Ive been thinking long and decided to release some lore for Maxwell. Im still working on it since i wanna try and change some stuff but i think right now it might be good for people to decide if its good.

When Martha gave birth to Max, she got the news that she got twins, Max and his (older due to time) twin, who soon came to be Maxwell. Martha was happy about the two, feeling pure happiness at the sight of the two, but there was something different between the two. While Max looked entirely normal, Maxwell was entirely different from his brother. He had his left eye dilated and his eye slightly ripped, his tail a bit taller than normal. Jeff didnt like those changes, and had no good intentions for him. As they got home, Jeff took Maxwell and threw him into the basement, locking him in the closet. He would go days on end, starving for even a crumb (which dont worry he does find) and anything for hydration. Years went by and the kids became what they are today, but one was suffering. In the basement, Maxwell was searching for stuff he could use in the basement. Shelter, food, clothes, drinks, anything really. At some time, Maxwell found a dark grey sweater and clothes, so he put them on. While he was doing that, several injuries appeared on him, his tail slightly ripping off, his arms weak as he barely could hold a box, his ear aching and a constant ringing in his head. Yet he persevered and went on, eventually learning to stitch. He stitched his tail and arms, his other ear so it wouldnt fall off. Before you ask, he was able to break the closet open so he could move around the basement, which is why his arms are weak. As days went on, a curious Max heard the loud banging in the basement, and, bold enough, went down there. He took a flashlight and shined through the basement, searching for whatever was making that noise, but little did he know, he met a familiar someone, a person who was deemed a lostcause.

That's so far it for now. Yes, his story is mostly based off Oxaya's, since most of Maxwell is inspired by Oxaya. Thank you for reading.

Story time bcuz I'm a tiny bit better at writing!:

Our scene opens up with nugget ranting about his problematic relationship with Lola...

"Like, dude. Every time we go on a date, I need to spend all of my damn money! How is this even possible??"

"... Can't you just break up with her?"

Max blurted out.

"It's not that easy! Besides, what are my parents gonna think..?"

"The way that this has been going is like you wanna stay! Geez, you can't stand up for yourself anymore?!"

He looked to the side.

"Yeah right... So what now?"

Max then thought, he had to think of the stupidest plan ever to get his boyf- I MEANT best friend and break up with that crusty musty dusty woman... when Max had the perfect plan!

He grabbed him from the "shoulders" and said with a loud voice

"Nugget, I have the GAYEST idea EVER!!"

Later that day...

Lola was sitting on the bench, bored as day while scrolling through her phone; waiting for her beloved "boyfriend", Nugget to show up for their date...

She recognised his scent and didn't even open an eye! Then spoke with a giddy voice.

"Hai nugge-"

Once she opened her eyelids she immediately shot an eye at the other's gesture. She was confused and suspicious... She got off the bench, moving closer to them as Lola spoke in a disgusted yet aggravated tone

"Oh.. I see you brought your buddy Max to our DATE."

He answered smugly.

"Yeah, thought my..."

As he was about to finish that sentence, he trailed down his hand towards Max's lower area and gripping it! Sending the other into shock. Max put his hand on his mouth, looking at Nugget with utter surprise, he never expected this to happen... it wasn't according to the plan!!

"Friend, could tag along!"

Lola immediately knew what was going on...

"You don't even have to say it, f@ggöt!"

The male's eyes shot wide open, feeling the quilt of his actions. Lola screamed in anger as she left the scene, shedding tears.

Max knew that bitch was playing all this as a fake thing, unamused.

"Lola, wait!"

Nugget tried to stop her but it was too late, Max grabbed Nugget's shoulder, catching his attention and turning him around as he then rested his hands on his shoulders, gaining Nugget's full attention.

"Let her go, okay?! She was fake all along and I bet those tears were too!..."

Nugget stared at him in disbelief.

"Yeah, right. Like you know her-"

"STOP BEING SUCH A BRAT AND LISTEN TO ME!"

Nugget was shook, he didn't know what to say so he remained silent..

"I had a relationship like that too! It sucked, yeah; and I had to realise that!! I let her go with a thought in mind, "if she uses me, I'll let her go. And some day someone that actually fucking cares will love me back!"! You understand?!"

Nugget just stood there, realising many things as he processed everything in his mind, piece by piece..

He calmed down and spoke with a soft voice of his.

"I guess you're right man, I gotta let her go."

He silently smiled as Max hugged him

"Glad you finally freaking understand, hah."

They both pulled away as Nugget thought and spoke,

"So, wanna head over to my place? We can have a sleepover if ya want, parents are out for a vacation."

"Sick!"

