If Lighter’s Past Was Revealed To The Rest Of The Sons Of Calydon and Billy

So Lighter’s entire problem with his past is that he’s afraid of what the rest of the Sons of Calydon will think of him when they learn about his past, but with everything that they will go through, I think down the road, someone will reveal Lighter’s past.

So imagine Lighter being horrified that someone revealed to Caesar, Lucy and her boars, Burnice, and Piper that Lighter has a dark past and that they should abandon him because he’s not a good person. And imagine it happening in Blazewood in front of everyone who lives there.

It’s the scenario that he has nightmares about and it’s now happening in real life. The girls are screaming at the person that they’re wrong and that Lighter deserves his title as their Champion, but Lighter doesn’t hear those words. His mind is telling him to run because it’s over for him.

“They finally found out.”

So Lighter runs. Runs faster than he ever did in his life. He doesn’t hear the girls screaming and begging him to come back, nor does he hear Big Daddy yelling at him to stop. Kasa and the rest of Blazewood watch in horror as Lighter speeds off in his motorcycle to who knows where.

The Champion they all love and care about has left. They place the perpetrator in jail and start frantically searching for Lighter. They don’t care about his past as a former underground fighter nor what he had to do to survive, they know Lighter as a good man and a loyal Champion. They know Lighter as someone who would never hurt his family and friends and protect them from all their enemies.

That was their Lighter. Their Champion.

As night falls, Big Daddy calls Billy to help with the search. Billy tells him to give him a few hours.

They don’t know that Billy found him first. Billy was walking through Lumina Square trying to find a good place to plan a celebration party for the Cunning Hares and went to the hotpot restaurant when he saw a flash of a red scarf. Billy instantly checked if the red scarf came from his 'Little Bro' and ran to the tiny playground corner where he found Lighter.

Who was about to jump from the rails and into the cold waters.

Billy instantly dashed to Lighter, pulled him away from the railing to sit him down near the sandbox, and began to wail at him for scaring him. Billy told Lighter that he couldn't die as Billy would become a broken android if his successor were to die in front of him. Billy 'cried' so much that he did not register the slightly cold arms of Lighter hugging him until he saw Lighter crying into his arms. The two Champions stayed in their somber silence until Lighter had no more tears left to cry.

After composing himself, Billy asked Lighter what happened and who he needed to kill. Lighter slightly laughed and told him what went down in Blazewood. Some enemy came to town, and Caesar and Lucy fought them when Lighter came into view, and the enemy told everyone about Lighter's past. Lighter saw Billy was readying his girls for a death match but said nothing as he finally told Billy why his past was so shameful to him.

As Lighter ends his sad tale, Billy tells Lighter that he is not the same person from the underground fighting ring and that who he is now is the person who should be important to him. Billy tells Lighter how he was the same as his successor back then as Billy only felt like a killing machine during his years as the Champion to Caesar's father until other people started telling Billy that he was more than a killing machine since he did pass the Forbidden Fruit Test. He recounted the happier days when he was reminded to feel less like a weapon and more like a person and why his new life in New Eridu with the Cunning Hares makes him happy. To his family, Billy Kid was not a weapon, but the best android to have as a family member.

Lighter nods and thinks about Billy's words. He wasn't lying that he was happier, and Lighter had envied Billy for it. Looking at his current life with the Sons of Calydon made him realize that they would never leave Lighter to wallow in his suffering and make sure he was finally living a happy life.

Just like the Cunning Hares had done for Billy.

When the phone call from Big Daddy came, Lighter and Billy were eating hotpot and talking and comparing their lives. Lighter agreed to go back to Blazewood to face reality and Billy agreed to go with him to support his successor.

The amount of hugging, crying, and relief from seeing Lighter was immense the instant Lighter and Billy arrived. Caesar, Lucy, and Burnice tackled him with hugs and begged him not to leave them, Piper scolded Lighter for scaring everyone, and Bricky, Grassy and Woody weakly hit his knees and hugged him for coming back. Big Daddy patted his shoulder and hugged him, thanking him for not dying, and thanking Billy for finding him. Billy nodded and left to find something.

