i had this crazy dream of escaping a planet on Virtue's Thief with 4X trying to leap on before Eva pulled up to avoid a bunch of buildings. Bad-ass action scene, Zakuulans freaking out everywhere.
I have nowhere to put this right now.

M1-4X's companion conversations are so funny. He tells you all about these high profile Imperials he's going to go kill, and you're just like "that's great buddy, have fun:)"

M1-4X should be nicknamed 'Max' not '4X'. Just my opinion.

Playing Trooper on Rishi and got a letter from M1-4X which I'm pretty sure makes him the only base game companion to send you a letter when not romances

For your SWTOR consideration
M1-4X is voiced by Tom Kane, who uses that same (for lack of better term) cadence for Fourex as he does for Clone Wars start-of-episode summaries.
So, what if Fourex retells (sometimes debriefs) missions of the Trooper and Havoc Squad in that EXACT fashion. (Not me planning this for my fic). Even later on when they go missing, and re-united he tells missions Trooper missed in the this style.

reiterating off my tangent about a potential SWTOR themed cafe with foods representing the eight classes, I decided to come up with a fake menu for fun:
• Sith Inquisitor // Force Ghost Cereal in Lord Kallig's Helmet: Liquid nitrogen infused cereal puffs (with fog!) can be eaten out of a specialty treat bucket shaped after Lord Kallig's infamous helmet, producing a spooky and atmospheric effect of a spirit coming out of this sith lord's vessel. Comes with sweet black licorice flavor and purple yam flavor. The helmet can be washed and taken home as a keepsake.
• Imperial Agent // Castellan Restraint Cocktail with Serum IX Syrup: Non-alcoholic. Inject IX serum (kiwi syrup) into your blue curacao cocktail over fizzy lemonade and ice and blend. Comes with a monaka wafer of Watcher X's face and a red crosshair white chocolate decorative piece. Must be ordered with the secret keyword: onomatophobia.
• Sith Warrior // K'lor Slug Spaghetti al Nero: Black squid-ink spaghetti adorned with parsley, red ginger, and Korriban temple decorative pyramid wafers engraved with Sith teachings. Comes with a side of K'lor slug (one lobster tail) grilled with drawn butter to perfection. Worthy of any Sith Lord.
• Bounty Hunter // Grand Hunt Spicy Flamethrower Curry with 3-meat Skewers: Mandalorian emblem shaped pilaf rests atop hot curry with numerous spices, carrot, and potato in this hearty hunter's meal. 3 different kinds of meat skewers with 3 clan flags (ordo, viszla, lok) are supplied on the side with spicy mala dipping sauce held in a bounty hunter's bracer.
• Jedi Knight // Knight's Lightsaber Rolled Crepe: A crepe rolled into the shape of a lightsaber and drizzled generously with blue raspberry sauce, filled with fresh cream, konpeito, and berries. The mild sweet taste and galactic theme is reminiscent of the light side. The wrapping paper comes with a special print design of various Knight NPCs.
• Jedi Consular // Meditation Tea with Raindrop Cake: Fresh black tea is served aside a clear raindrop cake with dark kuromitsu sugar on one half of the plate and light kinako soybean flour on the other half, signifying the dark and light. The consular's mind is empty, yet draws on these forces, much like the cake. Which will you choose?
• Smuggler // Scattergun Sundae: Dual blaster monaka wafers adorn this loaded sundae (matcha, coffee, and vanilla) with broken glass (cracked sugar candies), blue milk pudding, and chocolate credit pieces, all in a waffle cup. Comes with a paper standee of the XS stock light freighter.
• Trooper // Republic Rationed Lunchbox Meal: Open a special box container modeled after M1-4X to eat themed rations of Mantellian beef stew, Coruscant croquettes (cream and corn), and Taris rakghoul-green wheat bread. The box comes with backpack straps and can be cleaned and worn as such.
#swtor#you can tell i ran out of steam by trooper ahahaha#anyways.#which one is your favorite?#i got inspired by capcom + eorzea cafe..... so jealous.....

Up to Muster, Chapter 9: Keeping Up Appearances
Rating: T
Pairing: Theron Shan/Smuggler
AO3 Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/62343637/chapters/164460880
Quick quote:
Theron was having a rather torrid affair with the caf carafe when Eva came into the galley. “Anything left for me?”
Theron pushed her a travel mug he’d pre-poured for her. “Should be drinking temp by now.”
C2 bustled into the galley. “Captain, we are on final approach to Odessen. Virtue’s Thief has exchanged handshakes, and we are now queued to enter orbit.”
“Who’s ahead of us?” Eva asked, taking a sip of her caf.
C2 paused as he looked up the information. “There are several shuttles with Republic and Imperial marks hastily scraped off. I believe your intel and namedropping with Admiral Aygo has had its desired effect: we have more Yavin veterans.”
Theron high-fived Eva, even as they both clutched their morning caf. “I hope you talked to 4X?”
“He’s going to try to convert them rather than kill them,” Eva told him.
Theron made a face. “They might want him to kill them instead. Or they might want the mercy kill after he gives them his pitch.”

