Im rewatching Melissa and Joey, one of my all time favorite shows and one of the reasons I love it is how smoothly they transition the slow burn, will-they won't they relationship into a full blown romantic relationship. Its like theyre friends first, they accidentally grew a family together and had this undeniable attraction to one another that is so satisfying to see once they finally act on it, but it doesnt change their core relationship much. They still argue and have fun little back and forth quips, they still both care about Lennox and Ryder and put their needs at the forefront, but theres the addition of expressing the love they have in a different way. They get to say i love you and be physcially intimate and it just makes everything feel so complete. And im so glad the show ran for enough episodes to really see that play out.

This is really why I hope buddie goes canon sooner rather than later. I think buck and eddie would be like mel and joe. I think their core relationship wouldnt change much, they are still best friends who want to hang out with eachother all the time, they still work together, they still prioritize their son, but also their interactions get to be even more loving and and intimate and their lives will feel so much more complete. And I really really want to see their romatic relationship play out on the tv screen sooner rather than later.

Least favorite tv show trope: a parent/sibling/etc who everyone hates and acts like a terrible person every moment on-camera, and despite everyone else going out of their way to include them/tolerate their rudeness, it’s heavily implied that everyone ELSE is in the wrong when they snap and tell them off for being a weapons-grade bitch. Even worse when they keep inviting them back to visit because FaMiLy, with no acknowledgement of their behavior or apology.

I consider it a plot hole that these characters aren’t just told to fuck off.

Facts. These two are in my top 5 favourite TV shows. It's been ages, and I still love watching Melissa and Joey.

Actually I wanted to make a post since I was rewatching it.......Joe Longo has anger issues. Its been made clear.

What I absolutely love about it is that Melissa is never worried about her safety or the safety of her kids. Like this strange buff guy lives in your house, looks after your kids and yes, his issues have issues. But they ARE a family. He is the uncle/dad these kids need.

That king of trust is rare. That kind of MAN is rare.

Talking about the episode where he finds out his daughter went on a date that Mel (they're married at this point) knew about it and didn't tell him.

She even tells him of how extreme his anger is (he didnt realize.. so much that his mother was worried about telling him Santa wasn't real) And she follows that up with saying she loves him, even the intense angry parts.

She's nervous, but she knows he won't hurt her. One of the best couples on TV. And highly underrated.

Baby Daddy and Melissa & Joey are so underrated