Kasa, Dorian, and the rest of Blazewood all took a turn welcoming him back to town and telling him that he would always be their Champion. A small gathering at Cheesetopia takes place as Lighter finally sets the records straight and tells them what happened in his life. The girls cry again as they tell Lighter that he will not suffer any more heartbreak with Caesar apologizing to Lighter for potentially retraumatizing him during the Tour de Inferno. Everyone gives Lighter their support the same way he gave them his all.

No one is going to let Lighter suffer alone anymore.

A shot rings out and they all look to the makeshift jail they placed the enemy in. Billy comes out with a gleeful look. He tells them the enemy isn't dead, but has lost their chances to walk perfectly again.

No one says anything. After all, as Lighter's predecessor, Billy had every right to hurt the person who caused Lighter's pain.

And Lighter should not suffer anymore.

⋈ Billy makes some strange decisions at time, either cuz he’s trying to be cheap in order to save more, or he’s just not thinking straight and makes an impromptu purchase. As his s/o, you’re able to reel him in and help him make smarter decisions that’ll leave him so grateful that you care as much to aid him. Of course, this doesn’t count when he decides to splurge on you, because his girlfriend deserves only the best.

⋈ The girls in the Cunning Hares have at least met you a couple times before, after all they do care for Billy so only want to know who his new girlfriend is. That being said, Nicole is probably the one who can see the benefits of keeping you around, only to drop them once she sees just how much you adore their android friend that they’ve started noticing changes in him that are for the better. He still is goofy and oftentimes causing a ruckus with the others, but he’s become more thoughtful and acknowledges when things are going wrong or when they need to make a decisive decision in their work or expenses. Nicole doesn’t mind having you come around often, as long as you don’t become another mouth to feed. 

⋈ Best part of having such a cute girlfriend is being able to binge watch movies together and go out on dates. His favorites being the ones where they explore Lumina Square and stop to take photos. Of course, he loves doing the iconic poses from his favorite shows and movies, impersonating the actors to the point that it embarrasses you but he does it in a loving matter. But he also loves taking photos of you, drinking coffee at the Tin man’s shop, fawning over the shop bangboos, or even experimenting with the makeup in the salon there. He has a whole file saved of his favorite moments from your dates. 

⋈ Of course, dating Billy has its cons. For one he is usually cold to the touch because he’s made of metal and need to have his joints lubricated. But no worries, he does his best to maintain himself and makes subtle changes that you wouldn’t have noticed otherwise. Like buying a heating module to help increase his body heat, though the dealer he bought it from was kinda sketchy and now he overheats too quickly just from seeing your cute face. And when it comes to lubrates, he gets only the finest of lubes to help him move to the best of his ability. A little too well as you’ll have him turning head at record speed when you call him. Maybe even trip over his own feet trying to catch up to you. 

⋈ Billy can be a fool but he’s your fool. He loves and cherishes every day he gets to spend with you; And whenever he’s in a pinch, down in the hollows completing the hardest of commissions all for the sake of getting by with the Cunning Hares, he can only think of how you’ll be waiting for him on the outside. Ready to give him the biggest hug and rewatch Oh~ Sweetie where now he no longer finds joy in admiring the main actress as you shine brighter than any other starlight knight.

i really still can't believe i missed the anniversary for this! nov 29th huh? (yes i can actually !!! at the time i had just started a new job and that's where all my willpower has been.) but i fondly remember those ten years ago, that nov 29th is just as close to december anyway. so i always lead myself to think it's dec and not nov! details !!!

i don't think it'd make a difference but i do so want to get this in before the new year... (adding unnecessary stressors to myself smh)

it's been quite a ride through addhell. it's weird... to think how much has happened here. it's insane to think about how this one white hair anime boy changed my live in ways i could never fathom

picture it with me, a no one in a group of friends. with nothing but... the ambition of friendship, and the love of writing to fuel him, and a new username ready to take on the world: mymastermine.

that group of friends holds three: me, my would be DIE, and my would be LP. (does... does anyone remember those days of us three causing chaos laughs - tho mostly two, i suppose) we would make our way into the fandom, make tons of things, meet some people, make things with those people and make friends, lose some people, and grow, grow, grow...

there's just been... so much in ten years. ten years guys !!! that's a lot !!! i was a proud senpai and kouhai all at once! i'd found a really cool sensei. i ran into artists who drew things for me and i wrote for them!

