shoutout to that time my friends and i had a minecraft server and they specifically downloaded a plugin for me so that i could look at endermen without them attacking me. because i love endermen.

speaking of meet up streams, i never really liked karlnap meet up streams. i’ll be honest and say individually they are the two i watch the least out of dtqk, but i feel like whenever karl is involved in a meet up stream, they feel so impersonal. like the karlnap cooking stream, why was there a camera man? and why was he zooming in and out and shaking it around all the time? george’s solo cooking streams and the snf cooking stream were much more entertaining imo.

i loved all of the qnf irl streams in december, the two of them together are electric and they both know how to balance an entertaining stream whilst maintaining that level of intimacy with the viewers.

i really enjoyed the snf streams too, especially the minecraft one and the cooking stream. i LOVED the qnfnap smoothie stream, where one of Them was the camera man rather than a random person, and it felt kinda like a home video.

i think karl relies way too much on his mr beast connections and experience for streaming, when mr beast is not a streamer. what works for youtube videos doesnt work for streams.

i love the whole . mom and pop store hands on vibe. like heres my mom and pop ranking:

1) dream. started his journey by studying the algorithm. learned coding to make interesting plugins for videos even tho he doesn’t personally do that as much these days. comes up with video ideas, edits all his own main channel videos, heavily involved in lore and writing and has pitched so many ideas, edits other people’s videos too and comes up w ideas for them, trains himself for his content, aka like improving his skills for manhunt and sourcing plus coming up w cool traps and tricks

2) quackity. his youtube channel grew up from ground up since he was a kid he’s heavily involved in the editing process of his own videos aside from subtitling he has gone through so many phases on his channel to keep things fresh as a creator his LORE is all edited and written by him he’s put in the effort to reach out to creators to put together a cohesive entertaining storyline he has his own ideas, he’s great w production and performance

3) george. instrumental to a lot of the coded plugins for his and dream’s videos esp in the early days, takes a lot of pride in his channel even if he isn’t usually the creative driving force behind certain ideas, but stuff like the ‘minecraft but my friend is ___’ idea was found by him and pitched to dream, he also edits his own videos in the event where he doesn’t girlboss dream into it, he is less involved in lore but has done impressive streams w heavy cc involvement and like set up (aka him ‘destroying’ the server and it all going back) and he’s shown good acting skills, he cares about the entertainment value he brings, brainstorms ideas for fun streams etc

4) sapnap. he’s a little more of a does as told guy which is fine because he followed dream here and that’s awesome and i wish i had his life. he’s dedicated def, he puts effort into filming and editing and when they film a video for his channel he’s usually prompt about getting it done and with lore he has the heart he wants to participate and make it more entertaining and he also wants to have a laugh and he is just skilled and that’s impressive always to see

5) karl. im sorry i love you i will free you one day. but maybe u don’t want to be freed. anyway i appreciate karl’s tenacity like he is a fun guy very friendly and ‘everyone is his friend’ vibe he is where he is bc he worked very hard with the stroke of luck he had w mr beast but well the minecraft videos did him no favors. i know he has it in him it just feels like he gets too ambitious so obviously he has to delegate but then when there’s too much delegation it loses some sincerity :( im sorry

We own and self-host all the hardware listed below, none of it is rented so there is no danger of us closing down due to a lack of donations.

We take server backups very seriously and our approach consists of hourly and daily snapshots with 200 day retention. We backup absolutely everything and that means the entirety of both our SSD's - The ones that we store Minecraft, our Databases and our Operating System on.

Backups are performed to the 6 x 2TB RAID6 Array noted above with a secondary backup to a single 4TB external hard drive connected directly to the server via USB. We do frequent tests on our backups to make sure they are functioning correctly and are readable.

Hi reddit! I've decided to expand PubCS into more games to utilize hardware not being put to use. PubCS has been around since 2010, starting off with CS 1.6 and then CS:GO. After a little hiatus, we are now back and online. I'm currently a senior at a university in the USA studying computer science. I built and co-located this server some time ago for a Big Data Analytics project I've been working on and since then had to upgrade to even stronger specs for hardware, leaving this box open for game servers! I built and paid for everything solely on my own so that gaming is free for everyone to enjoy. I've played minecraft some years ago and barely started getting back into it, so I'm still sort of new and just like to explore and build.

