how to post songs as mp3 files and avoid copyright

a bunch of people were asking how to post music on tumblr so here's some kind of tutorial n_n there's probably a thousand better ways to do it out there but this is what i do and it works for me

Step 1: Acquiring music

Before you post any music you gotta have it as an mp3 file. Bunch of people mentioned mp3 converters but my favorite way has always been to just download discographies from blogs. You google "(band) complete discography free download" or something like that and something's bound to show up. If you've doing this for a while you'll skip this first part and go straight to the places you know will have it- here's some of my favorite blogspots for it - but they're all very specific to the stuff i listen to (mainly punk and latin american rock).

These type of sites tend to be genre-specific so if you're looking for, say, a prog rock band, maybe you'll have more luck searching for prog rock downloads websites. The older or more obscure the band, the easier it will be to find. And you'll find that a lot of these sites are not in english- you have to get comfortable visiting and downloading from sites in spanish, portuguese, russian or what have you and your life will get easier.

Don't limit yourself to blogs or music download-specific sites. Some people post album dl links on youtube. When i was in high school i downloaded The Black Parade from DeviantArt. The internet is far and wide and you can find stuff anywhere

But what if i can't find an album like this?

Alternative 1: Legally

Go find a record store and buy the album you want. You can also check the artist's bandcamp or any other website where you can buy their music and get it as a file on your pc (no streaming shit). Some albums are out there for free, legally! If you know an artist who uploads their music to tumblr you can just right click on their mp3 upload and download it directly :^)

Alternative 2: The classic

you can pretty much google youtube mp3 converter and click any link and it'll do the work. Here's a link from a safe piracy subreddit. You paste a youtube vid's link and hit convert/download etc.

I've also heard some people say Lucida is good (lets you download songs and albums by pasting the spotify/bandcamp/wtv link) but i can't say it has worked for me- always gives me a network error. But maybe it works for someone else.

Step 2: I got the music- now what?

Now you post it! Some songs (obscure or copyright-free enough) will just let you post them like that. Most songs won't. For a lot of them you'll have to add some silence or edit the metadata.

Adding silence to a song:

Option 1: Get audacity for free. Go to File > Open on the top bar and open the song you wanna add the silence to. Make sure you're at the start of the track (it says 00h00m00s at the bottom). Go to Generate > Silence... on the top bar also. Choose how long you want the silence to be, click "generate". You'll see a straight line appear at the start of the track- that means it worked. Go to File > Export > Export as MP3 to save it. You'll see a pop up where you can edit the metadata (things like artist, year, genre, etc.) i like having my audio files with metadata but for the purpose of tumblr posts you'll want to leave all that empty- if it's got that info erase it. Click "Ok". Done!

Option 2: Do it online on audiomass. Go to File > Load from Computer, open the song. Click on the white square with the S (insert silence button). Choose how long you want it to be, click "insert silence". You'll see a straight line appear at the start of the track- that means it worked. Go to File > Export/Download. Make sure it's mp3 format, i always save it as 256kbps but it's not neccessary. Click export. Done!

Some songs let you get away with only 5 or 8 seconds of silence. I try to have it be as short as possible, but most songs will need 10 seconds of silence. Sometimes even a little more, if even with the 10 seconds it doesn't let you post it try adding 0.25s more and checking.

I always play the file i just exported, to make sure everything's right.

Editing the metadata:

I'm gonna be honest i don't know how necessary this is but the audio post format works in mysterious ways so it's always better to be one step ahead. If you got it from youtube to mp3 or already added the silence then your file won't have any metadata, unless you didn't clear it when exporting from audacity. if you got it legally or pirated from any blogspot type site and didn't edit it at all it will probably have metadata. To edit it you have to right click the file > Properties, go to the "details" tab, and there you'll see things like title, author, year, genre, etc. You can just click on any section and change or erase it, then click "Ok".

As a last thing, it's generally better if the file is not saved as the song's name. Just name it anything else.

Compressing the file:

I almost forgot but there's also a size limit. I don't remember it at the moment because i've only had a problem with it once, but if you do just google "compress mp3 file" and go on any website to do it LOL

Step 3: Posting it

Now just go make a new audio post. Upload the file from your pc. If there's an error sometimes it'll tell you what it is (you don't own this song/the file is too heavy/etc) but sometimes it will just delete the audio post format and not tell you anything. If there's any error make sure you did everything (the silence, the metadata, the size, the file name). Maybe go back and add 0.5 or 1 more second of silence at the start. Sometimes tumblr just won't want you to post a song even with every step done right- nothing to do about that :( Sometimes you can try back after a while and it will let you post the song- sometimes it won't. There's no real logic to it tbh.

But if everything goes right it will upload correctly. Now you can add the song's title, artist and album info, and album art or whatever image you want n_n Hit post and done!

ignore this if it's too public but, what do you use for ripping audio? I've been using cobalt.tools but it's not very efficient for whole playlists. been thinking about that spotify post a lot lol

Ough.. I usually don't rip audio. not for music at least.

