I'm in a new HBO / MAX doc by Erin Lee Carr about the never-before interviewed leader of The Bling Ring. Premieres Sunday October 1. I covered the group (also known at the time as "the burglar bunch" for the New York Times, largely because I attended Calabasas High School and understood the milieu. I was always bothered by a lot of the coverage of the group because these were not, in my view, a bunch of spoiled kids doing things for fun and greed, but were teenagers struggling with numerous issues who found a unique way to act out, thanks to the rise of social media coalescing with their adolescence. I have yet to see a full screener of Erin's doc, but from today's Vanity Fair article and the screener (where you can see yours truly in a suit that fits better than my Bad Vegan suit), it looks like she nails it.

Carlos leaned casually against the counter, recounting a funny moment from the last race, his eyes lighting up with joy. Lando animatedly mimicked a miscommunication between him and Max, while George and Daniel chuckled at the story.

“Seriously, Y/N, you have to come!” Lando insisted, throwing a piece of bread my way. “This reunion is your chance to show them how far you’ve come!”

“I don’t know, guys. Do I really want to walk into a room full of people who used to bully me?” I replied, crossing my arms, feeling a familiar unease creep in.

“Come on! You’re not that awkward girl anymore,” Max chimed in, a reassuring grin on his face. “You’ve built an amazing career. They’ll be jealous.”

“Exactly! You’ve got a killer job now. Show them what they missed out on,” George added, leaning in with a playful smirk.

“Plus, it’ll be funny to watch them squirm when they see you with Carlos,” Daniel added, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

Carlos chuckled, watching the exchange with a knowing smile.

“I promise you, they’ll regret ever doubting you.”

“Yeah, but what if they start throwing shade?” I shot back, my worries bubbling to the surface.

“Who cares?” Daniel replied, his tone upbeat. “We’ve got your back. The Grid vs. Your Old Bullies—what could be better?”

I couldn’t help but laugh at the thought.

“But I can’t be your only entertainment. Don’t you all have reputations to uphold?”

“Who said we can’t all have fun?” Oscar chimed in, flashing a grin. “But seriously, we’ll be right there with you.”

“Think of it this way,” Carlos said, stepping closer, his eyes earnest. “You’ll be showing them just how wrong they were to underestimate you. They’ll be wishing they had been nicer to you all those years ago.”

After a moment of contemplation, I finally relented.

“Okay, fine! I’ll go,” I said, rolling my eyes as laughter erupted around the room.

The night of the reunion arrived, and I stood before the mirror, adjusting my earrings. The fitted black dress hugged my curves, and the diamonds sparkled under the soft light.

“You look stunning,” Carlos said, appearing behind me, his eyes warm with admiration.

“Thanks. Just trying to keep up with my handsome fiancé,” I replied, smirking as I turned to face him.

“This place is incredible,” I marveled, taking in the elegant decor.

“Only the best for my queen,” Carlos said, pulling out my chair with a charming grin.

As we settled in, the rest of the grid joined us, filling the table with laughter and good-natured banter.

“So, what was the highlight of the reunion?” George asked, leaning forward, clearly curious.

“The look on their faces when Y/N schooled them!” Carlos said, raising his glass with a chuckle.

“Yeah, you were on fire!” Daniel added, clearly impressed. “Who knew you had it in you?”

I felt a rush of warmth at their support.

“Thanks, guys. I just couldn’t let them walk all over me.”

I just wanted to give you a brief update, and a basic accounting of where all the money has gone.

SpyBoy is at the vet for his 24 hour monitoring. Hopefully this will be the last one, since it's $634 each time.

Jonathan is still waiting to hear from the recruiter about the job. It's not a great job...it's $20,000 per year less than he was making. But if it's offered, he'll take it while looking for something better. He has another interview tomorrow, for a different job.

We're on month four of no income, and we're hurting. All of you wonderful people have helped us get this far, and we would be lost without you.

We have currently received $9945. $6400 of that has gone to vet bills, plus the $634 we'll have to pay tomorrow for this monitoring session. $3000 has gone to mortgage payments...these have been partial payments, since the mortgage company is working with us through all of this. The other $500 has gone to making partial payments on bills, to keep the lights on and the internet going.