i watched the rise AND fall of void els (raise your hand if you're an oger), in real time watched vMM became a cultural phenomenon (you're lying to yourself if you dont think he was - ykb did something irreversible to the add fandom that day i fear 😂 he's still relevant to this day lmFAO thank ykb for ur service), i watched the top LP/bottom LP debates :/, i'd poked my head into the els tag to see yall fighting but then i'd see some cool things too! i've seen so many cool projects and zines -- hell, got to actually take part in one! (cringe as it was - our writing, not the zine but still proud of doing that !!!)

addcest/hellsword (tumblr) isn't what it use to be though. (hell tumblr itself isn't what it use to be, let's be real LMAO) but... i think that i love that hasn't stopped some of us for cherishing and/or still loving add to this day.

i think if you'd told past me i'd be doing this, writing for one (1) singular anime boy, i wouldn't be surprised - couldn't expect it to go any other way i think

i'm not sure how to feel that ten years later i am still writing for him - it's been quite obvious where i felt it wane (but that was more my life and mental health (was in quite few depressive episodes - still am lmao), and joy - or lack thereof at the times - of writing and placing my joy momentarily elsewhere) but... wow i'm still here? LMAO

but i've met so many amazing people because of him... i've made connections, some not quite lasting, but then... there's always someone else there isn't there?

1. This feature will be available from the first Monday after the version update at 04:00 (server time). Once available, missions will refresh each Monday at 04:00 (server time).

Characters I Mained This Year

1. Chun-Li - Street Fighter 6

I have always kept Chun-Li in my roster in previous iterations of Street Fighter but she was never a Main. Until her SF6 redesign! I've had tons of fun with the game in general but with Chun-Li in particular as well. When the entire base roster and season 1 DLC leaked A.K.I. immediately caught my eye and I thought she would be my main, but after realising that she wasn't part of the launch roster I immediately focused on Chun-Li and even now that A.K.I. is out and she is part of my roster, Chun-Li stayed in place!

2. Testament - Guilty Gear -Strive-

Strive's redesigning of characters confused me a bit. At first I immediately picked up I-No and then I thought that I would switch for Jack-O' when she was announced but I didn't really vibe with Strive Jack-O' as much as I did with GGXrdR Jack-O' so I stuck to I-No but I wasn't 100% content. I love I-No and I've played her in the past but I wanted something more. After finally getting Testament I was hooked. I knew they were the one and I'm so happy with my choice!

3. Nina Williams - Tekken 7

Nina is of course my forever Queen and she will always be so of course she's on this list. Not much more to say, I've mained her since I was a kid so she stays on top as the Queen of Tekken!

4. Trish (& X-23 & Phoenix) - Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

UMVC3 is of course a team game, it's just that I think of Trish as the "leader" of the team of shorts. I'm still struggling with this game, I think I always will, but it's always a nice change of pace from my usual Tekken sessions and these three girlies are my favourites to play as.

5. Mai Shiranui (&Luong &B. Jenet) - The King of Fighters XV

Now that the game's online was finally fixed I was able to get my ass kicked properly online with my girls! To tell you the truth I'm still not 100% sure if I'm sold on Jenet. I love her, obviously, but I'm not sure if she's main team material. Mai and Luong are staying for sure, but if Mature and Vice finally make it in a possible upcoming season, Mature is probably rejoining my main team!

6. Android 18 (& Android 21 & Trunks)

In a game with only four playable ladies (and one palette swap) I struggled a lot to find my team as I'm not really a Dragon Ball fan, I just have a general idea of who the characters are and what they do with their life. Android 18 was an obvious first choice and so was 21, but then I grew unexpectedly fond of Trunks (plustheothertwoladiesarenotuptomystandars) hence how he made the cut!

7. Neco-Arc - Melty Blood: Type Lumina

I always pick my mains based on looks and then personality and gameplay so Neco-Arc came as a breath of fresh air in a game like MBTL, let's be very honest. She has a distinct lack of cuntiness compared to the rest of my mains that made the top this year but I think she more than makes up for it in the personality department!

8. Mileena - Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate

It's taking me a while longer to upgrade to MK1 because I'm broke, so I took as much advantage as I could of MK11U's final hours and my main girl is of course still my number one. I'm not sure who I'll pick in MK1 though... I feel like, for the first time since Deadly Alliance, Nitara may be the one..!

