i watched thunderbolts yesterday night and i am not the same person i was before i sat down in that theater. the mental health representation, the anti heroes banding together, the start of their redemption arcs, yelena's monologue, john walker being (surprisingly and unfortunately) funny, bob's entire character in general, james buchanan barnes (obviously), THE HUG??? someone needs to sedate me before i do something insane like trying to shift into this universe to be friends with everyone as if it's still 2020.

If it weren’t for Billy creating the Road, Sharon would’ve died completely alone, never again having a taste of sisterhood or adventure.
If it weren’t for Billy creating the Road, Jen would never have unbound herself or regained her power.
If it weren’t for Billy creating the Road, Alice would never have known what her mother did for her or broken the curse, achieving what her ancestors could not.
If it weren’t for Billy creating the Road, Lilia would never have achieved closure within herself or understood her own purpose in life.
If it weren’t for Billy creating the Road, Agatha would never have learned to love a child again or realized that she could still be more than just a killer.
Every member of the coven, whether they physically survived in the end or not, was given something immeasurably valuable by Billy through his Hex of the Road.
He may have “killed” some of them.
But in truth, in one way or another, he saved all of them.

I saw Thunderbolts* few days ago.
This movie made me interested in the MCU again. And to get a bunch of ear piercings.
Not only is this a movie that I needed right now, but what fits with our current situation in societal level, given the themes in the movie.
I also love what they did with Yelena in this movie.
There was a point, where I was worried that Alexei would be annoying. But no, he was an actually fun and sweet character.
Though I feel that John Walkers arc in the "Falcon and The Winter Soldier", was kinda rushed. And I liked him as villain there. I did like him as a protagonist in this movie.
There are things I wanna say things about Bucky, but I wanna make a separate post about him specifically.
But to be clear, I liked him in this movie.
I understand that there people who ship Yelena with Bucky. I'm not one of them.
If were to ship Yelena with anyone, it would with Bob. But even then, I ship them more as friends than as a romantic couple. You can have an intimate relationship with someone without it being romantic and/or sexual.
I have seen people saying that Yelena is aro/ace in the comics. Which, if Yelena is also aro/ace in the MCU, would be so awesome.
Generally. I love this movie and I'm very interested to see these characters in the future.

Jack Thompson would book a hotel for Peggy Carter and Daniel Sousa on a mission then get a call from them and he’ll be like “WhAaAaAatT? What do you mean there’s only ONE BED in your hotel room?!? I could have SWORN I booked two beds!!!”

My Thoughts on Thunderbolts* (in no particular order)
Went and saw it tonight and I gotta say, I’m pretty impressed. Even though dear god I need to get caught back up on the MCU because I did not remember who half these people were.
I adore the opening with Yelena. It’s honestly relatable, and also really funny.
this whole movie is just a giant extended metaphor for depression isn’t it
I spent a good third of this movie staring at Yelena’s hair. I adore it. I adore her.
Where was Kate while this was going on???? She lives in New York!
They made Bucky a congressman?!? 😂
Get him out of there, he looks so miserable.
Bob is so cute. I want to protect him and judging by this he needs it.
obviously I need to go back and catch up bc who tf is Valentina
I didn’t like John Walker when he first appeared but honestly I’m starting to get there. He’s got potential, and I can see him growing into the place Steve left.
the Sentry is a dumb superhero name, I’m sorry
I’m starting to get won over by Alexei, too. Didn’t like him in Black Widow but he’s starting to become someone I can respect.
goddam I miss the Avengers
I’m glad they got the building back
This movie did make me cry, I will say.
I think if I remembered more about Ghost I’d have more to say about her.
That sequence where Bucky destroys three tanks in like three minutes is so badass. I was vibrating in my seat. They did him justice, I think. That’s probably my favorite scene in the movie.
The shadow thing is the most terrifying thing I think the MCU has ever come up with. Like jesus. A) the design of the Shadow itself is so far beyond terrifying, with the pitch black and the white eyes and the occasional flashes of teeth. That’s nightmare fuel. But also B) the way people just… disappear into shadows? That disturbs me on a visceral level that I can’t quite comprehend. It reminds me of the stories of how after a nuclear bomb, there are shadows of people left behind.
The entire theme of the movie is so genius. I can’t even really analyze it fully but the thought that yes, we’re all going to have bad days, but that on those days we just have to remember we’re not alone? That is such an insane and important message, and I didn’t expect it from a superhero movie but dear lord is it welcome.
something something people rise to become heroes in the most unexpected ways and something about the scene where they were working together to rescue civilians
When Alexei threw Yelena to give her a boost so she could rescue that mother reminded me so much of Steve launching Natasha during the Battle of New York.
i miss the Avengers so much, but at the same time I love this story.
on a lighter note, no joke in the entirety of the MCu will ever top Bucky pulling his arm out of the dishwasher. Ever.
Final thoughts: I loved it. It’s fantastic, go see it.
A post-credits note: IS CAPTAIN MARVEL COMING BACK?!?!?!?!

