There is no comparison between Soulless Sam and Demon Dean. For how much I enjoy Demon Dean (especially in first with my sammy), Soulless Sam was an amazing character and performance.

The same for Samifer. The best Lucifer. Even Jensen said this (for RoboSam and Samifer). When Matt Cohen had to interpret Michael, Jensen sent his the episode 4x05, saying: do what Jared is doing.

Absolutely, Soulless Sam was a league of his own. I loved how Jared played him subtle in the beginning where he feels like Sam but something is not quite right. The hooker, the lying, the stronger stance. Soulless Sam uses Sam's full height to seem intimidating whereas Sam hunches, makes himself look smaller. Later we see him embrace his Soullessness to the extent where he is willing to sacrifice Bobby! Like, hello! Cold blooded much? but that's exactly what I loved about him!

I was excited about Demon Dean tbh but sadly it fell flat for most part. The only part I loved was him manipulating Sam into thinking he was no different than Demon Dean tricking a random guy to sell his soul. They made Dean a demon but didn't know what to do with it other than making him bff with Crowley. I'm sorry, you are telling me a trained hunter with volatile anger turned demon with the Mark of Cain just dicked around like a frat boy? Nope! He should have been ruthless. Hunted Sam down, been hyper cruel to him. I kept waiting for "what I'm gonna do to you, it ain't gonna be mercy" like where was that?!! 😭😭

SPN Episode Tag Game

So this morning after checking out some of @campingmonkey 's latest gif posts, I got to thinking about underrated episodes and what might be some maybe unpopular takes about SPN? And thus, this little tag game was born! The rules are simple:

Name as many (or few) of your unpopular thoughts about episodes, etc. regarding SPN as you want

My thoughts:

Wendigo (1x02) is a GOOD episode. We get the OG "Saving People, Hunting Things" line. We get to see Sam take charge and that the boys, while brave, are flawed and will make mistakes as hunters

Meg 1.0, Yellow Eyes, Lilith and Season 5 Lucifer were the only truly scary villains

MoTW episodes > Larger plot point episodes

The dark/gritty aesthetic from S1-2 should have lasted longer

Monster Movie (4x05) does not get enough love in fandom for it's creative choices and nods to OG horror movies

Ruby 2.0 is basically a different person to Ruby 1.0

Adam being Sam & Dean's half-brother was a stupid plotline

Season 5 is considered the strongest overall season. But other seasons have more standout episodes

Ben isn't Dean's son but Dean was happy to be the father to step up after Lisa was there for him at the end of Season 5

Bobby was done dirty by his death

Season 6 has some good episodes (and no, not just French Mistake)

Crowley & Rowena had the best character growth throughout the show

Angel blades should not have been introduced as weapons

Going to purgatory in season 15 and saying Benny was killed off screen was extremely stupid

Season 11 was the last good season (and parts of 12 if I'm being generous)

Jack was a good edition to the show in S13. Beyond that, they didn't know what to do with him

Sam & Dean acted out of character many times in the last two seasons

I think Season 15 is generally regarded as the worst season, disregarding polarizing opinions on the finale, because they favor larger storyline over MoTW episodes and the S15 plot wasn't strong enough to carry that burden

4x04 - Lucifer Keeping Secrets

The bar fight. Lucifer is kicking ass, barely breaking a sweat. Then Chloe calls his name, he finds out she’s there and can see him, and he gets stabbed with the pool cue.

Lucifer (frustrated and a little annoyed): Hello, Detective.

She goes up to him. At this point, they’re still on the outs, but we know that he still cares about her and what she thinks because he is vulnerable again.

Chloe (eyeing the pool cue sticking out of him): Care to tell me why you're here?

Lucifer: Not particularly. I doubt you'd be able to accept it.

But why? He was there to find the necklace, which he needed to keep his end of the new arrangement with Bashir Al-Fassad, which he had to make because she called in his favor.

Why wouldn't she be able to accept that? Because he thinks that she thinks that he is the "embodiment of evil" (4x03) and therefore cannot accept that he might do a favor for a friend without expecting to get anything back in return. But he doesn't even try. He never tells her the good things he does -- except in St. Lucifer (1x11), which didn't go very well.

By the way, he never calls her out about calling in his favor, and he didn't hang her out to dry with Al-Fassad. In fact, he seemed to appreciate her resourcefulness: "Clever Detective." So when Eve tells Chloe in 4x05 that Lucifer called her the most resourceful person he's ever met, it's earned. But of course he would never tell her that to her face.

All of which begs the question Chloe asked in 3x21: Why doesn't he just tell her how he feels? Because he's afraid she won't love him back.

4x05 is extremely emotional, yeah, but you know what got me? amenadiel telling chloe her dad is proud of her. it takes her a minute, but then she realises. and she just glances up at the sky, realising that, yeah, she was gonna see her dad again one day. and that he was really, truly so fucking proud of her, and she had an angel’s word to prove it.