See, youtube, and youtube music, only streams audio at 128kbps quality (256 if you have premium). Which is... mediocre. High-quality MP3 files are usually 320kbps, and good .flac files are variable bitrate but usually end up several times higher than that. (Doesn't really matter tho, most bluetooth only streams at 320 anyways, and if you can tell the difference and want to use a cord, you already need better headphones.)

So... I usually try to find a torrent that already has the music I'm looking for, which is... not everything. If you're looking for more popular stuff, you can look up, like "depeche mode discography" and it'll be there, all high quality and decent metadata to unzip into your ~/music folder.

But for the stuff you can't find on there, your best bet is lucida.to

It's... janky and not very consistently up, prone to weird errors and random problems, but when it does work, you get good-quality music files out of it. They might come in .ogg, which you'll have to convert (i like fre:ac) to mp3 or flac if you want metadata to work, but it's usually good.

Also, don't trust any online "spotify downloader" websites; afaik, nobody has cracked spotify's encryption. What they're doing is searching youtube, finding each song, download that, and putting spotify metadata on it. Maybe the file will even say 320kbps, but that's a lie, if you open it up in the right viewer it'll be 128. There's shitty paid software available that will "rip" from spotify by actually messing with your Spotify client, making it actually play the song at a higher speed or something, and then ripping that, but... not really worth it. Piracy is meant to be free, damnit!

If you really want to rip good audio files, you'll have to, like, get a Tidal or Deezer subscription and use software to rip from that.

...Now! If you weren't asking about music, want to rip from Youtube, and/or don't care whether your quality is good, I use and love Stacher!

It's a GUI for yt-dlp, which is like, the command-line youtube downloading tool, and... it works.

Like, I used this to download all of The Magnus Archives; I just pasted the playlist url into it and it downloaded each one. It'll be great for like, podcasts, or things for which you won't really care about super fidelity? or if you want to download tons of videos, it'll do that.

Io posso affermare con convinzione ed in maniera lucida e razionale i motivi per i quali non c'è affatto da volermi bene e da piacere agli altri a livello sentimentale e a livello fisico. È tutto qua il nocciolo della questione. Io non ho ad un certo punto iniziato a pensare in maniera negativa nei miei confronti, ma ho da sempre pensato solo in maniera negativa nei miei confronti. Con tutte le variazioni che ci sono state durante il percorso, ma il filo conduttore è stato questo. Per questo motivo, allora, per me non funzionano i compitini di tutte le psicologie facili e veloci, non funziona scrivere su un quaderno che io valgo e poi inizio a crederci come se fossi stata illuminata. Il lavoro che dovrei fare sarebbe innanzitutto quello di inquadrare nella sua totalità la struttura del pensiero, prendere ogni pezzo e smontarlo per poi ricostruire un nuovo modo di parlare di me che corrisponde poi al modo in cui percepisco me e la mia esistenza. Perché nessuna buona volontà o nessun affetto mi dimostrerà mai che io sono una persona amabile, bella, che il mio corpo è attraente nonostante tutto anche se quell'affetto è sincero e accalorato. Non c'è da dimostrare proprio un bel niente perché non si tratta di una cosa che non credo ma di una cosa che ho mai sfiorato col pensiero, e non si tratta nemmeno di cancellare delle frasi sbagliate che ad un certo punto ho iniziato a fare mie e scriverci sopra quelle nuove perché quelle frasi "sbagliate" sono cresciute assieme a me, hanno iniziato a formularsi appena il pensiero ha trovato l'ausilio delle parole, sono la mia essenza.

l'INPS fa un "errore" e aumenta l' età per andare in pensione di tre mesi, l' errore sarebbe dovuto ad un adeguamento automatico del sistema alle statistiche che indicano un aumento dell' aspettativa di vita.

Parliamone.

Nella struttura dove lavoro ci sono ben due centenarie: una è incredibilmente vispa, lucida, sta meglio di me. L' altra è una specie di marmotta in perenne letargo, ci mette sei ore e mezza per trovare le parole adatte a formulare una frase (però ancora parla!) e se viene lasciata per più di sessanta secondi sola mentre è sveglia comincia a gridare di essere stata abbandonata. Tutti gli altri, dagli ottanta in su, è un autentico miracolo se ancora camminano e soprattutto se si ricordano chi sono.

Quindi... "Aumento dell' aspettativa di vita?" E questa voi la chiamate vita?

Con 5 ore scarse di sonno sugli occhi posso dire che sono sempre più sconvolta da come tutto possa cambiare in un istante. Fino a sabato pomeriggio ero convinta che, nonostante alcune difficoltà ed incertezze, avessi tutto sotto controllo. In un istante è cambiata ogni cosa. È come se, in una immaginaria partita di poker, fossi stata costretta a fare all in senza neanche vedere le carte e, per ovvi motivi, avessi perso disastrosamente.

