LXW AU - little story fragments [#3]

I saw the thingy @timelessanimo did about this AU and i kept wanting to write something based on it ;v;

So I hope i managed to get a good glimpse of that scene 😗

Taiki, uncover the truth!?

Tagiru was quite agitated that morning, he was complaining about the fact one of the Legend Heroes appeared in front of him and beat Gumdramon with no mercy, took his goggles off and destroyed them in front of his eyes.

He was filled with a mix of rage and frustration, so he was quite babbling nonstop about how he wanted to make that guy pay him a new pair of goggles and apologize for what he had done. Taiki and Yuu had to endure this talk till they reached the school’s grounds, but before that…

… Taiki noticed someone was following them.

“I don’t want to fight anymore… Sorry.”

“That’s the opposite of what you were saying, Tagiru!!” Yuu hissed, “And this sounds something strange, why would one of those Legendary Heroes track you down and fight you!?”

“I dunno either! But… Aaah! I want to fight but I don’t want to at the same time!!”

“Tagiru I will make’em pay!!” Gumdramon roared from the Xros Loader, “It’s no fair appearing out of the blue and striking an attack on us!”

“You two should calm down…” Yuu sighed, but his glare at Tagiru and the device in the other’s hand did not disappear that easily, “... But, I heard from Nene and Kotone that there’s more attacks like these happening… Still, it’s strange, weren’t they supposed to be heroes ??”

“Beats me” Tagiru shrugged, “Wait, you said…??”

“Yeah, Nene and Kotone met another one…”

Taiki was not paying attention to their convo, he was so sure someone was following them. So he looked back quickly and…

… No one was there.

“Taiki-san?” Yuu asked with some concern, “Are you okay?”

“Oh… Erm, it’s nothing! It must have been a stray cat” Taiki looked back at the boys and chuckled nervously.

“... Ah I know what we can do!” Tagiru smiled, “Let’s ask the Mysterious Hunter to help us to beat the Legend Heroes! He… He was quite worried about what happened to me…”

“Hmm… I don’t know,” Yuu frowned, “Weren’t you and him always bickering and finding a reason to be turning everything into a competition?”

“Yeah, but this time it was different… I think he might not be a bad guy…”

“Not a bad guy…” Taiki repeated, whispering to himself. Then he thought -- Tagiru is attacked by a Legend Hero and then later he’s found by Mysterious Hunter…? This is too suspicious…

“Taiki-san, how about we meet later to discuss what we should do next?”

“A-ah, right…! I think Nene wants to talk to me too… Is she at your home, Yuu?”

“Yeah, she will be arriving tonight. Kotone might come with mom next week though…”

Who was following us? -- Taiki thought.

“YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUU OOOOOOOOOOOOLD HAAAAAAAAAAAAG!!”

Lance kicked the door of the clock shop with all of his strength and ire, making the others from the residence get a jumpscare. Lilithmon (with a human form, similar to her original one, but without wings and wearing casual clothes an adult woman would wear) snapped at the boy:

“GAAAH YOU ALMOST DESTROYED OUR DOOR YOU LITTLE HEATHEN!!”

“I DON’T CARE ABOUT THE FRIGGIN’ DOOR, I WANT TO KNOW WHY THE HECK THERE’S A COPY OF ME WANDERING AROUND!!”

They were picking a fight, but the old watchmaker stood in the middle of their fight and dragged the boy to the other room, closed the door and sighed.

“So?? What do you have to say about having a mini-me running around and messing up with innocent people!?” Lance asked again, staring at the old man.

“I’m sorry, that wasn’t in my plans…” he replied, nonchalantly, “I suppose Quartzmon has found someone else to pretend to be you.”

“Huh?? Whaddya mean!?”

“... I hope it’s not that digimon” he sighed again, then looked at the boy, “We have no time anymore, you have to form an alliance with Kudou Taiki right now. Or else… We might never beat Quartzmon.”

