Darla/Angelus/Drusilla/Spike: The Whirlwind. The Scourge of Europe. Somehow the perfect balance of terrible people and toxic dynamics to create an unhinged but stable polycule. (Stable for them, pretty de-stabilizing for the innocent populace caught in their wake)

Darla/Angelus: Unhinged murder couple. Toxic and loving every romantic minute of it

Drusilla/Spike: World class simp and his dark princess

Darla/Drusilla: Gal pals! (lesbianism)

Angelus/Spike: Family who fucking hate each other and who are also sometimes hate fucking each other

Angelus/Drusilla: Works okay in short bursts, but if it was just the two of them long term, even odds if Angelus would lose interest or his patience first. Either way, would not end well for Dru

Darla/Spike: Bit of a mystery; they don’t ever really directly interact with each other. Vibes suggest that Darla sees Spike as something of an annoying younger brother and only puts up with him because he takes care of Dru, which means there’s no reason for her to stick around if it’s just the two of them. Which is a shame because I know in my heart if we could get the two of them working as a united front, the head bitch energy would be legendary. They would serve so much cunt together.

Darla/Angelus/Drusilla: Mostly a happy throuple, but Drusilla does get neglected by the other two, hence her creation of Spike

Darla/Drusilla/Spike: Gives big mom and her two annoying little shits kids energy. Not a lot of drama (beyond normal vampire baseline) but also not a lot to keep Darla interested and around long term

Darla/Angelus/Spike: That one @/writing-prompt-s about the two destined lovers that reincarnate over and over plus this other guy who’s just sort of there

Angelus/Drusilla/Spike: Messy as fuck. Toxic, and not in a fun way this time (not for them; very fun for us watching at home). Angelus and Spike are having a pissing contest through Dru, and Dru only understands enough to egg them both on. Takes all of five seconds for Spike to go from excited to see Angelus again to “I would literally rather team up with the Slayer to save the day than spend one more second looking at your stupid massive forehead.” Darla is the glue, the linchpin holding this family together and this is the proof.

hello, i apologize if this question has alreaby been asked. i usually dont lurk into fandoms because i fail at navigating them, i just stick with interviews and bts, but for this adaptation i needed to peek a second to ask this. my understanding of vampire chronicles is that from start to finish its a huge messy romantic polycule, i never felt the need or even tried to pick couples because instead i loved to see how these romantic dynamics differ while being equally important and therefore show us the layers of these characters. even the supposed wedding still doesnt make me feel that they all wont still be a polycule in the full sense till the end. but here comes the confusion about the adaptation. from the interviews and the show itself i dont understand if i have to forget the polyamory that we have in the books or not. rolin (and cast too) i understood wants to be loyal to the material and anne but also big changes have been made and will be made. if they want to get rid of the polyamorous nature of these vampires would be a real pity, a lot of richness of this story would be lost i think. this is what im sensing.

So... it's not as if the vampires are all living in a poly-happy-relationship-knot in the books?

I know that it may come across as that, maybe, especially through fanfiction, I guess, but... in the books a lot of them live at Lestat's court (only) when the chronicles leave them.

And of those a lot of them love others of them. A lot of them hate others, too.

Living together does not necessarily equate romantic polycule. There are established pairings. Lestat & Louis, Armand & Daniel. Sevraine & Gabrielle. Seth & Fareed. And so on.

There surely are... lets say "excursions", and I wouldn't exactly say that with the show canon of sex added to the mix that there wouldn't be wild orgies... but... I wouldn't call it a "romantic polycule" per se. Or polyamory in the sense you seem to mean it.

The emotions are a complicated beast, and though there are interesting speeches wrt Armand and Lestat (for example) in the last book these are an expression of pain because of Louis (at that particular event).

I mean, these vampires have eternity, and the capacity to love more than one person. But it does not mean that (for example) Louis and Lestat live with Daniel and Armand then. That is not the case. Or Marius and Armand and Daniel. Though he was with Daniel for a while that is not the case either. You know?

It is complicated. And it does transcend typical human relationship standards.

But they're not "a huge messy romantic polycule" from start to finish, it is more an ever-shifting mess of relationships. An up and down, would be more appropriate to describe it, maybe.

As such I believe Rolin has built the show on two f the most solid ones there. Loustand and DM are endgame relationships. Which does not mean that they won't love others, too, but "love" and "in love" are different things. Lestat loves his mother, and will love her... but he doesn't live in a relationship with her later on, she is with Sevraine. Louis certainly feels some kind of love for Armand, but he doesn't continue to live with him, he leaves and chooses Lestat. Daniel chooses Armand again. Lestat loves his architect enough to bring him over, but Alain is not added to the relationship he has with Louis. There are vampires who support them, share blood with them, but they are not in a romantic relationship. And so on.