Mi chiedo se non potessi fare di più e meglio. Se questa fretta di mettere un punto non sia stata solo un errore enorme. È che ora non sono oggettiva e neanche tanto lucida. Ho dormito 5 ore ed ho sognato per tutto il tempo di stare con una persona che voleva uccidermi. Ho sognato di sentirmi in pericolo. Proprio sabato pensavo: "faccio tante resistenze, ma alla fine quando sono con A. sento sempre di essere nel posto giusto. Provo una calma nuova, che mi tranquillizza". Due ore dopo ero in preda ad un pianto triste e antico provocato da quella stessa persona.

Io sono solo stanca, solo tanto stanca.

so through your posts i learned abt lucida which is a very cool site for downloading music but i do wonder if you can download entire albums or especific playlists on it? that doesn't appear in their faq :((

yes you can download entire albums!! Just copy + paste the album link like you would a song and you can dl all of it at once n_n i dont know about playlists but you can try, worst case scenario nothing happens

watch out tho i always get a network error when i try downloading an album, but a mutual informed me you can just wait a few minutes and try again and it should work

Ora, era il caos fatto carne. E Patrick... Patrick aveva superato il limite. L’aveva tradita. L’aveva trattata come una pedina, come un giocattolo rotto.

Un errore fatale Harley, lo aveva trovato nel suo covo, Patrick aveva provato a parlare fin troppo, predicava bene ma razzolava male. Ma Harley non voleva più parole, voleva silenzio e glielo diede mettendo fine a tutto... Con un solo colpo. La mazza aveva danzato nell’aria come un'estensione della sua furia. Il suono sordo dell’osso che si spezza fu più dolce di qualsiasi canzone. Il sangue schizzò sulle rose del suo tatuaggio alla coscia. Ottavia abbassò la testa e sussurrò, con un ghigno crudele*

Mi cimento – sotto suggerimento e con una guida – nel giocare videogame che non siano metroidvania a 2D per cercare di migliorare la coordinazione e l'avere il controllo di più cose contemporaneamente come: visuale, la difesa, l'attacco, l'equilibrio, il consumo di energia per movimenti impegnativi come rotolate e corsa. Difatti i primi dieci minuti sono scoppiata in lacrime dicendo "ci sono troppe cose a cui pensare è come con l'auto" perché mi sentivo sopraffatta dalla sequenza delle cose da tenere a mente come con la guida. Oltre la coordinazione l'obiettivo è anche quello di affrontare le situazioni di panico e di errore: una cosa grandiosa dei videogiochi è che ti danno sempre una seconda chance, fosse pure quella di reiniziare il gioco dall'inizio, questo per chi come me teme l'irrimediabilitá di un errore puó essere liberatoria o se non altro educativa. Anche se si scontra ugualmente col terrore di sbagliare, di farsi ammazzare. Ho una tolleranza bassissima dello stress: dato che vivo in uno stato di ipervigilanza costante appena si alza un po' di più la lineetta dell'allarme vado in panico: nel gioco si traduce in movimenti a casaccio, quasi spastici che spesso mi portano a morire. Allora il punto è provarci e riprovarci fin quando non acquisto confidenza col pericolo, so cosa aspettarmi e allora ridivento più lucida e anche se la tensione è alta arrivo al punto che posso reggerla e gestire dunque la situazione. Tirando le somme Dark souls mi sta aiutando dunque ad avere disciplina, coordinazione spaziotemporale, affrontare la paura e a gestire solituazioni stressanti. Questo per quanto riguarda il mio problema con l'ansia. Per quanto riguarda invece gli irrisolti del passato, il rapporto col desiderio e con gli altri, la depressione, mi sono rivolta – sempre sotto suggerimento – agli anime. Come dimenticare quella notte passata a piangere quando si era svelato un personaggio in Quintessential Quintuplets perché aveva toccato un aspetto fondamentale che io stessa mi ero nascosta. E questo sarebbe solo un esperimento.

Non è che non confido nei metodi convenzionali, ma se non puoi permetterti un professionista e se non trai più vantaggio dalle letture in qualche modo ti devi pur organizzare.

I colori nella nostra vita sono molto importanti, definiscono visivamente le forme ne tracciano i contorni, danno un tono e un’anima. Senza colori non ci sarebbero i sorrisi, il buonumore e la fantasia. Sarebbe un mondo piatto e triste… non ci sarebbe mondo. Dallo spazio, posta in mezzo all’universo buio, la terra viene vista come una palla colorata che si distingue dagli altri pianeti proprio per la sua forma variopinta, nessun altro pianeta suscita in noi così tante sensazioni positive. Magari stai usando un software nero che appiattisce la tua personalità, non dà spazio alla tua creatività e non ti emoziona quando lo usi. Questa è la grande differenza che Allplan ha rispetto a tutti gli altri, sprigiona in chi lo adotta la sua vera natura creativa e allo stesso tempo la parte razionale, che non sovrasta la prima, ma la sostiene.
