the following simple and boozily delicious recipe. 2 sugar cubes 2 ounces dark rum Pat of unsalted butter Hot water Drop the sugar cubes in a mug of hot water. Add the rum and butter. Fill the rest of the mug with hot water. Finishing replaying Dual Destinies and getting some amazing art from diloolie inspired me to finally make an Athena mix! I may have gotten...a bit carried away. Can u believe I was worried about not finding enough songs...ANYWAY. Even if you don’t know Ace Attorney, this makes for a great kick-butt mix to get you motivated (save for a couple subdued sad songs at the beginning). It’s a mix that pretty much screams “LET’S DO THIS!” as Athena would say.
Lyrics, annotations and translations under the cut!
Athena- PRETTY SELF EXPLANATORY. I was so pumped to discover this song at the last minute. I was actually alerted to it thanks to a sweet Athena amv that came up in my youtube suggestions- check it.
The moment is right/So don't wait/Get ready to fight/When I say/Break free of the chains/That hold you back/React. And plan your attack
Brace yourself and run into the battlefield/Move on/Don't falter/Plan your pursuit/And charge on and head on I will be your shield /Go on/Release the goddess inside you In every star/In every moon /In every vena/There lives Athena
They Know My Name- a song for Athena’s trauma and PTSD. It also fits for how she can get overwhelmed hearing everyone’s emotions.
Her panic attacks being highly visible- can also refer to how Widget tends to recite her thoughts:
All of my noise in the air/My thoughts can be seen from everywhere
Panic attacks, PTSD:
These wars that I fight from within/I don't know where they end and I begin I try/ I try to calm them down/But these thoughts they keep spinning/Round and round, round and round/These monsters are hiding within my brain/They roar and they shout and they know my name
Goodnight Little Robot Child- Young Athena, living in the space center among robots, unable to tell the difference between them and humans
Goodnight little robot child/Close your eyes go to sleep tight/ little robot child/Starmans waiting for/You've been running around with your robot friends/And your battery's feeling so low
Little Me- Athena looking back on her younger self. "I was a shaking and scared little girl, small and ineffectual.... Even after I went to live with my relatives in Europe, I stayed closed up in my shell. “
Voice so quiet you don't hear a word/Always talking but she can't be heard/You can see it there if you catch her eye/I know she's brave but it's trapped inside/Scared to talk but she don't know why
Wish I knew back then/What I know now/Wish I could somehow Go back in time and maybe listen to my own advice/I'd tell her to speak up, tell her to shout out/Talk a bit louder, be a bit prouder
Yellow Halo- Athena dealing with the death of her mother. I consider this to be from Metis’s POV in a way. This song is actually about dealing with the loss of a mother, so it fits really well.
Metis dying:
I rose to the moon, Wearing all white
Metis wears a “yellow halo” now, and those colors are passed on to Athena Athena wears yellow, shining brightly and kindly:
Yellow halo/all your colors/yellow halo/for a queen/yellow halo/bequeathed
Metis lives on through Athena, who carries on her legacy, wearing the moon earring her mother made for her and bringing hope to everyone:
Seasons change/the moon’s still here/dawn breaks endlessly
Hope on Fire: Athena making her vow to be heard and to save Simon, no matter what the cost (yes i know i use this song a lot in mixes, IT’S A GREAT SONG OKAY) “That’s because one day, I came to realize that I had to fight. I couldn’t give up"
gotta fight gotta strike/'cause there's no turning away/from what you don't want to know/
ooh you're gonna make your mark this time/ooh you're gonna set your hope on fire/gotta leave gotta bleed/you've gotta stop lying still/'cause this is no kind of life
we're coming closer now to the truth
Akatsuki no Hana: "I couldn’t give up. I exercised hard and I studied hard. I wanted to become the strongest lawyer I could be.”
I’ll tear the doubt out of my mind/because with the strength inside me/I’ll leave the girl I was behind
Breaking through to the sky with the strength to survive/feel the dawn break through toy your heart/Chasing the skies, I’ll find a brighter day/Tear through the lies/I’m who I wanna be/you won’t take my courage away
Bravado: “What was Athena like as a child? ”She didn’t talk very much” “That’s completely different from the Athena we know now!” "I was so surprised! She was like a completely different person, so cheerful and happy!”
All my life, I've been fighting a war/I can't talk to you or your friends/It's not only you/My heart jumps around when I'm alluded to/This will not do
But when you're withdrawn, it's the closest thing to assault when all eyes are on you/This will not do/I'm faking glory/Lick my lips, toss my hair/And turn the smile on/And the story's brand new/But I can take it from here/I'll find my own bravado
Me Against the World- Athena refusing to give up on Simon even as he’s all obstinate and ready to change the courtroom
okay, with this line how could I resist:
Simon says to pack it up
Even the LA references work if you consider Japanifornia (though honestly I can never think of AA as actually taking place in LA...just a weird alternate Japan where everyone has english names. BUT I DIGRESS)
They said don't try to change the world/You're just a girl/So it's me against the world today/I'm gonna do it my own way/And though nobody understands/I'm gonna make a one girl stand
Give a Reason- full translation here. Lyrics also in the playmoss vid. Very fitting for Athena, who charges ahead and looks for answers
There's an "answer" somewhere for sure /The answer for why we were born/.../I'm not afraid of getting hurt!/But I'm not strong in any way for feeling that /Simply, I just can’t do nothing/I don't wanna be regretting myself! /Here we go! go! I'll keep running /I won't be stopped by anybody!