“Dude… I just… I just want to save him from that Quartzmon-guy! But… I can’t turn my back on everyone here either…”

“You’re a good person, Golden Heart. That’s why you’re our only hope to bring peace to the worlds and save the legends before it’s too late.”

“You shouldn’t feed his ego” A voice came from the sky blue Xros Loader, “He might get too much pressure and mess this up!!”

“H-Hey! I’m not… I know I don't work well under pressure, but don’t say it that way! I never mess things up on purpose!”

“See? He’s self-aware.”

“S-shut up…!!”

“Maybe you should… Talk with Kudou Taiki now.”

“Maybe I shouldn’t be doing this…” he pouted, and headed back to the store, “Stalkin’ others is wrong, very wrong…”

“But you have to talk with Taiki, don’t ya?” the voice from the Xros Loader talked to him.

“Yeah, maybe… I can do that later? Without stalking, just… Hope they pass by. A-ah, my job! I have to work now, I can’t waste my time here…!!”

“Um… I wish we were at home, studying culinary and going to class…”

“...”

“B-but I don’t want to make you sad! Cheer up, we might find him soon!! We just need…”

“... to form an alliance with Kudou Taiki, yeah yeah I know.”

They decided to wait until Taiki went to buy something at the konbini. But that couldn’t help enough… Taiki passed by the store, but didn’t get in. And if the old man was correct…

So then…

Taiki parted ways with Yuu and Tagiru, and on his way to home he felt someone was stalking him again. Taiki kept walking quickly but he was so sure who was following him. He kept walking until he reached a point and used Time Shift on an empty alley.

Seconds later, he heard the same sound of a Time Shift gate opening and he and his stalker stood in front of each other.

“I don’t like being followed so how about you show yourself and tell me what you want…”

He stared at the other human,

“... ‘Mysterious Hunter’.”

According to Taiki’s theories, the suspicion that the Mysterious Hunter was the one who attacked Tagiru with his real identity was getting more concrete evidence little by little.

This wasn’t good for the other party though…

“You’re one of them, am I correct?” Taiki continued, “You attacked Tagiru, right Lance Goldheart…?”

“...”

He removed his hood.

“Or should I say…”

“… Motomiya Daisuke?”

“We need to talk, Kudou Taiki,” the light of the Digiquartz sky reflected on the orange shades, “And no, I’m not the one who attacked Akashi. It was someone else, you have to believe me.”

“... You were spying on us, weren’t you?”

“... Yeah, but not for who you think it is…!” Daisuke replied seriously, “Also, we’re in danger. And we’re the only ones able to save this world and the others.”

“Huh…?”

“YOU!!” Shoutmon called, and then got out of the Xros Loader, “I won’t let you hurt Taiki!!”

“H-hey chill! I’m not the bad guy here!” he babbled, “Someone stole my face! And using it against me.”

“What do ya mean?” Shoutmon asked. He was still in position to fight in case Daisuke did something.

“It’s impossible that you casually found Tagiru that time,” Taiki said nonchalantly, “You were around when that happened…”

“... You got me there” he shrugged, “But yeah, I saw the copycat and went after him, but then he attacked Akashi and I lost his track. I’m still mad that that faker used my face against one of you kids and I heard there’s more attacks like these happening… And I don’t like that!”

“I see…”

“Especially when my mission was to find Taichi-senpai and bring him back home.”

“Oh…?” Shoutmon blinked, “Ah, I forgot there’s one world with two legends in it…”

“W-WHY EVERYONE FORGETS THAT I EXIST!?” he pouted “First the bad guy skips me because he forgot I was from Taichi-senpai’s world, now you…” he was whining, yeah.

“But if we’re the only ones able to save everyone…” Taiki mused, “What do you intend to do?”

“We… We have to form an alliance,” Daisuke replied, “Or it was what the ol’ man told me to do…”

“Old man?” Taiki raised an eyebrow, “One with a clockmon?”

“Yeah, that ol’ man.”