Max agreed, as they started making they're way to the gedagedigegagedaio thing's place...

ONTO THE LORE FOR DASHI IN MY AU 🎉🎉🎉

First of all, let's take a little look at her interests- surfing, photography, going out to cave dive for those photos-

And she does all of this stuff, that alot of people might only do as hobbies, to the max!

Whenever she has any interest she always goes as high as she possibly can-

Her family is kinda rich, like "we have rich person hobbies and have expensive vacations every year 💅" kind of rich. Hence why she was able to get so much support for all her interests at a young age, whether it be surfing or photography competitions and so on.

Anyways she's also got an older brother, (I've named him Dan btw) and he's the eldest

See the thing about him and dashi is that they used to be super close as kids yk? He was the oldest sibgling and big brother and both he and dashi were both similar in alot of ways! They were both super competitive and determined to reach their goals, he also was the one who got her into surfing and taught her a ton of stuff!

They were close kinda like how dashi and koshi are...

The thing is though a big part of his identity was being the golden child and amazing big brother and perfect high achiever son, so when dashi started getting older and developing her like.. whole seperate interests and identity that her brother...

Well they started clashing alot, because well she couldn't play the "little sister" that he could teach so everyone could admire how amazing he was, instead she was having her own achievements that he couldn't have any credit in.

He was the kind of older brother who... well choose to be kinda patronizing to make themselves more masculine and popular... and at a certain point it went from "aw big brother helping teach his lil sister!" To " ur actually talking down on me and I hate that, and whenever i try to bring it up you act like I'm a 5 year old when I'm not. Also I dont need ur bad advice on this, I know what I'm doing and ur just acting like a pro in something u don't know anything about"

Alot of his identity and self worth comes from bragging about *his* achievements

The undermining of her own achievements didn't even just come from him either, alot of her passions and skills were just seen as hobbies for fun and not real jobs. Its why she ended up as primarily a computer specialist, she worked as a meteorologist actually! She would use those advanced machines and systems to track and decipher weather, and even was a co-pilot for the weather researchers... but her parents just kinda saw it as her just "being a weather girl"

Her parents are genuinely very kind and caring, nuturing her interests and always trying to be there for her emotional needs but, but they're very out of touch. The type of people to just... not understand why saying a certain phrase *actually is kinda specist* or *why photography actually matters to helping climate change* or *hey actually you can't just try to feed wild animals food even if they act cute cuz it'll hurt them and no it actually IS really bad for a variety of reasons and-*

That sorta thing...

They do genuinely love and try to support her tho, they just... wanted her to get a real job so she could have a good life :/ they're genuie ly nice folks who love to help people out tho

Regardless though,dashi still wanted to fulfill her passions and dreams and needs,and then she learned about the octonauts

at the time thr octonauts were a VERY experimental and risky organization, but she did research and genuinely believed and wanted to be part of what could possibly be a revolutionary organization for rescue, research, exploration, and conservation-

So she applied in secret.

The thing is though, Dan had found out. Their relationship at the time was strained at best but they were still siblings. But then he snitched.

To say they were concerned about their daughter going out to just- possibly- "die in the middle of the ocean!" Or "be stuck and trapped with strangers in the middle of the ocean!" Or "struggle to ever settle down because you're in the middle of the ocean!" Or "get stranded on an island in the middle of the ocean!" Or "get eaten by a whale and cry because u weren't ever able to get back with ur ex u sarcastically said ud get back with because we kept talking about how amazing he was and how we thought ud get married and how sad that made us and then you'd die in a whale in the middle of the ocean!" Or whatever 🙄

Like girl did get swallowed by a whale but it was chill yall need to calm down 💅 like so what if siphonphores tried to eat her once or if the octopods crashed or nearly crashed several times? Like she handled it yall need to have some faith in ur daughter smh

Anyways needless to say they made the process SO HARD esp since Dan STOLE HER LAPTOP WITH HER FILES because he was "woRriEd foR hIs baby SiStEr trYiNg tO ruuN AwAy🥺🥺🥺" She is a grown woman btw and a highly renowned professional in her career.

anyways she managed to join thr octonauts anyways and her parents did chill at least half a year later once they realized she wasn't gonna die in the ocean and that she was fine not "settling down" for a while, they still DONT understand it but like they were just worried their daughter was going crazy and running away (THANKS FOR ADDING A BUNCH OF DRAMATIC LIES TO CHANGE THE STORY DAN)

Anyways she and Dan don't talk anymore, if u ask either of them about it "they just drifted apart", koshi doesn't really know what all the drama that happened was tbh :/ she just remembered them fighting over a laptop and figures they never really got along 😐👍