Dakara: My Hero Academia and Athena go together so well.
“I didn’t have anybody to support me at first, either. I couldn’t face the fear inside me, couldn’t get over the trauma of my past. “
“ It sure feels nice to be part of a great group like this! I just want to say I really love working here with all you fabulous people!”
How come I am the only one to always face a hurricane?/Back then I used to think it all so meaningless (was so alone)/But everything began to change
Again we’re crying but trying/To prove we can overcome it/I know that we’ll rise above it each and every time/(Everything will be fine!)/I’ll reach for your hand,Yeah, my friend,You are not alone this time
One Girl Revolution- The courtroom Revolutionaire! “Let’s revolutionize this stodgy institution!”
And I'll be everything that I want to be/I am confidence in insecurity/I am a voice yet waiting to be heard/I'll shoot the shot /Bang/That you hear round the world/And I'm a one girl revolution
See Me Now- “ Then that’s a win for me– No, a win for analytical psychology! “
That I've been hesitating so long, so long/Somebody turn out the light./Cause right now must be my time to shine/They said I couldn't, they told me that I wouldn't/But if they could see me now/They'd see I'm something, that I'm not scared of nothing/And the world will hear me shout
Odd Future
You love the contradiction shaking you/even when you fall take one step/you can breath again in one step/.../shaking off the rust in your soul/gotta rise from a dark history/.../but today I opened up my eyes and I feel alive
Everything at Once- In the DLC, Athena said she wanted to be strong enough to fight a whale, and suddenly I realized this was perfect for her. She dreams big and wants to be everything and I love her.
As pretty as a picture hanging from a fixture/Strong like a family, strong as I wanna be/Bright as day, as light as play/As hard as nails, as grand as a whale/All I wanna be, all I wanna be, oh/All I wanna be is everything
The Prayer- “Why do you turn everything into a competition?” Athena’s go getter competitiveness is everything.
Let me outshine the moon/Is it so wrong to crave recognition?/Second best, runner-up/Is it so wrong to want rewarding?/To want more than is given to you?
Tonight make me unstoppable/And I will charm, I will slice/I will dazzle them with my wit
Peace sign- “She flashed a peace sign at me. “Congratulations on your acquittal,” she said. [...]But I saw her eyes. They were red and swollen from crying. She’s gotta be suffering! She must be so worried! And yet she went out of her way to be nice and give me that big smile!”
Although your eyes are red, you’ll never cry again/ no I’ll be the smile that you need and I won’t go/Theme to be a hero, just remember to sing/Say goodbye and I’ll leave with a peace sign
Voice of the heart- “Let me hear the voice of you heart!”
If you listen long enough/If you dream it strong enough/A door inside will open/And a light will flood the dark/Like a song too long unsung/Or a soul forever young/We all will find an answer/In the voice of the heart
I’m a Believer- Athena charging ahead with people cheering her on ‘"It’s not over yet, Thena. Even now at this very moment, I still believe in you! I know you better than most people, Thena. And I know you’d never surrender to the dark age of the law ”
It’s not easy to keep going – motivation’s running thin/I know my dream’s unrealistic … No, I don’t need reminding/In these moments, under pressure, when you feel it closing in/You’re the one - be the one to believe in
I keep searching for an answer/But I can’t keep it together Does anybody know what path I should take?/I won’t hesitate/Because this dream that I’ll create, it cannot be misguided/By simple regret, and thoughts of “what if”/So, I’ll take my next step, but if you were to cheer me on,I’d soar beyond that boundary
Young Volcanoes- “Well, nobody's going to try harder than me! So you'd better watch out, Apollo! Simon is free, thanks to Mr. Wright... ...but there are so many more people out there who need our help!”
Tonight, the foxes hunt the hounds/It's all over now/Before it has begun/We've already won/We are wild/We are like young volcanoes
Sora ni- Look, Athena and MHA just really go well together. I was always telling you guys sh’s part shonen hero part magical girl.
“Well, I knew that if I didn’t get your sentence overturned fast, you’d be executed! So I studied and studied. I was frantic! I’m so glad I made it in time! ………… Just barely… but I still made it! “
Every time you cry/Make it so It only makes you stronger/Cut straight through the illusion/And soar from the confusion/To a Blue-Sky Revolution/Can't forsake the future when it's this bright/So give the fight/All your might
Sunadokei: translation here. “Thatta girl, Athena. It’s good to see you finally let your tears out. “
I just continue on living /Questioning its meaning... /A correct answer just doesn't exist /So I just raise my head and keep walking
Resignation without restraint, memories/If you regret it and cry, that is fine /But even so, the tomorrow that is created will /Overflow with merciless love/.../Turn those broken tears into strength
Courtroom revolutionaire- obviously.