“I don’t think we should trust that old guy, Taiki…” Shoutmon replied. Then, he looked at Daisuke “Didn’t you have a digimon partner too?”

“Ah…? He’s right here,” then Daisuke showed the Xros Loader, “V-mon, are you hearing me?”

“YUP! But… Haha… I can’t do much here… Sorry pal!”

“Q-quit sassing me!!”

“Interesting that you have a Xros Loader like us…” Taiki commented with some curiosity on that detail, “Did the same old man give it to you, like he had given one to Tagiru and to the others??”

“Uhh, sorta? I had this thing when I came here… And V-mon cannot evolve normally too, But this thing made the Digimentals of Courage and Friendship take the form of V-mon’s armor evolution forms…”

“I see…”

“A-anyway we have to form this alliance! The Xros Heart might be the only way to stop Quartzmon’s plans.”

“Hmm… What plans?”

“Long story, I’ll explain everythin’ but since this fake Daisuke is runnin’ amok… We have to do it quickly.”

“Alright, I will contact Nene and Kiriha and tell them what you told me. Could you leave some way for me to contact you?”

“I guess the Xros Loader can work as some sort of walkie-talkie…?”

Taiki took his Xros Loader and synchronized it with Daisuke’s, then got him added to the contact list there, “Done.”

“Phew, I thought this would be harder to deal with but it was easy,” Daisuke chuckled in relief.

“But why are you hiding yourself?” Shoutmon asked, “I mean, before the fake Golden Heart appeared?”

“.... V-mon and I were being hunted by the baddies too” he confessed, then he put the hoodie on and covered his mouth with the blue scarf, “I’m still not sure if it is safe to walk around as ‘me’ y’know?”

“I get it now…” Taiki nodded sagely, “All the pieces are making sense… But, if you’re in danger this means I’m also a target, correct?” Daisuke nodded his head, “Then, joining forces would not only help us to beat the enemy, but our allies would protect us from getting caught.”

“Yeah, wow you’re seriously a genius kiddo.”

“I think that’s more common sense than genius,” Shoutmon scratched his head.

While they talked… The strange old watchmaker watched them from a distance with Hideaki. This satisfied themselves, knowing that now they could beat Quartzmon and bring everything back to normal.

But… Would it work?

“I wasn’t doing anything!” And... the cool thing with the transforming prehensile hair went away in a flash... having quickly paused the show she was watching and turned it off just as quickly as possible. Explaining she was watching an Ecchi anime was going to be bad enough as it was...

Honestly though... she did weird things like that all the time when nobody else was looking... so it wasn’t anything new.

We get asked the question a lot, “Which sleeping mats will fit my Malamoo or Speedy pop-up tent?” Well, the short answer is ‘it depends’. It depends on what model tent you have for a start – they range in size from 2 to 4 person – and what type of sleeping mat you prefer.

Being the scientific folk we are, we recently ran an experiment to get to the bottom of this question. You see, tent and sleeping mat dimensions only tell part of the story. Tent shapes vary, with curved corners in particular cutting off valuable bed space. Also, because the walls of most tents are angled, this reduces the usable vertical space.

Our experiment was pretty simple, really. We took our entire pop up tent range out into the Snowys car park, set each one up – took only seconds for each, of course – and checked a range of our most popular sleeping mats for size.

Conditions on the day were clear and warm. The coordinator of the experiment was Ben Collaton, better known as Snowys resident lightweight gear geek.

I provided photographic and mat-handling support, and gasps and laughter as Ben tried on his best yoga moves to fold up the Wayfarer.

What about space for storing gear?

You’ll note the backpacks in the graphic. This indicates that you can also fit a small amount of gear. No backpacks – it’s a tight fit. I’m not talking your camp kitchen and car fridge, but rather small personal essentials – stuff you might want to keep safe and dry.

You can increase your gear storage space by reducing your sleeping space. For example, the Speedy 3 / Sahara take 3 hiking-style sleeping mats.