Anyways dashi makes it a point to never make koshi feel the way dan made her feel

Also dan ended up becoming a lawyer for businesses if u were interested :/

Dashis parents sound pretty bad here and they def aren't perfect, but they're usually just uninformed and they genuinely do have a "we should help everyone in our community ^v^ " mindset and taught dashi alot about self confidence and etc

Btw she didn't start out as a scientist when she joined the octonauts,its actually something that she added to her skillsets and shellington supported her thru it

I really like it because I mean first of all they actually acknowledge and interact and generally care about their fanbase unlike most of not all content farm/brainrot channels like I love seeing the little fanarts in their videos or on their community posts like they even acknowledged the fanart of their younger viewers like holy shit that's so fucking cute and not to mention how they made Twiddlefinger somewhat canon and made Oxaya canon and made Triflethumb somehwt canon and just the fact that they're super nice and chill with everyone like it's only a matter of time before Max x Nugget is canon (whoch if it doesn't become canon at some point then I'm gonna lose my shit) I don't know why I ever judged them in the first place and frankly I'm happy that I was dragged into the fandom because it's genuinely super awesome and cool OH and not to mention I can see how they're starting to shift their content from stuff drooling babies would watch to more mature-ish themes (I mean they were talking about smoking and attempted murder and stuff and included a scene where Jimmy was about to get his head chopped off) and they usually include like little lessons and such like smoking while pregnant or not killing every creature you're scared of (like spiders for example in that one short) and even letting those who need a specific seat to yk take that seat like okay fine yeah it's still content farm but their characters actually have lore and personality instead of it being the same thing every single time

Personal Thoughts on the Occult Crescent

So by no means have I "finished" Occult Crescent. I've gotten the max level (20 at the time of writing this), have a couple phantom jobs leveled to max, gotten all my demiatma for the weapon and done all the fights available multiple times. I thought I would write down my pros and cons towards the content in its current iteration, as I've "completed" Eureka (done all zones and gotten at least one relic weapon out of it, have not done BA) and Bozja (done all zones but barely touched Zadnor, finished all relic weapons).

PROS:

It is immensely relieving to have a midcore grind you can jump into at any time, make some progress, and then back out. Endwalker sorely needed this, and it's a relief to see Dawntrail including one.

Fights are really well designed and fun to engage with. The mechanics have clear enough tells where experienced players don't need call outs, and while some are challenging in an annoying way, I still think they're all fun.

I also like that CEs can be joined by the entire instance, do not have a small queue pool, and give you ample time to get there in order to participate. This was the one limitation of Bozja I really disliked and I'm glad that it's not present here.

Additionally, not having fights limited by the level system is good. This is a more mixed comment as I feel CEs should be the ones without levels and FATEs SHOULD have level limitations based on the areas they're in (more on that in the Cons section), but in practice I think having no hard level limit or punishment for being UNDERleveled is good for the overall grind.

Exploration is also fun in that regard. I got strong Eureka vibes walking around and suddenly encountering overpowered as hell enemies that could one-shot me trying to make quest progress. It was good fun, I just wish there was a bit more in terms of finding more overworld spots to interact with, but in a positive way! I liked finding the little spots to interact with and get lore tidbits, and I want more scattered around!

Phantom Jobs are EXTREMELY fun. Haven't been able to get to all of them, obviously, but all of them feel distinct and unique in fun ways. I particularly loved oracle and chemist, as both of those felt simple but EXCEEDINGLY rewarding to have. Being able to fully restore the MP of a healer or spell caster after they raised was so fun, I felt like a god granting a small miracle to a random soul. Honestly the best implementation of a secondary job/action system in any Field Operation, it's kind of wild how good it is in comparison.

People are complaining about the demiatma grind and, frankly, I don't get them lol I felt it was fine. It's a one-time step that gets a bit annoying, but theoretically you're already grinding the hell out of OC to get leveled up, so the demiatmas will naturally come. Admittedly towards the end I went to the overworld to grind, but that's because the atmas I needed were in zones of OC that had VERY few FATES and CEs spawning, so having the guarantee was better in my mind. I got them quickly enough and, just like with every other weapon grind that's come before, I imagine that the drop rates will be improved in future patches.

CONS:

I think, out of all the Field Operations, the FATE and CE balancing here is by far the worst. From discussions I've seen on other forums and reddit, CEs are scaled to how many people join, period, but FATEs are balanced by how many people participated in the PRIOR fate. To give an example:

FATE 1: 70 people join, FATE is scaled for 70 people. Boss mob dies w/ appropriate amount of time for stragglers to join. FATE 2: 14 people join, FATE is scaled for 70 people. Boss mob takes SO long to die that other FATES or CEs can spawn/end, leading to a feeling of wasting time. FATE 3: 70 people join, FATE is scaled for 14 people. Boss mob dies instantaneously bc the health pool is 5x less than what it SHOULD be properly scaled for.