Happy Birthday Lighter!

Having a happy birthday seemed foreign to Lighter. For many years since the deaths of his friends, since the underground fighting ring, and even the day he became part of the Sons of Calydon, Lighter had no reason to celebrate the day of his birth.

For him, the day was a reminder that he still breathes while others haven't.

He did not try to celebrate this year as always. He was ready to do his job as Champion and sleep as soon as night fell. He never told the girls or anyone in Blazewood that it was his birthday. Big Daddy was the only person to know when he was born, and Lighter was avoiding him.

The kind boar Thiren had given Lighter a small birthday present once, but Lighter felt morose from seeing the gift. He should have been grateful, but it felt hollow knowing that Big Daddy knew who he was and what happened in his past.

"Please don't give me one next time," Lighter once said. "I don't deserve any gift. I'll keep this one, but I don't want anything next time."

Since then, Lighter hasn't seen any gifts given to him from Big Daddy. He was sure he was in the clear when he saw his bike and no one else, but then he saw Big Daddy. Lighter's eyes twitched knowing that the Thiren would definitely have something up his sleeves. He did not raise Caesar to not be a good leader after all.

Sighing, Lighter waved a small salute to Big Daddy as the Thiren nodded.

"Happy birthday, Lighter," Big Daddy said in a hushed tone. "You're free to do whatever you want for the day. Here's a couple of Dennies."

"Does Lucy or Caesar know?" Lighter asked.

"No, I just said that you needed a day after that one fight yesterday. I did not tell them about the fact that it was your birthday."

Lighter nodded. He could trust Big Daddy not to say anything to the girls, it was how they worked.

"So, where should I even go?" Lighter asked. "I don't even want to spend my birthday knowing that I can still make huge mistakes."

That made Big Daddy pat his shoulder.

"We've all made big mistakes," he sighed. "I know it hurts that you're here when you feel like you should've died with your old friends, but I am grateful that you're alive. You're family to me as much as the girls have been family."

Lighter purses his lips, but says nothing as he gets on his motorcycle. He knows where he wants to spend this birthday.

"I'll be at Lumina Square," he told Big Daddy.

The kind boar nodded and waved him goodbye.

Once Lighter made it to Lumina Square, he checked the amount of Dennies Big Daddy gave him. He bit his lips in annoyance when he saw that it was almost ten thousand Dennies. He wondered if he even deserved that much for just living another year.

Lighter walked around Lumina Square and set his eyes on the shopping market. It was the only place he knew he could find a nice birthday present to himself. The walk was calm and no one bothered him this time, but Lighter saw something that caught his eye. Actually, someone.

Billy was at the market.

Lighter tried to hide, but the android spotted him in time and dragged him to the market.

"You know," Billy started. "Big Daddy once told me it was your birthday, but he also said that you didn't like your birthdays. Don't worry, I understand, but you should try to spend something here."

"Did he tell you I was here?" Lighter panicked.

"Yes, but I didn't come here for you. I was here for a Monica picture book. Though, I want to help celebrate your birth. Even just a tiny bit."

Lighter groaned as they entered the market. He did not want to do anything, but he was not as strong as his senior when Billy wanted to do something. Surprisingly, it wasn't bad. Billy didn't force Lighter to do anything and just asked him what he had and bought it for him. The android was listening to Lighter and not talking over him. It was pleasant and a different type of experience for Lighter to see Billy doing something like this.

When the two got out after their small shopping spree, Billy sighed.

"Caesar's father gave me my birthday," Billy revealed. "I forgot when I was created and he just gave me my birthday. It was the day he bought me."

"I never knew that," Lighter said.

"I told the girls. I just kept it to myself. You know Lighter, back then, I didn't understand why I had to celebrate birthdays when I knew everyone around would just die. I only went along with it because Caesar's father ordered me to. After his disappearance, I thought I didn't have to do them anymore, but then the feeling of sadness rushed in on the first birthday without him. I didn't care for the day, but he did. He was a ruthless and ambitious man, but he did care about me. I was his Champion, and so I celebrate my birthdays just to feel less hollow because he gave me a chance to be someone."