The court (in the later books, it is very different in the first ones?!) is the implementation of finally accepting themselves and what they are... and to live as such, with each other. But that does not mean that they're all romantically involved.

We'll see what the show does with it, but personally I did not expect them to go "messy romantic polycule"... what I do expect them to do is not shy away from the messy interconnections that exist because of history... and they don't.

I mean... Louis and Armand having shared a boyfriend is true (well, if you believe Armand^^) - but it's apart by a hundred years.

Mihawk's illicit affairs come to light (as in his messy as fuck polycule-situationship-him and every single man over the age of 37 in the grand line) one way or another and Perona is already aware of all of them so she just nods along while Zoro is increasingly losing his marbles next to her like "What do u mean Shanks? Luffy's pseudodad Shanks? CROCODILE? CROCODILE AND THE CLOWN? SIMULTANEOUSLY?WHY THE CLOWN?" whole while Mihawk is head in hands if I ignore it it isn't happening take a sip of wine hope no one brings up that one weird time with Dragon or I will never recover kind of mood. Maybe this is final arc adjacent and everyone is allied with each other against Blackbeard and Shuggy are fighting and Mihawk has his dirty laundry aired like this because neither Buggy nor Shanks comprehend the concepts of "public breakdown" or "using inside voices" or "fighting each other somewhere the entire world can't see it". Crocodile remains unphased, mostly because he is trying to avoid people he knows so he is unaware Shanks is bringing his business into his marital spat with Buggy. Also because he is shameless.

Mihawk doesn't get paid enough to deal with this shit, God forbid depressed homosexual vampiric swordsmen have fun-- And Zoro's reaction would be so funny because he'd just turn around to Perona like "YOU KNEW??? AND WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME???" / "You didn't ask. And I knew you'd lose your mind and be annoying so...". He even tells Luffy when he sees him and asks him if he knows, and Luffy is like "Does it matter who he sleeps with? We're pirates! We should be free to do these things!" and Zoro is just like, head in hands, groaning, and saying "I don't give a fuck who he sleeps with, I just thought he'd have better taste and the thought of it is just ugghhh".

On the other hand, Shanks and Buggy do not know what privacy means so literally everybody knows about their affairs and dramas because the Shuggy/Cross Guild thing is a whole telenovela.

Team nostalgia headcannons cuz I'm making them kiss in my au lol

So um I really like alternative subcultures (hello, goth metalhead here) so that influenced these au designs.

Firstly, Aeon is really into cyber goth/industrial fashion but only really started to dress like that after the events of ffsx6 followed by her leaving Cain's organisation and realising her true identity upon meeting Nazo. The two instantly bonded over their shared hatred for Sonic and later how confusing gender is. She got him into alt fashion/music and taught Nazo how to make their own kandi jewellery. She quickly found out he enjoyed having his quills played with which she would playfully taunt him with. While working under Cain, she was very reserved but also one of his most loyal underlings, eager to take out her frustrations on whoever stood in her and her peers' way.

After his antics in unleashed and act 1 of wrath, Nazo was forced to come to terms with the fact he wouldn't be able to achieve ultimate power like he originally planned or he'd just be reduced to ashes a second time. He roamed around aimlessly for a long time though those old parts Robotnik used to keep him alive were incredibly uncomfortable. Being the already chaotic being they are, this discomfort would often lead to violent outbursts which nearly put them back on Sonic's radar several times though they did catch the attention of Aeon and later Seelkadoom. The device keeping his heart going is also janky as hell, giving him frequent palpitations though he found chaos energy from the emeralds or his other forms seemed to stabilise it. He found Aeon wounded from her fight with Sonic while he was searching for a chaos emerald, the two making a deal to help each other out of their predicaments as hurtful to their egos as it was.

After a messy defeat, Seelkadoom remained in Herbegitan and isolated himself in the castle him and Sonic fought in. He claimed it as his home while he slowly recovered and gained back his strength. With his solitude and the eternal night that reigned over his dwelling, he developed an interest in vampires from the novels he'd pass the time by reading. Once he'd recovered, he would occasionally travel back to Mobius out of boredom though he avoided places where his metaphorical brothers frequented which was most crowded areas. He resents Robotnik for many reasons including naming him "Sonaw" which he found stupid and honestly not edgy enough though the main cause of his anger towards the doctor was how he essentially hard-wired Seelkadoom to go into a blind rage when in proximity of Sonic and his friends meaning even after breaking away from Robotnik's control, he'd still be forced to live in hiding or risk another defeat. He came across Nazo and Aeon along one of his journeys to Mobius, forming a strong friendship with the two before they eventually started dating as a polycule.

Guys, I’ve got Dracula writing ideas? Huh, I guess I do. They’re mostly focused heavily on Jonathan Harker.

