I’m such a geek, I took the actual canon length of a reaper capital ship, a relay and the abby and sat them side-by-side to scale.

The result was hilarious and forced a re-write. I had been writing a scene where Harbinger attacks Emrys and … yeah… well…

I always assumed he was older, but I ain’t going to fight anyone over it. If a fan writer wanted to make Solana the older sibling, that’s up to them. Where’s the harm? We write for fun. 💙

The Vakarian’s situation on Palaven fitted so well into the long running theme in my story of dads trying to protect their daughters.

From chapter 19:

Our ship picked up your distress call," [Sebastian] said earnestly. "Of all the transmissions from Palaven, yours slipped through the communication blockade. Why? Because of your connection to Shepard, through your son. I believe the Reapers wanted to lure the Normandy here."

"He knows better than to come after us!" Castis spat back with evident pride in his voice. There was a small whimper from the young woman sitting on the floor behind him.

"We know, Sir; that's why we're here. The best chance for us all to survive this war is for Shepard's plan to succeed. We need the Normandy and her crew focused on the mission."

"This isn't a war; we're being exterminated!"

"Yes. Families all over the galaxy are being torn apart." Sebastian replied, glancing at Tegan, who looked away and swallowed hard.

Castis lowered his rifle slightly. "Who have you lost?" He asked.

"Our daughter. She's alive, but we can't reach her. I-we-… can't protect her." Sebastian struggled to admit the truth.

Castis took in Sebastian's words, and his stance relaxed. He took his eyes off the group for the first time and looked down at the turian behind him. She looked like him and wore the same colony colours, except her feline eyes were pale green.

"Dad," she pleaded.

Castis sighed deeply. "As parents, all you can do is arm your children with the knowledge they need to survive in life and hope they make the right choices,” he said quietly.
