So, just finished season 1 in my family's rewatch of Stargate Atlantis. I've been fairly restrained in my perusal of the fandom and its fanfictions so far. (Mainly so i don't lose the momentum I've got going for the agents of shield wips). A thought has occurred to me about McShep that may have already been said a billion times.

But like... McKay always comparing John to Kirk? James T Kirk? The man who is so devoted to and passionately loves with his Scientist best friend? That one?

Then this is the festival for you! As the summer wraps up, the annual Stargate Atlantis Summer Music Festival 2025 aims to collect all kinds of fanworks inspired by or about music. Submissions will be open until the end of summer, the autumnal equinox, Monday, September 22, 2025.

Throughout the festival, we will regularly update this year’s playlists on Spotify and YouTubeMusic with all of the songs that inspire your works, and we will post them as their own work in the collection at the end of the festival.

got up to the shrine in my SGA rewatch, and man you'd think that it really wouldnt be as mcshep heavy as we remember it from a few gifsets but man i was i wrong. so many small things that hit me like the way rodney just straight away trust john when he suggests the shrine, the way hes constantly calling john and smiling at him. also sheppards smile when hes remembering beer on the pier.

i'm working on a fic about it rn but i'm really thinking about how fucking frantic rodney is during epiphany and i'm thinking about how it's only six episodes after trinity and only two episodes after aurora, and john has straight up said (multiple times!!) that he doesn't trust rodney

and i'm wondering how much of rodney's panic was directly related to that. how scared was he that john would assume it took so long because of rodney's incompetence and take this as more of a reason to not trust (and maybe even hate) rodney. being worried that john would be stuck living out the rest of his life thinking the worst of rodney

and sometimes i wonder if rodney let johns "lack of trust" get to him. if part of why he was so frantic was because rodney started doubting his own abilities. i mean he straight up says he should have noticed the camera being out of memory/battery, and he berates himself for not sending john a note

idk if this even makes sense but i'm just. having a lot of thoughts about epiphany and what it does to john and rodney's relationship and specifically their trust in each other

John going to a prisoner and convincing said prisoner to be fed upon (and killed) by the wraith immediately after McKay suggests he be the one to sacrifice himself is something we don’t discuss enough. John didn’t just say no, he literally manipulated a man into giving up his life and, while we won’t get into how wrong that is, we will get into the lengths he will go for Rodney and Rodney’s family because what do you meaaaaan?????
