at times i feel like the way that a large number of tennis fans have little to no respect towards female players in general, is showing that despite the sport being large at scale of engagements, i can say that badminton fans in general are more respectful and supportive of the female players.
#sadly i saw someone who said they were annoyed with coco's celebration yesterday?#she won a brutally challenging match#mentally and physically. coco played doubles too. the mental game to stay focus in the game despite the errors#i almost never encountered any badminton fans who badmouth our female players like that#genuinely disappointing because okay try and play for more than 3 hours with maxxing out your gas tank#sports thoughts#idk#im not saying that badminton has the superior fans in general but#you will not see an seyoung being criticised for having a very loud celebration after winning a match#that is vintage an seyoung we WANT her to celebrate like that#and generally even some of the players speak highly of the female players#the gap in gender bias is honestly sickening#edit: one of the examples that i remember fondly is when the news of asy's bullying case surface; anders antonsen spoke about it on his vlog#or podcast mentioning the case briefly and when she was lowk isolated by the assoc; anders invited her to practice togethe with other-#denmark players. viktor spoke very very highly of anse too. fellow players love her shes genuinely the best on and off court. source of-#inspiration etc. anse is probably reaching the god-tier status in badminton at the moment and nobody denies that#anse practicing with kento etc. and she speaks very highly of other players too#this is one thing that i can never get from tennis unfortunately.