Dracula x Jonathan fairytale au oneshots. I’ve got ideas for a Rapunzel au, Beauty and the Beast, and Snow White. Note for Rapunzel, it may be very toxic Dracula x Jonathan with Mina being the prince.

Mina x Lucy Barbie and the Diamond Castle au but instead of diamonds, they go to the castle to hunt vampires. Maybe Jonathan is Melody trapped in the mirror? Dracula is Lydia, we all know this. There may be a polycule with Jonathan, the girls, and the suitors.

Dracula Retold au. This actually is a bit of a messy plot but I’ve got some ideas. Version one is Dracula turns Jonathan in his castle and he becomes a vampire. Jonathan escapes back to England but everyone is hunting him instead of Dracula, because he is accidentally invading England. He may even kill Mina for romantic angst. No, he’s not crazy. He tried so hard not to. He just couldn’t control his thirst.

Version two of the story is if Jonathan never even met Dracula at all. Instead, he gets lost on his journey and winds up at another castle in a Beauty and the Beast inspired retelling. Oops, is this going to be a self insert shipping me with him? Yes, yes it is.

Dracula x Jonathan modern romantic but gothic rom com. Still fleshing it out but I did make a post about it.

December Book Reviews: A Dowry of Blood by ST Gibson

Picked this book up because it was in my goodreads recommendations and I've enjoyed other books by Gibson in the past. In A Dowry of Blood, a dying peasant girl is snatched up by an unknown vampire to be his bride--only to spend centuries struggling with his abusive control, along with the rest of the vampire polycule.

A Dowry of Blood has a very cool concept--vampire polycule, abusive relationships, a retelling about a vampire who's probably Dracula but who Constanta symbolically refuses to name in her account. I very much liked some parts of it, and I think Gibson especially shines in depicting Constanta's growing awareness of the unnamed vampire's creeping emotional manipulation and violent rages. However, the relatively limited page space combined with the sweeping scope of a narrative covering hundreds of years meant that other elements suffer a bit. In particular, Constanta's relationship with the other brides, Magdalena and Alexi, is only vaguely filled in, with a narration that tends more towards telling us how much they love each other rather than depicting it on page. This is a problem when those bonds are the force that drives the narrative and compels them to betray the vampire. Still, that's partially due to Constanta's very direct second person narration, which of course stylistically tends towards a sort of summarized account.

A must-read for hardcore vampire aficionados, but if you're here for the messy poly romance dynamic, I think you're better off reading Gibson's Evocation instead.

i dreamt i was the new tumblr sexyman for a day and it was so fucking messy like the most popular ship was me with the m&ms in a polycule kinda way and people were making fan theories that i'd drink chocolate milk in front of them as a kink thing which caused discourse on the ethics of me "drinking the blood of my lovers" where one side found it disturbing and another found it really hot and likened it to vampirism and for some reason when i posted about how i'm actually lactose intolerant so i couldn't drink chocolate milk as much as i wanted to people started writing fanfiction like "kobolde!no ibs" and it was so strange

this is currently my favourite IWTV multichapter fic... it's a canon divergence AU where louis turns daniel in 1973 and it's about the two of them plus armand's tumultuous relationship and (eventual) messy polycule..... it's also hands-down my favourite characterisation of daniel that i've ever seen in a fic - all the contemporary history and politics of each decade and location explored in the fic is really well-integrated into daniel's character and career. exactly my cup of tea as a history nerd and everything else about it (the character work, the writing, the drama) is fucking spectacular too<3 fic rec times a million guys. go read it!

In many aspects I like to meet my partner where they're at, so I am flexible on a lot of these things. I prefer to do multipara, well thought out replies that focus on quality over quantity. I won't go down to less than a couple paragraph typically, unless my partner does for rapid fire dialogue type scenarios. I can go up to a couple discord messages worth of writing, although I prefer to only go long if there's good substance to it!

I exclusively RP OCs, mostly fandomless, of many genders and sexualities. I tend to use written or drawn FCs, but will use IRL ones if that's my partners preference.

- Character A is a vampire. Character B has always wanted to be one, and is trying to convince A to change them. The only problem is, A is a bad vampire, and doesn't know how to change them.

- Character A is a vampire. Character B is a human, with the most delicious blood A has ever tasted. Now B has a problem - A can't get enough of them.

- A is a line cook, B a waiter. One night it's just the two of them closing the restaurant together, when they come across a slight problem: The world outside the restaurant seems to have ceased to exist.

I’m new to this fandom so I may be speaking out of turn, but the concept of ship wars here of all fandoms is baffling to me

Like are all these vampires canonically not part of maybe a handful of big messy drama-filled polycules worldwide?? Like 5 tops?

(Except Lestat at some point at least tried to fuck basically everyone, so really one massive polycule lol)
