"gay-ass dickmatized Sisyphus bound to a hell of self-hatred" actually made me yell 💀 louis is painfully aware of his faults yet is not self-aware enough to realize when he is falling into those traps again.

and if louis can fall in love and overlook the idea the that lestat could have murdered paul, the person he loved most in the world, I don't think there it would be a stretch to believe he can stay with someone who killed his daughter/sister

GODDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!! Louis!!!!! you are so very right. from the moment we meet him he is in despair about the way he fails other people - Paul, his mother, his sister, his father, the women in his employ. and then in Dubai, while consciously, suffocatingly partnered with his daughter's murderer, he finds himself STILL mourning his failures re: fatherhood and Claudia.

100 years later he's making the same mistakes and upholding the same patterns as if he hasn't been in agony for over a century because of the impact his choices have had on others. girl where is your self-awareness in the moment. girl what resources can i help u foster for self-improvement. girl where's the glue, does your printer have ink bc we need to make u a personal growth vibes mood board immediately

omg you pointing out that Lestat didn't think to buy Claudia a car 😦 he's thinking "she's a child, a 30 year old child and we will forever have to take care of her 😒" (he had no problems terrorizing his child husband into marrying him on those church steps) but it's so restrictive. he really said you aren't going anywhere independently!!

meanwhile he doesn't have to worry about Louis driving off. reliable Louis who still stays in NOLA even tho there is barely anything left for him there

likethemodel & slaygentford talked about it first :3 i just extrapolated further. i think something to be mindful of also is the intentions lestat had in turning louis w/ vs. where he turned/met claudia. lestat turned a grown 30 something year old louis in pursuit of an eternal companion, whereas w/ claudia, she was then 14 & she was not turned bc lestat wanted a companion, but bc louis wanted a daughter & lestat realized that turning claudia would keep louis. he had no desire for another companion, least of all an eternal child before this moment the way louis did. there will always be a dissonance between physical appearance v. their actual age, but with claudia this dissonance is even more prominent bc she was a teenage girl, and not an adult the way lestat, louis, armand & all the other vampires we will most likely see in the show were when turned. it do beg the question of how claudia travelled in her times away from lestatxlouis. catching greyhounds, fonky ass trains.. clearly she didnt get that far - bruce raped her in tennessee & thats when she decided to come back. also where & who could louis even go to at this time? he doesnt have friends, family, anywhere or anyone in his life outside of lestat & claudia at this point. ep6 wise, the lovebombing, lestat getting louis a car, rare gifts, the record, its clear this is a redo of the ‘courtship’, an attempt of lestat to get back in louis’s graces& a provocation. claudia is getting in his way of doing that, and thats why he doesnt even bother giving her gifts outside of annie’s ring , a poor imitation of pops emerald necklace she got in ep4. lestat wants to push claudia back into the child she once was, but claudia fights back& asserts her own sense of maturity in attire, in setting the terms of the game + quitting even when she ‘won’, and saying theyre siblings now, no longer calling lestat unc or louis dad.

The more I think about that 'heterosexual lust is gone’ (in AMC’s IWTV) post the more I actually want to specifically discuss something.

So @medusadeux​​ (post here) hit the nail on the head. You don’t need to lean on the coded gay shit when you can actually do the gay shit. And again, to claim that show isn’t eroticizing the vampire stuff is a reach.

But the show doesn’t need to throw in a bunch of scenes of Louis sucking on women for plausible deniability. They can just have Louis outright state that he is gay. They can just show that his preference of prey is men. I think OP kinda just threw ‘heterosexual lust’ out there without really thinking about all the reasons why it may have been executed that way in previous adaptations. 

So when you make the subtext and metaphor the hallmark of a genre and paint an adaptation going ‘ok, fuck subtext, the lack of metaphor really is striking’. as some sort of fear on the part of the adaptation, it just doesn’t ring true to me.

i gave myself my current name first, middle and last. but my birth middle name is really special to me and it was after my grandma, and an aunt that passed 🤍

2. When was the last time you cried?

i’m not a big crier. but when i do get into those moments it really all comes out. i think the last time was a week ago or two weeks. idk, time is doing a thing rn. but i was by a lake it was beautiful and i was talking to someone incredible and processing some things. so it was good.

3. Do you have kids?

no, i love kids, but no i dont.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

not often, or at all really. i like really clear communication. sarcasm makes things confusing for me sometimes.

5. What sports do you play/have you played?

i wanted to be a cheerleader. i loved playing volleyball for fun. i had hops for a while, and im tall, so my gym teacher asked me to join the basketball team, but i resented being asked about it all the time so i didnt. the jump i did that got his attention went crazy tho. whole room slowed down and got slient. i think i would have been good at it tho.

6. What's the first thing you notice about people?

kindness and if theres an oddness to them. i like odd ppl.

7. What's your eye color?

brown. not the darkest but close.

both, just depends on what im tryna get into. but rn im fascinated with horror.

singing i suppose. dancing, while i still have my megan knees. and lot of art stuff.

Romeo and Juliet OST - Abel Korzeniowski - I have never touched the movie AT ALL, but gah you can feel the love and tragedy from this album. I love Abel

When was the last time you cried? Uhh like yesterday. I'm a very easy crier

currently reading: I wish I had a more interesting answer here but I don’t usually let myself read things for fun during term time as I don’t want to get distracted from doing reading for my degree. The last thing I read for class was Giovanni’s room by James Baldwin which was great, and I’ve recently got my hands on a copy of In a Glass Darkly by Sheridan le Fanu- I’m researching Carmilla and its publication history for an assignment but I’d love to read the whole collection when I’m done. My TBR for summer is so long though, I’m excited to dive into it!

current obsession: selkie dresses! I want a pink poofy one but they’re expensyyyy and out of stock in my size. 

My latest obsession in terms of media has been a video game called Pentiment which is a murder mystery set in 16th century Bavaria and the art is all in illuminated manuscript and early modern print style, depending on the character! It slaps so hard please play it, especially if you like history!!