Remove one and you have a whole heap more space to play with. Also note, a few of the tents have vestibules that can accommodate even more gear.

LXW AU - little story fragments

So uhh... This is a compilation for the Legend Xros Wars AU I've been working all again since last year, lol. Those drabbles might be small scenes of the main plot document linked here, or just random cute and funny shenanigans.

Caught in the rain

Tagiru hated rainy days. Especially when some random digimon is on the loose causing issues and now that he had become a Digimon Hunter affiliated to the Xros Heart group, he couldn’t let this one escape and keep running amok. Deep down he hated to receive orders, but he was a good and well behaved kid. And he had spotted the Mysterious Hunter person all again, and something made him want to talk to that dude.

Maybe to ask who he is, or why he wants Tagiru to form an alliance with him and Kudou Taiki. (though that was all part of a dream, obviously he would think Tagiru is a weird kid…)

“Tagiru, that digimon entered the DigiQuartz, hurry!” he heard Yuu’s voice coming from the crimson XrosLoader.

“Stop giving me orders!” Tagiru didn’t say that to Yuu, but he growled. Besides, he can’t do two things at the same time -- one hand was holding his umbrella, the other the XrosLoader “Argh, Gumdramon hurry up!!”

“I’m going I’m going!” the small digimon replied, but being small means he was a little slower than a 13 year old, “Geez, give me a ride then!”

“*Sigh* sure, sure…” Tagiru stopped and let the digimon jump on his arms, then he sped up again. Gumdramon helped by holding the umbrella, with Tagiru holding him with that arm now. They both looked at the map popping in the shape of a hologram and kept following the directions.

“Tagiru, where are you??” Yuu asked, there was some impatience in his voice, “We can’t deal with this Triceramon without your help!!”

“Wait, where…?? Where’s the digimon we were running after then?” Gumdramon raised an eyebrow, then glanced at Tagiru, “We weren’t after a Triceramon… Right?”

“We were after-- Oh shoot if Yuu’s in danger Taiki-san will murder me!” and he opened the entrance to the DigiQuartz.

Actually… Tagiru was after a digimon he didn’t know which was. But don’t worry about it. With Tagiru, Yuu and Taiki’s help… They beat the Triceramon and Yuu and returned home. However, the digimon Tagiru and Gumdramon were after…

… was facing someone else instead.

“I won’t go with a digimon hunter! Never!” the Yukidarumon shouted, clenching fists and in the offensive position. Ready to attack, the hooded human in front of him seemed a little tense.

“I’m not like those kids!” Mysterious Hunter said, “I don’t want to hunt you for fun, I want to keep you safe from those hunters! I’m a good guy here!”

“Liar!” and then Yukidarumon tried to freeze him with their right fist. Fladramon, the digimon ally of that person, stood in front of the human and burned Yukidarumon’s hand “Ack!” the opponent stepped back.

“Y-you hurt them, don’t do that…” the boy babbled in panic, “B-but they tried to freeze me, so…”

“If you’re not the enemy, then why you--”

“No hard feelings Ok? I’ll have to use brute force this time” and he took the sky blue XrosLoader, “Go, Fladramon…!”

Fladramon was mute for some strange reason, and it followed that order. The draconic digimon was fast and shot fireballs against Yukidarumon, who tried to stop them by shooting the same number of ice balls. With the shock of the ice against the fire, a mist was made. This was the fugitive digimon’s mistake. Fladramon took advantage of it and performed a Fire Rocket faster than Yukidarumon could defend themself.

The data of the beaten opponent loaded to the digivice, which would restore the mon’s data and heal them.

“Good job,” a voice came from the XrosLoader, “You could’ve done that first. Have you become… Softer?”

“S-shut up, I don’t want to hurt anyone here!” Mysterious Hunter snorted, “B-besides I’m old enough to not jump into a fight quickly!”

“Really…? The young ‘you’ would’ve complained about it~~”

“Whatever… Did you heal already?”