We all knew Rio was Nicky’s other parent but it’s glorious to see it firmly confirmed and so no hater is able to deny it anymore.
And now we can really bask in just how deep and unique the writing is for that final episode.
From conception, Nicky was half-life, half-death.
Death isn’t supposed to create life. It’s a total paradox that explains why Nicky was meant to be stillborn. How could the child of Death live? Agatha becoming pregnant must’ve turned Rio’s world upside down.
Also Rio doesn’t see death as a tragedy. How could she when it’s her job? When it’s the natural order of things? Before meeting Agatha, it never crossed her mind that death could be seen as bad.
But it’s when she fell for a living human, a mortal, that she finally saw what death means for humans. How much pain and fear and grief it brings.
And suddenly here’s Agatha pleading and pleading for her to NOT do her job, to NOT take their child with her. If she does this, she’ll break Agatha’s heart - the antithesis of her understanding of death. Rio suddenly comprehends that as long as Agatha lives on, there’s no way for the three of them to ever be together as a family. No wonder she chokes back tears.
As for Agatha, she only has the living person’s perspective. How could Rio want THEIR child to die? It’s the antithesis of parental instincts to want or allow your child to die. Death or no Death, surely Rio can see why this would be wrong?
Agatha and Rio are looking at the situation through totally different and incompatible lenses.
So out of love for Agatha alone, Rio lets Nicky’s “life” half take over not just for a few hours or days, but SIX WHOLE YEARS.
Then when Rio can’t stretch the rules any longer and she comes for him, Nicky knows her. He does not fear her, or where they are going. How can he, when she is his mother, when she needs him home?
Then Rio pays the price, as Agatha cuts ties with her and wants nothing to do with her anymore.
I also think this explains why Rio is so determined to kill Agatha herself or to let the Salem Seven do it, during the rest of the show. Again, as Death, she doesn’t see death as bad, or a harm, or a pain. If Agatha dies, then Rio can take her to Nicky and they can finally be a family. But Agatha doesn’t want them to be a family together. She still sees what happened as a loss and betrayal that Nicky would never forgive her for - the opposite of how Rio views it.
Ultimately, Agatha makes herself into a ghost who can’t cross over to where Nicky is, and Rio’s dream of her family being together is shattered.
Truly one of the greatest and most profound tragedies in television history, let alone MCU history.

Is anyone else tired of people saying Bucky should've been Cap instead of Sam? Because I am.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, seriously, what would be the difference? The fact that Bucky is a super soldier? Plenty of heroes don't have super powers and they're doing great, including Sam, I mean he survived the whole Triscelion battle in the Winter Soldier, survived Battle for Earth, and don't get me started on Tony, Clint, Nat, Okoye, etc. Besides Captain America, who can fly? That sounds like a great advantage we saw in TFATWS, and we will see more in Brave New World. Bucky would probably be great, too, but it's clear he didn't want to be Cap, didn't feel worthy. I feel like Bucky doesn't see himself as a good man, which is something Captain America should be. That's why Steve chose Sam because, like he said, he was a good man. Having superpowers doesn't make a hero, a character does. Let's be fair. If Bucky can be Captain America, then so can Sam.

Can Sam Wilson really lead the Avengers?
Law 41 from the 48 Laws of Power states : Do not step into a great man's shoes. And I think that's the problem here.
Sam Wilson is leading the Avengers keh. I love the Avengers and I have to say Steve Rogers wasn't just being Captain America for nothing. He wasn't chosen to lead the Avengers as per first super soldier OR anything. Steve had leadership qualities that no one else possessed (my opinion), he could really bring the team together and motivate them when they needed it.
He was a true soldier from day one. The Justice League are different cause everyone there is smart and serious (except ofc Flash and Aqua man) and Superman's role as leader is more ceremonial than purposeful. Like someone has to lead them and he's the strongest so there you go, they'd be just as good if Diana or Bruce were leading. But the avengers?….Nahh. Everybody has mental or emotional issues of some sort, everybody is fucking crazy on different levels and you can tell how hard it is to freaking drag everybody into a serious war cause well everyone has their own shit going on. Don't get me wrong Sam's a great guy but leading the Avengers, takes more than super serum. It takes the kind of heart someone like Steve Rogers possessed, the kind that could bring a team like the Avengers together and deem him worthy of Mjolnir. Don't get me wrong he's a good Captain America but the leading part, it's some really big shoes. Granted though it's a new team and most of the previous teammates aren't here for the show but still. I hope he can pull through.

I think many theories I'm reading are forgetting a central element: Wiccan is going to be one of the young superheroes/antiheroes that are going to substitute those of the original Avengers. The series is meant to be his introduction in the MCU, just like Kamala, Yelena, Kate and so forth were introduced. So yes, this is Agatha's show, but at the end of the day, if there's one character that's going to survive, I think it'll be Billy, fore the sole reason that AAA is a Marvel project that fits within a wider plan.
Agatha, on the other end? She could be useful as a character, helping Wiccan the way she did with Wanda in the comics. But this is purely hypothetical. I am so afraid she's going to die in the finale just so Billy can make it to the end. And I swear, if all women can do is sacrifice themselves for the sake of the male hero and for the plot, and can only choose between self discovery and a happy life, but never have both, I'm going to be pissed.