This is, to put it bluntly, pretty fucking awful and I have zero clue why this is the system. This isn't even considering how certain phantom jobs have high potency, instant damage abilities, and with more people maxing out phantom jobs, they get a damage potency increase. In other words, the Boss' health pool is even TINIER bc people can do crazy amounts of damage in less than 5 seconds. Seriously, this is so bad. I really hope they implement a level sync system or SOMETHING for FATEs in future areas, because if you don't have the riding map or Phantom Monk's speed-increase buff, it's just not worth trying to run over and do half the damn content in OC.

Adding to the prior point: FATEs and CEs spawn hella fast. This seems great on paper, as you can grind MUCH faster as FATEs and CEs give the best EXP, but in reality it means you have exceedingly little downtime between fights to breathe. It creates an artificial anxiety/FOMO sensation where, if you aren't paying 100% of your attention to the map, you "lose out" on FATEs. I had very little time to check vendors to see what they were selling between fights, which sucks, because I'm grinding the currency and I want to see what I can buy!

As a sidenote for this: why isn't there a vendor for silver and gold outside of OC? I feel like it's a coding limitation, but the Phantom Village is already its own instanced area, why can't they have a vendor there for me to at least look at my options?

Gold grinding sucks, flat-out. As does spawning certain CEs. Overworld mob grinding feels bad in OC in a way Eureka and Bozja didn't. Add onto the fact that it's easy as piss to get to level 20 (a level that really, REALLY doesn't matter EXCEPT for mob grinding) and it doesn't feel as rewarding. The worst part is, if you want all the jobs, you NEED to do gold grinding, and the only way to get gold is to kill overworld mobs and chain them solo. There's guides out there, sure, but...

Why is the currency broken up like this? It doesn't feel rewarding at all. There's no natural tie-in for either currency--you either get gold, or you get silver. If you're trying to grind levels, you get silver, and trying to go for gold is a waste. If you're trying to go for gold, you can't do any FATEs or CEs, because that ALSO wastes time. It's a bad trade-off system that doesn't feel natural compared to Eureka or Bozja where, no matter what, you get SOME type of currency that naturally feeds back into the gameplay loop.

There is currently no penalty for dying in CEs or FATEs aside from your overall knowledge level dropping if you refuse a raise. In other words, you can tap the boss once, immediately die, and you'll get full credit. This is a faulty system because it can indirectly encourage players to grief. It's technically more efficient for players to go solo, either purposefully get hit by mechanics or run into a death wall, and wait for the dozens of other players to finish the fight. Even if they don't accept the raise and return to base after getting the credit, grinding your knowledge back up is pissbaby easy and doesn't matter because of the lack of level sync or scaling in OC. This SHOULD NOT BE THE CASE. At the very minimum, dying solo should not give you any credit for the fight, or at least give you a rating no higher than silver.

Getting into the Forked Tower (the optional savage dungeon, a la BA and DRS) is a fucking mess from what I've heard. Pre-made parties aren't guaranteed to all enter the same instance, as you need 48 people to join. Additionally, you have to wait for a random weather effect, grind the gold to get the certificates, and hope that everyone made it in. Why? BA had this same problem, but there wasn't a currency stipulation added to it, you just needed RNG to access it. DRS solved this problem from BA perfectly by having it be accessible outside of it's operation, but that had the double-edged sword problem of DR (normal) being a necessary step for story progression and accessing Zadnor, which means people HAVE to do it at least once, if not grind it out multiple times for the relic, which became harder and harder the older the content became and the less people did it regularly. Forked Tower being optional but requiring EVERYONE to be in the instance is dumb, and not being able to access it OUTSIDE of the instance for optional savage content is also stupid! Why is this limitation here!!!

Ultimately I'm happy there's a new midcore grind back in the game, but it takes two steps forward and about ten steps back compared to the systems Bozja and Eureka have. I feel like they tried to combine the best of both and remove some of the prior limitations, only to not realize that those limitations are VERY necessary for an adequately satisfying player experience.

I could absolutely see them improving and implementing a new system for a new zone/area in future expansions (like tying the currency together more naturally or, more importantly, PUTTING A LEVEL SYNC ON FATES) but OC is a strange grab-bag of both that I don't feel fully positive on. I really hope future expansions fix some of the major cons here because some of these problems should've been easy to avoid or improve upon based on past Field Operations' blunders.
