Leonardo de Magiccard

A great design for Leo came to me while I was moving plants now that it's not going to be quite so cold.

The character and art is from Jenna Moran's work, particularly Fortitude: the Glassmaker's Dragon, which you can find on Drive Thru RPG here.

I'm not sure if I should have given him the Human creature type; I think he might be offended to be labeled as merely a human.

For the non Magic people, Madness is an ability that lets you cast the card when you discard it instead of it going to the graveyard. In Magic, the cards in your head are kinda flavored as your mind/thoughts, so discarding is metaphorically adjacent to pulling it out of your your dreams. Artifacts are devices and gizmos, like the things he creates. Equpment is a kind of artifact that you put onto creatures, usually to make them better

The second ability is essentially a written out version of the "Living Weapon" ability Magic uses to represent equipment that is in some sense alive in and of itself. There are a variety of ways to show how Leonardo's creations are alive in a creepy way but equipment is a unique one for a blue black card so I went for novelty.

I'm not sure I'm totally happy with where I ended up on how the first ability works. If it was just the mana value it would be too easy to combo off, if it was a low fixed value then it would be too good at cheating big stuff in, if it was too high then it's not good enough with the cheap stuff. I've just thought of another way to word it but I'm washing my hands of this endeavor. (cost equal to X{U/B} where X is the mana value?)

There wasn't enough room to really show how nightmare science is fragile or any of Leonardo's Blasphemy, etc.
