Agate - how my muse calms down

That depends on the situation.

There are plenty of situations where Steffi would insist she doesn't need to calm down - she considers anger and frustration to be perfectly valid, and in some cases would even argue that calming down prematurely would be bending to someone else's will. In those times, she'll only calm down once whatever emotion she was feeling has run its course, and/or she feels that whoever the emotion was directed at has learned their lesson.

If she's decided that her anger and/or frustration do need to be released in some other way, feeding or hooking up can help, though those aren't always convenient options - which is why she's a fan of punching bags.

If the emotion she needs to calm down from is something other than anger or frustration (i.e. sadness), she'll usually channel that emotion into anger and then go about calming down in the ways described above.

You’re exasperating, you know that? Allie signed angrily to her younger brother, obviously getting frustrated with the situation at hand. She had invited him over that evening so that they could have some dinner together, but she had forgotten that it was always such a challenge for them to decide on anything. So far, it had been two hours, and they were no closer to figuring out if they were ordering in or going out. Can you just decide please, before I start getting hangry? You don’t want to be on the receiving end of my hangry-ness.

“Need help?” David looked at the paper as the woman explained. “Well, you seem really nice, and really capable–but unfortunately I don’t have any animals to take care of. I really like this flier though,” it had a charm to it that made him smile. “Do you mean like, all animals? Like if someone had an elephant that would be no problem for you?”

“Not everyone can talk to animals so they don’t know what’s wrong. I talk to them.” Jane had spoken to all sorts of animals. She had made sure they stayed safe in her village and they were always nice to her. “All of them, bugs too. I’ve never met an elephant before but if it’s an animal I can talk to them.” She considered the situation. “Do you want an animal? I always have animals looking for new homes.”
