Have you ever thought about that, despite as an Archangel being absolutely capable of doing so, Lucifer maybe couldn’t have brought Sam back?

Here’s what I’m thinking:

So, we have the Enochian Sigils Castiel etched into Sam’s and Deans ribs. That hide the carrier from all angels in existence.

And yes, Lucifer probably could’ve gotten into heaven to get a hold of Sam’s soul. But he needs the location of the body to put it back inside(?). And depending on the way Sam died, if his ribs aren’t broken, Lucifer can’t find the body. He said it to Sam himself that Sam’s hard to find (because of the sigils).

How were the other angels capable of bringing Sam and Dean back all those many times in S5? Maybe because the angels that did so were still part of heaven (not fallen like Lucifer), and they could track the soul back to the body. Following the route it took to heaven in reverse.

Because despite Sam and Dean dying many times in Season 5, they were always brought back by other angels, never once by Lucifer, who could’ve done so easily. And he would’ve. But maybe since he’s fallen/cast out, he doesn’t know when Sam’s soul shows up in heaven. He can’t feel/see/know it because he has no access to heaven, maybe he can’t get past the gates(?).

And another point is that maybe Lucifer wouldn’t have dared to show up in heaven, because of Michael(?). Or maybe, since he’s fallen, Lucifer no longer has access to certain Archangel powers, resurrection being one of them (I’m talking exclusively about s5), but Sam doesn’t know, wouldn’t know, so Lucifer can tell him he’ll bring him back and Sam would never know the difference.

Because trust me, if Sam had died by killing himself or in an accident and Lucifer had been the one to bring him back, Sam would know. Lucifer would tell him. Would definitely let him keep the memory. Let Sam remember who brought him back. Not like the other angels who erased Sam and Dean’s memories of dying/being resurrected.

Lucifer wanted Sam to accept him willingly, wanted Sam on his side, and he would’ve used the chance to resurrect Sam, and even Dean, as something to say “See, I’m not the bad guy here.” Same as telling Sam in the mirror, when he was possessing him, that he would bring his parents back. That Dean would live.

Lucifer would’ve resurrected Sam, but he never did in S5, and that makes me wonder. Maybe he did and we don’t know (though that’s unlikely), maybe he couldn’t.

I need Sam and Lucifer go hunting together… I need a human bad guy giving this entire speech about how they are going to kill Sam and sacrifice him for a ritual, and Lucifer just showing up to beat them up only for Sam to just casually roll his eyes and say, “Lucifer, no! We don’t kill people!”

And Lucifer go. “Just a little bit? Maim? One leg?”

Just the entire time their dynamic to be “Lucifer no! 😠” “Lucifer yes! 😈 “
