I think I noticed something (a pattern, perhaps?):

the Prototype is seen as a savior,

Harley believed himself a savior,

Poppy was supposed to be the savior then

and Angel is meant to be the savior now

and all of them have done nothing but accomplish more pain and death and pointless violence for everybody that stands beneath and looks up to them.

They so desperately want to be a family of saviors, but they are more like angels of doom, only announcing that worse is to come and nothing is ever getting better as long as they are in charge.

Even before Nopes I had interrogations about Leopold switching sides, from being a random noble under Ionius' orders, to someone who sides with Ludwig, to ultimately betray him and lend his forces to Supreme Leader.

Then Nopes popped up and apparently his motivation was to support her because he thought she was "strong" enough to finally conquer Fodlan or something?

(or was it only Ludwig's reasoning? Do we even learn why Leopold switched sides? I know he's rewarded with Leicester in CF, but is that it?)

But then, I popped up on those lines by earlier checking the localisation changes and it made me think :

Doro blames the nobles for, uh, ditching Supreme Leader when she dies and cozying up to the Alliance and the Church, and how apparently, by doing so, they only think of themselves .

But then she talks about Leopold, and comparing him to those "other nobles" is apparently supposed to bring him in a good light - but hey, Leopold also betrayed everyone only thinking about himself, first by ditching Ionius, and second by ditching Ludwig!

Also, the loc prettied up the thing, but it's actually a bit more muddled :

Leopold offers his life so his soldiers won't be held responsible/liable and will be forgiven for their participation or "involvment" in, well, the war.

Putting aside real life and how "but I was just listening to orders" never worked in recent history when people are put on trial after a war ends and the general issue of post-war reconciliation - while this is an unexpected nice move Leopold pulled, as the Minister of War, he seems to be the only Adrestian character to take responsability for his actions.

But again, he was the Minister of War - the one who lead armies - so in a way, taking a bullet for his men is the least we can expect him to do, and yet, the game will forever (at least FE16!) remain silent on why he decided to side with Supreme Leader after betraying her father and their Prime Minister.

Was he interested in money? New territories? Just wanted to battle? Did he really believe in Make Adrestia Great Again?

He dies for the sake of his soldiers, but why did he even join the war to begin with?

simon the harrowed watching simon riley degrade further into insanity and when hunter gary sanderson shows up in the nightmare he warns him to watch out for a skull masked hunter annihilating anyone who gets near him with a beasthunter saif

warnings of “in another lifetime maybe he could have been your ally…but i doubt someone as far gone as he is can be reasoned with anymore” doesn’t stop sanderson from trying; he didn’t get the nickname roach for giving up easily

even as riley tries to obliterate him with the deadly precision of a practiced hunter coupled with the unhinged blood lust of a hunter intoxicated by the hunt sanderson keeps fighting back until he has riley flat on his back, his threaded cane pressed down tight on riley's throat to keep him still, looking into the covered eyes of the unhinged man that he knows can still see him, quietly reminding him of the hunt he abandoned before he gave in to his clear grief and agony; telling him they can take on ludwig together, take the research hall and the astral clocktower together, free the poor wizened child from his suffering together, if only riley would come back to himself, remember who he is and his purpose as a hunter; they could transcend the hunt together, gain true insight together, if only riley would remember who he was and could still be

This pic was originally drawn in the mindset of "Ludwig gets found directly after Junior," but it's mostly scrapped in that regard.

Lud's behavior, on the other hand, is still fair game. After he's found, he refuses to get within ten feet of the humans despite his siblings' insistence that they're harmless. He starts keeping a Star Trek-style log of his time in the squishy bipeds' care, taking note of everyone's actions in case something fishy happens. Which it never does.

He's especially wary of "the purple one," as Dal's the one usually taking care of Junior and therefore the one who could easily harm the kid or otherwise take advantage of Junior's trust.

But at the same time... he can't help but be curious. He's never seen a "hyoo-man" before, and based on how the gang described their homeworld, it sounds like they're deathworlders. Which doesn't make any sense; deathworlders, like their name implies, are said to be much, much more vicious. All the time.

So why are these ones acting so kind...?

EPISODE 3 IS SO GOOD OH MY GOSH!!!!

The pans, shots, lighting are extraordinary- the stories aligning, not quite knowing what’s real and what’s not, it’s getting intense!

The little scene we get with Henry and John sharing a brief yet soul-crushing moment while Lucy listens in - if the intentions I’m getting from that scene is what I think I’m reading into, it hurts so good

Definitely my favorite episode so far, might even become one of my top ten comfort episodes of any show ever

elliot ludwig headcanons:

he's short. not SHORT short but he's less than average when it comes to his height

smoked a freaking LOT. man's lungs were like a freaking furnace, he only stopped smoking as much as he did after adopting poppy

speaking of poppy, he 100÷ dotted on her. gave her everything she asked for, spared no expenses. poppy was SPOILED, but elliot did manage to raise her to be a good person who's thankful of what she has

he knows how to sell an idea, he has the people smarts, he knows how people work, but he would rather interact with people he already knows than to meet new people. not that anyone besides poppy ever knew of this

poppy learnt how to manipulate others from him, and it wasnt even intentional, elliot just wanted to be sure his daughter knew how to navigate herself in a world that wasn't always kind

to me he legit loved children and legit never ever EVER wanted any of the experiments do be done. i think this adds a good layer of tragedy to the game and it's more meaningful than "the guy shoved children inside toys for the funsies" theory

yes he was always very good with kids, man had infinite patience with them no matter what happened

had no romantic relationships after his divorce, mostly because he worked too much. only stopped working as much after he found poppy

his weight fluctuated between slightly chubby to average for most of his life

always wore the same combination of clothes, always used the same mug, etc etc. he was a man of habit

also hated throwing things away thanks to living through the great depression. if something can be fixed he will fix it

WWI war vet, has some bad flashbacks and episodes from time to time

designed the smiling critters when he was on his 70s, but died before they could be made. playcare was reformed to add in all the critter stuff during the late 80s

was quite a charming man, probably someone's bi awakening, but elliot himself never cared much about this sort of thing. he had a wife, then they divorced, and that was it. could have gotten married again if he wanted to, tho

VERY proud of his engineering knowledge and way of doing things, please do not question his methods, he's too stubborn to change them

100÷ tried to do the "if you hurt my daughter i'll make sure you regret it" talk to the first guy poppy dated, but ended up bonding with him over a shared interest of airplanes

kept his wedding ring around, despite everything