Looking for people who are cool with helping test a Pure 100% Vanilla Survival snapshot server with 12GB ram allocated to it for stability before I put up a public server. Snapshot servers are much more resource intensive than others. I'm still very busy with school AND work, so I really want this server to run itself, as in no player conflicts and just enormous amounts of building, peace, love, and prosperity for minecraft! I don't care who you are or where you are from, just please be friendly, respectful, and get along with others who are testing the server.

For testing, the server will be up for at least 30 days, possibly more. After testing, the server will become officially private with the launch of a secondary public server. That's the plan at least, who knows what the future has in store! This is mainly a test to see if the server can handle heavy loads during peak hours across multiple games and services running on the server.

Only requirement is that you have to be on discord and report any issues you have with the server. General Description

RENMX is a professionally run eight year old survival towny server with an active community. We are a medium sized server with between 15 to 25 players online at our peaks.

We own our server hardware and have not wiped our survival map since April 2012! - There is no chance of us going away and your creations will stay available on our survival map for years to come.

Our players and staff are friendly and approachable, we work hard to maintain a fun inclusive environment that encourages social play. You won't find staff abusing their power, nor will you find players acting out or receiving attention for bad behaviour.

Unique Features

We have two admin ranked programmers at RENMX and we work tirelessly to bring fun and engaging experiences to our server both through in-game plugins and web applications on our website. Not novelties but things you'll actually find useful. Below is a list of some of our custom features.

Reporter Had your décor forcibly altered? Want to take over an abandoned build? Then our /report system has you covered, simply typing /report <message> will see your problem resolved quickly.

Private Messaging Our custom private messaging system works cross-server with single and group chat support, including contact lists, user/group aliases and fully browsable/searchable message history!

Common Features / General Amenities

We make use of many common plugins that provide standard features players have come to expect including private messaging, mailing, teleporting, web-based real-time mapping, in-game player operated chest-shops, colour formatted chat, block logging and so forth.

In addition to these common features we also offer facilities including a forum, Discord, IRC chat and a steam group.

Rules

As our rules are always being improved I would urge you to read our full and upto date rule list at our website http://rules.renmx.com but I have summarised the key points into the following paragraph

Don't touch things that don't belong to you, be nice to fellow players, don't hassle players or staff, don't spam in chat, don't share links to adult content, no trolling, harassing, insulting, sexism, racism, homophobia or ageism and no advertising. Swearing is allowed but not excessively.

Server Specifications and Backup Policy

We own and self-host all the hardware listed below, none of it is rented so there is no danger of us closing down due to a lack of donations.

Main Server:

CPU: Dual Intel XEON E5-2667 v2's which each have 8 Cores / 16 Threads / 3.6-4GHz with 25MB of L3 Cache. RAM: 16 x 16GB (256GB) of DDR3 ECC RAM setup in an 8 Channel configuration (102.4GB/s). SSD's: 1 x Samsung 512GB 850 Pro (OS/Databases) and 1 x Samsung 256GB 850 Pro (Minecraft). Hard Disks: 6 x 2TB Samsung Hard Drives in RAID6 + 4TB Toshiba External Hard Drive, both for Backups only. Network Card: Intel X540-T2 Dual 10Gb/s networking

Backup Server:

CPU: Single Intel Core i7 3930K which has 6 Cores / 12 Threads / 3.2-3.8GHz with 12MB of L3 Cache. RAM: 8 x 4GB (32GB) of DDR3 RAM setup in a 4 Channel configuration (52.6GB/s). SSD's: 2 x 120GB Corsair Neutron GTX SSD's (OS/Databases and Minecraft).

Enterprise Router:

CPU: Single Intel Core i5 4590S which has 4 Cores / 4 Threads / 3.0-3.6GHz with 6MB of L3 Cache. RAM: 4 x 4GB (16GB) of DDR3 RAM setup in a 2 Channel configuration (25.6GB/s). Network Card: Intel X540-T2 Dual 10Gb/s networking. Internet Connectivity: 400Mb/ps uncapped internet access.

Uninterruptible Power Supply:

UPS: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD which gives us 900 Watts of peak power draw with a 1500 VA rating. At current specifications (Main Server + Router, Switch and Modem on the UPS) we have 21 minutes of run-time in the event of a power failure to the building.

Backup Policy:

We take server backups very seriously and our approach consists of hourly and daily snapshots with 200 day retention. We backup absolutely everything and that means the entirety of both our SSD's - The ones that we store Minecraft, our Databases and our Operating System on.

Backups are performed to the 6 x 2TB RAID6 Array noted above with a secondary backup to a single 4TB external hard drive connected directly to the server via USB. We do frequent tests on our backups to make sure they are functioning correctly and are readable.