SWTOR Companion Thoughts

Fuse should have been an option instead of Vik because Vik doesn't care about anyone but himself. Also, it would have been such a good place for Fuse to get a redemption ark. He already recognized that he fucked up and if we're like "Oh we need an explosive expert" why not give Fuse a second chance? Because Aric is correct here in that Vik doesn't belong and we're basically being like "Oh you were dishonorably discharged just kidding you gotta come with me on this dangerous mission." I also personally really don't vibe with Vik either. But if we're going to have someone who doesn't clash with the team why not have Fuse come back? As a character I potentially already know his flaws, I know his past, I know him. The others can not get along with him because he was a traitor. He has that clash and the level of distrust that they are also presenting here with Vik.
I have a lot of thoughts so I'm gonna add a little line so I'm not just "hey here's a wall of text" lol
For Vik-
He doesn't get along with Aric- because he doesn't follow orders and he doesn't actually want to be apart of the team.
He probably doesn't get along with M1-4X because that is the most Republic loving droid I've ever met and Vik is just here for himself. Yeah he uses that energy against the imperials but it's still
I can almost guarantee he doesn't get along with Elara Dorne because she is the most by the book companion. It's been a minute since I've played the trooper story but I bet he'd make some comments about her defecting from the Empire. Or her accent. Just like almost everyone on Taris was doing when we recruit her.
I personally don't see any growth happening with Vik because he doesn't want to.
BUT for Fuse he does. He wants that growth.
Aric will not get along with him and will distrust him until Fuse proves himself loyal again. Something major likely would have to happen for Aric to fully trust Fuse again but if Fuse puts in the work Aric will eventually trust him.
I'm not sure how M1-4X would react to Fuse. Fuse would have to help with the demoralization issue or something. But I do believe that it's another Fuse has to earn this companion's trust.
Once a level of trust was established I believe that Elara Dorne and Fuse would likely bond over the betrayal of their governments. They both have defected from their home governments. And Fuse has realized the error of his ways.
The companion quest/dialogue through out the Trooper story would be him addressing the hurt of the betrayal that he and the original Havoc squad had gone through. The abandonment of the senate. Also, the atrocities that he witnessed. It would also give the Trooper the option of reestablishing and working through Fuse's betrayal.
Now I get that there's a choice to either save Fuse or go after the bomb schematics that the he designed. If you don't save Fuse he wouldn't be an option. But that could easily be replaced with either saving civilians from a bombing or going after the schematics. Because that had kind of been the whole theme on Tatooine. You still have a moral choice to make in the story so you can either get your light side/ dark side.
I may or may not have fanfic thoughts about this trooper so I may explore this as a thought. But I have SO MANY fanfics that I've started and I'm like "this is going to be a long fic" and I'm like oh snap I gotta write the next chapter. They're not even all on my AO3.
#swtor spoilers#trooper swtor#just swtor things#blab#I had so many thoughts about this I guess#I'm romancing Aric Jorgan this time so I maybe should side with him.#Not that I've sided with him on everything#but I don't disagree with this screen shot

Can't write to save my life right now but I am full of character thoughts again, this one for my trooper in Caibos' universe:
Vasha Bannley's time in Havoc Squad starts bad and gets worse. Originally a wide-eyed kid who genuinely thinks joining the army will make the galaxy a better place, she breezes past the events of Ord Mantell with the blithe conviction that, since she's not a bad person, nothing Tavus said or did has any possible implications for her. Then she slams up against the wall that is Garza's more awful orders, and things go downhill from there.
Vasha joined the army because her idol/childhood friend/babysitter was a soldier, and she wanted to follow in her footsteps. (In a twist of me being an asshole writer, Kayva deserted from the army, disillusioned, on the very day Vasha joined up; she's my smuggler in this universe.) Vasha is a talented mechanic/droid technician, and pretty much always has some small probe or recon droid following her around ostensibly for scouting purposes but mostly because they're her precious little buddies. She finds her droids easier to talk to than her squad - with the exception of M1-4X, notably also a droid, she has a variety of reasons relating to her growing disillusionment to put up walls between herself and her fellow soldiers.
The first nail in the coffin is early, when Garza asks her to kill Coruscanti citizens who may be a threat. Vasha obeys, because she has to believe Garza knows best and wouldn't make such a call if she hadn't exhausted all other options, and spends the rest of her life hating that she did. Each subsequent order or choice like that draws her further from that naive kid she used to be. She finds out that Kayva left the army midway through this, and is furious that Kayva would leave rather than fight to make the army better - at this point, though she sees how bad things are, she's still clinging to the idea she can change things. By the end of the class story, though, Vasha fully believes there's no saving the army, but also that this is the only kind of work she's good for anymore. Thanks to her technical expertise she actually ends up tapped for the SIS, where she continues to make morally dubious choices but can no longer blame them on Garza's orders.
It's not until the Alliance era that she reconciles with Kayva, her old squad, and herself. Working alongside Koth helps and hurts at the same time - they relate on many levels, but she envies the level of hope and conviction he clings to, even if it is placed in Valkorion of all people. Slowly, as he figures out more about his one-time ruler and she adjusts to working for a much kinder boss, they help each other find a way to move past those hurts.