“Ugh… Not yet, sorry… But you got Fladramon and Lighdramon's help! You’re in good hands, take it easy~”

“Yeah… Thank you, anyway.”

“Ah, one warning… Don’t open the TimeShift right here because--”

He opened it, and he ended up falling on the cold puddle rainwater from the “outside”.

“-- You’re right under a puddle… ”

“Ugh… I’m soaked!!”

The next day felt less gloomy and more sunny. The hot weather of the summer made most of the puddles evaporate and the soaked ground dry. Tagiru got up for school, but a little late due to his strange dream and decided to stop by at the konbini on the way to class.

He entered and noticed that mysterious yet friendly employee there sniffing. The young boy frowned -- did Lance get caught by the rain last night when going home? Well, he had a medical mask on so…

“Uh… Are you OK?”

“*snif* sigh…” He looked at Tagiru “Y-yeah, uh… Yesterday it rained a lot h-huh??”

“Um… We’re in the rainy season…” Tagiru said, putting the sandwiches he was planning to purchase on the cashier desk, “So it’s normal… Ah, you might not be used to it right?”

“Uhh… No?” That sounded like a lie. And he’s bad at lying… “But it doesn’t matter, the sun is out and it will be a great day…” he whispered something next “If I can find him already…”

“Huh?” Tagiru frowned, as he watched Lance read the barcodes

“N-nothing,” he chuckled nervously.

“Uh, okay…?”

Once Tagiru had paid and left, he sat on the floor and sighed deeply. Also sneezed again.

“Man… How long can I keep doing this until I find him …” he whispered, taking the sky blue XrosLoader from his pocket, “Hey bud… Did ya recover already…?”

“Snore…”

“Y-you’re sleepin’ while I’m workin’ all alone here!?” Lance snapped like a certain person would do.

Tagiru and Yuu sat with Taiki on a secret spot on the building’s roof. They were discussing the current digimon business they were running at the moment. But Tagiru felt a little distant… Yuu called him back to Earth:

“Tagiru, are you listening to us?”

“A-ah?? Uh… Uhhh…” the boy blinked, “I was just thinking… I saw another digimon that night too, but I couldn’t go after it.”

“Another digimon?” Taiki, Yuu, and their digimon repeated.

“Yeah, big and… round…?”

“Big and round…”

“But then Yuu called me and I lost it!!”

“Then it’s my fault now??” Yuu squinted his eyes at Tagiru, annoyed.

“I’m not saying it is” Tagiru stared at him, “I only said that there was another digimon around!”

“Guys, don’t fight please” Taiki interrupted them, calmly and with a serious tone. No wonder he was the head of their team, “Another digimon… Did you meet that hooded guy too?”

“H-huh?” Tagiru then frowned, “I… I did see him running after the same digimon but they disappeared…”

“Hmm…”

“Maybe he got that digimon then” Gumdramon pouted like a kid, “Aw I wanted to fight that one…”

“We will have more digimon to fight and catch, don’t worry!” Tagiru smiled, but then he dropped that smile, “... Do you think that person is our rival?”

“Beats me,” Damemon shrugged.

“Taiki and I will keep an eye on him,” Shoutmon responded, looking at his partner.

“That’s right… For now let’s keep focusing on solving the digimon cases around the town.”

“Right!” Tagiru, Gumdramon, Yuu and Damemon said together with a nod.

After school… Another digimon had been spotted causing fuss. This time a Digitamamon running amok destroying restaurants for not making the correct way to cook certain dishes, and forcing those people to work on that digimon’s way.

Of course this felt like the recipe for a disaster, so they have to come catch that digimon before things go south.

It was when…

“STOP THERE, DIGITAMAMON--!!”

Tagiru and Gumdramon saw it attacking a ramen cart, but then Digitamamon ran away. They ran and chased the digi-opponent through the streets until they stopped under a bridge.