We're behind on everything. Our credit cards are maxed out, and we have those payments looming.

easton festival where finn and dot (stated to be the best out of adler 5 at singing) formed a band and sing bling-bang-bang-born much to everyone's hype and Finn's horror. Rayne was going to show his support by being there but ended up with more questions than answers when the song ended

ryoh invites Rayne over for dinner at least once a week and he always declined the invitation. One time Rayne was too exhausted to make excuses and came over only to see Finn playing with Ryoh Jr. The dinner of 5 was unexpectedly pleasant so Rayne now come over to the Grantz residence once a month

Finn used his DIY xp to build an outdoor bunny patio with Rayne as a weekend hangout idea. Rayne was useless at construction so his only job is being a human lifting crane. Watching his younger brother hammering away from the sidelines awoken his (premature) midlife crisis and Rayne seriously reflected on what he should do with his personal life from here on out

Finn sometimes run shopping errands for Mash and Rayne unwillingly started to learn the difference between heavy cream and half n half

everyone in Rayne's department treated Finn politely after the final battle because of his relation to Rayne, but when Finn successfully wrangled Rayne out of his office after a stubborn 30 hour work shift they started showing deferential respect to Finn as well

there's always a fresh change of ironed uniform and polished shoes in Rayne's office. he thought his staffs were being thoughtful of his overworking nature so he always take a quick shower and change into them before going home so Finn wouldn't worry about the (monster) blood on his dirty uniform which he left in the bureau laundry room

little did Rayne know Finn was trying to condition him into taking better care of himself and Finn was the one who washed and left the clothes there in the first place. Rayne's staffs had varying "awww!!" reactions and kept quiet about the clothes

hii do you have any movie recommendations?

hiii yess of !! it depends what you’re wanting to watch/what you’re into though i suppose, i’ll give a mix of various stuff for you ☆

i personally love horror ! i always recommend barbarian (2022) and beau is afraid (2023) for more modern horrors, they’re ones i wish i could watch for the first time again, love them a lot ! and i am always going to tell people to watch saw (2004), the whole franchise is very beloved to me ! same with the final destination franchise and friday the 13th (although some of those are questionable lol)

i looove reservoir dogs (1992) and the royal tenenbaums (2001) a lot, they’re personal favourites of mine along with eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (2004) and marie antoinette (2004) - i really love sofia coppola’s films, the bling ring (2013) is so fun and i really enjoyed priscilla (2023) too

for some older stuff, i loooove sabrina (1954), creature from the black lagoon (1954) and the invisible man (1933) - i love audrey hepburn so anything with her really, and same with the classic universal monster movies !

i don’t watch comedy that often but the unbearable weight of massive talent (2022) was fun and i actually really enjoy confessions of a shopaholic (2009) as a comfort and easy watch kinda movie, during the winter that applies to the holiday (2006).. also the scooby doo live action movies (2002/2004) are always fun to me along with the addams family films (1991/1993)

thinking about what i’ve watched this year - sea of love (1989) stands out, i really loved it and i also just love al pacino (dog day afternoon (1975) is so good btw) the last film i saw at the cinema was the surfer and that was a really fun watch too - i also love nic cage lol

kiki’s delivery service (1989) and whisper of the heart (1995) are my favourite from ghibli.. for animation (something i don’t watch toooo often - sorry !), i will always love 101 dalmatian’s (1961), and the live action version from 1996 is also sooo so good and fun .. the costume design for that movie is genuinely a favourite forever, i think it’s so iconic and genius and i could talk about it for quite a while hehe

i love any godzilla movie tbh ! i love kaiju movies ! pacific rim (2013) was so good but the second one is something i pretend doesn’t exist … for some reason that then makes me think of mad max fury road (2015) which i really enjoyed, they’re the kinda films i watch with my papa i guess.. another in that kind of movies-i-watch-with-my-dad-and-really-enjoy list is nobody (2021) .. i love my boy bobby odenkirk ♡

uhhh .. i’m gonna stop because i realise i’m listing a lot and a lot are fairly modern-ish, and possibly ones you have already seen or are at least aware of ! anyway i hope you like at least one thing on here, i always get a bit nervous recommending films because i love a lot, and i always end up forgetting so many (i’ve defo forgotten lots here i just know it, like these were all the ones that came to mind first/i could see on my dvd shelf lol) and like.. idk im aware i like some bad movies but i’ll still tell people to watch them hehe