Lighter looked at Billy more clearly. If he could cry, the old android would have tears running down his face in minutes. Lighter was once surprised to learn that he had a birthday, but now? He felt like hugging Billy.

And he did.

"Have a happy birthday, Lighter," Billy mumbled. "Trust me, there will be days that you don't to, but then you'll feel sad."

Billy left Lighter after some minutes. Lighter felt sad, but not for himself, he felt sad for Billy. He knew what type of man Caesar's father was through Big Daddy, but this was the first time he heard Billy talking about him. If a man like that could impact a killing machine to celebrate the day they met, then Lighter could try to see reason in spending his birthday.

Lighter made his way to the playground in Lumina Square when he saw Asaba Harumasa there. Like Billy, he tried to hide, but the archer had to have good eyesight.

"Well if it isn't Mr. Lighter!" Asaba called.

Lighter sighed as the man patted his shoulder.

"What's with the long face? Bad day?"

"My birthday," he bluntly said.

Asaba blinked his eyes and did it again. Then, he hung his arms around his shoulder as they walked around the playground talking about birthdays. Asaba went on about how he was always afraid of dying on his birthday while Lighter told him why he didn't like spending his. When the men went up to the railings, Asaba smiled and looked at him.

"I know it's not my place to say, but your old pals would hate you for not being happy," he told him. "They sounded like the best people ever. They wouldn't blame you for their deaths, and you shouldn't blame yourself for something like that. You trusted them. And trust is a hard thing to give because it's the easiest to break. Trust me on that. I've placed my trust in someone once, and now I can't even celebrate my own birthdays with that person."

"Harumasa," Lighter sighed.

"It's complicated," Harumasa started again. "But he's the reason, I'm even here. Alive. And despite everything, I'm not going to waste it because I want to live."

Before Lighter could say anything, Harumasa's phone rang. It was work and he had to leave.

"Have a happy birthday," he nodded.

Lighter went to the florist next and was going to buy his usuals. He knew what to do next, but he had another surprise. It was Wise and Eous.

"Hey, manager," Lighter called.

"Hello, Lighter," Wise smiled.

"Ehna!" Eous greeted.

The three started a conversation and Lighter somehow slipped that it was his birthday. Maybe it was the amount of people he met during the day, but he was ready to just celebrate it. Even if he ends it on a bittersweet note.

"Happy birthday," Wise said. "You know, I'm actually here to buy someone a small bouquet of roses. I could buy you your usual bouquet. I know why you might want those."

Lighter smiled. "I was going to see their graves. The ones I made. I know it's strange to do so, but I want to end this with my old pals."

"Belle and I used to do our birthdays with someone we thought was like a mother. She's not here anymore, but I suddenly had a dream where we were together again and I had to buy some for her. I understand all so well. It's hard, but you can't stop celebrating something because they're gone or else their memories will be gone."

Wise paid for their respective bouquets and nodded to Lighter.

"Please, live well for us," Wise said. "Have a happy birthday, Lighter."

Lighter smiled as they parted.

The way to their graves was a sad, but peaceful drive. He thought of Dane making the cake and his sister showering it in sprinkles, Nick was laughing at the mess they made and Ratenna was lighting the candles. Lighter was the center of it all. They were happy.

Lighter was not going to let this birthday be sad again. He knew they would celebrate his day.

The graves were clean as he left them, but he was met with another surprise, Dane's little sister was there.

"How?" he whispered.

"I just thought of you," she said. "I miss doing your birthdays. We had so much fun back then."

Lighter didn't hold back his tears and hugged her.

"I miss those days too," he cried.

They stayed that way until Lighter remembered the flowers. Lilies and forget-me-nots. All ready to be placed next to his old friends.

"You picked a lovely bouquet," she said.

"I had help, and I had so many people reminding me what birthdays truly mean."

"I'm grateful that they helped you. Dane, Nick, and Ratenna would hate it if you hate your birthdays because of this. We all know how dangerous those Hollows are, so I know that they would never ever blame you."

As Lighter placed the bouquet down, he felt phantom hands hugging him and patting his back. Almost as if the ghost of his friends were signaling him to celebrate his birthday again.

Lighter smiled as he got up and hugged the girl again.

"Happy Birthday, Lighter," she smiled.

Lighter nodded and looked towards the sky.
