The Kindreds are demons who serve Mephisto. After failing to defeat Spider-man, they lost their purpose. Mephisto offers them freedom from hell if they carry out his plans. They disguise themselves as an angel and act as the team’s enforcer and de facto leader, without exposing their true identity as a demon. They judge the morality of the team and restrain them if necessary. In reality, they couldn't care less and just want to complete their mission.

Doctor Sax is a reformed supervillain and a blind saxophonist. His best friend, Johnny Guitar, died after saving his life. Since then, he has quit the supervillain business and focused on taking care of his family. Despite turning over a new leaf, his guilt and desire to reunite Johnny with his own family drove him to join the team. Still, he is disturbed by the depravity of his teammates. His weapons are a set of technologically advanced shades and a saxophone that can project sound blasts.

Wait is Cecil a ghost or not in this AU? You didn’t explicitly say whether he was or not still.

Heya, thanks for the ask! He's just a normal guy in this. I try to make it canon-compliant to the current comics, so it takes place after Unbelievable Gwenpool, where he regained his human body.

In the initial concept phase, he was going to be an invisible ghost hacker...but that was because of me forgetting Gwenpool's ending.

Anyway, he's happier being human :)

Princess Python is a small-time supervillain who is stuck in a rut and wants to do something new. She has many regrets in life that she hopes to put right, and the biggest one is how she treated her ex-husband, the Gibbon, before his death. She can sense that Mephisto is somehow involved in the operation, but not sure how. As Py-Gal, she pretends to be a master hacker but secretly follows Cecil’s directions.

Cecil is a hacker and friend of Gwenpool. He accidentally hacked the invitation, not knowing it was magic, and was teleported to the meeting spot. After learning about his hacking skills, the others threatened him to stay. He accepted after Gwenpool assured him that it wouldn’t hurt him to join. Still not certain, he brings his pet Asgardian dog along as a safeguard. As the tech expert of the team, he stays at base and remotely takes charge of any tech problems.

"Magic? I don't need magic to %&$# you up!"

After the Hood sold his soul to Mephisto, he finds himself abandoned by powerful entities and the hood losing its powers. He is desperate to get his soul back, just so he can be as powerful as before. While pretending to be a hero, he is always in demon form, masquerading as an intimidating yet well-meaning symbiote in public. Even in private, he refuses to take the hood off, in fear of losing any power he has left. He tries to project an image of strength to his teammates, but he no longer has the power to support it.

I didn’t know about his character much when coming up with initial designs but I knew I wanted him to be teethy - the symbiote stuff came later

Some inspiration from Red Riding Hood Mercenary from Lobotomy Corporation, in fact I wanted to name him “Red Rider” during the initial design

He’s always getting powers and losing them, why not let him be a symbiote?

Besides it gives the team have a physical powerhouse, someone bigger than the others

The chains/strands on his inactive form to show he is now tethered to his hood for its power

Arcade, a supervillain with a proclivity for murder and evil amusement parks, decides to collaborate with Kindred, to revive his former partner, Miss Locke. He takes on the ironic name Red Ace in his hero guise and controls a robot substitute in combat. Although Kindred recruited Arcade to fund the operation, it proved to be a bad idea, as Arcade is deeply unpopular in the supervillain community and few are willing to work with him. He finds it hard to not to murder people, especially his teammates, who understandably hate him.

Ya know how the first Thunderbolts team were heroes disguised as villains? I wanted to make another team with the same concept.

The premise is that Mephisto promises to revive any soul of a villain's choosing, if they just do good deeds for a year. The catch? He wants to see them reform before spiraling back to villainy (see: Superior Spider-man, Infamous Iron Man).

What hijinks will this unlikely team get into??!?!?