(Hide and Seek) Forced Companions Daycare, 011
On FRIDAYS, FCD is staffed by KHEM VAL and SCORPIO. SCORPIO: Now, children. It is time for hide and seek. This is a matter of the utmost importance if you wish to survive long enough to come into your own as fighters. Yuun, you will be our hunter. BABY AKAAVI: There is no honor in that. It isn't fair at all. SCORPIO: Neither is life. Adapt. KHEM VAL: As children are found, they will join the hunt. The last child to be found will win the comfort of knowing that in case of emergency, he or she will be the last to die. SCORPIO: That child will also be awarded a cookie. KHEM VAL: Why? SCORPIO: An immediate motivation will prompt the children to try harder. Death is abstract. Cookies are concrete. The children scatter to hide. BABY YUUN makes a series of bizarre noises that might be construed as counting. After he reaches a long creak and a series of descending clicks, he uncovers his eyes and starts looking around. Within seconds he makes a beeline for the enormous rulebook in the corner. BABY ELARA is hiding behind it. BABY ELARA: ...oh. BABY YUUN: You always hide there. BABY ELARA: One of these days the rulebook will actually protect me. BABY YUUN turns to face BABY BROONMARK, who is sitting in the middle of the playroom floor, his ludicrously outsize fur puffing all around him. BABY YUUN: You have also been found. BABY BROONMARK: Blllorp. BABY YUUN: Traditionally one hides, for hide and seek. And now you must come seek with us. BABY BROONMARK, not moving: Blllorp. BABY ELARA: It's the rules, Broonmark. BABY BROONMARK: Raaargh! BABY ELARA: Or you can stay there. BABY YUUN and BABY ELARA walk slowly around the room, looking. BABY YUUN: The signs are confused. The smell of superiority is strong on Risha, but it crosses and crisscrosses with similar smells in this place. BABY ELARA: We could just put a pile of credits out in the open and wait for her to come running. A hopeful gasp is heard from the toy bin. BABY YUUN: You have been found, Risha. BABY RISHA emerges from under the pile of toys, pushing past M1-4X and making a face. BABY ELARA: Who does that leave us? BABY YUUN: Talos, for one. BABY RISHA: I bet Talos is hiding in Broonmark's fur again. He always hides in Broonmark's fur. BABY TALOS, muffled: It's warm. But nobody's hiding in here. Nope. Not me. BABY RISHA, giggling: I think two-thirds of Broonmark's weight is fur. KHEM VAL: He will grow into the fur. In time he may grow to be a powerful and minimally allergenic warrior, like those I contended with on the battlefields of Yn and Chabosh. BABY BROONMARK: Raaargh! BABY YUUN: You have been found, Talos. Come with us. The children continue. BABY YUUN: We hear no signs in the air. BABY TALOS, hopefully: Maybe the scary Zabrak ran away forever? BABY AKAAVI drops from the ceiling and starts efficiently beating the seekers, knocking BABY YUUN to the ground in a matter of seconds, simultaneously pulling BABY RISHA's and BABY ELARA's hair, and staring at BABY TALOS until he falls over in terror. KHEM VAL: Akaavi. This is hide and seek, not hide and ambush. BABY AKAAVI: There is a time to hide, and a time to fight. This is the time to fight. BABY AKAAVI, keeping her stare firmly on KHEM VAL, kicks backward to kneecap a charging BABY BROONMARK. She thrusts an elbow back to jab him as he falls, then steps aside to let him crash to the ground. BABY AKAAVI: If there are others to compete, let them come. The petty social niceties of hide and seek will not protect them. KHEM VAL: I think she wins. SCORPIO: This one will go far. SCORPIO hands BABY AKAAVI a large cookie. BABY AKAAVI: This cookie will bring honor to my clan. KHEM VAL: No, it won't. It's a cookie. SCORPIO: You understand very little of the sentient psyche, Khem.
