The Citadel/the Faith are SO getting destroyed in the grand finale of ASOIAF, magic has returned with Daenerys’s dragons and it’s all we need to know about the Catholic church’s fate.

This is not projection. GRRM clearly constructs the Faith of the Seven as an empty religion that does not produce any ‘miracles’, a direct contrast to religions based on naturalistic magic. A clear foil is established between the magic of the Valyrians/First Men/Drowned God/R’hllor vs the hollowness (anti-magic) of the Faith, which is upheld by the Hightowers. We are not meant to support GRRM’s version of the Catholic church (& its violent misogyny, but that’s a discussion for another day).

True. We aren't supposed to unironically or sincerely support any principle the Seven creates, develops, or endorses and it is the only religion in the entire known universe that has no "miracles" or magical ability to given/performed by any of its followers. I don't know if the institution and the religion itself will be destroyed. Because even if the Sistine Chapel or all the bishops, priests, nuns, etc. of our own world were mysteriously disappeared, there'd still be the worshippers and their memories and historical records of cathedra, Romanesque, etc. building plans, etc. Catholicsm would still exist, so the Faith and this miracle-less religion and the concept of the Seven gods themselves would exist of the Sept of Baelor and other important septs were obliterated. As for the Citadel (THE maester hub) and home to the grandest library of the Seven kingdoms, again, as long as people have their memory and some other records the maesters kept in various houses as well as copies of certain tomes, they can restore some measure of a "Citadel".

Now will there be some sort of destruction done against either the Citadel or the KL Sept? More than likely, esp since we still have all those casks of wildfyre Cersei is storing. If/when Dany ever makes it to KL and Westeros, she'll still have to contend with followers' anti-magicsm and xenophobia. And even if she becomes the Queen, most of the Seven Kingdoms, peasants and nobles, worship the Seven. A lot of villages have some sort of access to a small place of worship, if they don't already have designated spots. I don't think this religion will be eradicated anytime soon.

A Damned Man in a Holy Place

Bucky had been to so many cities in his extended lifetime and there were certain things about them that were always the same. The tall buildings, cars, and minimal greenery were obvious staples. But one aspect of them that always stuck out to him and seemed to prevail over all the rest were the churches because no matter where they were they always garnered some level of respect from their city.

Today wasn’t any different from other first days he’d spent in new cities. There was always the sensation of breathing new air and treading untrodden ground. He kept his mind at peace by moving around often, going to new places and meeting new people and not focusing on what constantly swirled around in his head, but he was starting to find it a bit redundant after almost a year of doing it. He needed something new and the moment he came across an ornate old cathedral he became intrigued. Millions of people found peace in these kinds of places every day. He found himself drawn to that possibility and turned to walk towards it. The last time he’d been in a church was when his grandmother had forced him to go with her to teach him how to be a proper religiously pious Romanian boy, but it didn’t stick because he never went back after that. He wasn’t sure if this time would be any different, but he wasn’t twelve now and so much had happened since then.

He stopped outside the giant doors and took a deep breath. He didn’t know why he was nervous. It wasn’t like God really shot people with bolts of lightening. At least he hoped not. He went inside regardless and felt very strange in the silence, like every breath he took would echo in the vaulted ceilings and be stuck up there for all eternity. He decided that sitting in a back pew was probably best, so he lowered himself onto the wooden bench, took another deep breath, and began to meditate in the silence.

@magicsms It had been a while since Sara had been out and about without the car, and her work wasn't that far anyway, so she decided to go for a little bit of a walk (roll?) instead of driving. On her way home, she took a bit of a different route to stop by a fast food place to grab dinner, but about a block from her destination, one of her wheels fell into a rather large crack in the sidewalk. "Oh.... shit. Are you kidding me? I know this thing's not for off-road, but it can barely handle on-road, I swear..." She tried getting unstuck, before giving up with a huff and looked around for someone to help.

What part of pop culture do you wish would just go away? Youtubers being famous for doing nothing but living fake lives that the younger generations obsess over to an almost frightening degree. Being famous is a fucking JOKE nowadays because of it. You don’t have to have any talents whatsoever.

What is your favorite salty snack? Holy shit, it depends on the day. I love chips though. I’ve been into sour cream and onion flavored lately.

What song do you love to dance to? Basically any Lady Gaga or Bruno Mars song. Fucking love them.

What was your most embarrassing hair style? I used to wear my hair in a low pony tail with a middle part LITERALLY every single day when I was in elementary school and a little into middle school. It was horrid.

If you could have a drink with someone from history who would it be? Queen Victoria or Emmeline Pankhurst. They were both badasses.

What is the furthest west you have traveled?   This is weirdly worded because the furthest west I guess is technically California, but I’ve flown past California to get to Japan and South Korea, so....? I’ve been to all three of those places and you can figure out which is right.

What is the funniest thing you have heard a child say?   "My mom said she’s going to buy me a pop-tart if I don’t pee in my pants today.” I worked at a charter school previously and this is one of the precious kindergarteners who had had an accident the day before. His name is Momo and he is such a precious little squish.

What vegetable do you hate? I’m a huge vegetable lover, over all, but I really don’t prefer to eat asparagus.

Have you ever been mentioned in the newspaper? Yeah, when I graduated high school there was an announcement with our class picture. I don’t think I was before that... Unless I was when I was little because of my family being famous, but that’s all I can think of.

If you could live in any other country for 2 years where would you go? England, Scotland, or Ireland. I studied abroad in England in college and it’s still one of the best experiences of my life so far.

If you could see 24 hours into the future what would you do with this ability? I honestly don’t think I would use this power even if I had it. I don’t want to know the future, it ruins the surprise and excitement of living.

What is the worst physical pain you have ever been in? When I had to get surgery on my toes. It was absolutely horrible.

In what way are your parents out of date? My dad texts like he’s an alien from outer space and my mom is pretty up to date on most things, except her texting is a little weird, too. Not as weird as my dad’s though.

Do you have faith in the next generation? Why? I’m starting to and that’s only because my little sister is in the next generation and she’s very bright and has some pretty interesting opportunities open to her that I didn’t have, so she gives me hope. Other than that though....I’m pretty concerned with how obsessed some of them are with pretending they have a perfect life on social media just so that people will like their stuff or so that they can become famous for being fake happy and perfect..... That’s fucked up on so many levels. And also I guess just losing human connection and being able to communicate with people normally is getting lost a little. Hopefully it finds its way back lol.

What makes you laugh? Stackie ALL FUCKING DAY AND NIGHT. Also the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. I love him.

What exotic pet would you like to have? I want a hedgehog or like some sort of tiny monkey.

Who taught you to cook? My mom. She was a personal chef for a while and has always been super passionate about cooking. 

What color underwear are you wearing? Like pink, I think? 

What single piece of technology makes your life easier? My phone, I mean duh...

What do you miss from your childhood? Not having real problems to worry about. Because not having the sneakers that everyone at school has is NOT A REAL PROBLEM. But trying to get money to pay rent every month...definitely something I can live without lol. Everything was simpler when I was a kid. I just played outside with my friends and had a great time making up games. Things just seem so much more complicated nowadays.

What do you do to impress someone you are attracted to? I talk to them like a human being lol. I’m great with talking to people, so I’ll just start up a conversation and try to make them laugh.
