This was insane. Liddy knew that celebrities were often dogged by paparazzi and fans, but she didn't realize just how bullshit this was. They had just been getting a coffee when someone came up to them with a camera in their face, asking for intimate details about their relationship, and she was more than a little tempted to grab the phone and chuck it as far as she could.

Instead, however, she just wrapped her arm around Beni's waist with a tight smile, and answered, "You know if we tell you everything, it'll ruin the magic. Always leave something to the imagination, mate." With a wink and a smirk, Liddy turned to plant a kiss on Beni, before taking the opportunity to shove the fan aside and slip out into the crowd together.

Skrael's brow raised, the light blue of their irises reflecting naked intrigue, as he lowered from the air to hover at eye-level with the being in front of him.

Their voice was wispy and pitched high as ever, like wind whistling through a gap between rocks. "You flatter..." He rasped. "But knowing the nature of a thing does not inherently render it dysfunctional. Have you sought me intentionally, or is this a chance meeting? Are you an opportunist, a schemer--" A pause. "...Or both?"

They eyed the other, still unveiling their emotions willingly, almost arrogantly, as if they had nothing to fear by doing so. How would this be greeted? Skrael wondered. Would the honesty be punished? Lauded? Left unacknowledged altogether? So many questions...

"Or are you something else entirely?" There would be time for more, yet.

"Manipulator, no real question about it. It's a lot safer to be on that side, I've since what happens to those who are too gullible, and it's nothing good. Besides, I'm a good liar, it's practically what I do for a living, why waste that skill?"

Is it your fear of commitment or your fear of intimacy that makes you shut down more?

"Intimacy, when I rarely find somebody who actually wants to be intimate. You'd think from how much I move around, and sleep around, it'd be commitment, but honestly if I found someone I loved, who didn't end up with something terrible happening to them, I'd be more than happy to just settle down and have a family.

But it's hard, most people that try to get close to me just want something for themself. And it's so hard to trust that people won't just run away if I get real with them. And at least being surrounded by shallow relations, is better than being alone.

He laughed. "Everything. But no, really, my status as a Zatara, my magic and it's strength. My value to people outside of being a pretty face. My relationships. My life experiences and the fact that they've been pretty shitty. If the Teen Titans are my friends. If Eddie is my friend. If I'm even capable of caring about people in the way a friend is supposed to. The fact that I was a father, just one that got robbed of any chance to live that life.