They all were out of energy (Except Gumdramon, who this time decided to stay inside the XrosLoader) -- Tagiru was definitely exhausted.

“How dare-- you ruin-- my lectures!?” Digitamamon said, with long pauses due to exhaustion.

“This won’t end well…” the boy thought, and then he said aloud after catching a breath, “Everyone… Everyone has their own way to make the same friggin recipe, don’t you know!?”

“But cooking is art! If you can’t follow the recipes correctly--”

“It’s not true!!” Gumdramon got out of the digivice and stood in front of Tagiru, “Changing small details or altering the portion won’t damage the art!”

“What do you understand about the art of cooking!?”

“... I know how to eat. That’s all.”

“How much time do we have left until Taiki-san and Yuu come here?” Tagiru muttered, a little panicked.

“Stay back, Tagiru” Gumdramon warned him, “Evolve me so I can crack that eggshell and make an omelet.”

“I’m NOT an egg!!” Digitamamon growled, “Also this is NOT an eggshell!!”

“IT’S NOT AN EGGSHELL!?” Tagiru shouted in surprise.

“Of course it’s not!!” A voice came from the horizon, but coughing. They looked to the direction the voice came and saw the Mysterious Hunter there, riding on Lighdramon.

“Y-you’re here!?” Gumdramon blinked.

“That thing is their exoskeleton *cough*”

“H-how do you know that??!” both Tagiru and Gumdramon asked him.

“D-don’t ask me that!!” he jumped to the ground and pointed at the Digitamamon, “Digitamamon, you should surrender and stop attacking people, the passion for cooking is… *cough cough* Is improvising recipes and making new flavors!!”

“... Are you okay?” Tagiru asked, “You’re a little… odd today…”

“I-I’m fine!” he snorted, “Now, Lighdramon… Catch it!”

Lighdramon ran quickly and started baffling Digitamamon. Tagiru was finding that strange, but okay sure… Maybe Hunter got caught by the rain too… He took his XrosLoader and joined the battle, evolving Gumdramon into Arresterdramon.

“Let’s see who will hunt that digimon then!!” Tagiru challenged the other, “Arresterdramon!”

“Right!”

Digitamamon wouldn’t have any problem protecting themself from those two -- The exoskeleton would protect him, so the duo couldn’t do much… Except Arresterdramon has a phantom-like attack, and Lighdramon had the best speed and stunting skills. They would have to worry if either of the partner-mons attacked inside their exoskeleton.

Nightmare Syndrome was released against them, though like said before, this wasn’t that effective, because Arresterdramon used his phantom-like abilities, while Lighdramon dodged due to his excellent agility. The tough ‘shell’ couldn’t be hit by either Lighdramon and Arresterdramon, so the Mysterious Hunter person used past experiences to beat the not-egg-mon.

“Attack, Lighdramon! Aim at the Nightmarish blob-thing!!”

“W-what?” Tagiru exclaimed, “What are you planning to do??”

Lighdramon used Blue Thunder on that ghost-like ‘attack’ trying to smash both him and Arresterdramon, but Arresterdramon was caught by accident too. Digitamamon growled in pain and his data was transferred to the sky blue XrosLoader.

“H-Huh!? How!?” Tagiru blinked, “How did you--”

“Another one saved!! Oh, it’s a Digitamamon!! Like our friend!”

Tagiru and Arresterdramon were too in shock to hear that that voice. Tagiru’s partner devolved back to Gumdramon and stopped next to his tamer.

“Who… Who are you?” Tagiru asked the hooded guy.

Then, the Mysterious Hunter removed his scarf from his face…

“?!!?!”

… And there was a medical facial mask under it. Tagiru and Gumdramon were judging that ‘funny’ idiot inside their minds.

“H-HEY THAT’S NOT FAIR!!” Tagiru yelled angrily, “I ASKED POLITELY!! WHO ARE YOU!?”

Then the mysterious figure mounted on Lighdramon and disappeared.

“Seriously… Who are you?” Tagiru muttered.
