As a Ginny, I can say that the 'yeah, i am' comes from a place of not being able to emotionally rely on Maxine. Ginny feels detached because she is. She has had to in order to maintain a friendship all this time.

Maxine can be an emotionally neglectful friend. She tries, but she has limitations. Maxine worries about Ginny a lot in season 3 but I found myself yelling 'Then talk to her' all season long.

Maxine can often let her pettiness and selfishness rule. It's no coincidence that the friends who feel the most disconnected from Maxine (Ginny & Abby) are the ones who need the most emotional support. I think back to the Halloween episode in season 1 where Abby wanted to be red-catsuit Britney and Maxine insisted she have that look for herself, only for it to be one of multiple costume changes that night. That over many years is how resentment is built.

Also... it just occurred to me... there’s a real possibility that Maxine is particularly triggering of Ginny's trauma with Georgia, who also has a lot of of love to give but is also very selfish... I'd have to think about this a bit more to elaborate.

Yall Ginny's "yeah I am" is wild to me. Like?!?!?!!? WHAT?!?!!? What is that?!?!!?

I think Toriel is an alcoholic. The scene at the very end of chapter 4 where she's dancing with Sans, I wanted to highlight Kris's reaction.

They're disappointed and embarrassed Suzie has to see this, but they're not surprised like she is. They don't want to engage in this situation at all.

She's a happy drunk, having a good time, sure. She offers Kris some food, but doesn't engage with them at all. Doesn't check in why they were out so late or on their mental state. There's so many themes of neglect in deltarune that this clearly isn't just a one off event.

This scene is just a Lot, it just struck me mostly because I watched nearly this exact same scene play out with my own mother.
